My son has been attending this preschool since he was 18 months old, he will be 3 in October. While no one in our family speaks Russian and all the teachers speak Russian, I knew something felt right when I first toured the school and met Larisa; I'm so glad I followed my instinct. If you want your child to speak Russian, because that is your native language, this is a great choice. If you are like me, and now my child speaks Russian (bonus language), then this is an excellent choice! The environment at this school is warm, nurturing, and structured in a way that supports real growth and development. My son plays happily with the other kids, participates in all the activities, and has really thrived. The language barrier has never been an issue, if anything, it's been a gift. The teachers helped facilitate potty training when I told them I was ready to also train him at home at just 2 years old, and now he goes completely on his own (almost 3). He does art, sings songs, dances, and participates in adorable performances for Mother's Day, Father's Day, and the holidays. Every child's birthday is celebrated (a heads-up to be ready with a gift), which makes school feel special before they head off to elementary school. The teachers are truly caring and attentive. It's only less well known because they don't market much besides word of mouth, which is also a great indication where they focus their time and energy: on the children! Talking to my friends whose kids go to feeder preschools, we know we have it so much better in terms of the whole package: quality of education, diversity of activities, and care. My daughter 4.5 yo has been there for almost two years now and my son 2 yo almost one year. Here is why Vally Village Little School is the best choice you can make for your kids. 1. Academic Rigor: This is the first thing we looked for. Are our kids learning anything? Are they being challenged intellectually? Ms. Larisa has exceeded our expectations wildly here. My daughter is 4 years old and can already read and do addition and subtraction under 20, something all of my friends with kids same age marvel at. She can read and write in English and speak fluent and sophisticated Russian. Her penmanship improved drastically within the first few months of enrolling here. My son, barely 2 years old, can draw circles and color within the lines. He could even feed himself with steady hands soon after we enrolled him at around 14 months old. This incredible motor control is something we credit the school for. 2. Enrichment Experiences: Many schools that focus on reading and math tend to have a more limited set of enrichment curriculum. That's not the case for Valley Village Little School. The school puts on two musicals a year. Witnessing how the children, some barely 2 years-old, recite lines, sing and dance, all in fluent Russian, was what surprised us and delighted us the most. The production quality and the children's engagement was nothing short of Broadway/Hollywood theatre for children. In fact, I enrolled my daughter in a famous local dramatic arts center, Larisa's musical was so much better. The kids could dance and sing with minimal prompt, interact with each other, and used the stage space effectively, all on their own. Everyone was engaged, focused, and participating with smiles and energy. Even the occasional kids that cried (it is pretty terrifying performing in front of a large audience of adults), kept going with the flow. Even our son, at 1.5, was performing the correct dance moves. Besides the musical, our kids bring back arts and crafts projects throughout the week. They also bake delicious cookies and puffs that I've personally benefited from. I also love that they celebrate all holidays to learn different cultures, history, social studies, from Lunar New Year, to Earth Day. My daughter also take 1:1 piano lessons at school and during the school hours (another perk that makes life easy for the parents). Ms. Larisa actually went above and beyond and ask Nadia, who was actually the mother of one of the kids who attended 10 years ago, to be our piano teacher. My daughter recently had a piano recital. She could play with both hands in front of a large audience. Unlike her previous piano teacher at a different school, she loves Nadia, always hugs her when she sees her, and it was very clear that Nadia takes much pride and cares a lot about my daughter. 3. Most Caring Teachers: With everything I said above, this is actually the best part of the school. They cook all three meals fresh + snacks every day. My daughter often says that the meals we have at home is not as good at the dishes cooked by Deda Sergey (husband of Ms. Larisa), and asks us to get the recipe from them. Ms. Larisa personally texts photo updates of our kids to us every day. Oh, they also host all kids' birthday parties in school. This lifts a huge load of planning + cleaning off our shoulders, and frees up our weekends. Moreover, it's more inclusive of everyone in the class, and kids have so much fun together. Before she started the school, my daughter was a terrible napper. We had to stroll/drive her around sometimes for hours for a 30 min nap. Our jaw dropped after learning that she consistently naps in school, starting on day one. My son, who at his temporary daycare the month before we could enroll him full-time with Ms. Larisa, cried so hard that the principal called us to unenroll. A few weeks after he started with Ms. Larisa, it was clear he loved school, especially teacher Zhenya, so much that he climbs down from me and runs into her arms every morning at drop off. Teacher Nazima is fantastic with both the little ones and the older kids like my daughter. My daughter comes home with the most elaborate and intricate hairstyles. They'd be famous if they start a YT channel on toddler hairstyles. The teachers undo my daughter's hair for naps. This gesture is another shining example how much they care about our kids' comfort, with much attention to details as tied-up hair during nap. It's the little things that matter and tell. How important it is to choose a kindergarten where your child will be safe and surrounded by love and care. For us, this kindergarten has become exactly that! I take my son to school at 8 a.m. with peace of mind and pick him up at 5:30 a.m. as a happy, smiling child. The kindergarten has an individual approach to each child, including education. In three months of study, my son learned to count to 20, hold a pen correctly and tries to write letters. In three months, my son knows 4 songs and poems by heart. And he does all this with pleasure, which makes us so happy! Every day, each child has their own program for learning math, writing, dancing, learning poems and songs. When I pick up my son from kindergarten, I am given a program (4 A4 sheets) that my son studied today: I see what letter he learned today, how he wrote, what numbers he studied. And at home, he can open these sheets and tell me everything again with me. I repeat: he does all this with pleasure! And this is the most important thing - to instill a love of knowledge. And they get 5+ out of 5 for this. On Fridays, there is a creativity lesson