This is simply the best driving school, very professional. My brother recommended it to me and my expectations were exceeded by the co-instructor driving classes. I was provided with so much information and helpful tips. I especially want to give a shout out to Sam Patel, my instructor for all of my lessons. He displayed expert knowledge of the road, dedication to his job, and was definitely qualified to teach. Based on her friends recommendations, our daughter asked to go to Varsity Driving Academy for her behind the wheel training. Honestly, we couldn't have been happier with the quality of instruction and care she received. Each one of her lessons was with different instructors. The first with Craig, second with Khoa and the final lesson with Ed. Each instructor brought something to her training. I would say Craig got her on the road, Khoa gave her confidence and Ed completely prepared her to confidently and easily pass her drivers test. I also want to add that he took great care to follow as best COVID-19 safety as possible. He brought masks, hand sanitizer, wipes and a plastic sheet that he placed in the car between them. Ed gave the most clear guidance, and driving tips that will serve our daughter as an independent driver. And, perhaps, the piece we were most grateful for, he reassured us that she was ready for the road, as an aware and mindful driver. Thank you Varsity! read more

Varsity Driving has been great from the very first lesson my son had with them. They are organized and send you detailed information with all of your scheduled lessons. After his driving test was canceled at the DMV due to Covid, they really stepped up and stayed in communication with us via email and by phone. Once we were able to get his test rescheduled, his instructor Ed, was amazing. Ed called us the night before the test and went over his plan & time for pick up. The morning of the test Ed was on time & provided my son with everything he needed to be successful. I'm updating my review from 5 stars down to 3 stars now. I believe Bill & Paula have retired and the new crew is only 1/2 as good. The driving teachers are not great, too easy. The first one told my 15 yo daughter after her initial lesson that she was a "great" driver. He didn't realize she had never been behind the wheel before. I would rather have someone tell it like it is and not try to kiss butt when it comes to something as important as learning to drive. read more

Our experience with Varsity Driving Academy was excellent. They were helpful in making a behind the wheel class schedule work even though my daughter is a very busy young lady. When we chose to have our daughter only drive with a female instructor, they accommodated us graciously and validated our concerns even though they assured us all their staff were fingerprinted and background checked. My daughter felt comfortable with her two instructors. Veronica and Michelle were both extremely friendly, encouraging and excellent teachers. They gave my daughter the information she needed to be a safe driver. I liked that they were not as focused on the test criteria as they were on teaching her to be a defensive driver. Michelle gave her the final lesson before her test and when she left, my daughter felt ready and confident. She passed with barely any errors. I highly recommend Varsity to any parent who is looking for a quality behind the wheel program. The price was competitive, the instruction was top-notch and the customer service was fantastic. The only things I'd say you should know are that they have a lot of students and you need to schedule way in advance of your test date. Also, parents are not allowed to ride with the students but you can request that your child be taught by a specific teacher by gender. read more

During her stay with us, my niece had her driver's ed. here. This place is located next to Del Taco, between Barranca and Alton, right along the trail/creek on the second floor. This is a family owned business, I have spoken with Ken and Bernadette Fischer, the owners on a few occasions, armed with questions written down by my sister in law. ;P They are the most patient and understanding and sincere and friendly people I have ever met! They absolutely understand the concerns and worries that parents/aunts have. My niece's in class course is taken in 4 days, from 9-4. Then she will need to schedule her 6 hours behind the wheel training with the instructors here. The instructors will pick her up at any location in OC. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a driving school in OC. read more

My son has had his permit for over 6 months but did not want to drive for a while...Finally got the first appointment scheduled, and it was the BEST experience we've had with a driving school around here. We've gone through 2 older kids' driver training, and although they were OK, Varsity Driving Academy was way better than the last 2 I've experienced. Trainer is very professional, kind, and patient. Super informative also. My reluctant son has been practicing almost daily since his lesson, and I can definitely say it was because of our great experience during our first lesson. My experience at VDA was really great. My instructor was very helpful in pointing out common pitfalls other drivers make, and correcting some errors that would've made me miss points on the driving exam. For the last lesson, you're taken out to the actual DMV that you will take your test at so you can practice the course a little. I took my test at Costa Mesa (which is actually pretty hard--I wouldn't recommend it), and the way one drives in Costa Mesa is pretty different to somewhere like Irvine, so I was kinda nervous. But my instructor was really helpful and I ended up feeling pretty confident going into my test. I ended up successfully getting my license and a large reason for that is due to the great instruction I received at VDA. read more

Having driven only in India where we drive on the left side of the road, I was rather nervous about driving in the U.S. However, my instructor from Varsity quickly put me at ease and helped me navigate the unfamiliar roads. He has helped me rewire my brain and unlearn some habits I had, and that is sometimes harder than just teaching somebody who has never driven before. I feel I learn something new and useful in each class, and feel more confident about my driving test. They are also always on time and will accomodate you in their busy schedule whenever they can, which I appreciate. Update: Took my road test today (for the first time) and passed! read more
