Horrible horrible and horrible. First, my son gets a car from there and they don't even tell him it's an "open loan". They make my husband put him on his insurance before he leaves the dealership which makes no sense if this is an "open loan". So he signs all this paperwork just for them to call him and say bring it back we need to find another bank. First they say one down payment and then when you get there they increase it by 1500. The call and say bring 2000 which we make happen and then you get there and they say nope it's 3500. What a horrible experience. Never will we recommend this place. I dread coming here ... a miscommunication i guess between me and the front desk lady when I called . I had an appointment Saturday at 8:30 , she advised me it will take 2-3 hours I agreed . Turns out they had to keep my car until Monday . Then One of the front desk rude af . Didn't let me finish my sentences and transfer me to whoever can help me . Vandergriff Honda engages in questionable business practices that have permanently lost my business and my families business (2 customers) effective yesterday. Issue #1 My 2010 Honda Accord (130K) has had the check engine light come on 4x in less than 9 months. For a Honda, this should not be happening. But, the service department also failed to figure out the problem, which one would think we have happened at visit #2 or at least by #3. Instead, they had me just keep replacing expensive parts. I spent thousands cumulatively to maintain the car recently because I really liked the car Issue #2 -- materially questionable business practice As a result of the above, I asked them to give me a quote to buy my car outright (this was in writing to my service advisor, Duane) and verbally to my sales POC, Kevin. Given my disappointment with Honda as a brand (e.g. a check engine light on a 130K car that is supposedly to be one of the most reliable), I was not ready to buy a new car and wanted an outright estimate. They originally came in at $2500. This was not market - even WITH the repair they were suggesting. CONTEXT: Market value of the car (Source: Kelley BB & Edmunds) is $5.8K-6.3K. There suggested repair was $1580. To be conservative, I will say the car was worth the lower end of $5.8 minus the the repair of $1.6K = $4.2K market value. Market comps on the exact car are: $8.3K for the same car, but with 170K miles to $10K for the same car with ~90K. So, estimated market resale post the repair is about $9K (again, conservatively). At $4.2K that is over 50% profit margin for the dealer leaving a sufficient margin of safety. After explaining this to my contact, Kevin, he spoke to Dillian Cox and Dillian bumped the outright offer on the car to $5K. I told Kevin "deal," but that it would take ~2 hours for me to get the title from home and then drive back to Arlington to complete paperwork. Upon arrival, Dillian changed his mind and said we would only give $2.5K for the car, RE-TRADING THE DEAL AFTER I DROVE 2 HOURS to complete the transaction. This was the first major issue. Then, Dillian claimed that he thought it was a trade in (which is not true and I have a voicemail from Kevin's cell phone to prove it). Dillian then tried to gaslight me and say that I miscommunicated, but, oh darling, I have the receipts. I don't doubt there was a miscommunication, but it was internal within Vandergriff. These are sketchy business practices at best. They gave me the key to my car and I sold it FOR MARKET VALUE to Grapevine Honda who honored their word instead of lying and re-trading the deal like Vandergriff did after I drove 2 hours. Issue #3 -- "Adding insult to injury" When I went outside (after Dillion returned the key to my car), my car had: 1) half a tank of gas used 2) over 200 new miles on my car (to be fair, they need to test drive it for diagnostic assessment, but not over 200 miles) 3) The passenger side of the vehicle was literally trashed with junk, which the Grapevine Honda sales guy and I cleaned up 4) WORSE -- they returned my car with a thick layer of tree sap all over it. For those that don't know, tree sap canNOT be removed in a traditional car wash AND it destroys the paint if left on too long. Of note, the GM and I spoke today. Of course, Dillion Cox is telling a different story (e.g. he is incentivized to lie, whereas I am not since my vehicle was sold to Grapevine Honda at market value). The GM, Wesley, was professional on the call, but I don't know him personally - I have no idea if it will address the issues or not. Overall, Vandergriff Honda lost my business and my families business PERMANENTLY due to (1) highly questionable business practices, (2) unprofessionalism, and (3) complete lack of integrity (e.g. lying, covering it up, not honoring their word, etc). I basically wanted to get a copy of a key for my daughter's car, because they are down to their last key. My daughter and her husband are very bad or let's say very good at losing their car keys, so I was trying to help them out. I drove my daughter and her husband to the airport, so they dropped off their car here at the house. Since I had their keys and time on my hands why not make copies for them. So, I headed to Vandergriff Honda to make these copies because this particular key is an awkward key that has to be made by some special machine because the machine at Home Depot couldn't make the copy. Anyways, I explained this to the guy at the parts counter here at Vandergriff Honda and this lame ass was asking for the VIN number and things of that nature and I was like why, when I have the key right here in my hand. Granted it wasn't an actual Honda key, it was a copied key, because again, my daughter and her husband