Warning... Took my Sprinter Van here for an oil change. When done, they claimed I had a cracked oil pan when I came in. Even though it wasn't leaking before, it felt strange that they'd go thru the trouble of changing the oil if the oil pan was already cracked... After many questions...Turns out these guys didn't use a torque wrench to tighten the oil pan nut, cracked my oil pan, & tried to blame it on me. If the oil pan wasn't already brand new, ( replaced on previous oil change) I may have believed them. After admitting to overtightening the bolt, they replaced the oil pan at theirs expense. However, I was left without a vehicle for 3-4 days for a simple oil change. *Incident date spring 2024 read more

As a woman going to the mechanic can oftentimes be a frustrating and intimidating experience. My roommate went there today and came home upset because not only did they attempt to overcharge when she went in because her check engine light came on but they were incredibly sexist. When she spoke with the mechanic and asked why she would be charged so much he told her "I'll dumb this down for you so I'm not using overly complicated terms." And then asked if he could speak with her husband so they could "be on the same page." I'm very confident this situation would not have happened if she was a man. She was able to get them to reduce her bill from $250 to $100. She paid $100 dollars for them to tell her what she already knew was wrong with her car and remind her that her pea sized woman brain could never understand it. /s Shame on you Unlimited Service! read more

Todd and his gang of merry men and women at Unlimited Service really know what it means to stand by their work. They repaired/reconditioned my Prius Hybrid battery about 23 months ago, but a few weeks ago, the dreaded trifecta of warning lights and fault codes reappeared, letting me know that the computer believed that the battery was kaput once again. For cryin' out loud, the whole car only has 460,000 miles on it -- I am determined to get it to 500k! I took it back to Unlimited Service, and they told me that because I was just within my 2 year warranty, they would take it apart and fix it for free (at least all of the components they had worked on, 23 months ago). I did not know that I had a 2 year warranty (I thought it was more along the lines of 90 days or $90). They had to remove and disassemble the battery again, replace some cells, and rebalance things - no trivial task. That was all covered by the warranty (yay)! These folks are top notch, and ill come back for other servicing needs as they arise read more

So, I had driven in from out of town to see my mom in hospital in Bellingham, and as I was leaving the hospital my battery light came on. I happened to be driving past Unlimited Service Downtown, so stopped in to find out if it was safe to drive home before having it checked out. The gentleman who came out to check it quickly identified it was a bad alternator, and no I definitely shouldn't try and drive home. He said they'd be happy to help, but wouldn't be able to get to it until Thursday (a week away) as they were booked solid. I explained my situation that I had to get back as I had a flight to get down to see my sister who is going in for a serious medical procedure. He told me usually they'd have a loaner for me, but they were all checked out. Turns out I was speaking with the owner of the garage, and HE HANDED ME THE KEYS TO HIS PERSONAL CAR (which he explained is licensed and insured as a "loaner" in case of emergencies). He said I could take it and leave my car with him, and just bring it back after my trip and they'd have my car ready to go. I headed out to have some lunch before my long drive, and about an hour later he calls me up and tells me that he found an alternator in town, had gone over and picked it up and his guys were installing it as we spoke. If I was still in town I could come get my car right away! This is an example of a business that serves "people" not just fixing cars. He saw a way to help me in a tough spot, and adjusted his own schedule to help. This is the kind of business with a truly personal connection that builds lifelong relationships with their customers, not just about getting their money and getting them out. I never had my car serviced here but the man I talked to on the phone was so rude I didn't want to even begin that process.

This place is rock-solid. I've been a customer since 2015 based on a recommendation I got when I first moved to town, and they do everything I want a mechanic to do. They are honest, knowledgable, flexible, their prices are fair, the people are friendly; they are awesome. Maybe its because I'm a loyal customer, but when I have taken a car in for pre-sale inspection, they look at it very closely and evaluate things based on what the seller is asking, which is really helpful. Todd the owner is a cool guy and it seems like a family business because the crew is so friendly. Like many shops, they have free coffee in the waiting room, but they also have free candy which is pretty sweet. :D The downtown location is excellent if you need to use public transit, plus its just a few blocks from railroad avenue, cornwall avenue, state street and ellis street so its easy to get to from all parts of town. I'm a huge fan of Unlimited Service. read more

