I ordered a sofa and love seat. The sofa was in stock but there were no more love seats. The manager agreed to sell me the floor model at $100 off. That said, they ended up charging me full price. I didn't balk, because I liked the set and needed it on my time. Delivery was scheduled for today. I got the sofa but no love seat. I talked to 3 different people with no resolution and a promise of a call before closing. Never got a call. Plus, the delivery team damaged my door while bringing the sofa into the house. So now I've paid for something I didn't get at a price higher than what was promised and incurred damage to my newly remodeled house. And it's crickets. Never again. read more

I think establishments like this are at risk of only collecting poor reviews because it's easier to complain than to praise. Also, people go to a restaurant or boutique 4 or 5 times a month, but they may only buy furniture every 4 or 5 years. I'm not saying that the negative reviews aren't valid. I believe that they are. I just don't think they tell the entire story. So, I'm here to tell mine. I relocated to Indy from NY about 10 years ago. I moved from a smaller rental to a home I bought here. In NY, I had one sofa and chair that had lived it's life, so we left it by the curb on moving day. (That's totally a thing.) We walked into Value City and bought three living room suites, a dining room set, and a dinette set with some additional barstools. Delivery was timely and efficient. In fact, one of the pieces I bought would not go into my basement! The steps take a 45 degree turn and it wouldn't work at all. The delivery guys were great. They said, "We'll take it back and you can come in and pick something else." So, that's what we did and, when we arrived, one of the men on the delivery was getting ready to leave for day, but he walked through the store with us pointing out things that would work. Over 10 years later, almost everything is in great shape. This well exceeded what we expected for the price. We are looking to replace some pieces and, naturally, went into Value City. We met up with a great person named Kelli. She wasn't pushy and she showed us exactly what we asked for. I ended up ordering the furniture online. It was a breeze. It's supposed to be here in mid-February, but I won't be surprised it's late due to pandemic related supply chain issues. I'll up update my review after delivery and installation. I'm hopeful for the same exceptional service. I'll be candid if it is or of it isn't, but that's in the hands of Value City now. read more

I'll start off by saying that the moment I walked in the door, someone rushed to greet me! Thank you!!! That's so important to me, especially if I decide to make a purchase. Walking through the store they have on display, beautiful bedroom, living room, and various accent pieces. If you're in the market... check it out! Unfortunately though, that's not what I was looking for. I came into the store looking for an office desk. My take, their desk display should probably be removed from the floor, or they should have the pieces replaced. There were a couple of desks that I really liked, but the moment I saw the nicks, fingerprints, and dents on the furniture, I knew this would not to the store to buy from. I love the credenza I purchased. I had to visit the store in the store was very nice and I was surprised to see they had what was actually posted on the website. I think the delivery charge was way too high when you can order from Amazon or Wayfare and get it for free. I will say the delivery service was excellent. I recently bought two new mattress and box springs from value city furniture in merrillville Indiana had paid this off paid for delivery fee and haule away fee what I didn't get was the service and set up and haule away for old mattress and box springs. The service men damaged my home was late (4:15) yelling and screaming at me where's my money and left the two old box springs and mattress on the side of my building were I was contacted by my hoa they need to be removed or I will be getting a fine if I need to pay more money or the fine someone will be getting this bill! I am writing to hopefully get a resolution to a complaint regarding staff that works for your office in Iselin NJ. I am writing about two separate incidents within a few months. On August 5th 2021 I had arranged an delivery for  a box spring/mattress for my elderly parent on August 5th the delivery man called and threatened to leave delivery location because he was early and didn't want to wait for us to meet them at my parents because he said he had other deliveries.  