My best friend had been to multiple bridal salons and found a dress and overskirt combination that she loved but couldn't seem to pull the trigger. As we live in different cities, we decided to find a meeting point half way so that I could help her try on some dresses and give my input in real time. Another friend of mine recommended Van Cleve as she had actually found her dress there last summer. We knew that they had the dress there that she had so far narrowed it down to and we thought it would be a great way to try it back on and make sure she loved it the most. Shelley was the perfect sales consultant for what my friend needed! She had a great read of her personality type and style from the moment we met and was just firm enough without being pushy (which I thought would be all left up to me so I appreciated it!). My friend actually did not plan on purchasing a dress that day, wanting to sleep on it, but ended up saying yes to the dress! Shelley walked us through the showroom and pulled some great options, after trying on a few my friend put on the dress she loved at the past salon and kept saying she absolutely loved it (especially with the overskirt that Shelley had pulled to try on with it). Shelley was so great at asking what she loved about it that she actually realized that there was a dress that would be a better fit to her body and a higher quality material who's designer would be able to make the customizations needed to incorporate every detail of the first dress that she loved. This place UGH! They put on a great presence on social media and all the Philadelphia wedding events, but they are an absolute mess. I went to 15 bridal shops and this was my second one, as I live in the area. Believe me when I say I got the most amazing customer service at every other shop. Not this one. If I was the owner I'd do a complete overhaul of the dresses I carry, bring in training for the staff to be customer service oriented and act like I'm a shop on the main line. My experience was ok. Live an hour away. Went there due to a specific dress I wanted to try. Older bride. Picking out the dress was great. Ended up purchasing a lovely nearly $6000 Steven Yearick Couture. No one did the "she picked the dress sign", guess it was too much to do with Covid. Took seven plus months for the dress. Was told it would be in early December. I had to keep contacting them, they didn't reach out to me. Or keep me up to date. I was a little worried and bought a back up dress just in case. Dress finally came end of December, I think as first fitting was set up for January 10th. I drove over an hour fitting done. Needed hem and bustle. That's it. Second fitting Tuesday before wedding, they had completed the alterations but said I needed to come back a third time to let them finish and then steam dress. In February, week before wedding. Week of storms. Wedding was following Friday. I requested to take dress with me and they indicated it would take 20 minutes to steam. Why wasn't it ready? Overall I loved the dress. Customer service was ok. They didn't seem into non traditional brides. Was a shame. read more

I searched for the perfect dress for what seemed like forever before going to Van Cleve. I worked with Shelly and found two dresses that I really liked but could not choose between. She suggested ordering a custom gown with the front of one dress and the back of another. I didn't even know that was possible. I picked it up the gown this week and it is stunning! I realize now that I couldn't find my perfect dress because it didn't exist yet. Shelly really knows her stuff. While the products at VC are of good quality, much of the staff is very unpleasant to deal with. I rented a tux here as part of a wedding party and the staff was very rude and cold, especially to groomsmen who were out of town: many of the guys couldn't pick up the tuxes before the wedding weekend as they lived several hours away, and the staff were rude and frankly judgmental, not willing to be flexible with pickup times and demanding they try on the tuxes days in advance when it was impossible to do so. Instead of making the process easy, they added to the stress of the big day. I would not recommend using them to others getting married based on this experience. read more

She continued to zone in on the bride-to-be and solely talk to her about the dress she wanted her to buy. The dresses there are fantastic but I would never buy one from them. After some bad experiences elsewhere, my friend recommended I try Van Cleve. Reading the reviews here, I wasn't sure what to expect. I honestly believe your experience is all based on your stylists and I was so happy Mayana was mine! For my wedding dress - I had something in mind that I thought I wanted. I had my eyes set on a Pronovias. She was courteous to bring those out but she really listened to what I liked and didn't like about each dress. Thanks to Mayana, I found a dress that is literally the most unique combination that they have to make it. I was so nervous to make a final decision, but she coached me through it (really!). Same story with bridesmaid dresses. My sisters and I went to see Mayana again, telling her what we saw and didn't like - and that we wanted to find something that matched my dress. She knew just the color and style and all of the girls loved them. Now I anxiously await the arrival of my dress and hope alterations go as swimmingly as our experience with Mayana was. read more

