If you are in Vapiano Parque Arauco, you are for sure in the right place. Great atmosphere, good service and super food quality make this one of my favorites places to eat in Santiago. The smell of garlic was in the air and I couldn't resist from placing and order. Upon entering I was greeted and handed a card. The card is used when you place your order the item is added to your card for pay purposes. I opted for a vegetarian option. The food is cooked/prepared right in front of you. It was so refreshing to see the homemade fresh brown bagged pasta being boiled. As the pasta boiled he worked on the sauce. Garlic, olive oil, pesto sauce, pine nuts and hot pepper, the best combination. He communicate as to how much of em each item I would like. Once the sauce was done, it was tossed in with my pasta and viola... a delicious meal! Bread was included and olive oil and balsamic vinegar are on each table to use. read more

This location is in the Providencia area, near the Pedro de Valdivia metro. I think it's a newer place since it's not on their website. This location is better than the Parque Arauco one, it was very disorganized and slow there. Here in Providencia there were no lines and the chefs were quick. Hats off to Alba who can multitask. You get a little card that is charged when you order something. You go to the counter of your choice (depends on what you want) and you tell them what you want and they make it in front of you. You can do this multiple times, and when you are done you bring the card to the front register to pay. I got the pesto basilico here, which is corkscrew pasta with a pesto sauce. I think it was pretty good, although the pesto may have been slightly burnt. I think the freshness of the food is the appeal here, as it is also a little expensive, where it's about $10 for a basic dish. read more

I have been a regular to vapiano in Europe but it was my first time ever trying it out in South America. Overall very pleased with the consistent quality on food and service. The dinning room is spacious, modern, clean and there's several tables on the patio as well. The kitchen staff was very pleasant and efficient in preparing the dishes. Waiting staff was present and amicable as well. As for the food, I started with the beef carpaccio (4.5/5). OK it's a very generous portion, the sauce coming with it was tasty and there also was a generous portion of mesclun salad. If the mushrooms could have been slightly more tasteful or seasoned it would have been perfect. Following the recommendation of the pizzaiolo I went for the shrimp pizza (3.5/5). Tasted fresh, I liked the tomato sauce mixed with the black olives and mesclun salad. However there was too few shrimps (2 or 3 per slice at most) and it could have been slightly more cooked. Dessert wise I caved for their Tiramisu that was just lovely and I went for a clue of their Pisco sours that were well made. A good choice for an uncomplicated meal in Las Condes. read more

The food is really and fresh. You can see them making pasta, which was fun. The food was very flavorful and ready quickly. The dining area is slick and modern with live plants on the tables. My table had a small rosemary plant, which I wanted to smell, and discovered that tiny flying insects had made it home. What lost a star for me was this: When you enter, you are given a card. You then go to one of the areas to order your food, such as the area for pizza and another area for pasta. There is also a bar area. You order your food and the credit is put on the card. After your meal, you take the card to the cashier and pay for all the items you ordered. So, as in our case, if you want pizza and pasta, you have to stand in two lines and await for the items to be ready. You find this out with a little buzzer. It was annoying that one can't just enter, sit and order the items you want. We had a pizza toscana and aglio e olia with 2 mineral waters. The total was $24US, which I thought was a bit high. The pizza crust was thin and crisp and the pasta was spicy. My friend asked for a 3 out of 5 for heat. He thought it was more like a 4, but I thought it was just fine. Make sure you take any unused card back to the cashier, as they need to ensure you didn't charge food on it. read more

Holy shizzle this place amazes. I ordered the Alla-Arribiatta (vegetarian penne arribiatta) and can honestly offer it's the best I've even consumed! I speak only a bit of Spanish but understood the spiciness scale of "Picante uno a cinco?" and chose a rather frisky "cuatro." The chef started with a clean wok and added olive oil, garlic shavings, and sliced red peppers. After searing that for a bit she added tomato puree and later the fresh penne. [They make their pastas in a thoroughly windowed room nearby for our viewing pleasure.] She then shaved some parmesean atop the brilliant red heap and topped that with a bit of basil pulled from live plants in the coooking area. I was not at all afraid to dig in... Upon sitting down I excitedly gouged out several tubes with my tenador and my eyes involuntarily closed in proportion to the al dente goodness. I was reluctant to leave my bowl but I needed to buy my ~300th Pisco Sour on this trip to round out the flavors. When the penne was depleted I wept inside, needed more, and decided to finish with some bruchetta. Now I loathe tomatoes but overcame that bias just this once and was glad I did as it was muy sabroso. They hand you a presumably blank card upon entry and you lay it on a glass reader/writer at every food station you visit. Upon egress you present your card and they extract a list of the goodies you ordered for payment. We paid cash and they couldn't break a 20,000 peso note para propina so I had to dig up some smaller notes to drop in the top of their collection box. Check their website and hit this place up anywhere in the world if you're able. This is a huge, international chain that apparently originated in Germany but please expand to the Left Coast of the U.S. A.S.A.P.! read more

This place was right down the street from our hotel (Marriott). Decided to go here for dinner because it was getting late and we were very tired. I've been to the Vapiano's in DC and this place is very similar. I ordered pasta with bolognese sauce. Hands down best pasta I have had in a long time. Pasta was chewy and the sauce was very flavorful. Staff is friendly and place is clean. Grab some gummy bears on your way out. read more