Customer service did tell them to wait but they were extremely rude. The second incident was September 25th 2021. The delivery man used profanity and was extremely rude toward my spouse not knowing  that I understood the words in their language and he also threw plastic from mattress/box spring all over my front lawn of house. My husband call customer service and they hung up on him. I call back and reached a agent name Carly who was also unprofessional and refused to give out contact information for Corporate office or her supervisor. She acted as if my family was an inconvenience when we were trying to pay for our order. So we went into the store on Saturday October 28th, 2023. The manager Nathan Mitchell is so rude and didn't want to speak with customers. Once he finally came over was absolutely rude. We never could get an answer for a price of the bedroom suite we came back in to purchase. We was told at first that we could get 10 percent discount and do the 36 months financing. Once we spoke to Nathan he said absolutely not. I said so you would rather lose about $12,000 in sales for a bedroom set. He said yes and he didn't care that he was also losing a sale for 3 more bedrooms, a loft , and dining room furniture. Nathan Mitchell lost our business. Plus he also lost the company money plus the salesman money. I feel bad for Pete and Larry who have to deal with Nathan the manager on a daily basis. He said he didn't care because he has managed the store for 4 years. I have never in my life met someone in management so hateful and rude. We went to Ashley home store and purchased a new bedroom set along with a new mattress and box springs. They treated us with the utmost respect. We spent over $9000 in their store, delivery has been pushed back twice. We receive 2 night stand as part of the order and there's an issue with one of them. I called the store the same day of the delivery and was told someone would call be back that same day-fast forward to Monday-I had to call the store because I did not receive a call. I was told I would need to email pictures which I did and would receive a call in 48-72 hours. It's now 4 days later and call once again. I contacted customer service and spoke to Mya who informed me that my email that was sent wasn't even open yet! I asked to speak to the manager Katrina and she told Mya to let me she was busy and couldn't speak even thought she was sending messages back and forth...she then told Mya to tell me I could call corporate because she refused to give me her last name. My wife and I were shopping for a new couch. Nothing fancy....just something that would work well for us since I am disabled and need something easy to operate. The salesman who helped us at the store was courteous, polite, professional and helpful. We were in and out with a couch ordered QUICKLY! When it was delivered today by Curtis and David...I was even more impressed. They went above and beyond to help me out getting the couch placed and another one moved out of the way. My fiancé and I were in this store on Sunday May 17 2020 and purchased a bed and box spring, we were told first it would be available on Tuesday then it was pushed back until Wednesday.. So here it is Wednesday and they are now telling us it will be Wednesday the 27th.. Needless to say they will lie to you just to make a sale. Had we been told from the start it would be a week and a half out we would have never set up payment to come out of our bank acct. this Saturday the 23rd. For a product we don't even have Nor would we be this frustrated, I just can't stand being lied to and nobody take ownership instead just point fingers at everyone else with no resolution. VCF is a horrible place.... they I bought a $2000 sofa and added the protection plan for up to 6 years....after 2 years the sofa began fading.... leather cracking....and seats are settling done....I called the protection plan agency and VCF and non of them have honored there protection agreement.... stay away..... their furnitures may just look good but after few month you will feel ashamed of getting a friend home. We purchased the Mario power reclining sectional in August of 2018. Beautiful couches, our saleswoman was great to work with. In May of 2019 one of power recliners stopped working, a technician came out to fix it. He didn't have the part so he said it would take 6-8 weeks to get the part in. It's now almost 9 weeks and they still haven't received the part. I have called for the last 3 weeks to see the status of the part and have been given the run around every time. They said it comes from over seas and it can take some time. I have asked for a replacement section and they are fighting me on that. So frustrating to not be able to use that part of the couch. I placed an order for a bedroom suite at the Greenwood, Indiana location in April, 2021. I was told that delivery would be July 15th. I received my bed August 4th. The delivery of my dresser was supposed to be same day as my bed delivery but the delivery guy said my dresser was on the truck but a leg was broken so he couldn't deliver it. Said I would get a call about re-scheduling delivery when he finished his route that day around 4:00. Call never came. I went into my local store (Plainfield, Indiana) on August 11th & spoke with the Manager at the time. He promised to look for my items at another store & to keep my paperwork in his "basket" as to follow up with me weekly. I've received 1 phone call from him since. I called last week (August 24th) to see if the delivery date listed online of September 9th is still good & was told they could move the delivery date up to September 4th. On September 2nd I received a call from the Plainfield store that my delivery date is pushed back to September 7th because they are waiting on my dresser. I called the Plainfield store today (September 3rd) to see if I could pick up my nightstands & wait on dresser delivery. The female that I initially talked to