Very disappointed in my experience with Van Cleve. I purchased my (very expensive) wedding dress from Van Cleve and additional buttons were needed. They charged my card and let me know they would order them from the dress designer and that they would arrive in 10-12 weeks. Over 14 weeks later (and the week of my wedding), they called to let me know the buttons had finally arrived. By this time, I already had my seamstress add buttons since we were down to the wire - and that I no longer needed them. Van Cleve refused to refund me the $4 spent on buttons. But graciously offered to ship them out to me (what exactly am I going to do with bridal buttons??). They took no accountability for the buttons arriving late and told me their "no refund" policy stands. When I spent thousands of dollars on a dress, you'd expect a better customer service experience. Really unfortunate and an example of how not to run a business. Couldn't recommend less. Brides - go somewhere else. read more

I went to Van Cleve in October 2016 to try on dresses for the first time. I was very open with Anna, the consultant, that this was my first time trying on dresses and that I was not ready to commit to anything that day. I tried on a variety of dresses and narrowed it down to a particular style that I liked. There was a dress and a topper that I really liked. Anna was insistent that the laces did not match and would not let me try them on together. Then she proceeded to ask me if I was ready to say yes to the dress (without the topper). When I told her that I was not ready, she was visibly annoyed that I was not going to buy that day, even after I was upfront about it being my first time at a bridal boutique. After two more months of going to different salons and trying on other dresses, I still had that one dress and topper in my mind. I called to make another appointment with Anna. She let me try on the dress with the topper this time. It was absolutely perfect. The combination was exactly what I had had in my mind the entire time. I purchased the dress, topper and veil that day. The entire purchasing experience wasn't the best, but I ended up purchasing the dress there because it was exactly what I wanted and I could not find something like it any where else. I wouldn't recommend going here if you're looking for a "warm and fuzzy", magical wedding dress shopping experience. My dress came in about 7 months later and I decided to go ahead and get my alterations completed at the salon. I am so happy that I did that as Valentina was AMAZING. She was sooo kind and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She did a great job with the alterations and was able to make the smallest of touches that made the dress fit perfectly. I wish I could give zero stars, the service is terrible and everything is really over priced. I agree with previous reviews that say they do ridiculous measurements. The quality of the dresses is poor too. I ordered a dress, besides being three sizes too big, there was a pin left in it and the stitching up top was either coming out or completely out in some parts. They basically just ripped the pin out of the top so there has to be a hole somewhere. They basically only want money once you order that dress, they just collect their paycheck and don't care anything past that. I heard while I was in there, a sales rep saying that someone messed up on a brides measurements for her wedding dress and the wedding was a month away. Funny they say that behind closed doors bc when I asked about mine they said they never mess up the measurements. read more

The overall trying on dresses and purchasing experience was great. However, the problems started when I came for my first wedding dress fitting. The first thing I noticed was that they didn't even bother steaming the dress. My wedding dress looked like it was previously rolled up in a ball and it just hung there with wrinkles ALL OVER. If this was a bride's first time trying on her dress, wouldn't they want to steam it out so that it looks perfect...for the bride to see herself as she envisioned it?! When I put my dress on, the measurements were so off. The top part didn't even fit me and the bottom still needed to be hemmed. ***When I initially paid for my dress, they took my measurements and asked me if I wanted to do "custom sizing" so that it fits and hugs my body in the right places. So I said sure and they included that alteration in my initial quote. So please tell me why the top part was still so big that it doesn't fit me?! What made me upset was that they wanted to charge me an extra $600 that day to do ANOTHER set of alterations to fix the top part and hem. So what exactly was this "custom sizing" that I initially paid for? I asked them about this, but the girls kept telling me that the contract I initially signed says if additional alterations are needed, it is to be paid by the seller. However, I looked at my contract and it literally says: "Additional fabric or alterations due to pregnancy, weight loss/gain is the financial responsibility of the Buyer. Seller will not be responsible for changes in the Bride's measurements." 1) I am not pregnant 2) I did not lose or gain any weight. I've been 105 pounds since high school. I was so frustrated with their "alterations" and these people trying to get another paycheck out of me that I just asked them to give me my dress so that I can go somewhere else for alterations. Update: This place is great to find your wedding dress. I loved the experience when trying on dresses and the staff was indeed helpful. I do love my dress. I just think there was a miscommunication and no one made me aware that there are additional costs for alterations when the sales associate asked me for a custom fit, which was included in my initial quote. read more

