Waited for over an hour before they even started my oil change - I was only the second person in line. This happens every time I go, I'm always there for well over an hour. They are overpriced and when I went to do my own oil change at one point the filter was on there so tight we had to use three different attachments to unscrew it. Valvoline only knows how to do one thing, and that's over-tighten whatever they get their hands on. Both of the differential check plugs were way too tight I broke the ratchet I was using trying to get one off. Not to mention the oil filter, I had to hammer a metal pry bar through the oil filter so I could get it off because it was so tight. If you care about your vehicle and the longevity of it I would not go here. If you are in need of an oil change and can't wait any longer they'll do but just know to might have to pay for major repairs as a result of their work. read more

Brought our Mini Cooper Clubman in for an oil change and AC charge. AC service went well. The oil change is another story. Long story short I had the check engine light come on with only 60 miles on the new oil. Since the car was in Bellingham I took it to my regular mechanic SK Motorsport. They found a missing seal on the drain plug which was leaking oil and a damaged seal on the oil filler cap. They replaced the seal and cap and then changed my oil again with synthetic. I called Valvoline and spoke to an assistant manager. He took my info but I've yet to hear from his manager. I will not return and suggest that anyone else just drive to another place that would be familiar with your car and the required parts when servicing. read more

I would give zero star if possible. I've been here for oil changes many times. When I brought in my motorhome this morning and I saw that they had the It large bay closed. So I lined up to one of the two regular bays. When it was my turn, I asked the tech if the large bay was open. He ignored me and just started directing me in. It was a tight fit. After the oil change two guys directed me out. They directed me into a side post which damaged my vehicle. After calling my insurance company and filing my claims with both my insurance and the shop, I received a call from Valvoline customer care line and was told that , after their thoroug investigation they determined that I ignored their directions and ran my vehicle into the wall. The three guys involved at the shop the two techs who guided me into the wall and the manager, Ashton, decided to concoct a story that I ignored their direction and ran myself into the wall. The customer care rep., when asked directly, said she has to backup the local investigation. To add insult to this injury; they shorted me one quart of oil (so I had to add one more quart after I got home and checked the oil level) and one of the guilty tech had the audacity to say "Have a nice day!" as I was leaving the shop. Just got a response from their customer care. To the Customer Care Person who responded. Yes. I watched your crew's investigation; three guys (two of them who caused the incident and "a manager" who was in the office. I'm submitting the dash cam video to my insurance company clearly showing your tech directing to go until the camera capture the soubd of crunch. You should have trusted your customer. Instead of covering a few hundred dollars of deductible for me, you now lost a long-term customer and gained someone who is very motivated to spread the word. I've never really been this angry with a service provider before. read more

I had the best experience at Valvoline in Ferndale, WA. The customer service was excellent. Everyone was super friendly and worked well together as a team. They took the time to explain everything to me and asked all the important questions having to do with my vehicle. They checked all lights and blinkers and adjusted the air in my tires. All of the employees appeared to enjoy their job. Having one bad attitude can have a negative effect on the whole bunch. It could be a trickle down from good management. Needed an oil change before a trip and decided to drive by on my way to Bellingham to get it done. Turns out they're open on sundays and had no wait! The oil change was super fast, I didn't need to even need to get out of my car. In like 7 minutes I was out of there. Being in the car meant I heard them communicate each step to verify it was done which was nice. They seemed really thorough and never pushy about upwelling things. To top it off the price was really reasonable, less then most of their competitors. Definitely coming back again! read more

My wife brought in her car twice for an oil change. First time they forgot to tighten the oil pan bolt and it leaked in our driveway. She took it back and they tightened it. Second time they never put the dip stick back in. My wife found it a week later when it popped out of her hood! Don't go there. read more

As a user of Valvoline and other similar services for many years, I can safely say there is something wrong with this location's staff training and skills. There have been sketchy situations in the past {multiple instances of leaked oil underneath the vehicle; careless use of air wrench damaging bolt heads underneath vehicle, but we usually chalk all that up to relatively inexperienced or changing staff}; But on Aug 30 they experienced a collapse of service when all work stopped for about 30 minutes plus while they all tried to fix a problem on Bay 1. What really was unfortunate is that staff - in particular an immature young woman by the name of Sarah - misrepresented the situation by not explaining openly and honestly what was going on. We watched 4 customers waiting leave-- One other gentleman was so upset he almost caused a traffic accident as he was leaving. People want to help and accommodate-- but it is hard when an apparently undertrained and non-managed staff are afraid or unwilling to communicate to customers, instead hiding behind the silly faux-military communication style taught at some of these oil change places. People are NOT STUPID - they can see when there is a problem and they need to be old the truth, not teen-age style mumbo-jumbo. Much of this is not the staffs' fault - they are just very young kids. As a person with many years experience managing consumer services I suggest you close this location for a few days for an on site "re-alignment" training; perhaps you need a new manager. --- Further on the problems, I just remembered that there was also some kind of alarm beeping going off several times during the confusion - a loud sound like a smoke detector or safety interlock warning? Perhaps someone might check and see if they were having some problem with some safety system warning of an unsafe condition with the oil supply or maybe smoke or gas hazard detectors? read more

WORST experience ever! I literally made a Yelp account just to warn people. I brought my car in for an oil change and they told me I needed a new air filter. The next day I am off on a road trip and the check engine light comes on. Turns out they installed the air filter wrong. Had to cancel my entire road trip because of this. Well accidents happen, but they were totally dismissive and acted like they didn't install it wrong. Took it to another mechanic who said it was installed wrong and was able to fix it. Finally was able to open a claim with Valvoline after terrible communication and was partially refunded. Would NEVER recommend anyone go here. I am now out a bunch of money and couldn't even take my trip. They also basically refused to acknowledge that they messed up even though the very day after I got a new air filter I had a problem due to the air filter being installed wrong. read more

I got an oil change here and immediately after the oil change my oil light was on and they couldn't figure it out. It smelled like burning oil immediately after leaving. They told me I must have a leak. My light wasn't on before coming here. They redid the oil change the next day and ever since then my Car smells like burning oil constantly. Where do I start. The 15 min top wait they said turned into over 30min. There were only 2 cars in the shop. Once in there it took another 30+ min for only an oil change. None of the other services. Just oil and a filter. The entire time I was sitting there the employees bickered back and forth like children. Exceptionally whiny. They ran out of the oil that was supposed to go in my car so they upgraded it and tried to charge me for it after they said it would be free. The bill was very high. Twice what I paid at the dealership. They never took down my name or any other information. The receipt I got was for someone else's account and vehicle. They didn't seem to care. I'm not ever going back and I will tell anyone that will listen not to bother. Worst most unprofessional experience in a shop in over 30 years driving. They were so unprofessional I don't trust that they did my oil change properly and now I'm taking my truck to the dealership to look it over. You wasted my time and money You suck. read more
