This has been my family's come to place whenever we've needed anything altered. They do a very good job and they get your items back to you in a very timely manner. I would not recommend this place for any fine leather fixing. The job they did on my $750 leather sandals was sloppy and badly done. I was pissed when I saw them and just realized that I had to just take the loss and move on. I believe these people are more experienced in alterations and sewing, not leather upholstery. & even that- they are charging outrageous prices. I wish they would've let me know before having me pay for a job that they're not really experienced in. It is a family owned business. They have a nice dressing room to use if you need to try on your clothes. They also sell shoe polish and leather cleaner and some other things. Outrageous pricing. I am still in shock. I brought in two pairs of pants today that needed alterations. The first pair of slacks I purchased for $10 during an online sale, which were too big in the waist and in the length. The second pair needed to be slightly hemmed and brought in in the calf area to make a slimmer pant leg. It came as part of a $60 suit from Marshalls. Went to the register and they told me that together it would be $135. I understand that this requires a certain skill, but $135 is criminal. Just wanted to alert people to the pricing and put in perspective that I could buy THIRTEEN pairs slacks or TWO suits for the price of what they wanted to charge for the alteration. read more

Sew & fix, it says it all in the name really. An alteration spot that sits in the plaza on the corner of Hiatus & Sheridan. I was actually led here after putting in some quotes for altering a bridesmaid dress on Yelp to other several spots. When I called to book an appointment at one place, they actually referred me here. Most dry cleaners have a seamstress come in on certain days but this place is specialized for that. When getting dresses altered before, it cost me an arm and a leg and took about 2 weeks. I know this is the norm, especially for something as complicated as wedding attire. I brought my dress in for a fitting and cost estimate on a Monday evening right after work. The price came to about $80 and they had it finished by Saturday afternoon. I was cutting it close seeing as the wedding was only a week away. What can I say? I like to live life on the edge. I know, it was very risky but thankfully the dress came out perfectly! The only note I would make is that the staff here mainly speaks Spanish. The seamstress that was getting my measurements only spoke Spanish and there was a bit of a language barrier but she understood me well enough and even helped me check out. If you're in a bind and need some quick altering for a reasonable price, I recommend this spot! read more

Right down the street from me and I was in need of getting my dress pants tapered. My fault for procrastinating up to the week I needed them, but the lady was understanding and told me she'd have it done in two days. The process was super quick in getting my measurements and asking how I like the fit of them. I got my pants back in a couple days and I had no complaints. I am grateful this shop is so close and the prices seem more than fair because I compared them to stores like Men's Wearhouse. I will have to give this business a try for their dry cleaning. BEWARE!!! My daughter went in to get her prom dress hemmed. They saw her coming, charged $170 to cut the bottom and hem the dress. We went to pick up the dress this morning, prom is tomorrow, and they LOST the dress. I understand things happen, however, the way in which, Wilmar (he claims to be the manager) handled the situation was very unprofessional. He was unapologetic and very nonchalant. My daughter was able to locate the same dress at Macys and he did offer to purchase it and alter it again, which he did. I asked to speak to the owner of the store, I was advised that the owner was out of the country. Wilmar refused to give me the owner's name. I had to ask several times what he was intending on doing to make up for this mishap and the undue stress and inconvenience that we had to go through. I expressed my opinion that we should have been reimbursed for the alteration cost, which was astronomical in the first place. He said he did not need to do anything more that what he was doing, that we would "be even". He then offered a 30% discount off my "next" alteration. I explained to him that I would not be returning to this establishment and asked that he at least apply the 30% discount that he offered, to this job. He refused. I am shocked at the poor customer service that was provided and flat out rude interaction that we had to incur at this place of business. I will NEVER return to this establishment where you not only get ripped off at, but you are also treated horribly when THEY make a mistake. read more

