I have been banking for over 30 years at OnPoint. Business and personal accounts. But OnPoint broke my trust today. I paid $1000 for about $650 worth of Vietnamese currency. Highway robbery. One hour later I called the bank to cancel the transaction. After spending 40 minutes of a 42 minute call on hold, I was told it was "too late" to cancel it. This is customer service? I have been a customer since 1994, but why should I bother to continue? The tellers at the branch are super nice, but there needs to be more transparency. How about warning the customer that they might want to consider that they will only be getting 17k VND to one USD instead of the actual exchange rate of 26k VND. Maybe alert the customer that he will lose $350 on a $1000 exchange? And not make it so hard to cancel an unsatisfactory transaction? And, hey, do they think our time is so cheap that it's okay to spend 40 minutes on hold? read more

I was with Oregon Community Credit Union for 20 years and never had to call them for anything. What a wonderful credit union to do business with!!! Fast forward to a move over to these clowns when I relocated to Portland. What a JOKE. This bank sucks so hard I cannot even believe it. I am constantly having to call them for some bs or another. Today, as in other times past, I can't access my statements on a Sunday. "Authorization has been denied" Hey OnPoint!! WTAF??? ... and GFY!!! I've been with them for about 4 months and I regret it with all my being. The only upside is the interest on their savings. I feel backed into a corner and I don't like it. Since the recent update to OnPoint's mortgage interface, transactions now take 2-4 business days to appear in the transaction ledger, previously, they were immediate. This lack of real-time visibility is unacceptable in 2025. Additionally, the new third-party mortgage platform is clunky and cluttered with redundancy and appears focused more on upselling mortgage services than providing usable data or a functional user experience. As a 30+ year OnPoint customer, I find these changes deeply frustrating and am seriously considering transferring my mortgage elsewhere if they are not addressed. read more

Again, any function you'd expect from a general bank, don't expect it here. I've been charged $40 in misc. subscriptions this month alone that I've noticed, (Disney+, etc) for old inactive accounts. I've tried contacting customer support to delete them, no luck, so I called OnPoint to block the merchant from being able to charge my card. This is a feature I even have on my Cashapp card, which isn't a legitimate bank. OnPoint tells me they can't individually block merchants and I'll have to close my entire account. It's 2025. What can you do? I guess I'll just be charged for these random subscriptions I can't cancel because I can't go through the process of canceling my entire checking account with all my money in it. I had good experience with Onpoint for many years, good rates, and good service, but everything has changed. I'm moving all of my accounts out of Onpoint. What happened was someone must have some duplicated my debit card, law enforcement told me it's shockingly easy to do, and has been stealing money from me. I went into the Branch and made a report to a customer service person who said he was going to pass this information onto the fraud department and they would get back to me within 10 days. i showed him how I have never even overdrawn my account let alone done something dishonest, I showed him how I rarely the debit card before and I rarely used one that isn't at the the branch , I showed him that I had plenty of money in the bank and did not need to steal from myself, I showed him on my calendar. that I wasn't even in town when several of the transactions occurred. He said their fraud unit would pull up ATM cameras to see who was doing this.. I didn't hear anything from them for weeks so I reached back out to Onpoint. they told me they've decided that I'm stealing my own money and they are not going to look into it at all, let alone consider reimbursing me for the theft. I was shocked. This is so different from my earlier experience. in their old culture, they would've given their customer the benefit of the doubt and made some minimal effort to identify the thief. I understand that they've changed their culture from consumer and community oriented to a corporate profit orientation. They've replaced the community members on their board with banking executives.. Been an Onpoint Personal and Business member for the past 12 years. Now I'm disabled, medically retired, so am just a personal use Onpoint Member. Unfortunately, I was away, out of the area for over 6 months, a stay that left me completely out of touch with friends here in Oregon and I did not have reliable internet/phone access to my house sitter or even my bank account. I learned my suposed friend who was a neighbor/house sitter wasn't taking care of my home, my mortgage or utilities and things were terribly behind. My family stepped in to Investigate when we found out that I only had $187 dollars left in my checking account that had close to $11k in it when I left on my trip. My credit/debit numbers had been stolen and maxed out online. Even with a police report proving the loss, Onpoint has not helped me like we expected. While a great Onpoint CSR did work hard to have VISA take care if the $20k worth of VISA debt without any problem. Onpoint didn't give me one cent back of my over $11k debit card fraud loss, all because they stated I knew and allowed the housesitter access to my cards. My housesitter paid two bills I asked her to pay using my debit card number online, two payments she didn't need my actual pin code to make. Somehow her family or friends got into my property and gleaned all my active card numbers and begin to make hundreds of prepaid visa card purchases over the months I was gone. My housesitter never once used a card/pin at an ATM, so it wasn't her doing the thefts. Summary: 1- BEWARE OF WHO YOU PERSONALLY TRUST AROUND YOUR PROPERTY. 2- BE AWARE OF ONPOINT'S MEMBER AGREEMENT and their fine print innuendo, even tho the Onpoint CSR wished she could help, my total honesty and too much information caused a bigger issue. 3- USE VISA, not Onpoint Debit Card for your purchases. 4- SAD, but my caretakers and I are left thinking it would have been best NOT to be forthright or provide the entire story, because ONPOINT used my honesty against me in this situation. 5- SHRED CARDS and SHRED card/account statements (I was literally told by an Onpoint CSR that I was culpable for the loss because I left my cards and statements out where my friends had access to them, even though I was away for 6 months without access to my home). 6- Even if you have brain injury causing memory/speech problems,, DON'T keep your pin number letter with your bank file folder and don't write your pin number on the back of any cards, period! 7- PICK ANY OTHER BANK OR CU, but only after you really understand the member agreement. They have great people, good accounts (checking & savings), they did great on my car loan (and I paid it off quick), but when I needed a home loan (though I had $40k and a good job) they failed me ! So I moved my money to USAA. read more