in the kindergarten and my son always leaves the kindergarten on this day with a craft that he made! Moreover, Larisa, the director of the kindergarten, sends photos and videos of my son during his studies or games almost every day. :) And my soul is calm for my son and his development. This is worth a lot! The kindergarten has home-cooked meals, which my child is used to! For me, this was a very important aspect! I pulled my baby after 2 days in this daycare. Stay away. Will start from beginning: 1. Owner lied about the room my kid will be staying/playing. I did have a tour prior joining. The owner showed me one nice big room claiming that younger kids stay here and older kids upstairs. Drop off though should be in different room which never been shown (kitchen like room). On first day I went to that room and they kicked me out saying that i am not allowed in there, even according to health and safety code i have a right to inspect all areas where my child will be playing. The most interesting part that kids stayed there all time until 11am (our pick up time). Meaning they never moved to the room she showed me. She hid this room from me on the tour. 2. Baby was seated in a feeding chair for two hours!! Baby that never sits. The only sign of stress for them is crying, but my baby is not a cryer. After my question owner said baby was on the floor and then she asked to be seated back. LIE. Baby is 17 month and not talking. I disposed all feeding chairs from home because baby never used it. 3. After picking up, my baby was super quiet and staring at one point meaning no one comforted her, she was coping by herself. I know it is stressful experience for kids but this was beyond normal. and now i can compare to another daycare, where baby is happy. In conclusion, 5-6 young toddlers playing same and only toy for two days (the days i know) in the kitchen-like small room where parents never allowed to. Understand all hygiene protocols but she just lied to me and not mentioning that i lost $800 for these two terrible days. read more

My two children went to the top-rated school before, and I thought it's the best until my friend recommended Valley Village Litte School. In the beginning, I was worried because it's a small school and I never heard about it before. Once I enrolled one of my children and tried for a couple of weeks, and then realized that I had won the lottery for them. My three years old son loves it! He runs to the school with a smile on his face. He comes back home happy with clean clothing and shoes and brushed hair. Every day he has tailored homework that he is delighted to do. In a short period of time, I saw a considerable improvement in both languages Russian and English as well as in writing, drawing, dancing, math and discipline. My son also started to learn to recite poems and songs. After seeing that, I decided to enroll my 2nd child, who is five years old for the summer. He loves it, as well. His math, writing, memory, and Russian language, as well as English, improved significantly. I am so thankful to my friend who recommended this school. I am so thankful to the owner Larrisa for taking my children into her school. I am speechless about the principal teacher Sholpana. She goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. I cannot rave more about this school. They took my daughter in at 14 months old and from then on she's been flourishing. They take care of her as if she's family. Larisa ( the owner) is always there to help with ANY questions. Nadya ( one of the care providers for my child) is a good heart energetic creative person. I LO-O-O-VE to see her projects for children AND you should see what she can do with your child's hair !!!!!! I take a picture sometime of it to remember and use it later. Oh,! they have parties at the Russian restaurant ( like mothers day, X-mas, etc) with food for parents afterwords. Fantastic little find in the valley, especially if you want your kiddo to speak Russian. They are probably a bit pricier than others in the area, but they provide 3 meals and snacks and treat my kiddo really well. He loves going to school. We have been taking our son to this daycare/school now for over a year. I am American and my husband is Russian and it was important for our son to learn the language so he could communicate with family. I was hesitant at first as I don't speak any Russian but I am so so so happy our son is here at this little school. We started in the little baby group and have graduated to the older group now. The caretakers in both groups are beyond wonderful. They are so loving and really care about the children they are watching. He loves going to school now that he doesn't even say goodbye to me anymore when I drop him off. He talks about his teachers and his friends at home all the time. I wholeheartedly trust them with my child in every sense of the word as I know they have my child's and all the other children's best interest at heart. I also love this place because his milestones are being hit so early on as they teach the children songs, dance, speaking/language, and writing. He is smarter than other children his age because of this school and he will be more advanced than others when he goes to kindergarten which warms my heart and makes me a very proud parent. This is a great daycare! Teachers take time to learn kids' strengths and levels of preparation and teach accordingly. The teachers are warm and caring yet strict when needed to keep discipline in check. Children are exposed to arts and music, and dance, languages and math. There are a lot of toys for role play. My son went to this school and after attending for almost a year, we found out the owner did not have a license to run his group. Also, she was the coldest, most uninvolved person ever to run a school for children. They constantly had rotating teachers and their educational program was non existent. Also, my son would come home angry and sad and tell me they were not nice to him there, what so ever! Also, they wouldn't let him finish his food during lunch time and would make him getup from the table even if he was still hungry! This was heart breaking for us! Not to mention they constantly allowed sick kids and my son came home sick all the time! Save your money, time, nerves and especially your kids! Do NOT go to this school! My son has been going here since he was a little over 2 years old and now he is 3.5. The education is great, they teach him reading, writing, spelling, arts and crafts, exercise routines and treat the kids well. What can I say about a school that teaches my child and keeps her happy. They are wonderful. Nadia one of the teachers for our child sends us photo's of our child during the day to show us hows she's doing. Our daughter learns Russian and English everyday. The school teach the children dancing and plays live music for the children, it is truly and enriched surroundings. They celebrate each child's birthday and they really make each child feel special by making a party for them. The teacher to student ration is very low and all the children get a lot of one on one care. The staff truly seems to care about every student that attends there.
