    Nicest employees ever!
    Joyce H.

Wow! First time I have been here but I just wanted to say that the staff here is really helpful and kind. The first employee helped me find tomato cages and check out. He explained their reward card to me and was so nice. The second employee said "have a great day," as I left and a third employee gave a small waved and smiled as I was leaving. Honestly, if I lived near by, I'd be here all the time, just for the amazing interactions. Great value on plants and huge selection. They have everything from pots, statues, soil, to plants, trees and bushes.

LOVE this place!! I heard about this place from Dig Plant Water Repeat and Napa Valley Boy on YouTube. Very nice, reasonably priced plant nursery. They have a better variety and selection of plants and trees in the area. And the workers are very knowledgeable and helpful. I love that there's a great nursery close by that is not a box store. Definitely shop local and shop small family-owned businesses.

Tomato plants, healthy and growing like crazy. Already have many buds

I've mistakenly avoided this nursery in the past and regret it! This year I popped in looking for an unusual plant; not only found it at a reasonable price, but picked up my garden veggies at the same time. Pricing was surprisingly good, some items less than at Home Depot, and the quality was amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Pictured is one of my tomato gardens a mere week after planting.

Huge collection of plants. We only really wanted to find the indoor plant section and it was hard to find so we had to ask - the worker enthusiastically led us to the way. Plant prices are decent. I wouldnt say the cheapest, but definitely not expensive as others! They all seem to be well taken care of!

The tree I purchased, even tho' it looked like a stick.

As far as nurseries go, Van Winden's Garden Center - with its highway adjacent location - didn't knock my socks off but today, less than 6 weeks after purchase, the dwarf fig tree that looks not much different than a stick is suddenly bearing two tiny figs. My excitement over that fact has likely brought an enthusiasm to this review that previously would not have existed. Wandering the outdoor spaces at Van Winden's, the only thing that caught my fancy were fig trees, all of which looked like a similar variety of stick. I'd selected one before a worker here pointed me in a different direction given what she knew about fig trees, their size, and their growing patterns. In hand I'd held a fig tree that actually looked like it might produce something sometime in my lifetime but after speaking with her I swapped that one out for the Violette De Bordeaux Fig which looked like it might not produce anything ever. I had hope but not belief and now I'm joyous. Van Winden's staff were helpful but perhaps not the garden-wonks present in some other nurseries; It was on me to look up my planting zone. The indoor spaces (including the area where one pays) at Van Winden's appeared to have some unique gift items but it's covid times, so I endeavored not to linger in those spaces. This nursery is a good-enough distraction if you're in the area and itching to purchase something for your garden. I'd not go out of my way for Van Winden's and I've definitely enjoyed more inviting, colorful nurseries, but if I wanted a second dwarf fig tree you can bet I'd make a b-line back.

Beautiful rose selection, this is my favorite

This place has been in business for 70 yrs for a reason. Great selection, decently priced. Great service! Picked up a few bonsai starters from lone pine garden to add to my collection. The grounds are well maintained and organized.

Reviews seem good but there is inadequate parking so who knows? It's on a dead end street that needs serious re-paving.

Ask the Community - Van Winden's Garden Center

What kind of indoor plants do they sell, if any?

Is the nursery open right now? Through shelter at home? Do they deliver if things are ordered by phone?…

Just reopened on Friday with limited hours and people allowed in.

I've been missing out! The store is nicely organized into sections. Although for some of the sections items were rather jumbled, and there was a bit of a rummage needed HomeGoods differs from other discounted stores with their extensive stock of familiar and somewhat higher end brands. Just to pick out something randomly I noticed they had Dr. Bronner's soaps and some Dr. Teals products. Unlike other discounted chains, I've heard of and used both their products in the past and I was pleased with both. They also had brands which I own, the globals and the aroma. The discounts were quite reasonable. But I am a pretty hardened shopper. I have a nearly impenetrable defense which generates a force field which the store must break down. Here are some of the factors which must be overcome Must not be a duplicate. Duplication happens more often than not. Must be practical. Must fit in my space. I don't have much space. Must be a genuine discount. Not those frou -frou 20% off fake sales, which are designed to fool the gullible. Stay away from stores that raise the original price in order to offer what seems like a pretty good discount. Macys I'm looking at you. Must be from a brand that equals or exceeds the quality and performance of what I already have. Must be in one of my areas of interest. That would be cooking, books or for some mysterious reason my sock addiction. All resistance can be eliminated if the item is sufficiently beautiful. HomeGoods came really, really close to punching through the protective force field, melting my brain and turning me into a complete zombie who would willingly shuffle to the register, precious cargo loaded in my arms, and burning a hole in my credit cards. There is absolutely no doubt if I keep returning to the store, I will be zombified. Now that is what I call a great store!

Of course, you can bring your own containers, they will weigh the container so you pay only for the product not the container. The store is an odd mixture of what looks like really giftable items and essentially a bunch of reusable containers both empty and already filled. Towards the back, there are enormous containers of dish soap, laundry detergent, hand soap and what have you. You have some choices in terms of scent. All the scents I noticed were from natural sources. I haven't had a chance to fully process the prices but it looks like you pay the full price for the refillable container you purchase plus you pay a price roughly equivalent to going to the supermarket to pick up a similar product for the refill. I have tried the laundry detergent, the dish soap and the liquid hand soap. All of the products work well. The fragrance for the liquid soaps is definitely a cut above your standard supermarket brand. The scents are coming from natural ingredients, they didn't irritate my eczema, induce migraines the way artificial fragrances will do to me, or nauseate me. I didn't have any allergic reactions to any of the products. The dish soap is reasonably gentle but might not be the gentlest one on the market. I went thru a couple of days when I had to wash load after load of pots and I noticed my hands started bleeding. Perhaps it was just all the cooking and perhaps it was overexposure to the soap. I temporarily switched to using rubber gloves and my blue Kirkland brand and the problem has not returned. But for routine use, the Juniper Station version is more pleasant and doesn't normally cause my hands to bleed. Thanks to my allergies I went through a few products reading ingredients labels. Just about all the products use naturally sourced ingredients with safer choices substituting for more problematic chemicals. I did purchase one item intending to give it as a gift. But then I realized unless the gifted has access to a refillable station it's rather pointless. And unless the person wants to refill, it's double pointless. So essentially I purchased a nice refillable container and a large sample of soap instead of the actual concept of refill-ability. But this is a great place to pick up gift worthy refillable containers. I paid more for a similar container decades ago at Target. It lasted 15 or so years before it finally bit the dust. If you're looking for more eco-friendly choices, this store offers some truly spectacular options as long as you live within convenient refill distance.