I guess this is the place to go, if your bank's security theater effectively locks you out of online banking, and you want the teller at a branch of this credit union to not even remediate the problem, when you physically enter this branch for help doing so. As a Unitus refugee, I love OnPoint Credit Union! I had an account with OnPoint quite some time ago, but closed it because I had a hissy fit about their non-functional website. Sorry to say, I don't think their "new" website is much of an improvement. (Seems about the same.) But OnPoint itself is leagues above Untius, or any bank I've used. Both last time I was a member and this time, I have found them to be friendly and helpful. They have treated me with respect and have been more generous about giving me reasonable credit. Unitus would rather have lost me as a customer than give me a loan for a car. They finally gave me my last car loan, after I contacted the head office because "my branch" was treating me like crap. But the interest rate was 11.4%! And I had been banking there for years and had two previous loans, plus credit cards, with them. This was a bit over a year ago. Okay, I'm going to get over Unitus now, but I opened a new account with OnPoint and they gave me approval for a car loan 50% higher than Unitus had, and at 4.1% interest instead of 11.4%. Enough said. Except... I want to say that the gentleman that helped me with my loan, Jeff Salas, was excellent. Friendly and so helpful. The dealer I bought my car from in Washington didn't know what he was doing. Jeff patiently worked with him to get the check up there and the title down here... He's great! Thanks Jeff! So overall, OnPoint is customer friendly, and more importantly, respectful, and a pleasure to do business with (unlike some CUs I know). read more

**THE WORST BANK THERE EVER WAS** I walked in for an auto loan becuz I heard they were a nice place to get a loan from....I waited awhile until I was helped by a banker.... I cant remember her name but she is the large girl on the right with dark hair!!!!!.... she was on her phone when I first saw her they are all just on there cell phones and not helping!!!!!! she did not care about me and I was approved but didn't even go with her because she tried everything to rush me out the door....when I left her cube she just got right back on her cell phone!!!! oh ya her name was taylor I think..... **go somewhere else who CARES about ur business!!!** :-( read more

We went to a local well known bank location (not in a grocery store) where we currently do business and tried to open a business account. We were ignored when we walked in and had to flag someone down to help us. We were told that no one was available to open an account (3:00 on a Wednesday?) and that we would have to make an appointment to open an account on Friday. We left that bank and went directly to OnPoint. We were greeted by Jeff S. immediately and the process of opening our account was started within minutes of our arrival. It pains me to write this review. I have been with this Credit Union since 1993 - 29 years going all the way back deep into the Portland Teacher Credit Union days. It has been a great financial institution...has been. It is now a mega-institution with nearly 500,000 members and many billions in assets. With that growth comes really major alienation of long-time members - particularly in the communications area. Twice now this year I have been treated really poorly, and I am very bummed about it. Transferring one of my 2 mortgages to another membership account without bothering to tell me at all what they were doing and why they were doing it is NOT cool...not at all cool. Having their insurance services wing (a contractor it turns out) selling me substandard insurance from poorly rated (customer service / claims, not financialization) companies - Stillwater Insurance and, by association, Foremost Insurance - is also NOT cool. I have been forced to buy entirely new insurance after having uber horrific experiences with their recommended insurance providers. I am still dealing with transferring insurance because their recommended providers won't even return my phone calls regarding why they haven't cancelled my policies as I requested. Go with smaller credit unions - this one has gotten far too big to provide good service to their members. I wish I could switch, but I have 2 mortgages with these guys...far easier said than done. OnPoint needs a major management shakeup - I'll be at the member meetings from here on out fighting for change - bring back the old days when they actually cared... read more

