I joined about 4 years ago and brought over 2 other customers with me. I always had a good experience, until they closed the Shea/32nd St branch in Phoenix. It is a nightmare now. I was having trouble accessing my account online, which is a must since I use bill pay. I couldn't get through to a real person and the chat robot just kept saying the same thing over and over. Which in no way addressed my issue. Trying to talk to a real person on the phone also went to a robot. I went to the branch at Tatum/Shea (my first time since that moved). I was showed a machine to make a deposit of over $1000. There were no tellers booths. I spoke with an employee, but decided to wait about making my deposit. I contacted the employee by email, which she had told me was the best way to contact her to make an appointment to come in and have a bank employee witness me making the deposit. I never heard back. A week or so later, I called and got the robot to put me through to a real person, who told me someone would be there to assist with my deposit. I was able to make the deposit with an employee. I would NEVER make a deposit without a witness. The employee counted the money and then put the stack of bills in the machine. The machine correctly counted the money. However, machines can make mistakes/ bills can stick together. A few years back I asked for $200 from a banking machine and the machine gave me $400. Today, two weeks later I received a text message stating I have appointment tomorrow at the bank. I never made an appointment and would not found it acceptable to make the appointment 2 weeks out. There will be other occasions when I will need to make a cash deposit. So I am thinking maybe as much a hassle it is to change banks, I need to find a bank that has real people, and if I need to make an appointment, it wouldn't take 2 weeks to get an appointment. As a long-standing member known to the Tucson branch, I am disappointed that this issue has escalated into a dispute despite my consistent payment history. After receiving Kyle's letter stating that the investigation was complete and that Vantage West's records were accurate, I remain concerned that key details have not been properly reviewed. My November payment is being reported as late, even though it was not due until December 20. My October and December payments are reflected correctly, but the November payment is not. Because the payment was made before November 20, well before the December 20 due date, I respectfully ask that this reporting be corrected. I also request a clear explanation for the hard inquiry placed on my credit on November 3. My September, October, and November payments were not late, and I do not believe my account history supports the actions taken. As a loyal member of 10 years who has paid more than $100,000 in loans in full and maintained an excellent payment record, I ask that Vantage West review this matter carefully and resolve it fairly. I am deeply disappointed by the service I have received and by the inaccurate information provided regarding my account. I urge Vantage West to take this matter seriously and ensure my credit report accurately reflects my payment history. The branch manager previously assured me that the August 2025 hard inquiry would be removed, but it remains on my credit report. I also received conflicting information about my personal loan payoff. The branch manager's email states that I called on January 17 for the payoff amount, yet the copy of the check I received was dated January 10, indicating the payoff request occurred before that date. This suggests the check may have been lost or mishandled, resulting in additional interest being charged unfairly. I am requesting that Vantage West promptly update my credit report to reflect accurate information. During my visit to the branch, I reviewed this issue with a representative who also agreed that my November payment was not late. Please update my November payment status to show that it was paid on time. I also request that both hard inquiries be removed from my credit report, as I did not authorize them and believe they were made in error. We joined Vantage West in 2017, and for nearly eight years our experience was outstanding. The employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. That level of personal service was one of the primary reasons we chose to do business with Vantage West. Unfortunately, beginning sometime last year, the quality of service began to decline. Today it has deteriorated to the point that I no longer look forward to visiting one of your branches. Like most people, I appreciate technology when it makes routine banking more convenient. I have no problem using an ATM to withdraw cash or using online banking for everyday transactions. Technology certainly has its place. The problem arises when customers need services that cannot be provided by a machine. If I need a cashier's check, want to remove myself from my son's checking account, or would like to discuss purchasing a certificate of deposit, I expect to speak with a knowledgeable employee without an unreasonable wait. Those are ordinary banking needs that still require personal service. Instead, it appears that nearly every aspect of banking is being directed toward self-service. While that may reduce operating costs, it also reduces the personal interaction that many customers still value and, in some cases, genuinely need. Recently, I visited the branch at Nexus and Valencia to obtain a cashier's check for a business transaction. I expected to walk to a teller window, request the check, and be on my