I love that they have a clearance center for people like me on a budget but I hate the constant hounding, telling me about a piece of furniture just because I sat down on it. It's brain overload! Please salespeople, allow people to look around and then to ask questions if they have any. To be interrupted in the middle of conversations with friends or family every 5-10 minutes gets old. A greeting at the door is sufficient with a quick explanation of what they carry and fabric selections etc is helpful but beyond that is overkill. Makes me feel like I need to run, not walk out of the store. And also there's always some bald dude staring creepily at you from a corner if you're trying out furniture. I did end up purchasing a couch from them but their sales tactics definitely did not help me in choosing a sofa! read more

Never again ! They ordered a recliner for us after driving an hour to get there they said not in stock and they won't sell the floor model. So they ordered one we waited 32 days had to call ourselves because no one cared to keep us up to date .... then 32 days later they say it's in only to find out it was the floor model ...... no f's to be given and they tried to act as if they didn't know it was a floor model...... very unprofessional and not happy ...... would never deal with them again .... read more

If I could I would give this store no stars. Spent $2500 on couch and chair and in just over a year the mechanism on the recliner needs to be replaced (at our expense). A nail is coming through the fabric and if they send a person out to fix it the cost is $40 per hour plus $60 to come out to assess. (I did purchase a fabric warranty, but only works if we bring couch to them.) So never again and I hope this dissuades others from buying from them. read more

I would give 0 stars if i could. i have had my furniture for 39 days and its RUINED! They wont replace it, fix it or let me return it. I missed my 30 day window. Today I went into Van Drie in Traverse City to purchase a rocker recliner. I was immediately met by a salesperson asking if he could help in finding what I was looking for. He gave me space to check out all of the rocker recliners, checking back with me often. I WAS a 30+ year custom, but after waiting months for my furniture (which I was aware would happen, the day before delivery I was informed of EXTRA charges for moving my old furniture to the garage so I could donate it, something they never charged for before. I felt this should have been mentioned and After starting that no one ever mentioned this or was the any signage or noted on any paperwork. They offered me a small discount. But this wasn't about the money, as it was about them becoming very rude and condescending. They were more then willing to lose the entire sale and a very long time customer of their lack of "customer service". So if you shop here be very aware and ask lots of questions about every item and every possible fee before hand because they don't tell you up front. read more

I am so disappointd in Jeff, the manager of VanDrie Furnishings. He is the most obstinate man I have met. I wanted to purchase, at one time, furniture for my apartment ... living room, bedroom and dininging room. He turned me over to Samantha, who was 5 star, just wonderful, professional, unlike the manager, and helpful. We picked out furniture and it came in over my budget, she went back and had it reduced by looking at similar looking but less expensive furniture which brotught it close to my budget. But still over by about $1,500. Samantha worked and worked and worked and we were getting closer, but in the end she wnet to Jeff, the manager, and he would not budge and didn't appear to care if he sold ANY furniture. He was not willing to bargain, reduce the original price ... and we know that furniture has a markup of over 300%, but he wanted all the money he could milk from me, a senior citizen, vetran and care-taker for my brother. The bottom line is that I would never go back to Van Drie while this man Jeff is the manager. He should go ..... sooner than later. If you are looking for furniture may I say in the strongest word possible, look somewhere else. I gave Van Drie Furniture a 1star only because I'm a Christian and believe he can change in time. Special ordered an Entertainment Center that was white on computer. No floor sample. Arrived yesterday not white at all. Contacted sales person who contacted owner Travis Winkle. I have to pay 25% restocking feeAND a 49.95 delivery charge! After numerous calls to Travis and salesperson Kasey.. No one returned my calls. I have purchased 2 living room sets from them in the past. I even offered to use store credit for other merchandise. Oh no.. I have worked retail for over 40 years and have never experienced anything like this. So unprofessional! No wonder every time I'd go in there.. Different sales people. I just designed my own couch at Vandrie which I didn't know was possible until the salesman Andy helped me. He did a GREAT JOB and I ordered exactly what I wanted. I realize I have to wait a few weeks but it's worth it. Vandrie also has an extensive inventory to view in their lovely Traverse City showroom. Andy and the Vandrie staff were all wonderful. I purchased 2 Lazy Boy Recliners from Van Drie in Cadillac and I can't express how unhappy I am with the quality of the merchandise. Within 4 months the chairs were breaking down, the seat cushions and the backs. I had to wait to call the store due to the Covid19, I called them at 6 months and they sent someone out. He said they would order new seats and fill the backs. That is Lazy Boys warranty. That is totally unacceptable, if the chair is breaking down that quickly, what's going to happen in 3 years. We had a Lazy Boy recliner before this one that lasted over 10 years. DO NOT BUY LAZY BOY AND DO NOT BUY FROM VAN DRIE, they don't back what they sell! read more

