    Cheese board

I've been wanting to check this place out for a very long time! When I heard they were changing their menu I had to make the time to stop in. So glad I did. We dinned outside deciding to take full advantage of the last few warm days we have left. I'm a novice when it comes to cheese and really had no idea what to try. The menu was pretty expansive I really didn't know where to start. They had several boards that were curated by the monger or you could mix and match a few items. Our server was super helpful and asked a few questions. From there she was able to put together a very nice selection. A mix of fruit, cheese, meat and a few other accompaniments. I also got a corn and crab bowl. Really tasty and light. The crab to corn ratio was perfect. A very enjoyable dish. I definitely plan on visiting this place again soon.

What a great place! Small inside, just a handful of tables, but outdoor seating as well. Great array of cheeses but so much more! Owner was super friendly and had great info about everything we ordered. All locally sourced. They made the mozzarella AT THE TABLE - I didn't even know that was a thing. Crab cakes had zero filler, just amazingly fresh crab. The local sausage was delicious. And the "cookie" for dessert was more than a cookie. Easily split between three of us and delicious to the end. Definitely need a return visit to try more.

WINNER!!! This restaurant is an absolute gem!! Amazing food, top notch service, and a very comfortable environment to dine in. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Found it through a random suggestion on Yelp and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Highlights have to be the cheese board (award winning cheese), oysters, tomato soup and the pimento cheese. In reality everything was amazing but those items really stuck out. The owner (Tyler) was there and is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Loved talking with him about the restaurant. Him and his wife have such a solid past in the restaurant industry that is makes sense that they have created such an amazing restaurant. Please go and enjoy this restaurant, it's an amazing place. Oh and don't forget to order a cocktail. Vaughn's has an extremely strong cocktail program.

Date night in North Beach! We chose Vaughan Cheese Counter and Bar again because the food is delicious and consistant. The staff is so friendly! And always very attentive. They know very well how to treat the customer. We started with the Early Season Tomato Salad seasoned to perfection. The House Seasoned Nuts were a delicious addition to the rest of the meal. We also added the Candied Bacon. We also chose a charcuterie board with three cheeses and four meats along with a variety of breads and crackers. Withe the spicey mustard and and blueberry jam. If you haven't visited Vaughan Cheese, you owe it to yourself make it your date night destination.

Vaughn restaurant provided a demure and elegant dinner experience for me and my lover two nights in a row! It is a not to miss while in North Shore if you love mind blowing food, wine, and ambiance. Megan and Tyler, the owners, went above and beyond to ensure my celiac allergy was well attuned to, and were such a delight to meet and learn about cheese from. The cheeses and wine were so good, we had to buy some to enjoy at home. I love the mission of this space providing American cheeses and supporting local farmers, and donating a percentage of proceeds to good causes. Can't wait to go back for more!

    Beautiful breads and ham.

I've been waiting for this place to open ever since I saw the public hearing signs. I love how quaint it is. Nice assortment of cheeses, some local. Bright inside with outdoor seating. I bought some prepackaged items. The SERIOUS problem is the ham is left out in the open and there were flies inside when I visited. The woman who rang me up was using her BARE HANDS to slice and wrap the cheeses that she was restocking in the chiller. The breads are out, unwrapped, leaning against the wall. I paid cash for my items and she NEVER WASHED HER HANDS after the transaction went back to slicing meat and cheese for the seated tables and then served walk in customers with her bare hands the bread and cheeses. Hopefully they will fix that so I can come back and actually have some charcuterie. Until then I'm not touching anything that isn't wrapped from the manufacturer or provider.

It can definitely get busy, but service is always friendly. Everyone working there was so helpful, and they gave us some amazing recommendations! We even got a sample of a salumi that knocked our socks off. They have a great selection for such a small shop, but you can tell whomever is in charge of the products puts a lot of care and consideration into their choices. The charcuterie selection in the deli was exceptional, and the pantry products were varied and in some cases featured hard-to-find products. We also tried their mini-baguette sandwiches, and they did not disappoint! For only 3 buck a pop, they provided a perfect snack-sized comestible that kept us going on our errands. The decor was nice, with a "little shop in the French countryside" kind of vibe. Nothing too over the top, and nothing too boring. It was classic, but reserved, in a good way that evokes a relaxed feeling. I just wish we had known about this place sooner! So many wasted days not shopping here... But, now we know! I hope to make this a regular stop going forward; good gourmet stores can be hard to find!

Whole Foods charged $12/lb and it was noticeably better. Same story with the short rib I got last month...almost half the price at Whole Foods and experienced better or the same quality. The funniest is the stock bones...$15 for a small pack. You'd need two to make any volume of stock, (so $30), and the same amount of bones would be $10 at the farmers market. I love supporting local places, especially high-quality butchers/groceries. I really do. But there comes a point when you have to ask if you're getting ripped off. With meats DOUBLE the price of another grocer that itself has a reputation for being expensive, it starts feeling like you're being taken advantage of. For what it's worth, the little old lady in front of me almost had a panic attack when they rang her up. I would've bought her groceries for her, but I suddenly realized that me buying a couple pounds of chuck roast and 10 marrow BONES to make stock with would already have me above $100. I saw another person put back cookies because after tax they were $7 each. Sorry, guys, but I'm out.