I dream about my dress and cannot believe I have to wait over a year to wear it. Oh well, gives me time to tone my biceps, amiright? *lifts wine glass to mouth* I had nothing but excellent service at The Wedding Pavilion, and I worked with both Abby and Ann Marie on three different occasions. I came here first when I was just lookin' to look, and marked a few as maybes. A few months later, I came back to see if any of them held the same appeal. There were a few new styles on the racks and one caught my eye - a Watters dress just in for the weekend, as the trunk show happened to be in town. I tried it on along with the other dresses, and it managed to make it to the top of the pile. The dress it was competing with was the only pure white dress in the store, that gave me a killer waist and brightened me up by a bajillion watts. That one seemed the clear winner, and we didn't even bother to have them write the Watters' info down. I was literally up ALL NIGHT, a wreck with nerves. Something about the pure white dress just didn't seem right, it wasn't my style. It made me look great but it wasn't me. The Watters dress was simple, but really came together with a detailed belt and cathedral veil. And guess what? It could come in white! The next morning, I was calling up The Wedding Pavilion and begging them to squeeze me in. With a clear head, I put on the Watters dress, and knew I had hit the jackpot. I never felt more beautiful in all my life. It happened to be 10% off during the trunk show, so I ended the search and made the commitment. They put up with my crazy indecision, they turned a simple dress into my dream gown, and they were nothing but happy and pleasant the entire time. I am more than thrilled I get to do business with them! Side note: they let you take pictures!!! And it was the pictures that made me realize that the Watters dress was MY dress. I recently went to Van Cleve in October with a bridal party to try on dresses. I am from out of town and live several hours away from the shop. I called today to get my measurements and the style of dress that I tried on. I recently found out that I am pregnant and wanted to compare dress styles and measurements online to accommodate a bump because I most likely have to change my dress size and style. We did not try on every style at the appointment, and it was always the plan to check online for different styles before placing the group order (the sales person was aware of this). The woman that answered the phone REFUSED to give the measurements to me because I wasn't ordering right then and there. Why would I place an order without being sure of my size or style? What is with the "policy" of "not giving measurements" without placing an order, as if my size is top secret? Very odd. I found her to be very rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. We will not be ordering from here and I do not recommend this place. It was a mediocre experience in person, and a hideous experience over the phone. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

I may not have purchased my gown from The Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve, but this is where I found it and had the best bridal salon visit of my life. Since I don't live in the same state as my mother, my initial plan was to visit a few salons to get a clear sense of what style of gown I was looking for. Van Cleve's services were ranked high on Yelp, and I knew that they had a nice range of designers/prices, so I just chose a date and requested an appointment. They contacted me immediately and informed me that my appointment was during a trunk show for Matthew Christopher. A quick peek at his collections didn't thrill me, so I arrived with no expectations and just a willingness to try different things. I believe Abby was helping me - at 8 months pregnant! She was fantastic, so friendly and talkative, she instantly made me feel comfortable. I described what few characteristics I knew I was looking for, and my budget, and she showed me around the racks, pulling out dresses for me to try. I turned around to head to the dressing room when I saw the designer Matthew Christopher hang up this GORGEOUS lace strapless gown. I took one look at it, turned to Abby and said, "Don't tell me how much it is, I need to try that one." She smartly put that gown on me first, and I knew I was in trouble when I saw myself in the mirror. To put it simply: it was perfect. It had everything that I knew I wanted, and even more elements that I didn't realize that I wanted. Then Abby found THE PERFECT veil and the moment was complete. I tried on the other gowns too, but we all knew that the first gown was it. The problem? I needed mom's approval, and it was the last day of the trunk show and the gown - THE only sample of it currently - was leaving town. BUT I found an NYC trunk show a month later that my mom could go to, and that's where we bought it (logistically easier anyway since my wedding will be in NYC, where my parents live). But The Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve was incredibly friendly and nice and I don't see how anyone could have a negative experience here, unless they come expecting to find THE DRESS and then don't. I highly recommend brides-to-be visit this salon - I will be back soon for that veil!! read more

