in august 27th, 2024 i had knee replacement surgery. after i completed physical therapy at osr, per my orthopedic surgeon, i signed up for additional physical therapy at vasa.with an employee named brandon, for what i was told was a 4 month period only. the pt was scheduled with a physical therapist, also named brandon, at vasa fitness located on the swc of 32nd street and thunderbird road. the time frame was significant because i was scheduled for my second knee replacement in january 28th, 2025. therefore, i would be unable to continue physical therapy, until recovery to the point of complettion of the orthopedic surgeon's recommended physical therapy required at osr; and then i would probably re-sign if i couldn't continue on my own with what i had learned after the second recovery period. our conversation was important, because he (brandon, sales) knew that i lost my job that october of 2024 due to timing at work and had no income. the printer at the gym didn't work that day, so i couldn't get a copy of the contract we agreed to. he told me he would e-mail it to me. he never did. i asked for it more than once. at the time of contract, i told him the printed copy was important and he promised that he would e-mail it. ultimately, i never received the copy. i had vascular complications and had to go to arizona pain to continue medication to sleep. i am still under a few doctor's care at iya medical for procedures to help with the vascular issues. subsequently, i had the vasa finance department withdraw two payments of $320 or $340 each month out of my account. i believe, prior, that i made a few $80 or $160 (every two week payments), in good faith, as i tried to resolve the financial issue or misunderstanding. i spoke to brandon, sales about what was happening, after payments were made; which, in my view, incorrectly so and asked for the payments to be refunded. he told me it was too late he couldn't do anything about the contract. yet, he saw the surgical scar on my left leg and knew i was on oxycodon... he knew i did not want more than the 4 months treatment contracted for at the time i signed the contract and he assured me there was no problem. i love that gym and was so disappointed. i knew by the look on his face when i told him that he committed fraud and that i would turn him in, he knew and didn't care, which is why i never received a copy of the contract. i told him i was going to turn him in and tried at the time. i live alone and had no help... (it was just too much, until today with this e-mail. i am still very emotional and feel somewhat defeated overall). this was not suppose to happen. i was to remain grateful for my efforts at recovery and the gym that i love. i am disappointed and sad about the lack of integrity of brandon, sales. loved the gym hated the dishonesty of the sales associate brandon. read more

Beware!!!! I had a membership here for two years and when I tried to cancel my account, they charged me a "rate guarantee" fee to lock in my rate for another year. Even though I cancelled before the annual "rate guarantee" was due, they said that it just had to be paid in order to cancel. I spoke with Charlie on the phone and he told me that he didn't know why but they just had to charge it. Then I was hit with another fee two weeks later to guarantee the rate on my wife's cancelled account. They already had my card on file so they just ran it through and then can't even explain why.... After years of membership at another chain in the neighborhood, I decided to explore nearby options that offer fitness classes and chose VASA. Six months later I'm still pleased with the experience. Is everything perfect here? Of course not, but it is the best gym experience I've had. Here's why... Studio Red is VASA's signature HIIT class and offered a well rounded workout. The instructors are consistent, friendly and real pros. Shout out to Laura and Rebecca! Other classes have been fun to try, too. From MixxFit to Kickboxing to yoga... there's something for everyone. I've also been participating in Personal Training small group sessions. My trainer, Brandon, has helped me take my workouts to the next level and motivated me to stay consistent. His alter ego is a physical therapist, so I trust him to push my limits safely. One of the perks that originally pushed VASA to the top of my list was the InBody scan. The gym and equipment/amenities are nice. I tried to upgrade my membership to allow me to bring guests. It's $20/mo extra -- which is fine. The problem is I can only bring a guest TWO TIMES PER MONTH. I've never heard of such a ridiculous and predatory policy. My 2nd time at a VASA gym (1st was in OK City) & I can't say enough good things about this franchise. Super easy to get a day pass or a class pass. Employees are super friendly and helpful. Took Tracie's class called Mixxed Fit as I had been wanting to try it. Not my cup of tea as it's a dance format but Tracie is a gem and you can tell she loves the format cause she was excellent. The gym is so clean you could eat off of the floor. Equipment was put away and everything in order, totally how a gym should be kept. I only wish they opened in So Cal as I would join in a heartbeat! read more

