I found Dr. Sharma to be knowledgeable and caring. I see many different doctors for a complicated health situation and she is top notch.

Dr. Mcnamara saved my life. She is the best!…read more 2021 was a tough year for many people and probably the most difficult year for me personally. In summer 2021, I started having unknown reason fever and rashes for weeks and I even go admitted to hospital for over a week without any diagnosis. When I was so desperate and felt hopeless, Dr. Mcnamara arrived in hospital and checked me 5 am in the morning multiple times. She was so professional, careful, considerable and confident. She gave me tremendous help and encouraged me things were under control. She quickly made my treatment plan and got me out of hospital in several days! Since my condition needs more treatment in the following months. I regularly visited her office. Every time, I felt better and better based on the treatment she gave me. Without a doubt, Dr. Mcnamara's 20 years practice on this high professional level is a blessing to all patients she has helped! I want to say thank you again! She is also flexible on time, on communication methods. I could easily call her whenever I need any advices or I had any questions. She would just call me back and patiently answers all my questions. I have never met a doctor like this before in my life! Last but not least, Dr. Mcnamara makes patient feel comfortable. She makes you feel that you are not only talking to a super capable and excellent doctor but also a long time friend. She remembers about your conditions, she cares about your feelings and your life. Her treatment plan to patient is so well designed based on YOUR situation, not a same template to everyone. All in all, Dr. Mcnamara is an angel to her patients. I could not say more to express my huge gratitude her!

Thank you, Dr. McNamara: My heart-felt appreciation for making my successfully treatment plan, in a word, miraculous. It began with a competent and personable doctor who provided a comprehensive evaluation and prescribed an aggressive plan of action. The team Dr. McNamara compiled were the best in the industry and provided excellent care and support. Always testing, cross checking, and personally following up on results. The office environment is relaxing and assuring. It made me feel safe and at home. Sunip, also deserve recognition as she supports Dr. McNamara. They make a great team and are extremely responsive. In short, Dr. McNamara literally saved my life. Words can't describe the faith and trust I have in her skill and ability. Forever grateful.

I was told my mom needed a bone density but on the order it didn't state where she should get this done nor did the receptionist suggest a facility. I called their office and the first time they picked up and hung up on me. I called back and was put on hold for 10mins and someone picked up and hung up again. I then called back for the 3rd time and they turned off their phones at 4:45pm. Horrible patient care. I work at UCSF and I would never treat patients like this. I need to request for another rheumatologist for my mom which is unfortunate because the doctor was kind but staff is horrible. They need to fire their unprofessional staff and hire people who really care for patients.

I decided to get this 2nd opinion on the diagnosis because the first Rheumatologist I visited only offered up one treatment solution, Methorexate (a harsh, disease modifying drug that has also been used to treat cancer). I liked Dr. Okereke's bedside manner during our first appointment and I felt that she gave me a thorough exam before ultimately recommending the same treatment option as the first doctor. The one star review is not a result of my initial consultation with Dr. Okereke (though I had to call half a dozen times and leave 3 messages to make that appointment). My frustration is about 50/50, Dr. Okereke and her office staff. I have had several appointments with Dr. Okereke and a few have required follow up over the phone. I have had issues getting through every time I call. My voicemails go unanswered and I'm lucky if I'm actually able to connect with the doctor herself. When I do connect with office staff, they seem confused by very simple requests to speak with MY(!) doctor. To continue, a few weeks ago my hair began falling out as a side effect of the medication. As a 30 year old woman with long hair, this was quite devastating. I called Dr. Okereke immediately to advise on the situation. She called me back a few days later, suggested lowering the medication dosage and told me to call back in 2-3 weeks. I was a little upset that she neglected to mention hair loss as a common side effect of this medication as everything I had researched online noted it to be much less common. She was not surprised at all that my hair was falling out. Two weeks later, my hair is falling out at an increased rate (I have lost more than 50% of the hair on my head). I called 5 or 6 times and left 2 messages in an attempt to reach Dr. Okereke for advice on the situation. I stopped taking the medication, because I didn't hear back, and with hope that I wouldn't lose what is left of my hair. I finally received a call back from the office staff this evening; a "courtesy follow up" on my side effects and having no knowledge of my recent voicemails. I told her I had stopped taking the medication and asked that she cancel my future appointments with Dr. Okereke. This is not the type of relationship I want with any doctor. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that you can count on getting a hold of this doctor when you need her (during normal business hours) and you can't count on her staff to deliver your messages or return your phone calls. I wouldn't recommend seeking treatment here.

I met with Dr. Jacobs on December 12 to go over the changes so we could get the ball rolling and not have a delay in my immune treatment which I require every 3 weeks to stay healthy due to a serious immune disorder. He assured me that it would be handled well. Then almost month later I call back and find out nothing has been done. The office didn't have a new script from the Dr. The contract worker they had hired to deal with insurance benefits at the office still didn't know I had a new pharmacy benefits provider. She was trying to order the old medication from the old benefits provider. So I spent the next two weeks on the phone for entire days - leaving messages, waiting on hold, coordinating between nursing staff (bc the dr was now on vacation), the independent contractor who didn't understand my insurance change, my pharmacy benefits provider and the pharmacy filing the order. Babysitting grown adults who are getting paid to apparently not do their jobs. The office at first admitted to dropping the ball, then they each slowly started to blame other people in the office and I realized what a toxic dysfunctional mess the whole operation was. Perhaps they once were good - the vast majority of these five star reviews are many years old. Today, I think they can handle routine allergy shots. That's their bread and butter. Anything more is a deep stretch for their abilities. In the end I finally got my medication two weeks late and it would have been even later if I hadn't borrowed a medical pump to use from a complete stranger. This was an incredibly stressful process that would have been avoided if people at this office understood how to do their jobs.