This one is like two credit unions in one. They are on an strip mall peninsula so you can enter on either side of the building, there's an ATM on both sides, too. They don't rush you but the line moves pretty quickly. read more

Just to provide an update, this black hole never left the confines of the "dumpster fire" classification in my book, but REJOICE *cue angels singing from on high*! My years of being restrained to this ball and chain of an institution are over! I refi'd my home and left this burning wreck in my rear view mirror - never to return. I did try to do them the favor (though unwarranted) of speaking with the branch Asst. Mgr. to tell her, candidly, just how ugly and downright horribly NoPoint had treated me. She seemed incredulous and kept insisting, as they all have while I've been there, that she had no way to look up my account to verify my claims to which I said, "...And that's fine. You can take my word for it because it doesn't matter any longer. If even half of what I'm telling you right now is true, we can agree that NoPoint has failed me, dismally, as a customer." She agreed and muttered some manager-speak mumbo jumbo about how NoPoint will learn from this....blurb, blurb, blurb. Doubtful, as I have been trying to get their help for literally years with nobody lifting a finger to help me with their errors that damn near ruined my credit. Ciao, Bella! I have been a member of this credit union for nearly 10 years. I recently moved to Seattle and neglected to let them know that I had moved. I am paperless and do everything online. I noticed recently that I was being charged a monthly $5.00 service fee for having a invalid address. When I called to question this I was told that they do this because it forces people to call them to change the address. Hey OnPoint....How about an email or a phone call? This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable and I will now be closing my accounts with you. Greed is not attractive! read more

Once Onpoint took over from PTCU the customer service went in the toilet. I spend my summers in NC and I had to get a replacement debit card. You have to use the card at an ATM in order to activate it. Well, I live an hour and half from a ATM. I'm in boonies. I called the bank and asked them to activate it for me and change the pin. They refused. It's not like they can't do it, they can. I had to take 4 hours out of my day to find a fucking ATM, which then charged me $3, and not to mention the gas money! Then there was no way to change my pin like the representative at the bank told me I could do. It just pissed me off. After 30 years here, I'm ready to move on. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I just needed quarters but since I'm not a member no such luck here. It's literally exchanging money - a $20 bill for 2 rolls of quarters. The line I got was "we only have enough for our members." So I drove up to Wells Fargo, no questions asked. Got my quarters, now laundry time. Moved over to On Point after being with BankofAholes for over 20years. Never have had a problem with On point or the customer service. Teller lines are short, service is quick and unlike previous bank (from AZ), preference is not given to those that don't speak english. Ed Bonilla is the branch manager at this location and he is extremely rude. My girlfriend and my girlfriend's grandmother spoke to him about a credit card account on several occasions. On each of these occasions he was ruder than the last. I have banked with B.O.A. for 10 years and i have never been treated poorly like they have dealing with this particular "branch manager." The true irony of it is other than this one rotten individual this bank is a great institution with lots of friendly people. However the leadership of a business is important and says a lot about the business. If I was doing any type of special account id go elsewhere. read more

