We were looking for a sectional for our new apartment. Told the sales guy we needed it to be 8-9 by 5 ish and we wanted to spend around 1,000. I knew we'd have to spend probably a couple hundred more but I also knew he'd show things for 1400 if I said 1,000 (I've worked in sales). He walked us to an area and said look here and walked away. We found a couch we liked so my husband went to find a sales person and it was him again. He came over and struggled to show us how the pull out bed worked on the couch but finally got it. We were discussing how we wanted to but it I literally was saying to my husband "yeah I think this would be perfect let's get it" and the sales guy said "I'll be back in a second" and left for a good 10 minutes. We see he's helping another couple look at couches and doesn't even look our way. We wait a few more minutes and start walking out. The sales women sees us leaving and calls the guy over. We told her he walked away from us twice and we were good. He followed us outside the store and was like "wait" but we said "no it's ok you seem busy". We went right next door and bought a couch at Ashley's furniture. Just an annoying situation cause if he stayed with us more the 5 minutes the store would've had an easy sale. We were in and out of Ashley's in 15-20 minutes with the couch ordered and paid for. Please treat all customers equally, you never know who's actually going to buy something. read more

I ordered a sofa and was promised a delivery date. I had to wait a month. I took the day off from work. When the day arrived, nothing happened. I called multiple different numbers, some of which just kept ringing. I was finally informed that my delivery was pushed back, without informing me, or contacting me to check my schedule. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The customer service rep stated that Value City knew there were massive delivery schedule errors, but that never contacted their customers. So Value City was just going to let me sit here all day with no notification. read more

With an old-looking sign out front and a name that implies "cheapness," I didn't expect much from Value City Furniture, but I was SO wrong. The first time we went in, we didn't actually make it much past the entrance before walking back out. All of the furniture pieces they had at the very front seemed far too expensive for a place promising "value." But the second time, we walked around the whole store and couldn't BELIEVE the amazing selection they had. The prices fluctuate heavily; there are pieces as low as ~$300 all the way to over ~$2000, so it really is worth it to take your time looking around the whole store, because you'll likely find something in your price range. We ended up finding our dream couch here, after looking at many other furniture stores, and we absolutely love it. And everybody who comes to visit thinks it's the best couch ever, too! We ultimately ordered it online, but we were delighted to see that we could enter the name of the associate who helped us in the store! The delivery process was unbelievably smooth. Their team had it into our tiny second-floor apartment living room and assembled in less than 15 minutes. They did an incredible job and I'd highly recommend Value City Furniture for a smooth and simple furniture-buying experience. read more

My boyfriend and I were beyond excited about picking out furniture for our first apartment together! We walked into Value City Furniture in Henrietta and were immediately greeted by a salesman, Bob. We started perusing through couches and dining room tables. We came across a farmhouse style table, that was paired with 4 chairs and a bench. I was in love but didn't want to commit. Yet. We left the store but came back ten minutes later because I couldn't get the dining room table set out of my head! Bob helps us again and I told him that if I'm approved for the credit card I'm buying this table! I asked him if it would be able to be delivered to our new address on OCTOBER 15th, six weeks away and he replied that it would not be a problem. We can not move into our new apartment until the 15th of October. I asked multiple times if the table was currently available because I know A lot of furniture stores are back ordered due to Covid-19. I fill out the credit application, get approved and then Bob tells us there's an issue. Apparently the table, the only thing in the store I was interested in, was NO LONGER IN STOCK and is discontinued. They offer for us to take the display for a one hundred dollar "discount" but we'd have to take the table today. Not only would I have to pay to transport the table because it was already assembled but we' have to store it somewhere for SIX WEEKS while we wait to move into our apartment. The giddy smiled disappeared off of my face as we left Value City Furniture feeling discouraged and upset. Not only did we waste our time and do not have the table of my dreams in our possession but I lost points on my credit score for a hard inquiry because of your company. I can't even use the credit card to improve my credit score because I couldn't buy the table I wanted, which was the whole reason I applied for financing in the first place. I will never recommend Value City Furniture to any of my family or friends, and don't count on my boyfriend and I furnishing our apartment with anything from your store. read more

I'm not an avid reviewer. These days, you can't buy anything without finding a request for a review from the retailer. This review is from the heart and not requested. Ron, the Store Manager, went well above and beyond to help during a particularly difficult time for me and it was so very appreciated. He offered me help by simply letting me know about a special financing offer available to me. During a recent move, my bed was broken and it is a substantial bed with slats and rails that I bought in 1998. The movers tried to fix it, but were unable to. I called the Original Store, left a message, but never got a call back. (I didn't expect a warranty). I tried again, was put through to a salesman who told me there was nothing to be done. I know it was a long time ago, but I bought 5 Thomasville Natural Cherry items that day. $$$$ So, I called and spoke with Ron about the "problem", asking him if he could help and he told me "one way or another we'll get it fixed". He ended up coming to my home and fixed the bed! I did not buy that bed at Value City. And that bed was purchased in 1998. Value City is not the Value City of years ago. Not by a long shot. They are now at a level equal to the other good furniture stores here in Rochester, especially when it comes to their customer service! Excellent!! In the last year and a half, I've purchased a beautiful Sofa, an amazing Armoire (it spoke to me...ladies, you know what I mean), two sets of Beauty Rest Black Hybrid mattresses. I wasn't happy with the first mattress...too soft. It was replaced. A special Yelp goes out to their Delivery Team, and if I remembered all their names I would list them...but, Mike and Mark helped put my broken bed on the floor, took the broken rail to Ron (as he requested) and even suggested they take the slats back to the store to have supports put on them...no charge. VCF has great employees, products and customer service. We started with Jessica Daniels and Aaron Lewis at the Greece store. Both were very helpful and knowledgeable answering all our questions. Jessica prepared an order summary and when we returned the next day, Aaron completed the sale. Major and Larry at the Henrietta store provided excellent service, carefully bringing our furniture into the house. They also guided us how to report some marks that were on one of the pieces after taking pictures. Very helpful. Joene at the Greece store is now helping us with our complaint and so far has been very helpful listening to our concerns and trying to resolve the issue. Thank you all so very much! read more

