I won't go back. On my initial visit I found the woman behind the desk to be extremely cold and a little disorganized. She seemed more concerned with getting me out the store quickly than listening to the particular issues that I needed resolved. But I stayed until everything was written down. I was told items would be complete by Saturday. I would be out of town and told her, "that's fine but I won't pick up until Monday at the earliest." The following Monday, I take a lunch break to run errands and pick up shoes. Shoes are all over the place? I had given her 3 pairs of heels. But she had to hunt them down. No clue why they weren't together? I grab the items and rush back to work. That is where I noticed that most of the work that I asked wasn't done. I return and point them out. (I'm told they will be ready in another 3 days :-/!) When I go to pick up this time I deal with a some what more personal man. This time I look over the items in store and notice that there is still some work incomplete. He debates this with me - but that task was written on the receipt that was already paid and on the tape on the shoe! Two of the social heels look decent. Thankfully in time for graduation. The one pair of salsa dance shoes looks like a bad glue job. At this point I consider those shoes a safety hazard. The heel feels like it could come off in one quick turn. When deciding on repairing a shoe verses replacing it, you think about cost, quality, and time. This place was below average in all three areas. I wish there was at least a listed price list for repairs. read more

This used to be a great place- used to be. We dropped off two pairs of shoes in November- got one back in January after several requests and paid 60$ for a snap. The other pair we just picked up with no repair in February because we are tired of waiting. They were in a pile with no tag. Do not waste your time. You will not get timely service and if you get any help at all it will be overpriced. This is so unfortunate because Bill's closed and there are few alternatives in Arlington. read more

Five stars nothing less! Very good at what he does and proud of his work. I dropped my boots off and picked them up days later. Great job.

First of all, these people are very curt, with no sense of humor. I took 3 pairs of shoes, 2 shoes to replace the tips (they charged $13 for one pair and $15 for another), then the other shoe was to fix one side of a sandals that needed to be tucked back under the sole (the cost of that was $7). Total $36.99 with tax, which was paid upfront. I asked him why the difference in price for the tips, he said one was slightly bigger than the other pair. Then he said that when the job is finished, the shoes would look very nice because he would clean and polish them up. That kind of satisfied me for a bit. I was looking forward to see the transformation of my shoes. A week later, I went to pick up my shoes with my ticket. They could not find them, then I looked in the front of the store, I pointed out to them where they were. They were in clear boxes and bag I had left there with my shoes. When I inspected the shoes I noticed that the tips were put on, but not aesthetically done correctly. One pair of shoe was dusty, the ones in the clear shoe boxes where not polished. When I showed him, and reminded him that he said he was going to polish them, he took them back to the back to polish them up. Then I asked a question regarding one of the shoe, regarding reinforcement, and he said no, but I can wear it for another year, then see if it will need replacement of the sole. I jokingly said, "I have big feet, are you sure it doesn't need reinforcement?" He said it cannot be reinforce, but if needed, can be replaced. Then he turned to me and said, "next time, no jokes." I turned to him and say, "There won't be a next time." Just a side note: the day when I dropped off my shoe, a lady was coming out with a pair of shoes. So I asked her what did she had done and the cost. She said she had the heels cut and she paid $12. I thought to myself that it takes more time to cut the heels of a shoes and to reattach the tips, than to add the tips on. Even with the price of the tips. Then I should have paid less. Well, I definitely will NOT be returning. Final note, I asked a friend afterwards. She said that she just took a pair of shoes to a shoe repair store she goes to regularly, and she paid $9 to replace the tips of her shoes. She said that it's in the Jacaranda plaza (University and Pine Island), where there is a Stein Mart and Publix. She also said that the people there are very friendly. read more

3 minutes and 3 dollars and my beautiful shoes have another lease on life! I was wavering if I wanted to try to fix my shoes myself. However, after my last disastrous shoe repair experience and due to my love of the shoe, I decided to take it in for repair. The obviously experienced cobbler listened to my concerns and went back in the back for a while. It was such a tiny repair that it took so little time, and he didn't charge me much. I wore them out today no problem! I am so happy. Besides, it is right next to Whole Foods and convenient for my shopping run. The only thing is the area is under construction. However, it wasn't too inconvenient and mainly looked bad from the street. It actually makes me want to support the business even more as I know stuff like that can really hurt a business. read more

I took a pair of older white dress shoes here a week before a wedding, they were scuffed up and I figured if they could be cleaned up, it would save me the cost of new shoes. Quality of work done here - great. Customer service - horrible. They will quote you one number, do extra work without calling in advance and then charging an increased number when you pick your shoes up. And the owner's response when I told him he should have called??? My customers are usually happy when I do extra stuff, but if you wait I can take it back apart. Really? I was referred to this company with the hope they could repair my Louis Vuitton bag. The leather around the top had to be removed and replaced. They used some type of leather that was shiny and adhered it with glue which they got all over the inside of my bag. Once outside I could see it was a sloppy cheap job. I had to take to another shoemaker and again spend money to get his job fixed. To get my Michael kors bag repaired and cleaned. They were unable to clean one bag. But then I asked to repair my other bag. The owner told me to return in a week. I went back week and two days. My daughter and I took her wedding shoes into Van's for repair. She told him that the shoes were very special to her and if he didn't think he could repair them to let her know. He said that there would be no problem fixing them. My daughter lives in Michigan so I had to pick them up. When I did, the shoes still had the same problem (one heel tilted). He said that I should pay again and he would fix it (he claimed that this was not what we had asked him to do the first time but that is not true as that was the only problem with the shoes). When I picked up the shoes the second time, the heel still tilted. When I pointed this out to him he started to yell at me. He angrily took the shoe, took the repair apart, yelling all the time. The shoe that he gave back to me was very poorly repaired, uneven, poorly glued, etc. In addition, there was now a new damage on the leather heel. When I pointed out that the shoe still did not stand straight and that the repair was not well done (the work was truly shoddy and amateurish),he got so angry that I was frightened. I paid for this repair twice. The shoes were in worse shape after he "fixed" them and I left his shop shaken. No one should be treated this way, especially for mediocre work. read more

I recently moved to the area from Texas and had no clue where to begin for shoe repair. I found Van's on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. One of my black work eels became loose at the base and essentially needed to be re-glued. Though they can't fix shoes while you wait, I dropped it off at 5:30pm (they close a 6pm), it was ready the next morning at 10am. My husband had to pick them up for me, and the owner remember our conversation about my move from the night before and welcomed my husband the next day to FL.
