The whole area is 25 acres and for the most part, kept the way it was back in the day. The architecture and old buildings were fun to look at; some even had old engraved signs stating what it was, for example a bank and hotel. There's a self guided walking tour, I saw signs throughout the main road. It's about two miles and takes an hour and a half. There were restaurants and shops throughout. A few of my favorite buildings were, the NH State House, Clock Tower, and NH State Library. Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the US had a home there. The oldest house that is still standing was built in 1735, it belonged to Reverend Timothy Walker. My family and I enjoyed walking around, exploring, shopping, and eating there.

These are the worst Town workers I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They lose my…read moreproperty tax bills for 2 of the 3 lots i have for 3 years and put a lien on my property... they sent me property tax bills for 3 yrs that were roughly $6000 per yr, so I thought that I was paying the balance in full. I was never told there were outstanding balances, and now I have fees and interest added on and they admit there was a clerical error. They told me they were sending 2 of 3 bills to a random bank, and only sending the property tax bill to me that had lot with my house on it... I visit them in person and they (kathleen rogers) tells me I owe 1700$ total and that included fees and interest for 3 yrs, but she will appeal to board of selectman to take of fees and interest due to their error.. well I follow up today and find out that now my balance is 3000$ with fees and interest removed.. I am livid, my balance has doubled and not one person knows what they are doing in that town. I have still yet to get any copies of any bills. The town has no reason to have 4th highest taxes in the state... There are very few business and nothing to do in town. I live on a dirt road in a flood zone, and the town doesn't even ploy my street.. I can't wait to move and I suggest you to move far away from Allenstown NH USA.. I would give 0 stars if I could...

Lived in my residence a year and all the sudden my mail was all sent back and a vacant mail letter…read morewas in my mailbox- I have no way to get all the mail that was sent back as they will not send it again. Customer service did not call me back when I asked why this was happening to someone who has been getting mail for at the residence for over a year. I was sick for a week and my mail gets returned and you put DO NOT DELIVER MAIL notice in my mailbox. Unfortunate experience and now trying to locate all my mail.

In January 2012 we were driving through the City of Portsmouth on the way to Maine and happened to catch the USS Albacore submarine at the Albacore Park. We stopped and parked our car only to find out that they were closed for its annual maintenance until 2/18 beginning that day we arrived, 1/22. Bummer. USS Albacore museum tours are self-guided. On June 2023 again while passing through NH from MA we stopped in Franconia looking for the fabled stone face. We had a bit of a challenge locating this place. It should've been easy just off Highway 93 (Exit 34B)... this rock formation on the top of Cannon Mountain was supposed to resemble a human's face above Profile Lake but is no longer there. It collapsed on May 2003 due to natural forces. The museum was closed at the time but I followed a nice paved trail, a scenic pathway to Profile Lake and The Old Man of the Mountain Profiler Plaza. There were interactive instructions for a unique experience in viewing the Old Man of the Mountain. The Quaint Town of Littleton: We parked behind Main Street (metered parking) and walked down towards the RiverWalk Covered Bridge. The bridge is long and crosses over the Ammonoosuc River. It wasn't visible from the main road but is located behind Main Street. Beautiful setting with the mountains as backdrop. Main Street was busy that day... the town was celebrating Pollyanna Glad Day. This is a big deal for this town paying tribute to their hometown author, Littleton-born Eleanor H. Porter. A bronze Pollyanna statue is situated on the lawn outside the library on Main Street... there she was, the cheery and welcoming ambassador, New Hampshire's most welcoming attraction as the centerpiece of historic downtown. There was plenty to explore in this wonderful White Mountains community, unfortunately, our exploring was cut short when the skies turned gray and started to rain... hard! This was in June... This is an amazing public library. They have a very knowledgeable staff that will help you find…read morewhatever you're looking for - they have not only books but also CDs and DVDs - and if they don't have it will get it either by inter library loan or buying it themselves for the library's collection. They also have a great selection of magazines. The most current issue of each magazine has to stay in the library (you can read at one of their many tables or desks) but any older editions are available for checking out. They also have a great selection of audiobooks, which is great especially for children - listened to Harry Potter all the way to Canada and back when I was in middle school! This is also a wonderful place to study. I spent a couple weeks studying for the DAT for dental school here and the environment was great. Quiet, clean, and well lit I found it easy to work. There were also dozens of places to sit and free fast Wi-Fi. They have events for kids and reading hours, as well as helping you set up your eReader for access to NH's online library. This really is just about as good as a public library gets.

I have used them only once, but pretty much got the standard treatment. They contact the vendor you have a dispute with, pretty much reply with a non-committal response that the sponsor feeds them, and then they're done. I have found them pretty much average, as they perform their "services" pretty much on script. I think the error may be that people think that they somehow are an advocate for people who use the businesses that are members. Actually they are advocates for the Businesses. Keep this in mind and use them judiciously as the whole system is basically geared to the businesses and not you. It's not a ruse or anything, it just is what it is. It does question why the BBB "sticker in the window" thing is really worth anything, now doesn't it?