Like a previous poster I also had the misfortune of receiving a new debit card that had to be activated. Unlike all my previous cards during my 34 year relationship with PTCU/OnPoint this card did not come with the familiar sticker with an 800 number to activate. Nor was there a web address shown where I could do this online - instead I was directed to use it at an ATM to activate. Quite frankly, I can count the number of times I visit an ATM during a year on one hand - often with one finger; which is exactly the message OnPoint is sending me by this ridiculous procedure. Instead of a tried & true phone activation (which all my other cards still use BTW) the responsibility & cost has been pushed back on me. So today I took the time during my lunch hour to drive over to my nearest branch. Off course, all three of their ATM's were offline, so I stood in line to speak with a teller...who apparently mistook me for caveman when I asked her to activate my card. She was unable to do so & couldn't fathom why I just wouldn't go to an ATM to do so,; despite my pointing out that all their machines were down. Back in the office, I called OnPoint Customer Service & after a 14-minute wait finally got to a CSR. She was obviously related to the teller I spoke to earlier - another pregnant pause while she tried to comprehend what rock I had just crawled out from - and eventually stated there was no way for them to activate any cards over the phone. She was somewhat helpful by explaining I could use the card in any transaction which requires a PIN, so I that will be my next course of action. I don't hold out much hope however as undoubtedly the sales clerk at said upcoming purchase will be bamboozled by my trying to use their card reader as an activation device. Stay tuned for more "Adventures in Unbelievably Poor Customer Service"! **UPDATE 10/10/12** I walked over to the Home Depot next door today & used my debit card to buy some cleaning supplies. Opting for the self checkout (in case something went wrong this would spare some poor sales clerk from undeserved angst) I slid the card through the reader, entered my old PIN & processed the transaction...completely without incident! Why the sticker on the card didn't simply state "Use this card in any regular debit transaction and it will be automatically activated with your existing PIN" is beyond me. There's no need to find an ATM, no need to go to a branch, & certainly no need to call customer service! In fact, I should have been able to use it at the teller window yesterday to grab some cash as they are all equipped with a card reader. Someone needs to educate the OnPoint tellers of this fact AND rewrite the activation instructions so people who aren't banking wonks can understand. Instead of a convenient new feature that should have been practically benign to the user they undoubtedly managed to confuse the hell out of a bunch of customers with misdirection. Humbug! read more

I've always used credit unions instead of banks because they're less likely to try to screw you out of your own money. I have always been treated well here. The online banking works great. I was one of the people who used their debit card at Target before it got hacked, and they sent me a new card with a letter explaining why. They're the only bank I have heard of that sent out new cards just to be safe. So they will continue to keep my business. read more

I moved to this area and opened an online checking account. When I hadn't received any debit in card in the mail after 2 weeks, I went into the branch. It turned out they had sent it to the wrong address. Rather than giving me another card so I could access the funds I had already deposited, they made me wait over 45 minutes while checking my identity online, since I opened an "online account". After depositing a larger check, they told me it would be "available" in 2 business days. After 2 business days, they told me the funds were not available and grilled me about what type of check it was, an out-of-state check from an educational institution. Finally after speaking to customer service, she told me it would take 7 days or "their discretion" to release the funds to me, which they were not doing. I have never had such poor customer service at a financial institution. I am already looking at other banks/credit unions after 3 weeks at OnPoint. read more

After being short on cash a few times at this bank they closed my account and has me locked out of any other credit union for the next few years. I do not owe them any money and have not had an account with them for years. Person on the phone took my situation personal and talked to me like I was 5 years old. Thanks mom. WORST SERVICE EVER. I had several fraudulent charges from the same company on my Onpoint CC. First they say "we will correct this dispute within 15 days". Then once the 15 days is up and I haven't heard anything I call in. Turns out they actually give themselves 60 days to respond, not 15. Within 60 days they will mail you, I repeat mail you, a letter asking you to confirm by mail or fax that the charges you are disputing are correct. Of course they are correct, i'm the one who flagged them in the first place. The biggest problem. I never actually got that letter in the mail. I only found out about it after calling customer support wondering what was going on. Now they are saying the can't take care of the charges because I didn't respond to a letter I never got. BOTTOM LINE: what's the point of a CC if the company behind it won't guarantee against fraudulent charges. Also, they are not part of the BBB so you have no agency to complain to. read more

This is the biggest credit union in Oregon, and continues to grow out, now with a couple/few branches or so in Washington State. This is a big fish, and eventually, will begin to gobble down the little fish or smaller credit unions. The people there are nice, but I question their intentions and even ethics. My freind told me he went in there to get money out of his account. The teller asked him if he wanted to sign up for their new visa card, he told them that he just lost his job and couldnt afford one. They told him that it wouldnt cost him anything if he didnt use it, but that he could use it for overdraft protection. He still said he didnt want it, because the temptation would be there to use it and credit cards are bad anyway. She kept insisting he sign up for one, so he finally agreed. He didnt qualify for one, but they pulled his credit report and screwed up his score. They didnt seem to really care about his personal life, all they wanted was him to sign that app. Someone there, probably management, must be getting an incentive for it. read more
