I had heard about Ollie's and also seen flyers in the mail about them, I was curious. Since I was going to Best Buy I decided to stop and check it out. To me it was like a overgrown Dollar Tree. This store had quite a few things to offer but for more than a dollar. They had discontinued products, close out items etc.. And I must say they had a variety of things. From kitchen appliances, to some clothing, cleaning products, car items, sporting goods, food, and books. Books galore! The store didn't appear to be real clean, the floors were dirty and several items were cluttered. But if you looked closely you could find a bargain. It's definitely worth a stop, but I would check a flyer or call the store and ask if they do have the item you want before hiking over there.

I don't quite know what to say about this place. My husband wanted to check it out. It's like a close out/overstock/grandma's basement vibe. If you have a good eye you can find some treasures but.. always a but. Some prices are excellent on let's say dried herbs at .97 cents but they don't have all of them. They have completed close outs that they got on Rachel Ray Plates and etc price as marked. They had a Chefman Coffee Grinder $9.99 always good to have another and you can grind your herbs. They also have Air Fryers, Instant Pots and whatever but you can get the same prices at Wal-Mart if other places. They have clothing and rugs (some were pretty attractive oriental carpet wise) they have some foods, beauty products, stuff for the garden. Books, books, books or yea and Tiki Torches! I give them a 3.5 it smells like grandmas basement. But like I said if you have a trained eye you can find some good deals. They share a lot with Kohl's, I'll be back for the extra coffee grinder I believe.

This place had a lot of cost efficient things. I did find small items at low prices I needed

Went to the opening and they have a good variety of items for the home and some surprises so it's worth your time to see what they have.

Many times I peruse their book section for gifts for my and my husband's coworkers and their children.

Four stars for the selection, but honestly I'd rate it much lower for the smell. As someone with severe asthma, I just couldn't stay in this store for very long. Just not my cup of tea, but might be yours. They had a very large selection of a wide range of used books, and it was very well organized and pretty tidy compared to other used bookstores. This was one of my stops on the Rochester Book Crawl, so I might not have otherwise explored this shop. The bookseller was very nice and helpful.

They sell really quality literature on a variety of topics, especially music (fitting, given the nearby Eastman School of Music), and also including religion, fiction, technology and more. There's definitely a theme of rare, old, obscure and intriguing books on all subjects - the main running theme seems to be whatever is genuinely interesting, by any definition. Also, although there's no seating, I do appreciate that the place is not overly stuffed to the brim with books and doesn't feel overwhelming, but rather, pleasantly full of options to peruse and explore. The owner is always very nice; I (at least) once had a great conversation with her. I haven't bought a lot here, but I once purchased a beautiful book of Saul Steinberg's artwork for a relatively good price. It's well worth browsing the shelves here, maybe preceded or followed by a visit to Java's Café on Gibbs. Buy something if you can, and support a local treasure!

Having completed the Rochester Book Crawl, I can confidently say this is one of the best bookstores…read morein Rochester. They have a great range in book selection, lots of unique bookish merch, and place emphasis on inclusivity. They have mandatory masking on Wednesdays, which I think is a great idea and is a super inclusive way to make book browsing safer. Prices are fair, and the booksellers are helpful and nice. I've had a good time during both of my visits and definitely plan to come back!

Books are arranged in a way that's interesting and flows and incorporates the other items they sell - art, incense, gems, bookmarks, tea, pins, pens, stickers, and other odds and ends. You're not going to find a deep discount on most of the items - your word discount is likely to be your best bet there - but you will find a solid selection of popular titles and off-beat titles you're likely to be able to be recommended based on interest in those popular titles. I could spend several paychecks in here at a time. Expect to spend bookstore money here but leave with things you're excited to read. The friendly readers behind the counter are going to happily discuss your purchases and help you find what you're looking for. I will be back, much to my wallet's chagrin,