My advice to anyone thinking of purchasing anything from Vandrie furniture in Cadillac, DON'T! Buyer beware! The manager Kevin, has no idea or any desire to show any kind of customer service. I purchased a mattress set which they tell you you can try it for 30 days and exchange it if you don't like it. Of course to make this offer valid you must buy from them a 70.00 dollar mattress cover. After almost 2 weeks the mattress was hurting my back so I went back with my receipt and picked out a different mattress which was 100 dollars less than the first one I purchased. I was told , yes they will exchange it, but it would cost me 353.00 difference. Really? When I said that was crazy they proceeded to tell me there is a 15 % rehoming fee and there would also be a 70 dollar delivery charge! They said it was in the contract I signed and the sales lady told me about it. Either my daughter or I have any recollection of that so I said I would pay one or the other, but not both. They said the manager would call me later as he was in a meeting. Several hours later he called and said that would be the difference and I had until the 18 of Nov to decide. I was very upset and so my daughter decided to call him back to see if she could reason with him. To make a long story short, I had to hire a lawyer to get them to exchange the bed and still ended up paying 167.00 dollars difference. They just want to yelll and scream at you in phone as if you are in the wrong. I will never in this lifetime buy another thing from this business! Buyer please be aware!!! read more

I went to the Van Drie store in Traverse City and picked out 2 chair tables and 1 end table at the tune of $607.86. They had to be ordered. Today I went in to pick them up. Went into the store and was told to go out back and ring the buzzer and someone would be there to load them. After ringing and ringing and no one came to the door I called the store to tell them we were still waiting and this gentleman finally came to the door. After I gave him my purchase slip he went and brought out 3 boxes. I asked where are my tables? He said in the boxes. I asked him why they were in boxes and he informed me that I had to put them together, and oh "a allen wrench was included in the box"... What, I have to put them together after paying $600.00 for them. I felt like I just went to Walmart and bought the tables in a box that cost about $60.00 each. I am very unhappy to say the least. I can not believe that my sales person Alice F. (Asst. Manager) didn't tell me this when I bought them. I came home and looked online at Amazon and they were about $200.00 cheaper. I purchased a sofa from the store in Traverse City in September 2012. I purchased the Guardsman warranty because I was told that it covers anything that could happen to the sofa. I explained that I have a hyper-active 4 year old and wanted to make sure the sofa would be covered, even if she wrote on it in marker. I was reassured that we would be covered no matter what would happen to it. Lo and behold two weeks ago, my 4 year old wrote on the sofa with a marker. I attempted to put a claim in only to find that it is not covered. I attempted to contact the Traverse City store where I was informed that it was not covered, was told that I was mistaken for haven heard that marker would be covered and was told that they could sell me a replacement cushion for the couch. They refused to even address the issue and when I asked for a refund of the warranty since it was doing me no good. They explained they applied a product to the sofa and that they could not refund the warranty. Essentially they had scammed me into buying a worthless warranty on a sofa that they will not stand behind or even attempt to help me with. All the manager could do was tell me what she couldn't do, she would not attempt to address any of the issues. I will not be purchasing from this store again and would advise for anyone else to not buy from here either. read more

This review is based on the experience and service that my mother received from a sales associate named ANDY WIECEK. This man was RUDE, and UNPROFESSIONAL, did not listen to the requests of my mom when he was designing a room for her, and because of his TERRIBLE BEHAVIOR my mother decided to look else where. When she notified him that she decided to take a break from working with him he persisted to INSULT her and her wishes, needless to say she will never work with him again. I am appalled at this mans behavior and find it hard to believe that he can make any sales, or would have anyone that would want to work with him. He is so pushy and unwilling to listen to the requests of potential clients and does not take their opinions in to consideration when he is designing a room for THEIR home. I truly believe that it is a tragedy that he is employed by VanDrie because my moms experience with other people in that store was very good and was the whole reason why she went to them in the first place. Based on this experience I would have a hard time recommending them to anyone that I know looking for furniture when there are so many equally nice furniture stores with people that do not treat their customers with such disrespect. read more