They deliberately make it difficult to cancel your membership, bury important terms in fine print, and continue charging your card even after you believe you've canceled. Trying to get a straight answer from their staff or customer service is like pulling teeth--no one takes accountability, and you're constantly redirected without any resolution. This review is mostly about the kids center. I signed up and was overly sold on their "safety" regarding the kid care. Short version of the review below is that there is no scan in / ID check to pick up kids. Essentially anyone can walk in and pick up a child and frankly, that's terrifying. I tried calling a few times to cancel and speak to management with no luck. The "right" person was never in so I gave up but hopefully this gets seen by management. I'm not even convinced they've cancelled my membership or personal training even though I've called multiple times. The kids center is the suite next door to the gym so not directly connected. I had taken my son a handful of times and it always seemed relatively safe though on occasion the baby gate between the desk and the front entrance was sometimes open. Although staff was at the desk.. it still doesn't seem like a safe practice. My bigger concern was on a busy Saturday when I was let into the locked door by another gym member which was my first red flag. Why is the door even locked if anyone can let any random person in? Once in, the front desk staff was chatting away with these members. Didn't greet me, ask who I was there to pick up etc. It was very busy with lots of kids and no one was paying attention. So, I walked right in and picked up my son and turned around to leave. Then I figured I should probably check him out so I had to ask staff if I should "sign him out" and they told me to just write down the time. Keep in mind I was only at this gym for a few weeks. I probably took my son a total of 5-8 times and staff was different each time so there's absolutely no way they recognized me or knew which child was mine. Even so with that many kids and on a busy day there needs to be better safety. I'm absolutely convinced my husband or any man or woman dressed in gym clothes could have picked him up just the same and that is very scary. I immediately quit and am still paying a ton of money for personal training that I'm not going to. read more

Have been coming to Vasa for almost a year now and I don't see myself quitting this gym anytime soon. To be transparent, I have a membership through my employer. I have access to a log in and app as traditional members have, however I do not pay Vasa directly. My understanding though is that the sign up process is quite simple and can be completed online without needing to speak to a representative or sign a contract. This gym has everything you could need. There are two functional training areas, excluding the personal training area that is not accessible to general members. Machines are well maintained, free weights are placed appropriately, and there are wipes placed strategically all over. The cinema theater is awesome, and they typically play a variety of movies. They do offer classes - however I do not partake in them so cannot say much about that. I did try one of their HIIT type classes, and it was a lot of fun. Most of the staff here have been very friendly and welcoming. The morning crew that I have encountered (6AM) have always greeted with a smile and said bye with a wave. I've also noticed that they ACTUALLY do their job! If they're not helping check people in, they're cleaning or at the pool checking whatever they need to check. I have visited a couple times after 5PM...and honestly, the gym is disgusting and a totally different place by evening. Seemingly, morning members are typically courteous of each other, clean after themselves, unrack/place their weights back as they should. Afternoon/evening members appear to be of the younger crowd, and I just notice A LOT more misplaced items and lack of cleanliness. Glad to have found Vasa. The personal trainers were amazing! But don't get a personal trainer plan. They won't let you cancel. They told me to get one, and I can cancel it after a month. Then when I tried, they said I was in a contract so I couldn't. I ended up speaking to regional manager, who said I need to pay for one more pair then she'll let me go. BYTCH. read more