way. Instead, I found that the teller stations had been replaced by ATMs. I was told to sign in and wait for someone to assist me. I was quoted a wait time of ten to fifteen minutes. There were only a handful of customers in the branch and several employees present, yet after waiting approximately twenty minutes only one customer had been called into an office while the remainder of us continued waiting. I considered withdrawing cash from the ATM instead, but the daily withdrawal limit was well below the amount I needed. Frustrated, I left without accomplishing my business. Two days later, I visited the branch at 22nd Street and Kolb, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, it was even more disappointing. The employees I encountered were dismissive, defensive, and gave me the impression that helping customers was an inconvenience rather than their primary responsibility. During our conversation, after listening to an explanation of why the current system was supposedly working well, I expressed my frustration by saying, "This is the poorest damn banking service I have ever received." While I admit I was frustrated, the reaction I received only reinforced my belief that customer service is no longer the priority it once was. My concern extends beyond my own experience. Many long-time customers still value personal service. We understand and appreciate technological advances, but technology should enhance customer service--not replace it. There are many situations where customers simply need to speak with another human being. I hope Vantage West will reconsider the direction it is taking. Efficient technology and excellent personal service should complement one another rather than compete. I went to Valencia and country club location in Tucson az on 12 /22/25. I withdrew cash. Upon completing the transaction I mentioned to teller, $100 bill looked old as he counted cash. I left bank, attempted to make a payment transaction with a vendor- they stated a $100 bill was fraudulent. I went to the same bank location the next day to clarify the $100 bill . The bank manager said they would look at the transaction but said once you walked out the bank doors transaction is valid. They looked a video and agree bank teller gave you that bill but you left so therefore you we're responsible to dispute fraudulent currency while in bank. Their brilliant idea to go away from live tellers and an automated system, in my opinion, is liken to Fonzie jumping the shark on Happy Day's, as it was the start of their demise. I tried to make a cash deposit at my local branch on Cortaro and I-10, only to find out that they no longer have tellers, but I can wait 20-30 minutes to meet with a banker to make the deposit...nothing like turning a 5 minute banking transaction into 30+ minutes. Apparently, they did this with all branches, except one on 1st and Whetmore and some on the east side. Here's the story: since I used Michael's full name. Review got removed. So here it is again. We applied for a HELOC loan to consolidate debt within house debt plus some credit cards. Husband had a credit score over 740 and mine 635. Ok mine isn't the greatest but it's only due to having to use the credit cards for certain items in need. This was not the main reason why we even went into vantage west credit union. We found out through Michael a representative of vantage west that vantage west doesn't do in house refinancing. So Michael suggested a HELOC loan which we could borrow against our paid for home. All debt payments have been paid 100% on time. Have been customers for a very long time. It only took one day to review the application and got denied the same day. Also michael made the suggestion of how much to borrow. We weren't even asking for that much. So if you have a pretty decent credit score and make 100% of debt payments on time that apparently is not good enough. All we were trying to do is consolidate the debt within and vantage west will not help you. So don't waste your time or MONEY!!! here. So here's the ridiculous response as per usual. This financial institution won't help you. All I see now is that they want to keep you at the higher rate so they can get paid instead of helping their customers with in house debt. So we will closing out and moving to another financial institution of ours. Don't need this feeling of " you're a risk" we can't help you. But they were willing to take that risk of loaning that personal loan no problem and that's the higher rate loan than the HELOC loan. I would give Vantage West zero stars if I could, but that's not an option. I have tried three times to open a business account at two different branches and online and every time I've been told something different in terms of requirements. My online application was denied with no explanation other than I needed to go to a branch. I visited the Magee location the next day and was told that it would be about a 15 minute wait. More than 45 minutes later and with no updates, I left and scheduled an appointment online at another branch. Even with an appointment, I waited a good 15 minutes at the University branch before I was helped. The banker proceeded to offer me incentives for opening a personal account and seemed surprised when I told her I was there to open a bushes account, even though I had selected "business account - non or for profit corporation" when I scheduled, which was confirmed on my reminder email. Several minutes later, the baker asked if I had any of my board members with me (I clearly did not) and said that I needed another person to open the account. I asked