This is a gruesome tale of peel and stick gone wrong, and the hero who saved the day. You see, I'm addicted to HGTV due in large part to my love of interior design. Whew, the first step is admitting there's a problem. So, after purchasing my first home, I finally had the opportunity to "put my own stamp" on the house. After years of HGTV's psychological conditioning that peel and stick is so easy to install even the entry level DIY'er can't screw it up, I decided to shoot my shot and ordered a fun peel and stick option from Amazon. As for the installation, that wasn't terrible. Patience, discipline and a stiff drink afterward were the key to success. However, my wallpaper selection ended up looking like a bad dorm room - not at all the sophisticated and whimsical pop of color and pattern I had in my head from watching thousands of hours of Drew & Jonathan Scott, Joanna Gaines, Jasmine Roth, etc. during the pandemic. So, this is where things go from bad to worse, and the lies of peel and stick came to light. I did the right thing, went to a proper wallpaper store, found a beautiful grass cloth that achieved my original intention, and hired a professional to install. As I started the "simple" process of removing the wallpaper, I quickly realized that yes, it is "simple" to remove, but what those websites and shows don't tell you is that it also "simply" removes your drywall. Enter our hero, Joe with Vandelay Wallpaper. He managed to work me in his schedule as quickly as possible (he likely sensed my desperation to bury all evidence of my previous mistakes). He evaluated the situation, let me know he could fix the damage, and would leave me with the most beautifully appointed alcoves. I'm absolutely in love with the work he did - he gave the grass cloth the care and attention it deserved. Not all heroes wear capes. Some come in shorts and a t-shirt wielding a power sander and industrial grade primer. Needless to say, I highly recommend Joe for any of your wallpaper needs. Vandelay Wallpaper is the very best! We had a large project with complicated murals, ceilings, cut out spaces, and rooms all papered with imported fine papers. Joe magically transformed every space into a work of art. He is a perfectionist, artist, and amazing person who spent tireless days/nights on what sometimes was a jigsaw puzzle with designs and angles. We would fly Joe cross-country work on other rooms because he is the best in the USA. We absolutely love each space. It has character, beauty, charm, fun and a minimalist simplicity with industrial accents. Each room is a conversation and reminds me of walking through a gallery. Sometimes you just get excellent service from people who do what they say they're going to do on time and with great personalities. It happened with this company. They squeezed me in, were efficient and even did a side job while here. There was one small snafu where we needed different glue on a surface and guess what within two days they were here fixing it.