What a GREAT shopping experience. I was in dire need of a new coffee table and shopped at every furniture store on Hylan Drive and this be far was one of the best buying experiences I ever had. My Salesman Brent Dumbauld was so professional and treated me like I was the most important customer in the store when all I was buying was a coffee table. The coffee table I bought was hundreds of dollars less than any of the other stores and exactly what I needed. The service was spectacular and I can't recommend Brent or Value City Highly enough. One of the best shopping experiences for furniture I ever had. I would give them 10 stars if I could. This store has a pretty wide selection of modern and traditional furniture at reasonable prices. I know....I know...You're thinking it's just a knock-off cheapo store because of the name. But honestly, i think this store is a bit of a hidden treasure. They even offer a concrete look alike table, which is very modern, and something I haven't seen anywhere else in Rochester, only online. I have never purchased anything here before so cannot speak to the quality, but I have come looking a few times for items for my home and was surprised. 10 years ago I purchased a dinning room table here and was told it would be delivered within a month. After a few weeks I called to inquire about delivery and they said it would be several more months. I ended up canceling my order and getting a refund. This year I decided to give them a second chance. Same exact thing. Told 4 weeks now it's 3 months. Getting a refund again. I understand that delivery scheduling is out of their hands but they need to be more accurate which estimated delivery dates at the time of sale. I don't see myself giving them a third chance. The one positive I can say is that they issued the refund with no hassle. read more

I buy all my furniture from both stores in Rochester ny and I purchased a very expensive mattress and was told they stand behind any warranty issues low and behold two years later my back starts to hurt and I am not over weight called the store and was told there service guy walked out and they do not have a service guy at this time I told them this is unacceptable so they sent assistant manger out he took a so called measurement and told my wife I would hear from them in about 48 hrs . I did not receive a phone call so I called them and was told it sinking like that is normal . I called customer service and was told they can not do anything about it . While the furniture isn't luxiourious or high-end it's not cheap either. I bought a sectional for $600 - yes $600 and it's beautiful. I have 2 crazy animal-like kids as well and it still looks excellent after 2 1/2 yrs. I am a fan of this store now and the people there are very knowledgable and they don't try to push you into buying something. They do push the warranties, which i bought and I can honestly say the company they do the warranties with, isn't very reputable. They have no phones or website. The only way to contact is via email. That wasn't very good, but the value city company was great. I also have another quirk, was that since the couch was such a good deal, it took 3 weeks for them to come in. read more

We walked in and were quickly greeted by Bob. He walked us through the show room and got us exactly where we needed to be. The prices beat their neighbor competitors by about $2k, they threw in free delivery, had a great financing option and got us set up and out the door within the hour. Bob has excellent job knowledge, showed us out furniture in several color options but most importantly he wasn't pushy. He let us roam and sit and measure without bothering us but was easily accessible when we had some questions. He made the sale so stress free and I highly recommend stopping in and meeting him. read more

They took all my information, then could not tell me my balance? Altinently after 15 mins they told me that I just would have to come in store. I purchased a bed and desk which was delivered a few days ago. The bed arrived with scratches and the desk had 2 places where the wood was chipped. I contacted the store within 5 minutes of the delivery men's departure and sent pictures. I was told they would get back to me and that they needed to speak with the manager. It has been almost a week and still no response from the store on how this will be resolved. I have called 2 more times to follow up but I am not getting any answers. When you spend $1,300 on a product you don't expect a damaged product. We also have a 2nd issue with the bed which arrived with no slats. It says in the description of the product that only a mattress is needed. When I saw the bed in the store the bed had slats. I was told at the time a bunkie was recommended so that the mattress will be even. This is not a requirement in the description and it should be stated that you need to purchase a board. The bed I received just has an open box underneath. When I called the store to report this the sales person blew me off telling me he had no idea if the twin bed would come with slats or not. He recommended that I purchase a bunkie. My husband visited the store and spoke with CS to explain why we needed slats. Again we were told they would get back to us. Even with the board, one side is higher than the other without the slats. Again we are waiting for the store to tell if we will receive slats. We are currently using coolers in the open space just so that my son can use his bed. The furniture is beautiful and offers wonderful storage and we would have been very happy with the bed if these issues were resolved. If it hadn't been damaged I would give the product itself 5 stars. It is the customer service and communication that is lacking here. I will not be purchasing furniture at this store again. read more

Called and spoke with a supervisor (Trina) who was rude, dismissive and couldn't get off the phone fast enough. Never will I shop at this store again!! read more

I purchased a mattress from Value city... bonus - it came with a free 32" tv from best buy!!! My salesman Joe D. said all we had to do was wait for the certificate to come in the mail in about 10 days. Well I purchased it July 2nd, today is July 31st, I am still on the phone every day trying to get tv. Apparently they do not send the certificate in the mail. Value city is supposed to send in the paperwork (which they did not). I called after 2 weeks of not seening certificate in the mail, and spoke w/Joe. He kept telling me they were "working on it" which is sales talk for "I messed up and I have no clue what to do now". So I just got off of the phone with the Value city manager Kelly, all she could say was how sorry she was. They have not offered to help in any way shape or form, and here I am still without a tv and making my daily calls to best buy to try to get one. BEWARE of how they try to get you to buy.........definitely never going in that store again. Very poor customer service. read more