It sucks I have to write this. Ive recieved great service here in the past, but unfortunately this was not the case yesterday. I just bought a new (to me) '93 honda accord and scheduled a diagnostic with unlimited service. Over the phone they quoted $60 to $120 depending on how long it takes. When I show up to my appointment they asked if there was anything specific they should take a look at. I described the noises and explained that the car feels safe. Its just old & id like to be proactive addressing any issues. Before I hand him the keys he says,"okay that will be $135plus tax & shop expenses. With everything we need to look at it will probably take another hour which is $135. Could take longer. No way to tell until we are in there." I said there must be some kind of miscommunication. May I speak with your manager? Boss man comes out, confirms the price, and said,"you know our time is worth money." I might be a girl, but Im no dummy! Actually Im not sure if they were being sexist or if theyre charging more than double due to supply and demand. Either way, I felt like I was being hustled. I mean $300+ for them to just tell me what's wrong seems like a crime. Went to les schwab afterwards and did the free road trip inspection. They litterally told me everything I needed to know, for free, with detailed paperwork, priority checklist and a reasonable price quote with a definitive cost of service. No ambiguity here. They even had a female technician explain whats going on in simple terms with visual props. I appreciate them taking the time to teach me something without being patronized. Again, wish I didnt have to write this about a small local business. I suggest checking out Bellingham automotive. Takes a few weeks to get in for an appointment, but its worth the quality work they do. Plus they quoted me $180 max for a diagnostic.. I have been to Unlimited Service on 4 different occasions in the last 12 months, all for items that typically fail on a vehicle as it passes 100,000 miles. The staff are friendly and great to work with. Mike at the front desk is awesome. Even though he is the one who calls you with the news when they figure out what it is and he is the one who has to tell you how much its going to cost, its always a pleasure to talk with him. In the past I have been very unhappy with other repair shops around town, but never unhappy with Unlimited Service. There is a trust there that they are doing what is needed to get your vehicle running again, and that it will turn out right. They even have a couple loaner cars that may be available if you need that. In the future when I need work on any vehicle, I will certainly return to Unlimited Service. read more

Umlimited was recommended to us after unsuccessfully trying to find a mechanic for our older RV. Who knew that Unlimited serviced RVs? They do - and they do it right. After being stranded on the side of the road 5 too many times for a belt issue that we just couldn't solve, we decided we weren't chancing another drive until we had a professional work on it. I wouldn't say it was super fast service, but we weren't in a super fast hurry and we made that clear. They not only fixed what we needed (we never broke down again and we drove her every weekend to Seattle for football games!), but they fixed a few things we mentioned and gave us honest advice on a a few things we questioned - but asked first if we wanted it worked on (we didn't). Honest service. Beyond fair pricing. Great communication. I would not hesitate to take any vehicle here, from our old RV to my new Toyota. read more

I have been using Unlimited Service for quite a while now and I have to say it is very nice to have a trustworthy place to work on my vehicle. Here is an example: My stepson had a car that he was taking to another place that kept having various problems, and he kept putting money in to it. The final straw came when the car developed a "wabble" in the steering. HIs shop told him it needed about $2,000 of front end work. He bought a new car and I bought the old car from him. I took it to Unlimited Service and they told me it just needed a tire because the belts had separated. I took it to a local tire place and had a new tire put on it for about $100. Problem solved. Unlimited service has also helped me solve problems with my collector Mercedes. They are a great all around shop that can work on pretty much any vehicle. read more

DO NOT take air cooled VW's to this place! Really screwed my squareback up! Took the car in when "Jim" at Bakerview shop told me he had a VW guy "Dave" that could work on air cooled VWs . WRONG! Try to adjust my valves, Car was missing , wanted to replace the heads, cause he thought the valves were messed up! I told them to stop doing anything to the car. Charged me $750, yeah I was pissed, car ran worse when I picked it up! I limped home on 2 cylinders. Loaded it on my trailer, took it to ProVolks in Anacortes, he adjusted the carbs, in 1/2 hour. Car runs like brand new! So, my lessons learned, to the tune of $750, don't believe this place can work on air cooled VWs! Go to a pro! read more

