Cocktail was nice. Pasta was yummy and creamy. Service was ok, not very warm or welcoming but not horrible. Lovely view outside

We loved the self-serve concept here. On arrival, you get a credit-card sized card, and entry to the restaurant. Choose your table, study the menu, and order from various food stations serving pizza, pasta and various other Italian style foods. Once you've ordered, press your card against a 'reader' and the cost of your purchase will be registered against it. When you leave, just present your card and your total will appear. The restaurant is spacious and can cope with just a few people or many dozens. There's an outside balcony with good views over the plaza, and a terrific view of a storm when we were there! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We ordered a Truffle Oil pizza, and there were various herbs and oils we could add to it once served. It was the best pizza I've had in ages. The bar serves a good range of drinks and the Riesling is heavenly. Great concept, great food, great place. Recommended.

Chicken and Prawn Pesto Penne with Spinach and Pine Nuts

An interesting idea for a restaurant. On entry you are given a card with which everything you order is recorded on. Then at the end of your meal you go to the cashier, swipe the card and pay. This is a great idea for making split bills a breeze. The problem I found is the ordering. There is no table service. Whenever you want to order something you go to the counter designated for the good you want. For example, if you want a pizza, you go to the pizza counter. Pasta, to the pasta counter. Same for antipasti and salad, and the bar. When you order a pasta, you have to stand there and watch them cook it... Then if you wanted a salad, you'd have to move to the next counter and order again, wait for it to be made and then return to your seat to eat. Silly. We went on a quiet night, so there was no line. I can only imagine how painful it must be to order different things on night with long queues. THE FOOD however, was delicious. I ordered a bruschetta which was nice (although a little old by the time it was made and I went and ordered my main meal at the next counter). For main, I had a chicken and prawn pesto penne with spinach and pine nuts. Really, really good! Check it out of its quiet. The food is nice. But beware if it's busy.

Not gonna come again. I have to stand all the way to get my food. Why can't we order from the waiter and sit and wait for my food?

The restaurant is located on the second floor of the QT Hotel. There is street parking as well as valet parking available. Upon entry to the restaurant I was escorted to my table while passing by the different counters of food options. The host explained how everything worked and pointed out the different areas of the buffet. It is all neatly presented and vary high quality ingredients. After showing me the table I went to get started. The very left side of the buffet has certain meat and seafood options. They have beef stew, paella, and a few more options. You can also ask the chef in this section to make you a steak any temperature you like and they will deliver it to your table. Next to the meats you have the pizza counter. At the time they had a cheese option and a potato option. I tried the cheese pizza and it was incredible! The next section has salads and sides. You can choose from mac n cheese to potato salad and lots of other choices. The last section has asian dishes such as dim sum, chicken masala and lots more. The dessert counter is behind the dinner food and has tons of selections. You can get all sorts of mini cakes, pastries, ice cream, chocolates and more. Definitely save some room for dessert! Everything is so fresh and cooked perfectly with the right sauces! The beautiful presentation, delicious food and fantastic service are why I gave this place 5 stars.

Looking at past reviews here I guess it was time for an update!…read more They've changed the usual way of ordering at Vapiano: rather than the chefs cooking the pasta in front of you, everyone is to order at the cashier and receive a table number/sensor to bring to the table they decide to sit at. I do not mind this way at all, if anything it makes it more safer and efficient for staff to deliver the food rather than everyone trying to bring trays of food and drinks up and down the stairs. Met up with my gfs for dinner tonight - Ordered a roasted veggie pizza and my gf got a margarita pizza and creamy mushroom pasta. Not lying but I added pepper, olive oil, fresh basil leaves and salt to my pizza and it still had the audacity to taste bland ? I'm not a salt person but I did end up reaching for the salt 3 times over and it still wasn't a flavorful pizza....my friend agreed and did the same with her pasta. The complimentary bread also tasted like it was undercooked unfortunately- usually it's on point. Nothing wrong with the service, timing, ambience at all ! Just really put down from the food tonight sadly!

Every bite had me wondering if the ingredients were grown in the garden of Eden itself. Tasting the olives was like kissing the lips of Jesus himself. I really didn't mind them cooking the pasta in front of me. (Apart from the little voice in my head that kept questioning why their pasta made me salivate in ways my home cooked food can't). The place upstairs is really aesthetically pleasing by its fresh decor and hydroponic basil plantation. Also, unsure if the basil pots are there as decor or to eat??? But my partner are 7 pots while we were drunk. ;) shhhh.

Consequently (especially when the show is in technical rehearsals and the performers have a lot of time on their hands) I got to know all the different bars and restaurants in and around QPAC. The Cafe came to my rescue a few times when coffee was a necessity and when a bacon and egg wrap can keep you going through a whole day of intense rehearsals. But it's not just for performers, there's a fantastic undercover grassed area where people can lounge before a day in South Bank, or get some fuel before going to a show. I will warn you that The Cafe can often take its sweet time, so if you're in a rush be aware that you could lose your patience. Once I waited half an hour for 2 pieces of fruit toast and 2 coffees and to be honest, they weren't even overrun with people. In saying this, the food I have had is always good and there's some fantastic salads and pastries in the glass cabinet at the front of the counter. Overall I quite like The Cafe, but I must admit that's more out of convenience than out of admiration, but if you're in the performing arts precinct and in need of something to eat, The Cafe can help you out.

If you wanted something in between a sit-down dinner and a packet of chips, you were in trouble and I can recall sitting through many a musical with my stomach rumbling. It's really handy to finally have a mid-level venue at QPAC where you can get a sandwich, cake, or salad with a coffee or drink before seeing a show. I saw Mary Poppins last week (so good. I wanna go again!!!), and true to form had forgotten that I wouldn't be home till after eleven and hadn't yet eaten. 'DOOOOM' thought I, until I noticed the (relatively) new QPAC cafe where I enjoyed a mega-sized Anzac biscuit and a passable coffee before chim chimminy chim chim cheroo-ing the night away in the Lyric Theatre. It's nothing amazing, but it's a good option and has been sorely needed for some time.

The name 5 Boroughs is inspired by New York's five boroughs, which are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. The name is an interesting choice, since most Australians wouldn't know what a borough is. Moving on to the food, I have eaten here twice so far, and enjoyed both the 5B Chicken burger and the 5B Hot burger, which contains grass-fed Mandalong beef. The food is in a similar price range to Grill'd, though I would say that the burgers are a bit smaller. Both indoor and undercover outdoor seating is available, and as the premises are licensed, this would be a good place to go with mates on a weeknight or on the weekend. Plenty of parking is available at the Stones Corner Village parking lot.