If you make an appointment here, be sure to ask for Ann Marie! Overall, I had a great experience at Van Cleve. They didn't mind my larger entourage and Ann Marie and I made our way upstairs by ourselves to pull some dresses. She understood my style and it was easy to feel comfortable around her. She pulled some great dresses for me, and my family really enjoyed the store. It's a little small but it's nice because you feel like you get a very intimate experience. As we walked out of the store, another employee greeted us and was so friendly and nice, and said she hoped we had a good time. Everyone there seemed to really enjoy what they do. I came here somewhat burnt out after one bad dress shopping experience and two other salons where I just didn't love anything. This place turned everything around for me. I had found that they carried two specific Watters gowns that I wanted to try on so I scheduled my appointment. My consultant was Ann Marie and she is the type of consultant that I hope everyone gets to work with when they are looking for a wedding dress. She asked me a ton of questions to get a feel for what I was looking for and what I wanted to avoid. She grabbed the picks I had come in to see, and then walked me around showing me dresses she thought I would like. She was great about steering me away from racks that were out of my budget. They have two floors of dresses here. I was honestly not prepared for how many different styles and designers they have. The dresses are hanging throughout the building and not covered in a plastic bag which I find makes it hard to get a feel for the dress. Due to Ann Marie's handiwork and the beautiful selection Van Cleve's has, I was left picking between 6 dresses. That's right, I loved 6 dresses. This was a completely different experience than what I had faced anywhere. Ann Marie was sooo helpful and did not pressure me one bit. She actually helped me choose the lowest priced one! That's right, I stayed WELL under budget with the consultant's help. I really don't have enough good things to say about this place. Went in to order my gown for my daughters weddin in February. Picked my gown which when they took full monies with a no refund policy they assured me big inning of January since it would take about 4 months! I ordered and paid in full on 9/23. As of January 15 th I have been told just in one phone cal they meant 18 weeks not 16 and the dress which they promised last week would be here on the 14 th is now stuck in customs when pressed about that they think in china! Now say maybe next week this has been the most horrid stressful time as a mother of a bride as well as the flower girls dress which supposedly is in transit that too was a 4 month 16 week order time! The owner is no where to be found and the supposed manager has no idea what she is doing and I am left holding the bag what should be a wonderful time is now officially a disaster with a bridal salon that could care less. I bought a e Rina dimontella gown for my other daughters wedding and they called ny before they would commit to selling it and assured me they would go to ny to pick it up thatvwas at a rina dimontella warehouse and I bought it in September for a dec 5 th wedding with no problems! Been here a couple weeks ago with my future sister in law. We had Abby helping us and she was lovely. Went here this afternoon with my brother, his gf and my mom, to get dresses for my mom and I for their wedding in Sept. We made appointments for 3p and 4p like two weeks ago. Got there on time. My mom's first lady was on time, we didn't wait at all for her. She was also very sweet and a nice sense of humor. I can't remember her name. Beth, I think. Not sure. I'd have given five stars based just on those ladies. Next came my appt at 4 with Anne. This is where the one star comes in. Anne was running 15-20 minutes late. Had to be reminded twice that we were waiting for her. Had to be told to hurry up as we were already waiting 20+ minutes for her. I get it, you want to get the girl all that she needs and get as much money out of them for commission as you possibly can. I work in sales, too, I get it. I however also work in an environment where we also make appts for clients and it's rude to cut into someone's appointment time. It's even more rude to not give them the same attention as you did the prior guest. And I also get that sometimes it's the customer taking their sweet old time and disrespecting other's time. This is where you need to give ample amount of time in between clients to avoid this. After Anne was told a couple times to speed it up, she came up the stairs and she said something to the effect that her next maid of honor was there for her. I was about to get up to shake her hand and introduce myself and she stormed by me, totally ignoring us, as if we didn't even exist. She rushed us downstairs for me to fill out some paperwork stuff and asked us what dresses the bride wanted us in, colors, etc. She didn't even stop to recollect herself from being busy, being late, anything. No apology either. Showed me the full length and the knee length dresses and told me to pick out the ones I liked and to hang them up at one of the little cubicles to try it on. She then immediately turned her back and went back to socializing with her other coworker and customer who were also looking at dresses there in the same room. She told me when I was ready, I could get into the dresses and she would help me zip them up. But she was no where to be found so I ended up zipping them myself and just holding the dress bunched in the back until she saw I was holding it there and put some clips and whatnot in it. Only reason why I ended up getting a dress is because a time constraint. Their wedding is in September, so in order to accommodate alterations and things, the dress needs to be purchased soon. I just wish it wasn't with her as the salesperson. Incredibly impersonal and disrespectful of our time. When/if I ever get married, I will not return here if I am scheduled to work with her again. read more