STAY AWAY! I've never had such a horrible billing experience. I got charged multiple times for one account - somehow they opened up two in my name. The people on site "couldn't help" so I was sent to email support. I had to email multiple times over the course of a few weeks to get it handled. Then when I cancelled a few weeks later, they continued to bill me. I had to chargeback on my card, and 6 Months later they were STILL billing me. The gym itself was nice but all of their systems and processes were ridiculously bad. I even had a bunch of issues with the app you need to login with. (And I'm a tech savvy millennial.) To whom it may concern, I was a hopeful new member to your gym but encountered a combative and verbally rude front desk representative. I am still shocked by my interaction and I feel I have to share it to move past the experience. (it was that bad) I live very close to your gym, I have been wanting to try it. (I currently go to Planet Fitness) Your gym opened around covid and I signed up for a 7 day pass at that time and was not able to use it because of your covid restrictions. Since then I cannot sign up for the pass again, so I called the gym at 4:29pm and spoke with someone (I believe his name was Fransisco) he said that wouldn't be a problem and to come in and try the gym. I went to your location at 3131 E Thunderbird Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032 on 11/15/22 at around 6:10pm. I spoke with the front desk representative and told her briefly my situation and she said that she cannot help me, that my pass had already been redeemed and there was nothing they can do. I explained to her that I actually didn't use it and recapped my situation again with a smile.She restated that she can't help me, that She said that she can't help me because she "can't even have me sign the waiver since my pass was already redeemed". (at this time she hasn't asked me any of my information) I told her "so you don't want me to try your gym?" She said there is nothing she can do and started to turn away from me. I then told her that I spoke with Francisco earlier and he said that I could come in. She then turned to me and said "Oh do you want to talk to my manager then??" (In an aggressive tone and she raised her volume) I said yes I would, hoping that I could speak to someone that would be nicer than her, she walked into an office and a few minutes later walked out, handed me an ipad and asked me to fill it out, she stated that "I can have till Friday to try the gym and that has to be enough". I filled out the information and handed her back the ipad, she then said that I "can go work out"... without explaining the gym layout at all and leaving me with a horrible feeling of how this gym really doesn't want my business. I started walking away and I heard her say "I can't believe these people tonight!!!!" She said it so loud I thought she was talking to someone else, I turned around and it was just her by herself, I asked her "are you talking about me?' She said that she was not. I then asked her for her name and she said it was Samaria. I thanked her for telling me her name and then tried to look for the sauna to relax, I didn't even know how to find the women's locker room and I felt like I was going to cry. I ran into another employee his name is Keith, I told him my experience, he offered me a tour but by that point I just wanted to use the women's restroom to cry and he wasn't going to help me with that. I left the gym after using the restroom. I called the gym at 6:38pm to speak with Marisa's manager and she answered the phone and questioned why I was asking for the manager. I told her I wanted to share my experience that I had with her. She said he wasn't available, that I would have to call back tomorrow to speak with a manager. (this was less than 20 minutes from when I first arrived) I have taken this time out of my day to type up this LONG email in hopes to use this as a training opportunity. I have never been to an establishment where I have interacted with someone so abrasive and unhappy to try to help customers. I hope that she hasn't treated other potential members like this before but with the way she was so casually rude to me and loudly talking about me the moment I stepped away from her I can see her acting like this before. read more

I signed up for personal training at the gym. At first our trainer was good and everything was going fine, He quit and took another job. we were assigned another trainer. she called out sick and never called us when we showed up. The next day we were told she had been fired. we were never contacted about a new trainer, so I complained. nothing was done to address my complaint, I talked to the regional manager she told me she would resolve it. Finally I wrote a letter to the Vasa to cancel my contract for nonperformance on there part. Meanwhile they have been auto billing me ever since. there billing department is out of touch with what's really going on in that company. Based on my experience with Vasa, I do not recommend you do business with them. read more

