Jose spotted the same problems they did, also spotted a nail in my tire, and quoted me much more reasonable prices.

Took my bmw 750li here after doing an oil change that started giving me engine codes…read more Andy advised me that the part that needed to be replaced was the passenger side vanos solenoid and quoted me 7-10k for the repair cost. I denied the repair since i just bought the car 2k miles prior to the oil change. Andy calls me later that day saying they could update the software on the bmw since it's never been updated according to him. He later called me saying the code went away and it was driving normal again. Total cost 150 for "diagnoses" and 150 for the "software updates" to get rid of the check engine light. Next morning I started the car and the same drivetrain malfunction code was back. Andy wasn't able to advise on what to do next besides change the vanos solenoids. 1500 miles later the engine is stopped on a red light with the auto off feature and wouldn't turn back on . Andy would not answer my calls over the past week so i had to find another mechanic who works with the dealer who sold it to me because bmw refused to diagnose the issue. (7k to rebuild my now engine) that is considered seized. Now I'm left with a dead BMW 750li i just bought because my daily Mercedes s550 power steering went out and I didn't want to deal with finding a good mechanic....

I experienced the "massive heart attack with a stroke" equivalent of a mechanical failure with my…read morePorsche; the dreaded "IMS Bearing Failure." If you choose to search that issue, be prepared for nothing but lots of Porsche engine carnage photos and hopeless diagnoses and opinions that such an issue is indeed a fatal blow for such a car. I happened upon Elite European Car Care by recommendation of a local mechanic. I contacted Andy at EECC and told him my dilemma. Keep in mind such a mechanical failure is almost always written up as a TOTAL LOSS on any Porsche forum. My situation was unique in that it occurred in my driveway at idle keeping any bearing shrapnel from flying around to the cylinders, valves, etc. I was careful to explain the details of the event to Andy and brought the car into the shop for diagnosis; it was indeed the IMS bearing. I thought my car was dead. Andy listened closely to the details of how and where the IMS bearing failure occurred and began his work at assessing what needed to be repaired; IF it could be repaired. I advised Andy and the folks at EECC to take their time with it as it is not my primary vehicle. Andy pulled the engine from the transmission and gave me hope the car could be fixed. Andy confirmed all bearings (except 1 which was probably the one that failed and disintegrated) were accounted for and he searched the vital engine components with a camera ensuring there was no shrapnel contained within other than what was on the oil filter (typical of an IMS bearing failure). It took a while, but Andy and the folks at EECC were able to repair the bearing fully and ensure there were no bearing fragments in the engine. While I had it at EECC, I also had the clutch replaced along with the rear struts and mounts (routine maintenance). But the happy ending to this story is that the car was not just salvaged, but repaired in a way that it drives and behaves like NEW. I had written the car off basically and after a while was waiting for Andy to tell me it flat-lined, but was so happy to hear the news from him that the inspection revealed no engine damage and a new, sturdier IMS bearing could be installed (shame on you, Porsche, for putting a sub-standard bearing in one of your performance vehicles). As a Porsche owner, I can tell you that repairs are not cheap (it's not the cost of the car, but the maintenance) however; for the amount of work done to the car including the cost of the parts, Andy and EECC came in very reasonable and I'm just glad the car is repaired and repaired well. I advised Andy that I will be using him for any future issues on my car. Dallas Porsche dealers have let me down with their maintenance and the IMS bearing DOES have symptoms and they don't happen over night (i.e., metal shavings in the oil filter). Dallas Porsche service centers never caught, or at least told me, there were any symptoms. I'm grateful to Andy and the folks at EECC and throughout the process they kept me informed of the dilemma, told me their repair process and got my car back and running and firing on all cylinders like new. I appreciate Andy and EECC for the job well-done and would highly recommend them for routine service of such vehicles. They'll give you the low-down on everything; unlike the dealership service locations. I'm glad I'm writing this review on Google now, rather than parting-out the car on Porsche forums. I think if I took my car to the dealer, they would have robbed me blind IF they found the time to repair it at all. Thank you Andy and EECC.
