If the staff are nice, that's a bonus. This place has it all and deserves all five stars I'm bestowing. I initially went to their Granville Street location to inquire about tattoo removal, and they referred me to this Kits site, saying that the laser tattoo removal machine at Kits is state of the art, requires less repeat visits and is the least painful. (I wish I remember the name of this machine, but I researched it online and indeed, it was new and highly reviewed "in the biz"). The staff at this Granville site were friendly and helpful to me, but I did not get anything done here, as I went to Kits instead. I was impressed, though, with how big this store was (and, as a side note, my kid got two ear cartilage piercings here - unbeknownst to me! , - and she told me, weeks after the fact, that the staff here were very friendly and professional with her and they did a great job. So, kudos to the Granville store!). Back to Kits....there's a guy there named Craig who is unbelievably awesome with tattoo removals. I can't say enough about him. He won't make promises that he can't back up (I really respect people who tell it to me straight), and he is patient in explaining the whole process, from beginning to end, including follow-up care and procedures. I've now been back to him three times over the past 18 months. My tattoo is nearly gone (most people probably would have been happy with the results after the second zapping, as it was so faint, but my goal is for it to be totally GONE. I think the third time's the charm). Once I did not prepare in advance and did not put on the topical EMLA cream, which numbs the area, and it did hurt more than the other two times. Not crazy-painful, but like continuous snapping of an elastic on my skin. But with the cream application, it was barely noticeable. And Craig uses a cold fan of sorts to the area simultaneously as he zaps the area with the laser. I'm talking numbing cold. It really helps to minimize the pain, confusing the nerve pain receptors to the brain somehow. Anyhow, even without the EMLA cream, it was totally do-able. But if you can apply the cream in advance, it does make a difference. (I got the cream at the No Frills on Broadway for a very reasonable price. Worth every cent). It's not cheap here but there's NO WAY I'd scrimp pennies on tattoos or piercings or laser tattoo removals! No WAY! Craig and the rest of the staff here are super friendly. The kind of folks you'd want to be friends with (and, coming from me, a straightlaced, suburban-mom-type, yes, I'm saying I'd love to be friends with these 20-something guys and gals with huge gauge earring holes and multiple piercings and tattoos. These guys are incredibly warm and nice and, anyhow, everything else is just superficial stuff). And more importantly, they adhere strictly to the highest of standards and professionalism. The store has a small selection of cute gift items for sale, too: cell phone cases, water bottles, beach towels and t-shirts, etc. FYI: there's also an Adrenaline in Toronto and Montreal.

When I brought my piece to be done to the other artist, she was shocked on how badly it was done, and that Adrenaline should really be refunding me. When I brought up my concerns to adrenaline, they basically blamed me and said because I went to another artist and "didn't give them the opportunity to fix it" they wouldn't refund anything. Furthermore, they decided to blame how "red ink settles differently" LOL hilarious... look at the zoomed in red snake attached. TERRIBLE. Sloppy. Inconsistent. It's the lines from the artist not the RED INK, Adrenaline... In what world would I want to come back for another artist to mess it up further?! No person would do that. I'm sure all the tattoo artists here have that same level of skill set so yes of course I went to a different shop. And I didn't even ask for a full refund, all I was requesting was a partial. The fact that Adrenaline & Olya can look at these photos and say it's "well done" And not understand why I'm upset...is laughable. Adrenaline is a money hungry, franchised trash bin of a tattoo shop. It's a good place if you want something simple and small & straightforward but anything other than that, don't go here lol. This is the type of tattoos adrenaline does! And they don't even own up to their own mess ups either.

Tattoo: There is a vibe here that I find a bit off-putting. Sometimes the people at the front desk have been courteous, but often aloof to the point of unfriendly. Nicole is so good, she's so friendly and she distracts you as much as possible during your appointment which is really helpful because it's pretty painful. The stress balls help, use them! It's really fast, and if you follow the proper upkeep (wearing tape over your healing area, wearing sunscreen, keeping it out of the sun, massaging your ointment into it) you do see results by the second session. It's a bit of a drive for me but Nicole can show you some of the results from other people's experiences. It's worth it. Even the darkest of tattoos can be removed which blew my mind. My tattoo is an old, black tribal tattoo so it's going to take a good long while to get rid of fully but the fact you CAN get rid of tattoos pretty much fully is awesome!

I had done my research online about permanent eyebrows and decided on Shauna after all the positive reviews. It bothered me are that she did not explain to me that 2 sessions are needed to test how the color you choose will look on your skin once the tattoo heals and the scabs fall off (BTW the pictures she posts on her website are taken right after she's done with the tattoo, the color and shape changes a lot after it's healed and scabs fall off). After showing her a picture of what I wanted my eyebrows to look like she dismissed it and drew something completely different on my face simply because she doesn't like the actress in the picture I showed her. This made it harder to achieve the look I wanted and after the first session my brows didn't look like what we had agreed on. I ended up with big gaps between strokes and had to continue filling in my eyebrows with a pencil because the color was too light. On the second session I explained to her what I did not like about the eyebrows and after going back and forth I finally ended up with the color I wanted and the shape I wanted. I was expecting that after the first session and seeing how the color reacted on my skin she would know what color to use to achieve what I had asked her for, but she didn't. I had to choose the color for myself. During this second session she was very short with me, didn't apply enough freezing so I had to endure the pain, to which she said "sorry, you just have to suck it up". Yes, she is very clean and has many certifications, there's no question about that, but after my experience with her I will keep looking for other alternatives when the time comes to redo my brows. It's also $300 every time you need a touch up. I have a friend that goes to an Asian salon that charges a fraction of that and her eyebrows look very good too - but they don't speak English there, that's why I went with Shauna.

Also beyond my expectations, Shauna gave me a follow up call a week after each session to ensure the healing process has gone smoothly! I mean who does that? My dentist surely doesn't....neither have any of my previous tattoo artists. To my utmost surprise....this was by far the most superior service I've ever received! It's clear that Shauna not only cares about her work but about her clients - ensuring that they are satisfied with her work. I've had so many compliments on my brows since then and no one believes they've been inked. They are so natural - I absolutely love them (unlike those deep and dark straight lines from other places). I was supposed to do this procedure last year but had to hold off because of personal reason. I've already did consult last year but Terry wanted to do another one to make sure all my concerns and questions are addressed. I used to go to a different skin clinic before. Unfortunately, the other clinic has gone too busy and too commercialized. The personal touch is gone in my opinion. One thing I like about The One Skin is how they make you feel they care about you. Terry is very kind and you can feel his sincerity. The whole procedure took almost 3 hours including post care. I'm not going to lie. The procedure is painful but tolerable. The numbing cream really helped. The package I bought includes 3 sessions of Scarlet RF, 3 post procedure care and 3 peeling treatments done 2 weeks after SRF.