Do you guys clean this place? The bottoms and crevices of the machines are covered in sweaty dust (PLEASE clean the entire machine). There's hairy dust balls in the corners. I always feel the need to wipe out my locker before I use it. The sauna seats leave black marks on your clothes, and there's so much sweat on the ground in there that white salt streaks have appeared. The wipes come back black when you wipe down the turf equipment. I need to use SOOO MANY wipes at this gym. It's gross. When the machines break, they stay broken for a long time. Both of the arc trainers have been broken for over a year. When you tell the gym employees about this, you are always told a seemingly meaningless "We will let maintenance know". The only things to praise this gym about are kindness on the surface and good prices. read more

It upsets me to have to write this review because, up until this week I was quite happy with this fitness center. I signed up about six months ago and have enjoyed going there to get my workout in and have some good "me" time away from family, work, etc. That was until this week when, on two occasions, Vasa Fitness employees have approached me, literally asking me to remove my headphones and interrupting my fine workout experience, just to try and upsell me on their services. I find this tactic deplorable. What gives them the right to invade my space and pressure me for more money? It's a fitness center, not a car dealership. If I wanted their services, I'm not an idiot, I know where to find them and sign up. And I wouldn't sign up for something as a result of an upsell. Anyway, I will give it a few more weeks and if it happens again, we'll be cancelling... which is very unfortunate. read more

Vasa Fitness is overall a great deal in terms of what you get for the price. Even the mid and high tier packages are worth it if you are into the amenities. For example, red light therapy is pretty expensive a la carte for even a membership at recovery boutiques. Moreover, the current GM is very friendly. The only downside of the overall package is that Sunday has very limited hours. I would like to see the gym at least open at 7am for those who want to get an early start. Vasa has all the usual suspects of precor, life fitness, and hammer strength machines. My main critiques for the main lifting floor are four-fold. There are too many sets of 35lb plates that go unused and just make it more difficult to rack and unrack weights. Any real lifter knows that 35lb plates are useless for almost all applications. The only thing they might be used for is deficit deadlifting, which can already be done with the 45lb plates since hammer strength plates have a smaller diameter than IWF standards. I suggest selling all the 35lb plates except maybe a few pairs for those who wish to use it for ab and roman chair work. With that extra cash, buy more 45lb plates. I routinely need to use 28-32 plates just for the leg press which can be difficult to procure depending on how busy it is. Second, the pec flye / rear delt machine has a weird oval handle that makes it hard to grasp. I think it was meant to be ergonomic, but the shape is clunky and makes the machine pretty much useless for chest work. Third, the upright stand alone benches are crap. They are made from life fitness and wobble. Moreover, they are very unsafe for heavy weight applications since there is no stability. Throw these out and buy some hammer strength upright benches. Fourth, get some lower denomination dumbbells. For those who are just starting out, going from 5lb to 10lb dumbbells is a huge jump. Get 7.5lb, 12.5lb, and 17.5lb dumbbells. When it comes to powerlifting, Vasa seems to have only gotten what a non-powerlifter thinks a powerlifter would need; they fall short of providing an ideal powerlifting environment in many ways I will enumerate here. First of all, there are not enough racks. The Vasa a few miles down thunderbird in the west has double the number of racks and deadlifting platforms. Having only 4 spots is very inefficient since most lifters come in pairs. Just two groups of people can hog up the space for an entire hour. This can be easily remedied by buying 4 more J-cups and 8 more barbells. This effectively allows 4 groups of 3 people to lift in the same space a.k.a. triple efficiency: two on the squat and one on deadlift. Most people won't share but this will make it more likely for faster turnover. Which brings me to the barbells... They are mediocre bars that aren't good for any particular lift. These bars are mediocre for bench press, military press, deadlifts, and squats. For those new bars, I suggest getting 4 Ohio power bars and 4 Ohio deadlift bars. This would allow those who lift 3+ plates to lift safely and efficiently. Which brings me to the deadlift. We need a deadlift jack, a necessity for those who deadlift more than 4 plates. In addition, we need another set of bumper plates for the random deadlift platform outside of the powerlifting area. Also, the deadlifting platform on the main floor should be outfitted with deadlifting band pegs so that people can train with banded resistance. Finally, the landmine needs attachments: t-bar and viking press. A couple of extra things would make this gym even more elite. These are nice to haves but would certainly make the gym stand apart. Get a H-PND/GHD combo machine. There aren't enough options in the gym for hamstring work. Also, convert the hot tub into a cold plunge. This would make vasa way ahead of the curve. The future of gyms in America are cold plunges. Overall, there are a lot of gyms masquerading as friendly for powerlifters these days. Vasa is one of them. I hope they choose to actually provide what is necessary for powerlifters to thrive in this environment. Otherwise, I see myself eventually moving on to another gym that does accommodate these necessities first. read more

