First of all let me say that I highly recommend a tour here. They have free ones and they have paid ones. This was a free tour and it went on for about an hour. First thing we did we walk in the door was use hand sanitizer. All staff and all the guests were masks the entire time because at the time of this post we are still going through the COVID-19 pandemic.))) The tour starts as soon as we enter the room and we get to learn about a family that lived here through the generations and their history and legacy in Bristol. WILLIAM HULME GRUNDY decides to leave Philadelphia and move to this little hamlet on the Delaware River and get in the wool trade. Grundy Brothers and Campion moved their operations to Bristol in 1876. Ends up being quite lucrative and What we get to learn here is the brother and sister story of Joseph and Margaret Grundy. Joseph is sentimental about his namesake , a hero in the civil war. Felt he should make something of his life. Margaret had a rough time with her dad's death & a trip to Europe with her mom didn't exactly heal her broken heart but mom was able to visit some doctors to help her daughter. They traveled the word for a decade! Wow. I think this gave her direction and she sorted out her direction as she returned home to Pennsylvania. She dove into things of ladies of wealth did, yes entertained in her house on the banks for the Delaware... she painted as well as gardened. Can I also state that yes it was fascinating to see the Victorian bathroom. I was very struck to see the excessive use of wallpaper in a home. It accompanied decorative carpeting and curtains. The cherry blossom room was especially cheeky so much so that I felt like as if I was a character in a Roz Chast cartoon . Interesting to see the pageantry of the olden days that really seem modest compared to some other tycoon contemporaries . How nice that Joseph dedicated the museum/family home in his beloved sister's name & shares the history with Bristol and all who visit it! ~*~ One thing I was looking forward to was the getting about their precious Mother's Day card kits. The set is to make a Victorian Mother's Day card! They looked beautiful online! And they had a similar event around Valentine's Day. Also complimentary. Looked so frilly and fancy and precious. Didn't get one but I saw it on the website. The tour guide was enthusiastic in sharing his version of the Grundy Family stories & introduced the rooms. Next door is the Grundy Library. I look forward to seeing it when it's ready...in summer (?!) I would definitely return for another tour. Lots to enjoy in this delightful town. From the moment you enter you feel like you are anywhere but Northeast Philly! The grounds are pretty expansive with a variety of landscape design. It's a gorgeous place to wander on a nice day. It's also the ideal spot for a photo shoot - tons of backdrop options!! They do have limited visiting hours so check online before you plan to go - and you will need a ticket. I went on one of their few 'Open Saturdays.' Tickets were $15 each and for a two hour time period. I specifically went to have some photos taken and was not disappointed with them! Stunning backgrounds and lighting. Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch and sit out by the water, which I did. There is so much space which makes it easy for social distancing, though it wasn't crowded at all. Parking is easy, too. They have a large grassy area fir cars to park on. I believe they have a restroom for guests too, though I didn't use it. This is such a beautiful spot, I will definitely be back in the spring to see the flowers blooming!

If you need to use the restroom before the Tour, use the one in the Betsy Ross House because the one in the Starbucks across the street didn't have any toilet paper. We had a very big group but Toni kept us all together. She is such a gem - a much better storyteller than the Tour guide from the Independence Hall. This tour with Toni made up for the anticlimactic one from the Independence Hall. She was very thoughtful and made sure we always stopped in the shade since it was a very hot day. Her stories were entertaining and engaging. I loved all the historical snippets she'd give us about the timeperiod of the founding fathers. We got so lucky because Benjamin Franklin's printing press was finally opened after a 10-year closure. Such a great addition to The Tour. You donate whatever you want at the end and I would highly recommend it if you're in Philly.

We went to elfreth's alley where we spent close to 30 minutes learning about the Trinity style architecture and lots more. We walked to the courtyard of the Ben Franklin museum. And that seemed among the "best things" to us. So we wanted to post a heads up to others via Yelp about this tour for others who might enjoy it. There are but twelve covered bridges remaining of the original three dozen originally built in Buck's' County Pennsylvania. Thanks to the hard work of some dedicated folks, the twelve that remain are maintained for all of us to enjoy. This driving (or biking) tour will take you to all of them - or some if you prefer not to do the entire tour. For our two bits, this is a great way to spend a day, including a stop at Bowman's Hill Tower to take in the views and the history of that site (it's on the tour path so you're missing out if you don't stop here) and Bowman' Wildlife Preserve. In particular on a beautiful fall day as we did last week. (Both the Tower and Preserve are in New Hope.) The Wildlife Preserve has a picnic area outside the gates so taking along a picnic lunch is a great idea. And inside the gates, there are bathrooms at the visitor center...hooray. Tickets aren't crazy expensive. It was just over $16 for my adult ticket. It gave me access to the museum, which is really the second floor. In one small space is a museum about Turkey Hill's history, how ice cream is made, etc. It's very interactive with an area to make your own ice cream flavor, commercial, and more. The ice cream sampling area is great. They give you healthy scoops. There's also an area to try their iced tea and lemonade and learn how it's made. The bottom level is a giant gift shop with toys, clothes, and more. There's a large parking lot out front.

Then I found Turkey Hill Ice cream Experience only 30min away from Lancaster, and decided to visit. We bought the double scoop experience (comes with ice cream test lab) and obviously that was the highlight of the place! The test lab is about 45min experience and the whole thing with self-guided tour takes about 1hr 30min to 2 hours depending how crowded it is. The visit was fun and of course my 5-year-old daughter had a great time eating tons of ice cream!

Super excited and filled with festive joy, we walk into Craft Hall around 8:20 pm for our 9 pm tour. We brought our BYOB, and the young lady at the door takes our liquor while we wait for our tour time. We check in with an older gentleman who stated we had to wait around to get the included pizza in the reserved session because it was for the 8:30 pm tour. He'll let the 9:00 pm tour know when they're up. Still excited for the experience, we waited for our tour time to be called for the pizza, thinking they would bring out fresh, hot pizza--but no, no, no, that was wishful thinking. The same pizza was kept for our tour time, and it did not look appetizing at all. Not sure if it was just cheese pizza, but we decided not to even find out. It looks like the trolley tour had a partnership with Craft Hall, and they had a small menu where you could order food, but we were already disappointed by the looks and presentation of the pizza. Unfortunately, when it was time for us to get on the trolley, it was cold and started to rain. We were the first ones by the trolley, ready to get on, but were stopped by the host/organizer and told to wait outside so they could get the bigger groups on first. The groups of twos, like us, had to run on after. We ended up being almost last, even though we were first in line. That was not okay. Finally, we're on the trolley. Yayyy! The first part of the experience wasn't pleasant, but the guy singing and his personality were nice. We snagged a seat at the front and tried to get back in the holiday spirit. The trolley drove and drove, and the first stop was to briefly see City Hall's Christmas Tree. Some people got off the trolley to check it out. Then, the trolley drove and drove again until we got off on a corner to walk around and see the Smedley Street Christmas Lights, which were nice. We got back on and rode through The Miracle on South 13th Street. Unfortunately, the trolley's windows were very foggy, so we weren't really able to enjoy the decorations at that point. The execution of this tour wasn't the best experience from start to finish. The only thing that was truly enjoyable was singing along with the singer. The tour could've been more organized and unique to the different Christmas festivities around Philly.

My guests were left confused since their bus broke down and they had to call another one. This led to my guests arriving late to our wedding. I only found out months after my wedding that this occurred as David Thomas did not notify me of the issue. After months of going back and forth with their CFO, they were not accommodating with a refund. If you are planning to use David Thomas for your wedding, my advice would be to go with another company. They are disorganized and do not handle issues appropriately.
