We went to Vaughan Cheese last night. We got there 30 minutes before closing. We were greeted immediately by their owner, Megan, along with another friendly face, Brandy. They were not rushing us. Actually the opposite. They made us feel right at home. It was our first time. They found out what we liked to drink and what kind of cheeses we enjoyed. Megan created us a custom charcuterie board and paired the wine perfectly. We also enjoyed the steak and cheddar sandwich. Everything was delicious. We will be back. read more

Definitely try the house made mozzarella cheese prepared table side. The ricotta cheese with lavash bread is outstanding! I've been wanting to check this place out for a very long time! When I heard they were changing their menu I had to make the time to stop in. So glad I did. We dinned outside deciding to take full advantage of the last few warm days we have left. I'm a novice when it comes to cheese and really had no idea what to try. The menu was pretty expansive I really didn't know where to start. They had several boards that were curated by the monger or you could mix and match a few items. Our server was super helpful and asked a few questions. From there she was able to put together a very nice selection. A mix of fruit, cheese, meat and a few other accompaniments. I also got a corn and crab bowl. Really tasty and light. The crab to corn ratio was perfect. A very enjoyable dish. I definitely plan on visiting this place again soon. read more

What a great place! Small inside, just a handful of tables, but outdoor seating as well. Great array of cheeses but so much more! Owner was super friendly and had great info about everything we ordered. All locally sourced. They made the mozzarella AT THE TABLE - I didn't even know that was a thing. Crab cakes had zero filler, just amazingly fresh crab. The local sausage was delicious. And the "cookie" for dessert was more than a cookie. Easily split between three of us and delicious to the end. WINNER!!! This restaurant is an absolute gem!! Amazing food, top notch service, and a very comfortable environment to dine in. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Found it through a random suggestion on Yelp and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Highlights have to be the cheese board (award winning cheese), oysters, tomato soup and the pimento cheese. In reality everything was amazing but those items really stuck out. The owner (Tyler) was there and is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Loved talking with him about the restaurant. Him and his wife have such a solid past in the restaurant industry that is makes sense that they have created such an amazing restaurant. Please go and enjoy this restaurant, it's an amazing place. Date night in North Beach! We chose Vaughan Cheese Counter and Bar again because the food is delicious and consistant. The staff is so friendly! And always very attentive. They know very well how to treat the customer. We started with the Early Season Tomato Salad seasoned to perfection. The House Seasoned Nuts were a delicious addition to the rest of the meal. We also added the Candied Bacon. We also chose a charcuterie board with three cheeses and four meats along with a variety of breads and crackers. Withe the spicey mustard and and blueberry jam. Vaughn restaurant provided a demure and elegant dinner experience for me and my lover two nights in a row! It is a not to miss while in North Shore if you love mind blowing food, wine, and ambiance. Megan and Tyler, the owners, went above and beyond to ensure my celiac allergy was well attuned to, and were such a delight to meet and learn about cheese from. The cheeses and wine were so good, we had to buy some to enjoy at home. I have been hearing about Vaughn Cheese so I wanted to check it out. I met a friend, we sat outside, and had a lovely dinner. They have great cheese tray appetizers. We shared one with three different cheddars. I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio. For our main meal, I tried their mushroom dish with cheddar polenta. It was very yummy, satisfying comfort food. We shared a dessert of chocolate, cheese, and strawberries. I was in a cheese coma, but I was extremely happy. The service was great. read more

We attended the Kentucky Derby Party at 165.00 per person and couldn't have been more disappointed. Not enough seating (we stood for a good bit of time), only one TV for viewing the Kentucky Derby, predominately wine or mint juleps (nothing else) and the food was mediocre appetizers.....all for 165.00 per person. I've been waiting for this place to open ever since I saw the public hearing signs. I love how quaint it is. Nice assortment of cheeses, some local. Bright inside with outdoor seating. I bought some prepackaged items. The SERIOUS problem is the ham is left out in the open and there were flies inside when I visited. The woman who rang me up was using her BARE HANDS to slice and wrap the cheeses that she was restocking in the chiller. The breads are out, unwrapped, leaning against the wall. I paid cash for my items and she NEVER WASHED HER HANDS after the transaction went back to slicing meat and cheese for the seated tables and then served walk in customers with her bare hands the bread and cheeses. Hopefully they will fix that so I can come back and actually have some charcuterie. Until then I'm not touching anything that isn't wrapped from the manufacturer or provider. read more

I used to live in North Beach many years ago and local friends told me about this place when it opened. Back for a visit, we ended up there on a Sunday afternoon. The wait staff was WONDERFUL; friendly, completely knowledgeable about everything and made excellent recommendations! I was pleasantly surprised with the menu and had a tough time deciding what to get. But it was a cold blustery day, so I settled on the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup (more on that later). I also ordered the Hot Mulled Wine which was a perfect warm up! We ordered the Vaughan Made Mozzarella for an appetizer. Not only was it fun to watch being made, but it was delicious! When our meals came out, we were delighted with the presentation. But I kinda blacked out and had a religious experience as I ate the grilled cheese and soup. The tangy, peppery flavors of the soup were perfectly balance with the mix of cheeses perfectly melted (on the inside) and slightly crunchy (on the outside) on the brioche bun. Seriously! I don't remember ANY of the conversation during my meal because I was utterly savoring every bite!! Everyone was very pleased with what they ordered and even though we'll be in town only a few more days, we will DEFINITELY be going back to Vaughan Cheese!! read more

The bread was dry and, even better, the gave me the end of the loaf. Not much ham or cheese, but a lot of mustard, which,for a $15 sandwich, is pretty disappointing. The arugula and strawberry salad was good, but we ordered with chicken and they gave small pieces of dark meat. (Which also is fine, but make that clear.... Not the typical type added to a salad.). Mary & a gentleman at the Cheese Counter we SO helpful and helped us pick a 6 piece cheese board to try out as an appetizer. We had delicious wines as well. As a meal we had a roasted red pepper sandwich and a steak & pickled vegetable sandwich. They were sized perfectly and we raved about our meals!