LOVE this gym. They knock it out of the park. For once I finally found a gym that is CLEAN, including the men's locker room. They also clearly instill in their employees to be nice and helpful. I've NEVER had anything but great interactions from staff. Also, they take a silver and a Fit which drastically brings the membership cost down. Also, they have great classes, specifically the Studio Red classes which are basically Orange Theory at a faction of the price. Can't wait for the pool and hot tub to open up, and also the Olympic weight room (so the lunk heads can get away from the rest of us normal folks - I can't stand folks who slam down the weights). I have to give this gym some credit. In the mass amount of gyms ( commercial gyms) in Arizona, I have to give this gym some credit. I am always welcomed, yes that goes a long way. I mean welcomed as in they are actual genuine about saying welcome in and have a good day when you leave. Not eye balling me like a another piece of meat walking in that they can score on or like I someone that doesn't know what I'm doing when I walk in. They try to keep this place clean, cleaner than a lot of other gyms I've seen. The staff is always willing to help and or ask answer any question or show you a machine. The trainers are really genuine about their jobs and know what they're doing and are dedicated to help you. I have never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome to be here. There is a good amount of classes offered, however, I feel they should open up the red zone to more people. There's hardly anybody in those classes and I think it's because they restrict it too much. Those are some untapped potential classes does instructors are really amazing out what they do. My only true complaint is the fact that I have made me wait a whole year for the kids club to open and I hope it opens in January 2023 like they said I will keep you posted. I would have loved to give VASA an amazing review as their facility is clean and their desk staff professional. However, I am extraordinarily disappointed in their finance department. I was able to join for one single day before COVID shut all gyms down. I soon requested that they suspend my membership. They placed a "freeze" on my account - and then proceeded to charge me the $50 fee that they charge automatically after two months of "membership" after I have been able to use the facility for three days total. I would understand if I had any opportunity to use the facility but this is $100 extra within my household based on their accounting department - they cannot change my membership when it's "frozen" which conveniently allows them to bump up their fees. I would not recommend using them at all; I understand that COVID has been tough on businesses as other but you run the risk of paying $75 extra for a $20 gym membership that you don't get to use. read more

VASA has somewhat deceptive (but clever) marketing to get you to sign a contract. They often have $0 down promotions with no annual fee and low monthly rates- BUT they will still charge you a rate-lock guarantee after 2 month ($50) and if you try to cancel within 6 months, they will charge you an additional $25 cancellation fee. So if you don't like your experience, it will cost a minimum of $100, even if you only go a couple times. So beware of the promotions. It also took multiple emails and calls to cancel the membership. They have a free trial offer, which would be a better option before signing a contract. Gym and people were fine. read more

Have been pleasantly surprised with VASA, location is spotless from a cleanliness standpoint, staff is friendly and helpful and amenities are a fair value for price. Love the basketball court and selection of cardio equipment. One wish list would be TV's or sound on individual treadmills, so you can hear vs just watching big screen. Movie theatre is an alternative option, but would be a nice add. Overall, VASA has met on all expectations, and would recommend. read more

I have been coming to this gym for quite some time and when I say I love it, I love using the massage beds because of my lower back pain and the sauna and steam room PHEWWWWWWW, man do those things blow heat. COULD maybe update the playlist and play the music a little louder but great staff.
