The Bird and The Bean…read more Love walking through the Cullen Sculpture Garden. It is free to visit on the grounds of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. My two favorite pieces are The Bird by Joan Miro and The Bean by Anish Kapoor. The Bean is really titled Cloud Column. It is a precursor piece to the Cloud Gate, "The Bean," in Chicago. It is lovingly referred to locally as "El Frijole," or "The Bean" in Spanish. I love looking at the reflections of these two pieces. "Adam" by Antoine Bourdelle is so much fun to photograph. Bourdelle was a student of Rodin and a teacher of Matisse and Giacometti. They are all represented in the sculpture garden. From generation to generation. Rodin has several pieces here. Once I sent a group of students on a scavenger hunt here to find "The Walking Man." They had to take a photo as proof. The problem? There was a fundraiser going on at the time. The solution? They explained the challenge to the staff and still were able to get their photos very discreetly. Alexander Calder's The Crab. Painted in Calder Red. Look closely to see the legs of the red-shelled spider crab. Love the playfulness of this sculpture. Tony Cragg. Frank Stella. Bryan Hunt. Joel Shapiro. So many amazing modern sculptors. The Cullen Sculpture Garden was one of the first few spots I visited when exploring Houston after…read moremoving here and I've been back several times since. The garden is situated right next to the Kinder Building and Glassell School of Art at the MFAH, on the corner of Montrose and Bissonnet Streets. While located at a major intersection of the Museum District, it's tucked tastefully behind an unassuming wall, making it easy to miss while driving by but pleasantly tranquil while inside. The garden has a large number of contemporary and classical pieces by several notable 20th and 21st century artists, such as Louise Bourgeois and Henri Matisse. One of the most popular sculptures is the Cloud Column, a 30-foot reflective steel bean shaped column designed by Anish Kapoor, the same artist who created the famous Chicago bean. This sculpture is a fantastic center to take photos from any angle. The space is designed with a number of low walls to create a natural separation between the pieces but still making it easy for visitors to wander around without a defined path. The garden is completely free to visit and has a number of small tables to sit down, relax, and immerse yourself in the visual experience.

What I like about this venue is that when you arrive late, they'll let you in between songs to not disrupt the performance but also not missing out. The venue in Chicago would make us wait until intermission. All the employees were super helpful and nice! Bathrooms were clean and nice. Definitely looking forwarding to seeing another performance here.

It is a small space but the art exhibited was astonishing. I truly enjoyed visiting the Collective and I look forward to returning. The 2020 art exhibit pieces were breathtaking and powerful.

I most appreciated the logistics of the space -- ample parking, well-maintained bathrooms, working A/C, clear indicators of where all the booths were located, and even clear annoucements letting us know when the mechanical bull was ready to be challenged! The subtle interior design was a mix of an industrial concrete playgrounds meets adult Nickelodeon with fun, frenzy galore and highlighting community artists generously. I am so happy I finally got around to visiting and look forward to returning to attend one of their community workshop classes!

I want to say it was some sort of doll show or art show I can't remember. It was years ago. Probably 35 years ago if I had to be exact. We're here we are again. On a cold winter day me and my girlfriend decided to to come check out the orange show. I'm glad we did. It's a very unique place. Lots of cool looking art. One of a kind. You gotta love Houston for stuff like this. Kind of gives you just that nostalgia feeling. I can't remember how long ago this was made but it's pretty old. I believe this is some sort of historical home now. Or a free exhibit for the community I can't remember actually but if you never been here before I highly recommend you come by and stop by and see it. Houston history.

Remember that you can't take any food inside during the performances! They can kick you out if they catch you snacking. Drinks are ok though. The only thing I dislike is panting in the underground garage. You will have to do quite a bit of walking to come up from under to enter the venue. I don't mind personally, but if your date is dolled up in heels, you may want to uber, valet park closer, or find street park in the surrounding blocks. It's a smaller stage production but they still bring companies that bring it and put on a great performance. We'll definitely be back!

We were sat very close to the production and it was so amazing to see all the actors so close! I will say that the staff was very efficient and amazing when we came into the facility. They will call window was quick and coming to check your ticket in was also very efficient. Definitely recommend as something new and cool to do if you are in the area.

Here goes the detailed version! I was looking for some classy-looking thank you cards. I went to several stationary shops nearby : Anvil Cards, The Space Montrose, H.E.B (yes not a stationary shop but they sell cards), Whole Earth (somehow I was hoping this outdoors gear shop would sell cards), Trader Joes, and even B&N. Sadly they all failed me. Don't get me wrong, these are all fantastic shops for unique and hilarious cards (especially Anvil and The Space Montrose). They just don't sell what I was looking for. So I stumbled upon this shop and my oh my they swept me off my feet! For you drivers out there, they have PLENTY parking spaces for tiny cars and SUVs! First when I walked in, I was greeted by a lovely elder lady (sadly I didn't get her name) who asked me what I was looking for and immediately went to look for them. She obviously knew what she was doing, she zoomed from one corner to another and pulled out several cards for me. Then suddenly I heard little happy taps and low and behold they have a little lap dog with a red sweater named CeCe!!! CeCe will make sure to sniff your shoes and greet you as you walk in. The best greeter in town if you ask me. I proceeded to look around on my own because I like to explore. The ladies in store were very thoughtful and knew that so they let me roam. If you are looking for high quality cards, this is the place! They have 100% cotton cards, Downton Abbey stationary sets, embossed and debossed cards, quill cards, leather notebooks, etc. Also this would be a good place to get cards for your wedding or baby showers. I heard they also do personalized Christmas cards. Now if you are hoping to get a good bang for your bucks, this will not be the place. Before this store I got a pack of 50 average-quality cards for $10 on Amazon. Here, $10 would get you 3-5 cards. But you do get what you pay for since they are very nice paper and feel amazing when you write (especially with a fountain pen). I took photos of the 2 boxes that I bought. Both are very very pretty and I'm very happy with them. Also, they take Apple Pay!!!

The staff are engaging, knowledgeable, and willing to share at the level of knowledge of the individual. They have exceptional programs for adults and children alike. The most resent event for children, Fania's Heart was a beautiful, dynamic piece, it safely brings the children into the holocaust learning experience, and then in the end returns them out safely. Introducing the inspiring concept of "upstanders", who do what is right, and stand up for those unable to do so for themselves. I strongly recommend you go to this museum, it's exceptional.

Overall: 4.5/5 We…read morecame to see The Undercurrents, an immersive installation by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. Each time slot is 30 minutes and they start on time so come early to find parking. If you have to wait, the park right outside is a nice spot to walk around. The ticket price was reasonable too. They also have a tour guide with you from start to finish who is available to answer any questions about the installation, which was really helpful. It was a very unique experience and one of the coolest parts was that you can record messages and they become part of the actual art installation.