The guys knew I don't know much about cars, but I knew the brakes needed to be replaced. Left my car for a quick quote they lied to me and told me I needed unnecessary replacement parts. They took me for a fool a tried to over charge me for work I believe they never intended to do. After talking to friends took my car for a second opinion and was shown what needed to be done and it is much less than what they tried to tell me. I got a quote from the dealership for my prius for$1900 + 140 for the diagnosis fee. I called all over and got a referral from another mechanic who said they're the best for hybrids. Yes, they are! Unlimited services quoted $1020 including diagnosis fee. Went to pick up my car and it didn't take them as long so my total was $925 with the diagnosis fee. we were driving a van through on our way up into Canada. we smelled and then found a gas leak. we found unlimited service was open on Saturday were there at 8 a.m. as they opened the next morning. despite their full schedule, they were more than willing to check out the van. after their quick assessment they found a major gas leak. they let us know that it was probably unsafe to drive and told us that they would take care of it immediately. within a few hours they called us up with the repairs at a reasonable cost. they had us back on the road quickly and were quite friendly throughout the entire process. thank you so much for all of your help, your great service, and your friendliness. read more

Excellent Service! My wife/I were driving thru Bellingham with our 30' motorhome and started having charging problems. We happened upon Unlimited Service and pulled into their lot before the RV died. Unfortunately for us they closed in 5 minutes and they were all booked up so they at first couldn't help us. However, Todd the owner came out to ask what our problem was. Even though they were shutting down for the day Todd personally looked at our problem, even grabbed two battery chargers to give some juice to our dead batteries. He then offered to let us borrow one of the chargers while we went camping (the campsite had electrical power we could hook the charger up to and continue charging the batteries). Todd then checked our batteries and suggested that we needed new ones since ours were several years old. Again, keep in mind it is now well past closing time and he could have easily went home to his wife/kids. However, he offered to drive to a local parts store and pick up two new batteries for us. He then helped us install them. We were on our way! Todd personally spent an hour helping us after the shop had closed and refused any payment other than the cost of the batteries. I don't know many places where you'll get such great service anymore. I was very impressed and if I didn't live 2 hours away I'd take all my vehicles to Unlimited Service for all my vehicle repairs/servicing. read more

Unfortunately had my vehicle quit on I-5 due to a fuel pump. I had it taken to a dealership that produced a quote that was... a little shocking. Todd at US provided a quote that was almost half and was very friendly to boot! Would not fail to return to this establishment and was given a reminder as to why one should never ever go to the dealer! read more

Brought my truck there for a timing belt service. Great service and fair pricing. 1.5 years later one of the cam seals they replaced during the timing belt service began leaking oil. They fixed the leak under warranty. Wilson Toyota wanted $600 to fix the same leak. These guys will get my service and recommendations every time. Thanks. read more

I had someone else take a look at my truck and they stated that it was the same issue as before. I brought my truck back in and they said that it was also something else. They were going to charge me $650 for the service. $240 for parts and the other $410 for labor. I had someone else fix the other issue and it only took them a half hour to fix and way less money. When I came and picked up my truck when the parts under warranty were fixed Todd was very condescending to me stating I need to get my oil changed ever 3K miles which I am well aware of and still had 1K left until I was due for an oil change. He kept stating that I really need to be aware of the 3K and I am well aware. While my truck was in their possession someone hit my truck. He was "not aware of this" and claimed it was none of his guys but did admit that the scratch was new and he would get it fixed since it was with them during the time of them fixing my tuck. I noticed later that evening that there were also smaller scratch marks above my initial huge scratch and let them know this but since I had not mentioned it when I first saw the big scratch they will not fix the small ones right above it because according to him "it does not look the same and he will not fix something that he does see" He also states that it was not any of his guys, and it was probably someone in their parking lot that hit it. He also stated that they had this issue a couple weeks ago. because it was a huge scratch someone would have heard this and should have gone out to look. Also they should keep their vehicles they are working on in an enclosed space because they have had this issue before in the last couple of weeks. I would not recommend this shop to anyone they are way overpriced. They do not get back to you in a timely manner it took them 3 days to fix the something that should have been able to fix same day. They are .rude and condescending and do not pay attention to the vehicles in their care. read more