her why that wasn't communicated to me before my appointment and she said it would have been on my confirmation email under the list of things I needed to bring. It definitely was not, and while I've heard good things about this bank, I'm not willing to risk wasting another person's time on what would be my 4th attempt to open a bank account. I have been with Vantage West credit union for three years now I have recently got a charge for $126 which it's not horrible but it's not money that I owed because is not my debt. I have a joint account with my mother because she doesn't know baking that well and it is her debt and they have been taking money from me even though I am a separate person have a separate account. I am just joint with her on account to have access to that one and they put the charge under ATM withdrawal so I wouldn't be suspicious about it and when I called to try to be reimbursed, they told me they're not giving me my money back and that sense is a joint account. They can take money whenever they want, even though I asked the person because I was going to close the accounts if they were gonna be able to take money from my account for my mother's debt relief and she said no they can't do that. You are two separate accounts. By far the worst customer service since starting my membership at this credit union, hence why I have been slowly moving my accounts else were. I had over 200K saved with Vantage west, but again decided the money would be appreciated much more elsewhere. to add to my disappointment with this credit union, I called today to speak to customer service & ask a simple question about a bill that was paid sooner than I thought I had scheduled it for. The representative asked after they verified my identity, "well don't you have access to your online account to check this"? I advised the representative I was not in front of a computer at the moment to check the information I was asking for, at the moment hence why I was calling in for the information. Instead of the CSR going about her job & checking for the information I was asking for, she decided to add a smart remark taking a deep breath "well let me sign into YOUR ACCOUNT FOR YOU". At that point I reminded the CSR rep again, I know how to log into my account and check for this information, however I am currently unable to do so. After having to pry the information from her I was able to confirm the information she provided and hung up the call. To my surprise the policy is not refundable after 90 days... well it was on page 5 of the contract, page that I didn't read when I signed the documents. Just received the arbitration letter today July 28. The letter was made on June 28th. This gives me 0 days to opt out of arbitration. I believe VWCU intentionally engages in harmful practices. I'm a member residing on the East Coast. Even if the letter was mailed on the day it was made arriving in 15 days and having to return in 15 days is not operating the arbitration agreement in good faith, as this also gives 0 days to opt out of the ridiculous time requirements set by VWCU. I went to this branch after they posted their Auto Loan FlashSale promotion and I got Approved for a 3.24% refinance. The next day the senior loan processor, Maria contacted me and requested more information. I sent 2 emails to check if the paperwork I currently have are sufficient but she never answered, I received no answers, nothing, nada... She just ignored my emails. At the same time, Tucson Federal Credit Union had a better promotion with a 1.99% refinance, so I got approved there instead with1.99%.Thank you Maria for ignoring my emails! 1.99% is definitely a better deal than 3.24%. 5 years ago, I would've given this institution a five star rating. After they continued IT upgrades that make it difficult to maneuver around their website, along with policy changes that are shrouded in between gobbledygook, I think I'm done. The icing on the cake was when I went to roll a certificate of deposit and was informed that I was no longer considered a preferred member. I have been a member of that credit union for over 20 years. However, when I retired, my direct deposits fell below their level. Due to that, I no longer receive preferred rates for my certificates of deposit. Just at the point in life where you really need to have that little extra income, they deemed me unworthy. If I am supposed to be a shareholder and, per their tagline.... You own us..... then I deem myself worthy. Never had a credit union that constantly holds your checks. Every kind of check! Come on, a check from a local casino?? and a Cashier's Check from another bank in Denver? Wait until somebody screws up before you punish them. Then take action. And then when you ask them how long this is going to happen they can't give you a definitive answer. Also, went there not too long ago and it was middle of the day and they had the drive thru lanes closed. I went inside to ask why and they answered they were short staffed. OK, what about taking 1 of the 3 tellers you had inside and put one to provide your drive thru service? Drive thru service is ALWAYS very slow! Other issues too. Won't even go into it. I tried to open a Saving Account online. However, once I completed the application, I was told that it could take two days to review my application. However, I never heard back from them. When I called, I was told they needed additional documentation and that I should have received an email regarding it, although they had my driver's license, social security number, credit history verifications , banking routing numbers, access