I waited to write the review since the COVID-19 pandemic was in full force at the time of my initial query. While I was very disappointed to have not received any responses to my initial inquiries, I was VERY impressed to have received a personal response on Yelp within minutes of my posting my original review, apologizing for my not having received any responses, and asking for supplemental information so that they could investigate and try to find a root cause. They checked their systems and couldn't find my contact attempts. Their demonstrated concern for potential customers was very evident, as was their professionalism in taking the time to write a thorough and thoughtful response as well as their desire to find and fix the root cause. I'm not sure when or if I'll be in the market for a mortgage broker service again, but if I am, I'll definitely give Green Mortgage Northwest a shot before I contact anybody else based on their excellent response.

From the start, I've had nothing but issues with their fraud protection system. Every time I tried adding my debit card to Apple Wallet, my account froze and triggered a fraud alert. Then, after making a small purchase (under $6!) at a supermarket I visit all the time, the same thing happened again. Of course, these alerts always seemed to hit on weekends -- leaving me without access to my money until Monday. When I finally reached customer service, they offered no real help. I was told there was nothing they could do and that "Apple or the market" was causing the alerts -- which makes no sense, since I've never had this issue with any other bank. More recently, my direct deposit didn't post on the scheduled day. I went into the branch to let them know and asked that any overdraft fees be reversed since the deposit would arrive the next business day. Instead of helping, the assistant manager, Kay Birgul, was dismissive and rude. Her exact words were, "If you have more items that hit before your deposit, your employer will have to cover them." I've never requested a fee reversal before and didn't appreciate being treated like an inconvenience. To be fair, other staff at that branch have been kind and helpful in the past -- but this experience was enough to push me to close my account. I'm moving out of state soon anyway and will be switching to another bank. I'm sure there are plenty of local options with better customer service and fewer technical issues.

I have been banking for over 30 years at OnPoint. Business and personal accounts. But OnPoint broke…read moremy trust today. I paid $1000 for about $650 worth of Vietnamese currency. Highway robbery. One hour later I called the bank to cancel the transaction. After spending 40 minutes of a 42 minute call on hold, I was told it was "too late" to cancel it. This is customer service? I have been a customer since 1994, but why should I bother to continue? The tellers at the branch are super nice, but there needs to be more transparency. How about warning the customer that they might want to consider that they will only be getting 17k VND to one USD instead of the actual exchange rate of 26k VND. Maybe alert the customer that he will lose $350 on a $1000 exchange? And not make it so hard to cancel an unsatisfactory transaction? And, hey, do they think our time is so cheap that it's okay to spend 40 minutes on hold?

Very professional and communicative! Jordan presented me with options and when I brought a quote from another lender, Jordan said he could match or beat it. They did, indeed! The underwriter was a bit slow, but Jordan was reassuring. No matter how many times I reached out in a day, Jordan was patient and responsive. Right before closing, he took a vacation out of the country. Jordan assured me I could still reach out. I was hesitant, but did and tried to keep communication minimal as not to disturb him. I had a bump in the road - something came up in one of their consumer report checks and I thought my dream of buying a home was over. Jordan took care of it. Mortgage Express did not make me feel like just another number. I would go through them again! From identifying the home I wanted to purchase and making an offer to closing was about 30 days exactly! I've heard horror stories about closing delays, but between my realtor, lender, and escrow company, they made it happen quickly! If you decide to go with Mortgage Express, a PHC (Portland Housing Center) partner lender, ask for Jordan. He is the best!!
