We were walking around the Paradise Centreshopping center planning to go to another Italian restaurant we went to yesterday, when we saw this girl with a pizza in hand for us to sample. It was very good. Then she told us about this restaurant and gave me a coupon for free garlic bread. It's on the 2nd floor, hard to know it exists from downstairs. So I was really surprised to see such a nice place. I love the decor and ambience. They also have outdoor seating. Service was great. We ordered the Gamberi E Spinaci Risotto, really good . The Chicken Fettuccine Carbonara was definitely a winner. The kid's pizza was adorable. They really put their hearts into it. This lychee drink is amazing. You gotta try it. read more

We loved the self-serve concept here. On arrival, you get a credit-card sized card, and entry to the restaurant. Choose your table, study the menu, and order from various food stations serving pizza, pasta and various other Italian style foods. Once you've ordered, press your card against a 'reader' and the cost of your purchase will be registered against it. When you leave, just present your card and your total will appear. The restaurant is spacious and can cope with just a few people or many dozens. There's an outside balcony with good views over the plaza, and a terrific view of a storm when we were there! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We ordered a Truffle Oil pizza, and there were various herbs and oils we could add to it once served. It was the best pizza I've had in ages. The bar serves a good range of drinks and the Riesling is heavenly. Great concept, great food, great place. Recommended. read more

An interesting idea for a restaurant. On entry you are given a card with which everything you order is recorded on. Then at the end of your meal you go to the cashier, swipe the card and pay. This is a great idea for making split bills a breeze. The problem I found is the ordering. There is no table service. Whenever you want to order something you go to the counter designated for the good you want. For example, if you want a pizza, you go to the pizza counter. Pasta, to the pasta counter. Same for antipasti and salad, and the bar. When you order a pasta, you have to stand there and watch them cook it... Then if you wanted a salad, you'd have to move to the next counter and order again, wait for it to be made and then return to your seat to eat. Silly. We went on a quiet night, so there was no line. I can only imagine how painful it must be to order different things on night with long queues. THE FOOD however, was delicious. I ordered a bruschetta which was nice (although a little old by the time it was made and I went and ordered my main meal at the next counter). For main, I had a chicken and prawn pesto penne with spinach and pine nuts. Really, really good! Check it out of its quiet. The food is nice. But beware if it's busy. read more

We had chicken pasta and prosciutto e fungi pizza. The pasta was very cooked and the meat quite tender. Pizza was quite alright, but definitely not top notch. No recommendation here. Way too much flour. And on top of that we got to sit on the beautiful balcony with a little bit of fresh wind on such a sunny day. On top of that: staff was super friendly and gave us a carafe of tap water (they don't do that at all the vapianos) and even charged our camera. Great experience! read more

Vapianos, is always such a nice place to go on a date night, having birthday celebrations ect. Being a celiac I have to watch what I eat and I love that they have some gluten free stuff like pasta. Be sure to take advantage of their lunch special starting at 12 where they offer pizza or pasta for $10. That's a great deal if you ask me and the views are lovely outside which is awesome on a nice day for people watching. For first timers you're given a card which money is added onto it for each item that you order, then you pay the balance as you leave. The interior design is very nice and the pizza I ordered was delicious! I had the Bianco which has roasted potato, cream, garlic, and mozzarella. Sausage Pizza is for the overkill, but that's exactly what the night wants of you. Toe-tapping electronic music, great view of the mall plaza and street entertainers. Although not the cleanest of restaurants due to the high turnover of customers, Vapiano's food is lovely! I love the whole concept of the restaurant in that you can decide the pace of your dining experience due to the self ordering system. One person that really stood out during our visit was a waitress called 'Elle'! She never stopped and did her very best to ensure tables were cleared and cleaned ready for the next guests to enjoy their meal at! The food selection was very expansive too and fresh! This is not a good place to eat. Not only do you have to wait for a table you also have to wait in line for ages to be able to place your order as there is no table service , and then you have to wait in front of your chef while they cook your food. Yesterday our chef took al dente took far and gave us ouch dente. Avoid this place like the plague . Plus if you hate warm $7 beer also avoid this place. Bad, bad, bad!!! read more

The food was good, but the system is not. Lines, lines and more lines. If you want pasta prepared to be waiting for 20-30 mins whilst the rest of your table (pizza and salad) have eaten their food. For a place to charge restaurant prices, there is no service. Tables dirty, you need to get your own food and drinks, which is fine if the prices were lower. Not a fan of how this place works AND i was charged different amounts for the same brand of wine by 2 different bartenders. On the plus side i do like the card system so everyone can pay for themselves. read more

If you love lines, be it the DMV, airports or governmental offices, you'll love Vapiano! First, you stand in a line to get your salad, then you stand in a different line to get your pasta. If you're unlucky enough to need to get a pizza, that'll be a different line as well. When you're ready for your drink, yep, that's right, another line. Finally you enjoy your food and then you get to stand in one last line to pay for it all. That was my experience anyway. Way way too many damn lines. One line where I can order everything? Sure I can handle that. Maybe even a second line to pay, But not 4 or 5. Forget it. It's just not worth it. Plus you're basically ordering to the cook who is so busy cooking and its so noisy, they can't hear you and you can't hear them. The pasta and pizza were decent, but I think you can find italian food that's just as good without wasting half your day in lines, unless of course you enjoy that sort of thing in which case I invite you to savour all the line love that Vapiano's has to offer. read more

Customer service was great! What I don't understand is the high prices for zero table service. The food was ok, nothing to pull me back there again. The ambience felt disorganised and uncomfortable, I guess not my scene. I'm not into cafeteria style eateries. I just don't agree with such a high price for zero table service. Ordering a main is one counter in a long line, ordering a pizza, entree or salad is another counter, dessert is another counter. Btw 'to go' dessert will cost an additional $3 as you have to buy the glass it comes in, they do not have to go containers for dessert. This is why I don't understand high prices for meals, yet you're doing all the running and seating. But I will say compared to other restaurants and bars I have been to here in Queensland, the customer service at this Vapianos was impressive. Loved this place. Get there before 7 or lines begin. Shared Bolognaise with my daughter and it comes with bread and it was incredibly fresh and tasty and made right in front of us how we wanted it. You get your own drinks, salad, pasta, and pizza lines here in Australia it seems. Must be a reason. Us Americans are used to a waiter/waitress but no worries. :). The dessert was given to us as a taste--then we has to have it-- the white chocolate cheesecake was incredible and this is from dark chocolate lovers. Make sure you have it. Very nice staff. Went here today for the first time and was very unimpressed. We arrived at about 2pm to a mostly empty restaurant and had to clear a table to sit at as they all had plates, bottles and glasses on them. My girlfreind ordered our entree and mains and we did not have to wait long until the entree was ready which was nice but was not given long enough until we had to pick the mains up. When i went to pick them up there was an extra meal on my order which we had been charged for but did not order, after i explained to the chef at the counter he outright said I was wrong and that we ordered it and not until my girlfreind also spoke to him the charges were finally removed even though he said he still beleived we ordered it. The pizza and calzone we ordered were ok but we had to wait for cutlery as there was none in the restaurant. The restaurant was finally getting cleared as we were about to leave but none of the tables were wiped and the balcony was still full of plates and bottles. read more

I have only been to vapiano's once and I want to go again and again. The pizza is delicious and definitely stands out a lot compared to some other places I have been. Unfortunately I haven't tried the pasta yet but I'm sure that the pasta is also really nice. This is somewhere I will definitely be visiting again! read more