to my transfer accounts through a third party, etc. So, I wish someone could tell me why, in the old days, I could walk in and open up an account in minutes, but the online process is much slower? This review is for the Magee branch. My father was a member there for over 40-50 years since it was Davis Monthan CU. Since his passing, I have maintained his account there. Having had many interactions there over the years, I have to say it is always an uncomfortable experience. I recently asked for help in depositing and clearing a large deposit from a big well known national brokerage. I was asked many personal questions such as "what did I need the money for", "what was I going to do with it", "who was I sending it to and why" and other personal questions that were frankly none of their business. I was also told that they are always on the lookout for scammers. Looking back on it, Was she insinuating I was a scammer? Ultimately I played along, hoping they would help me solve my problem and my intentions were pure with nothing to hide. After providing my ID (I am the only signer on the account) proof of funds, personal brokerage statements and other information they asked for, I was told the best they could do was two days, which actually ends up being 3 1/2 by their math. Checking other national banks, theirs would be two actual days on the outside and most next day, so they did me no favor here. I spoke to the manager, who went through the motions but had no customer service skills and had no intent on helping me solve the problem, only quoting chapter and verse on banking rules. As the branch manager she had the "home town bank" power and could have helped me, she just wouldn't. The over whelming feeling I always get there is one of mistrust and the questions I was asked bare this out. Ultimately I agreed to their terms and moved on. I rarely visit this bank, but good to know they will not help you if you need it. This bank appears to have deep rooted cultural issues, covered up by their "home town" bank facade. I personally bank at b of a and wells. Not my favorites either, but my expectations are lower as well. VWCU pretends to be something they are not. BEWARE!! They don't say it anywhere but if you're a co-borrowor on a loan & you happen to be listed second you will not have online access to see the balance or make a payment. When you ask them about it they're "working on it" so that means it may come in the next 30 years. If you happen to make an online principle only payment they "new" system automatically posts it as a regular payment even though you checked the box online. To get it corrected you have to call in & then keep checking your online balance to make sure the person you talked to actually corrects it. Honestly just move on from this credit union. According to the person I talked with, they closed it because it had been "inactive". I told her I had never received any notice that it was going to be closed due to inactivity, otherwise I would have made a deposit to keep it active. She just said that she was sure they would have sent something, but when I asked, she couldn't say when it was sent. If you want a credit union that will take your money and treat you like a suspicious character when you want to cash a check or withdraw money, then this is the credit union for you. My husband has been a member of Vantage West Credit Union since 1975, but last week, when he went into the Vantage West Credit Union at 801 E. Speedway to cash a check from his employer, he was denied any cash back. They told him that because it was over $1000 that there would be a three to five day hold on the money. He asked them to call the issuer of the check and they did. However, the company was closed for the day. The issuer was his employer --a company in business since the 1950s. He stated that he has his paycheck automatically deposited from this company and has a home equity loan with Vantage West Credit Union, as well as his membership loyalty. They did not care. He asked for the check back after telling them that his relative had recently closed out an account with Vantage West Credit Union and took their money ($50k +) to Chase Bank. They didn't care about that either, but they were stunned. We drove over to our Chase bank. We walked in, filled out a deposit slip, asked for cash back and he had his money within 4 minutes! Oh, yeah, and the teller at Chase Bank bantered and laughed with us, hoping we would have a great day! read more

Unfortunately this credit union claims to be member centric UNTIL they make a mistake and refuse to remedy their error and make the member pay the price. All in all, their are much better banks and CU's out there that wont ruin your credit for their lack of technical advances. Their online systems are outdated and lack normal updated functionality. They made a mistake on my auto pay, it was during COVID so things were not normal, so blaming the member is negligent and unethical. Their branches were hard to get into, and very difficult to get a hold of anyone at the branch. To make matters worse, their 'brand experience manager' took less than 24 hours to review dozens of phone calls (lol) and then came back agreeing with the bank. Surprise! Anyway, run don't walk from this CU, so much better and more honest out there. (note long time member here, and 'most' front line customer service agents were 'nice' but all over the board with knowledge of issues). Had to file state regulatory complaints, they refuse to acknowledge ANY responsibility for their disorganization and lack of communication. read more