told me my nightstands weren't there they won't be in until the 7th. I proceeded to ask her some questions to get clarification on my things (which I've been paying for since April) & she slams me on hold! I guess this was her way of hanging up on me!! I'll NEVER purchase from VCF again. I've purchased thousands of dollars of merchandise from them over the years but they will NOT get another cent out of me after I pay off this bedroom suite. Don't trust Value City!! Absolutely frustrated and unhappy! I ordered furniture from them last July (2021), and was suppose to get both pieces in just a few months. I got 1 of 2 pieces a few months after the order and was told the other piece would be in December. I asked customer service about compensation for my time and the delay, since they could not fulfill my order as initially indicated, and was told they would discuss that once I got my other piece. December came and again another delay to January, and I then finally got my other piece, January 2022. As for fair compensation for my time, they began discussion and then back tracked and lied about any discussions and compensation. I have all their communications via email to prove what they said, and lied about it. Consumer protection laws exist for a reason. Looks like Value City will find this out the hard way. read more

I needed box springs and they were priced much higher than anywhere else, but I added them because I was already having the dresser delivered. They delivered the items but the dresser had a huge gauge on the top of it so I refused the dresser. I called the store to explain that I wanted the delivery fee taken off because I did not need delivery of box springs I could have put those in my SUV. I have been trying unsuccessfully to track an order that has been purchased in September , when you reach out to the contact line no one will call you back . I have stayed on hold for over 4 hours . I was originally told my order would arrive on 12/24 and nothing had arrived . I made contact after a two hour wait and told no it is not coming until the 12/31 I was told on one call 12/30. Then I receive a call from a delivery driver on 12/30? saying he was 45 minutes out on 12/30 and no one showed up but was told it was supposed to come on 12/31. I tried to follow up and the office is closed today for training . I was told that I would receive 4 pieces with one piece on back order until 1/14/21 and when I called and waiting another 2 hours I was told that I will receive 3 pieces with an item coming on January 14 and an item coming in March . I have never experienced such poor service with any company. I am trying to get in contact with their corporate office but very difficult . We purchased furniture in the middle of Nov. We decided to pick it up at the store so we could have it in time for Christmas. Unfortunately due to Covid it was delayed. We received no phone call or email (like they said they did). Now, the furniture will not be available until Jan 6, 2021. We now have no way of delivering it like we wanted to. I have been on hold a numerous times, disconnected after waiting on hold and there has been times when I am not able to even speak with a person and when I finally reached the sales person that sold us the furniture, he dismissed me and said he would have to call me back, which he never did. So I was so excited when my husband went to pick my new bed, Which to be honest I was a little skeptical cause you would expect that a 3,000 bed would be delivered. When he arrived the first thing that I noticed is that he was carrying something with blue blankets wrapped around it. My husband told me it was the headboard, that they opened at the store because the box was "damaged" it turns out they didn't inspect it very well because the headboard had a big crack on it. As we keep opening boxes and lot of pieces were busted and cracked. On top of that, the mattress had a hole in the bag and where the hole was it was stained. At this point I was infuriated and we decided to call customer service, these people are the worst! Supposedly the mattress that we bought is discontinued and we need to bring it back and pick out another mattress. Anyways, I called the "Manager" and at the end, the best deal they gave us was a credit of $80 in the store. And sent a tech person to clean the stain on the new brand mattress. I thought well, maybe they will bring us the replacements for the damaged parts.. But that's not the case, we needed to return it to store and exchange it for new parts. However when they delivered it the couch was missing its legs!! So I now have a couch in my living room sitting on the floor. I have never been more infuriated than I was with their cap customer service. It wasn't the sales people (they are paid to be nice). I ordered a sectional and even opened a value city credit card and they didn't deliver it the day the said they were. I called and they blamed me and scheduled it for Tuesday. Monday (today) I just got a text saying it would be delivered on Wednesday! The manager of shipping and delivery was extremely rude and stated "well that's the only day we can do it so" . I explained that I was told it would be Tuesday and he literally didn't care and when I told him to just refund my money for all of it he stated "ok sounds good". I would give this store 0 stars if possible. I purchased a sleeper sofa back in November and finally got it in February after several delays of their expected delivery and it arrived damaged. They argued on the phone with me when I called to report the damage saying I was wrong with where the damage was located, then finally admitted they were wrong, but here we are over a month later with 4 times of having rescheduled appointmenta for repairs and several miscommunications with the store employees and noone has been out to see if it can even be repaired or if they need to order a new one. Hello, I am writing to you as a unsatisfied customer. I recently visited your store to check on what I thought was my last payment on my acceptance now payment plan. I spoke with Juliann who stated that she was new, and had to call Vicky from another store. Vicky explained to me that my 120 days plan had rolled over, and I now have to occurred late fees and I still have 42 payments left. I informed this was never told to me and I need another options Vicky was rude and condescending ; she down played the Acceptance plan as if it was a low way to pay. I have never been more embarrassed . She gave me no other option . She refuse to finish our conversation and advised Juliane to continue to explain a process that Juilann was new to learning. I've order several sets of furniture from you and I would have never choose this option that leaves me to pay 42 more weeks with any product. In these trying times its not good business to treat and mis- leading a customer in this way. I would have chosen a layaway option without fees and finance if I had known upfront this process . I ordered furniture from Ashley furniture and due to delays I went to value city to question delivery. We desperately needed a mattress as my husband could not sleep without his CPAP machine. We could not move until we got a mattress. I told the salesman a mattress was a necessity. He guaranteed me it was already in stock and would be no problem. We would have before aug . I canceled the Ashley order and re-ordered everything at value city. Even though their furniture is sub quality, I felt getting something there quicker was more important. When we went up to pick up the furniture we were advised that some of it was "lost" and that the mattress was not in, The guarantee that it was in stock apparently didn't matter. I was told in that it would be ready on the third. Nobody called me on the third and when I called the store no one would answer. Emory also ignored my texts . I finally went in on the sixth and Emory advised me it's been sitting there for days,. In his words it's been "rolling around".Told me it was not their fault that they were wrong about delivery and that I picked up what they had so I should have known better . When I tried to explain that we had already got the truck and paid the drivers, Emory seemed to think that was not his problem. He had also told me that if I did not pick it up, they would put it back in stock.Continued to tell me that I was aware that all the furniture was not in. Would not listen to me questioning why I was guaranteed it was in stock but it really wasn't. It comes down to the salesman at value city will promise you anything to make a sale. Now we have to pay someone again to load a straight truck and take our furniture to Illinois. There was so much of it that was not there the first time we picked it up, that we can't just put it in the van.I won't ever buy anything from there again. It's junk anyway. When we picked up the couch and dresser, the employee rolled the couch onto the ground and the dresser was damaged when we got home. Trash cheap furniture. When a manager doesn't know that they will not deliver 10 miles across the state line, he needs to not advise the customer that he will. He needs to research before he makes a promise. Being rude and telling me that I was aware not all the furniture was in was completely disregarding that the salesman lied to get a sale. Because of this delay, we had to pay $800 rent to continue to live in our home plus an $800 mortgage in the new home. The $250 credit just doesn't seem right . Value City has beautiful furniture but there furniture has very very poor quality, everything i have ever bought from value city i mean everything i have had problems and still having problems and having your furniture under warranty means nothing to them because they know there furniture will start to peel thats why the warranty does not cover peeling its sad that you pay your money then have so many problems with their merchandise then they send their service people out when you have a problem their famous words after they see the furniture is you will here from some one in two days two days turn into two weeks0 then you have to call the service people to explain the problem and then the waiting game begins its just too much i have never in my life been this stressed out buying anything my problems are still not solved my next step is to talk to someone from corporate maybe they can resolve my problem im not sure but I hope they can.I am one unhappy customer read more

