I also almost always avoid off airport rentals as a rule. Given the price and the glowing reviews I thought I would give Lucky Owl a shot. I'm very glad I did. The pickup process was super easy, just walked across the street from the southwest baggage claim where the pickup spot #4 was designated. Made the call and they were there rather quick. At the counter there was no sales push or tactics, they just verified my ID and CC then handed me the keys. Their rules were clearly laid out next to the window. They took photos of the cars condition and encouraged me to do the same. I also received the exact car stated on my reservation. No issues with the car for the 2 weeks we were there. Someone mentioned you blend in with their cars as a local, I don't know how but it did feel that way, hahaha. I especially liked the rubber floor mats which made cleaning easy. My one recommendation would be a trunk/hatch rubber mat. I know they are much harder to come by, but it would help with sandy beach gear. Speaking of, they even offer to rent beach gear! My airbnb came with some, but its great to know for next time. Drop off was just as easy as pickup. Their rental terms mention excess sand has a fee and there is a Texaco close to their location with vacuums. I wasn't sure if we had reached the "excess" level but why not treat the car with respect and clean up after yourself since Lucky Owl treated us well. When I got back they took a couple photos of the condition just like the pickup and had the shuttle ready to take me to the airport. No question I will be renting from here again next time in Oahu! At drop off, park at the designated parking spots, take the keys to the office and they will check the car out while you wait in the office. Definitely using them again!

To get a quote, simply fill out the questionnaire and Richard will get back to you quickly, same day or next business day. You can also call and he can give you a quote quickly. I am 24, turning 25 in May, so a lot of the other places were up-charging significantly for the young rider fee. Although I did not get the breakout of the underage fee, the inclusive price was still better than every other competitor. My questionnaire: 19 day economy rental, during peak season (mid-Dec to early Jan). Located near the Hilton Hawaiian Village, this Enterprise is a convenient option for tourists staying in Waikiki. You can book online and cancel anytime without even having to provide credit card info initially. And you can optionally check in the day before to expedite your pickup. The rental office is small and a little hard to find, and Google Maps shows the wrong location. The easiest way to find it is to look for "ABC Stores #36", as the rental office is right next to it. Don't confuse it with the other ABC Stores location which is also at the Village. The staff was very friendly and helpful and didn't try to upsell us on features. I liked that spouses can be added as an authorized driver for free (requires presenting your license). We booked an economy car and were given a Mitsubishi Mirage, a decent compact car. The cars are located in the adjacent parking garage, and leaving and later returning the car was a snap. We dropped off the car the following night and put the keys in the drop box, and Enterprise promptly emailed a finalized receipt the next morning. The total for our 2-day rental was $308 after taxes and fees, not unreasonable for Waikiki. While this probably wasn't the cheapest rental place in town, it was a convenient and all-around reliable option, which for us was a win!

The vehicles are upstairs in the Parking Garage after they get you checked out. Pro tip, check with your Credit Card Company (Amex, Etc.) and your Car insurance to see what coverages you have and how that covers a rental car that way you aren't paying unnecessary additional coverage with Enterprise Rental Cars (this is how they make a lot more money, when people add all the additional packages). Also, don't forget to fill up your car before returning it because the gas costs $6.25 per Gallon if you bring it back less than where it was when you picked it up. You can drive around the entire Island at around 6 hours. I'd recommend hitting North Shore and doing the different Hikes on the Island. There's also a large Swap Meet on the Weekend at Aloha Stadium if you're looking to get more for your money while you're there.