I went in there excited to fix all my shoes and 2 shirts. The second that old woman (THE Owner) realized I didn't speak Spanish she started to treat me like shit, she was slamming ALL of my items and the only word she spoke was the total(which was ridiculous). After telling my mother about this horrible treatment she went to the store to explain the mistreatment and the nasty work and all the man did was LAUGH!!! so I will never give these people a dime!!!!! Dont go!!! Really bad customer service. . Ive been coming to this place for years, but its gone downhill. Luz took care of me for years, but on my last visit, her son both measured me for an alteration, did the work and gave me the final product. Id asked for my jeans to be tapered and taken in. (for $52, a ten dollar increase over a month ago for the same work). I tried the jeans on, and they were not tapered enough. I went to the front and said it him (they arent tapered enough, so Im going to run home and get the pair that you tapered last time which were perfect, so you can readjust). No problem right? Keep them for a few weeks, whenever they are ready. I was being very reasonable. He says "you tell me you want to bring those jeans in now AFTER the work has been done....you should have brought them before we did the work?"......(Im thinking.....I thought that your taper would not change from the last time Id asked for my jeans tapered, and I didn't think Id have to bring my old pair each time for you to measure against) Anyway, I ignored his negative comment and waited to see how he wanted to handle it. He looks at me, and AGAIN says "you should have brought them before we did the work".....I grabbed my jeans and said "thats fine, Ive been coming here for 6 years, but if you want to act this way, you just lost a customer".......too bad because LUZ was great. Ill never go back........ Terrible attitude and they dont care about customer service.....Imagine losing a customer whos been coming to your business for 6 years. I used to come here all the time. I moved to Hollywood and was in Cooper City caring for my Granddaughter and brought my husband's work shoes, a pair of pants with an small open seam to be repaired and a pair of leather sneakers to be cleaned up. I asked if everything could be ready by the end of the day and he said yes, everything except the sneakers. They would require one more day. Then I asked the price for the sneakers and he said$35.00. Since I did not pay much more than that for them I said "never mind, they are not worth it" I then said "so, I can pick up the pants and shoes up today? Now he says "it will cost more now it's considered a rush job" Guess what? I took my items and left! They just lost a customer! Poor customer service! Not sure what happened with the other reviews but I've been recommending them to family and friends for several years. I've had my bride maids dresses hemmed, my daughter confirmation gown altered, a bunch of skirts and work dresses and again the only complaint would be the price. We get it, YOU the business are doing is the CUSTOMER a favor by accepting our money so you can do some work for us, you know so you can have a business and a job and contribute to the economy like the rest of us... We get it, we customers are a burden for you... We're sorry. They do some good work but despite bringing a lot of business there the service is pretty bad. Now i know what you are thinking, maybe it's me. Something I'm doing. It's not. As witnessed by the other reviews. This is one of the few places in the area so maybe that is part of the problem. I like that I can walk in and get sewing done quickly. I will say their prices are not the cheapest. To take in the waist on something it was $11, same thing, but heavier fabric, was $16 and then another alteration cost $30. I am sure it will be worth it to have it done but seems kind of expensive. The lady who rang me up also seemed a bit confused and wanted me to wait until Saturday and I said I needed it the next day. Have been going here for years. Last few times the workmanship has not been good. Prices vary depending on the day. Had two pair of pants hemmed each one more expensive than the next and the hems were not even. 1st zipper repair on boots was great. 2nd pair the replaced zipper did not go all the way up. It was placed wrong. I was told that's the way it is. Very rude. After several years I won't be back. Sadly I reccomended this place to a friend and they charged her $30 to them a pair of slacks. I've had formal gowns with lots of layers altered here and they've always taken amazing care of my items. After alterations, my clothing always comes out perfect and the alterations last forever with no issues. This place "sew & fix" is a disaster. The owner Luz and son Wilmar are very unhelpful and unprofessional. Their employees are also rude which the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. I got ripped off with a lousy job they did on my daughter's prom dress. These people need to learn how to treat their customers with respect and not treat them like second class citizens. I came here because this place is close by and I saw a couple pretty good reviews unfortunately I did not have a positive experience. I brought in a blazer which I had asked to have shortened and I asked for the sleeves to be tapered in as they were much too baggy a woman came out from the back quickly pinned my blazer did not say two words to me but told the cashier to charge me $30. I bought the blazer on a Saturday I was told to come back Tuesday to pick it up on Tuesday I arrived and my blazers sleeve had been shortened as asked but tapering the sleeves was a disaster. Only the forearm of my blazer had been tightened and the top part of the sleeve was untouched so it looked like A band uniform. The cashier apologized and told me to come back the next day so that they could have one more day to repair my blazer. I came back today hoping that all alterations would be complete and unfortunately all they did was undo the stitching on the fore arm part of my sleeve to loosen it and didn't tighten up the entire sleeve like I had asked so now I'm left with a blazer I paid $30 just to shorten the sleeves and they are still ill fitting and baggy. Buyer beware if you have any items that are expensive that you need in a hurry or that require specific tailoring please don't waste your time or money like I did. Also if you don't speak Spanish don't bother coming here either because the ladies that work in the back will treat you like crap and won't even try to communicate with you. From a customer service standpoint I would also like to mention that on both occasions I spoke to the cashier and express my problems and the second time I was there the cashier was a man and he basically told me that I don't know what I'm talking about that I'm stupid and that he's been doing this for 30 years and he's sure the tailors did what I asked them to do. I was dumbfounded at that fact that he was basically calling me a liar which is worse than the crappy job they did. read more

Would have given 0 stars. Was charged $60 to let out a suit jacket. I paid cash, and did not realize the high price. Went to a place around the corner and was told the most it should cost to let out the jacket is $35 tops. My jacket was promised Tuesday at 3PM. I arrived to pick up at that time and it was not ready. I had to come back the next day to get my altered item. Went back to complain, and told Wilmar I was unhappy with the price. I explained how I found out they over charged me. He said "you agreed?" and of course I said I was not aware they were over charging. Wilmar proceeded continue telling me that is the price. I told him I didn't want to hear and I was just there to express my dissatisfaction and maybe they would make an adjustment. Took a shoe in to have the sole glued back on after one week the sole came off. Took it back and they fixed it again and this time there is a 2 inch gap on the inside of the shoe where it was not glued. They use to do excellent work, not any more read more

This place has TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you don't believe me, take something in there to get serviced, if it doesn't come out good, or if they damage anything they will not do anything to fix it, no refund, no credit, no apologizes. I took a brand new dress with store tag still on it to get altered, when the dress was handed to me at pick up it had a black mark on it which was evident since the man handling the dress had dirty black fingers. He claimed that mark wasn't done by them. When I attempted to wipe it some of it came off because it was freshly done. Some of it stayed in the fabric, in which I showed him. He refused to refund, or even an apology. I asked if the manager/owner could be contacted he said no what for. I couldn't believe the way this place handles situations. Thats why they make you pay up front! So if anything goes wrong, (as it does often you can see from other reviews) they don't have to worry about pleasing the customer because they have their money already. read more