Bridal dream come true experience at Van Cleve! Our bridal consultant, Shelly, is the best in the business! I wish I could give her more stars!! From the moment I met Shelly as she greeted my daughter (the bride) I knew we would find her dress at Van Cleve. Shelly genuinely listened to my daughter as they discussed her wedding vision, how she wanted to look and feel on her wedding day, and even her love story with her fiancé. Shelly guided us through the entire process of choosing a dress, what style would best compliment the brides body, and answered every question we could think of in a warm, professional manner. She made my daughter feel like a princess. The very first dress Shelly chose for my daughter was the dress we ultimately purchased. She nailed it!! Everyone was crying and even Shelly got emotional. It is a moment I will never forget. My daughter looked at herself in the mirror and said "I never thought I could wear a dress like this." So went to there cocktail / dress shop next door do not see the alterations lady Vera made me cry and walked away from me . I had a great experience with Van Cleve! It was by far the best dress shopping appointment I had and thought their selection was better than the other stores in the area. Abby, their General Manager, was so sweet and spent so much time with me making sure I was comfortable and had a fun shopping day. I ended up buying the third dress I tried on and it was the best decision I could make. If I could give ten stars to Vera, the seamstress, I would. My dress was very heavy with a very long train, and she re-created the bustle to be exactly how I imagined. She was so professional, kind, and thoughtful, and made all my fittings enjoyable and stress-free. I did have one issue with a receptionist who made me very upset one day, but other than that, the staff was great. read more

Van Cleve was amazing!!! I had the best experience trying on dresses with them! They were always so nice and polite, not to mention extremely helpful! I think hey have beautiful gowns in a wide range of prices! I loved my dress, and also purchased my jewelry from them! Even though I didn't purchase my veil from them, they were more than happy to steam it for me along with my dress! Van Cleve was the only bridal salon that I shopped at for my bridal gown. I went for a trunk show and could not have been more pleased with my experience. Ann Marie went above and beyond to make the process easy. While they aren't the cheapest salon, the experience that I had was well worth the cost. Vera in alterations is a gem too! read more

Van Cleve was an amazing experience for me! I brought 6 people with me and they were so accommodating to everyone. They brought everyone champagne and helped me pick out some great gowns. They were great at listening to what I wanted and coming up with solutions to everything I was picky about.