Such a ridiculous costumer service !!! We bought most of the furniture from value city at 82nd street but unfortunately turns out that Plainfield is our delivery store. Sofa set(2 sofaset and 2 armchairs) we were delivered were off in color , one is white and one is cream . But they have been giving us run around to fix the issue. It's almost a month now and our problem is still not fixed. Two stores keep playing tags claiming they don't have control on distribution center and they are from different batches . Plainfield store manager( I guess bob) was upright rude stating " we can't match your sofa exactly , if it's off shade or two we can't keep ordering and batch u got is going to be discontinued .So I don't know what you want to do" well if value city is selling us furniture they should stand behind it why do they want us to settle with sofa that don't even match. Ordered two brand new couches with both sides reclining and a middle console. DELIVERED with one console completely busted. When we called to get it replaced they informed us that they WOULD NOT replace only fix, because they said if they were to replace every single brand new piece of furniture that was delivered to the buyer/customer broken or damaged that they would go out of business..That is completely unacceptable!! We did not go to a second time around store we bought brand new and wanted brand new delivered. They refuse to replace only fix with a board nailed to the busted parts. I don't know how anyone can remain in business treating customers this way. We have purchased furniture enough to know when we are getting scammed. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!! They took our money and delivered us a used busted broken item and would not replace. Be prepared to need an attorney if you decide to give this furniture store your business. I will never deal with these DA's again, how hard is it to make sure that you have something in stock before you sell it? How this company has stayed in business this long is beyond me, when the items were delivered the foot board had a obvious dent in it, no problem take it back and get another one, not that damn hard, screwed that up. They didn't have the mattress that had been paid for with the delivery, rather then calling ahead and letting us know so we could cancel that order and go somewhere else we are told that we have to wait until the 20th doesn't work for us as company is coming in on the 18th from Germany. Then told by "customer service" that they will up grade the mattress so it will be here on the 17th then the same person called back saying neither the foot board or the mattress will be here until the 20th, talked to the manager he assures us everything is going to be delivered on Sat as the first call stated. Then on Sat they call up and say nothing is being delivered because the weather---it is a high of 41 degrees, here is a hint if your drivers can't operate a delivery truck in 41 degree weather because of a little rain then you need to fire someone, Hell the contractor here from Fishers is driving a damn Ford Focus. I would tell them to come pick up their crap, but judging by the response below I would never get my money back. Should have kept with the Amish better quality and when they say they are going to do something or be somewhere they don't make excuses, they do what they say. This place is the worst furnature company to work with! We made a sizable monetary order and paid for the best shipping but this company could not even get the most simple part of the order correct. We first ordered a bed frame to fit our king size bed and they sent us a queen size that wouldn't even fit my daughter is queen size bed. So then they left us without any bed frame for 3 weeks and left it up to us to order a new one through a different company because they were not willing to properly make the order correct. We also ordered two large reclining couch sets and had them delivered today one was correct but was defective and the other was the incorrect color. Making a phone call to the company asking for them to properly make it right and to rush the order through so my family had a place to sit, they said they were unable to do anything until they can confirm the color and said they would have to reorder a new set which would take up to 3 months. There is no customer service whatsoever nor do they even care that my family is out of anywhere to sit at this point. We are beyond frustrated and upset to the fact that we wish we would never have gotten rid of our old couches in the first place. I definitely do not recommend this company to order any furniture through due to their irresponsibility and lack of organization to properly make things right with their orders. This place is an absolute joke. Do yourself a favor and don't buy from them. I bought a $3,000 mattress here, when they delivered it they destroyed the exterior light to my home. First they refered me to their driver manager, he did nothing. Today I found out he doesn't even work their anymore. Then they tried to pawn it off on their repair man, who again did nothing. I've made atleast 15 phone calls on the matter in two months and they have done absolutely nothing to resolve the problem. Talked to their "manager" Nick in person today and the guy is an absolute squirrel. Went and hid in his office like a small child as I called the corporate office to call in the complaint.