are good at losing keys and guess what, they lost the original. I called about availability for a vehicle that was advertised in Carfax. It looked like a really good deal so I drove the 90 miles to get there, looked over the car and gave it a test drive. The car was advertised in Carfax for 11,772.00. I sat down with the salesman and he said there was an offer on the car.....but since I was there so it would be first come first served. Next he gave me a proposed price that included a conditioning fee? and additional surcharges that were all added to the "offered price" from the other supposed buyer. The first time I went to do an oil change the mechanics did not bolt back my splash shield correctly so a soon as I left it fell off and got a bit damaged from dragging. I had a rope to tie it and went back so they could bolt it on correctly which wasn't too much of a problem but the next time I went to do another one they did the same thing and it fell off in the freeway where it got damaged. I put in a one star because this happened two consecutive times but the second time I asked my mechanic if he could come over because I didn't have the bolts to put it back since they fell. It was such a hassle for something that should've been done the first time. I didn't ask if they could replace it because I moved and I didn't want to go back around Arlington. The people who work here are lazy and could care less about actually taking care of customers. Example: Regardless of needing it, this sales rep ran my credit rating when my son purchased a car. Then after doing that and expressing I should co-sign his loan, several employees told us that they never needed my credit. Because as far as Vandergriff Honda sales and finance people were concerned, They "don't care if you have a 600 or an 850 on your credit rating-people buying at Vandergriff Honda will get the exact same deal." FYI, the sales rep and the finance agent both said this asisain statement. In addition, when I mentioned that to a Manager, he too confirmed that Honda doesn't care what your credit rating is. To make matters worse, even though we were told my sons credit rating was good enough to get a deal, They still wouldn't let my son purchase his Civic without my co-signing. Even though my son NEVER needed a co-signer and the fact that Sales would NOT give us a better deal regardless of having over an 800 credit rating. Honestly, to say I felt disrespected is an understatement. To say that a comment about not caring at all what your credit rating is truly says how little this dealership does to get the sale. There's a reason everyone says buy from a private seller versus a dealership. Salespeople will say anything to get you to buy a vehicle, but when something goes wrong, the pitches change. Nate, the sales guy wouldn't budge on the unadvertised charges, and advocated for Honda Vandergriff's ability to provide a fully functional vehicle due to the practice of them doing multi-point inspection. This includes the cooling system. However, a day after having this vehicle, 2012 Honda CRV, the cooling became intermittent. I called and spoke a Nate regarding the issue and was told to call his manager, he couldn't do or say anything. Suddenly the customer service is non-existent. Now all of a sudden, I need to call myself. I called Mr. Wesley, a used car manager in the Used Car department in Arlington and explained the issue. He said bring the car in. I brought the car to the service department; they said it will take over the weekend to look at it. Monday, we got a quote for $4000 to change the compressor, condenser, expansion valve and everything else under the sun regarding A/C system. This was done as a 1 size fit all to not have to go through what it takes to specifically identify the leak in cooling system. Why are we getting a quote to handle this ourselves? They failed to catch this in their highly boasted multi-point inspection. I called back the used car manager, Mr. Wesley, and was told that they will not do anything to take care of this as I didn't purchase the $5000 extended warranty. I referenced that we just bought it and was told that we paid extra money for a multipoint inspection to be checked. He stated that they don't look for anything other than whether it cranks and start. So it jumped from a multipoint inspection to whether it cranks or not. So why did we paid the extra $500? For a car wash? Big difference. We spend our whole pre-approval check on this hot vehicle at the brink of summer. it's like an oven with a steering wheel. The customer service in use car sales suck. The manager doesn't care about selling good reliable vehicles. It's all about money. They want to sell cars with issues in hopes that you buy it to further sell you on auto repair services, in addition to extended warranty. They are basically selling you on paying to fix broken vehicles. It's a very large auto repair shop with the benefit of buying broken vehicles at a higher price. I thought that when you buy at a dealership, you will eliminate the possibility of buying a car with issues. That's why we pay the extra money at a dealership. But I beg you guys to run. Buy a new car if you are going to a dealership. Run away from the used car department. They do not do a multi-point inspection. As the manager stated: they only check to see if it cranks, drives and turns. They don't check A/C, suspension issues, alternators, batteries, leaks, etc. You are gambling on an overpriced used car. I had my confirmation as I had scheduled weeks ago online so I showed them this . I was checked in . During this process the service consultant stated that there may be recommended service on