My recommendation is to stay as far away from this place as possible. I learned the hard way that assuming the quote for their repairs from these people would be fair and reasonable is a fools errand. These people operate on the "gotcha" principle and, once you agree to have work done, vastly inflate the price of their "labor" above industry practices. This is the worst auto service shop I've ever been to. They don't even try to hide the fact that they are trying to bleed you for money. Multiple times they had made stuff up about what was wrong with my car so I would pay more. They did it before when I was there to get one simple thing fixed. It should have been a cheap easy fix but they made it a complex problem in order to get more money out of me. I recently went there again and they charged me close to $4k when most of the things they listed weren't actually wrong with my car. I would know because I went to a real mechanic and he told me almost none of the things they said were wrong with my car. i got it done for $2k less at a different place. So if you don't like paying for things you don't need and being lied to, try to find a different shop! read more

I brought my car in due to the check engine light was on. I was contacted and told my car was ready. I went in to pay the bill and get the keys. Mike took me aside and said the check engine light was not on. He was very dismissive. He said 'nothing was wrong with the car'. When I got back into my car the check engine light was still on. I did not go back in the station and decided that I needed to bring my car elsewhere. I called the Honda dealership when I got home. I brought the car to the dealership two days later the check engine light remained on. After they checked the car the service agent asked when the car was last serviced I said oil change in April and had rear brakes replaced in May. The service rep was surprised he said there was a lack of fluid levels in the engine. I did not notice any fluid leaks on my driveway. They found that the intake boot on the engine was severely torn. I also mentioned I had heard a persistent noise in left rear axle since brakes were replaced in May. That required a wheel bearing replacement. When I got back into my car to drive it home the engine was quiet and there was no noise in the rear wheel. I have been going to this service station for many years and I was very dissatisfied by how my concerns about the car were dismissed by Mike. I was left with the feeling of what other work was not properly done on my car. It pains me to say this about Mike and the service there I never expected that I would ever have to do this. read more

I've been coming here for years - oil changes, inspections, brakes, sway bar, wheel bearings, etc. I value this local business; the mechanics keep me up to speed multiple times throughout the process. The mechanics are knowledgeable, they have advocated for immediate repairs when necessary and have advised against excessive repairs that my dealership recommended (srsly - dealership wants me to spend $1000's every time I go there). I brought my car here today after this place came highly recommended. When I went in, the guy was incredibly rude and acted like I was a bother to even be there. He said, and I quote, "We are too busy. Mercedes is too hard to fix. Take it somewhere else." The, he scowled at me and waved me away. Racist? Homophobic? I had a sudden, unexpected failure of my power steering pressure switch and my car was hemorrhaging fluid. Luckily I was close to a service station. That service station was Pawtuxet Sunoco and Tyler was the skilled "surgeon" who removed and replaced the ailing pressure switch that same day ! Thank You Tyler ! I brought my car here to have a 2 slow tire leaks fixed with small nails in them. Sure enough, both my tires were mutilated because the repair technician didn't know what he was doing (he over ground the inside of the tire when trying to get the patch to stick) and i couldn't repair them. Pat Grogan (Pawtuxet Sunoco) is a long-standing and most deservingly respected member of the local, business, and automobile repair community. Honest, accountable, fair quality work and customer service. Can do most anything a dealer or bigger outfit would do, more pleasantly and economically. (would tell you ahead if not and recommend good alternative). Especially if you are nearby, you should use this place. His employees stay with him so I presume they are treated well and you will be too. Beyond the years of occasional transactions we have had, I am moved to write because we recently had a dispute, relating to an unlucky misfortune occurring on the property. It was surprisingly unpleasant (for both of us I suspect). Maybe we were both having a bad day. Anyway, we managed to agree on a resolution to put it behind us. I was feeling unsettled with what we had agreed on overnight actually, but did not complain, ask for, pllan or pursue better accommodation as we had already agreed. When the repair was swiftly completed and the bill presented it was right about where I would have wished hoped and expected. Exactly fair. He (they) totally came through. I've been taking my cars here for years since it was Pawtuxet Sunoco. The longtime staffed mechanics and owner have always been great with providing repairs and maintenance at reasonable prices. They never try to up-sell me on things that are not needed and often give advice that certain things can be addressed at a later date when is financially convenient. We have been bringing all our vehicles to Sunoco Pawtuxet for about 10 years. It can be a little hard to get scheduled because they are always booked, but I take that as a good sign.