the car but he couldn't see it because his system was done . I told him I had recently purchased my car from auto nation about a year ago in Colorado and all the services from that point had been completed. Summary: Go to Autonation Lewisville. I went to Vandergriff to purchase a new vehicle. As soon as I arrived to meet the salesperson I was supposed to meet with, I was handed off to another salesperson (who does that??). And yes, we did say we would be willing to wait or come back. It went downhill from there. Bathrooms were so dirty we almost left (they were really bad). The sales cubicles were dirty also. One had this huge pile of old papers in the corner; like three feet high. How unprofessional. I found the general staff not polite; they all seemed fixated on their own world and could care a less about other customers. But the Problem began when the financial manager wanting to FORCE A DEAL BEING DONE TODAY WITH A VEHICLE I DIDNT WANT!! Then preceded TO gas light me with features and small cosmetic things. Worst Buying Experience ever. I bought a car bumper damage and needed to be repaired before I could take it home. They did provide me with a loaner till it was ready, however, after 3 weeks of waiting for the repairs to be completed the car was given to me without being detailed or inspected. I really want to get my old car back that I sold to them this week. I never had this many issues with Toyota as I have with Honda. I really broke down crying in the financial office because I had to pay for NEW tires when I asked the salesman about the used tires on the car to be replaced--they said they couldn't. I was pushed to sign up for mechanical warranty when the car already had two warranties. I am not pleased at all. I feel cheated and taken advantage of as a consumer. I talked to the GM and I thought it was an understanding--things just kept going left for me. It took a whole week to complete this purchase-- a lot of gas& sleep wasted. I would not recommend anyone purchasing from this dealership. they wanted $37,000 out the door for a 2022 Honda Civic LX base model . I was not willing to pay that much nor 30. if I were anyone I would recommend to call all Honda dealerships in the DFW area and have them come up with a deal because I found a way better one for around 26,000 out the door cash from Huggins Honda (ask for candy) Denton , Lewisville and Dallas were willing to do 26 or price match. read more

Drove 3 hours for a car based on the online price. Got an extremely low ball offer on my trade in, close to 5k under a previous offer I've gotten from Car Max 7 days ago. I had to haggle for over an hour just to get a match on my trade in. Then was hit with close to a $3,500 dealer fee that was NOT included on the car's price. Dealership knew I was coming from OKC multiple days in advance for that specific car/deal and never once felt the need to mention the additional $3,500 that would be added to the asking price in addition to the sales tax and state fees (those of which I was expecting). I came into the appointment with extremely clear asks and wanted it to be a fast and painless experience and it was anything but that. Close to two hours of the finance team trying to get me to change my financing to be through them, getting them to an acceptable offer on my trade in, all for them to let me walk away because they wouldn't remove the $3,300 "reconditioning fee". If you value your time and money being respected - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO VANDERGRIFF HONDA. I have a 3 hour drive home and now I have to start this process all over again with another dealership, which will absolutely be with Carvana or car max after this demeaning experience. read more

Their manager, the blond guy, is a total tool. I called the place to see if they had the kind of car I wanted and they said oh yeah, we've got a couple, come on by- only when I got there (half an hour later) oh no, they had sold the one, and the other was having some kind of computer chip recall that I couldn't find Anything about online. Oh but they were happy to waste my time with more expensive cars, which I wasn't there for and didn't care about. The office space is like a rat maze, if you bring people with you to buy a car get ready to be waiting in a cube for hours like a bunch of sardines. The staff were either not wearing masks or had them dropping under their noses, that mixed with the tiny space made it not Covid safe. They're pushy, they're uninformed, and I hope no one has to make big financial decisions with only these guys for "help". read more

Consumer beware! Don't let them do any bait and switch tactics by offering a free oil change or their Tuesday through Thursday afternoon 10% discounts. This dealership is not transparent and does not communicate well with their customers. Van the "Service Manager" is horrible and unprofessional. In addition don't even think about paying with a credit card as they will pass the 3% merchant fee on to you the customer. This place is in it for the money and not for the customer. You would be better taking your vehicle elsewhere. Van said it best when confronted. "You have other options to get your vehicle serviced" Indeed you do Van! Probably the most up front and transparent statement in dealing with the service department. I can only hope and pray the service technicians did their job properly. Don't purchase your car there. They want you to get a car as soon as you step in. Horrible service, their sales people and manager are all programmed to say the exact same thing. My sales guy was awful. I went to a few other ones and the service was very different and much better. read more
