Had a horrible experience there & will never go back! Two young girls came into get my pup for "testing?" Girls were about 10-12 yrs old. I had no idea who they were & told them no and left. I booked an appointment here for my new puppy and enrolled him in a care plan. I find the pricing for that to be reasonable. Everyone my puppy and I encountered was very professional, friendly, welcoming,and engaged with their work. I am glad this is where I chose to take my puppy. Staff was callous and rude. It was incredibly hot outside, so I decided to sit inside with in the air conditioning, rather than sit in my car and do a drive-up. The staff was saying, "I don't understand why ANYONE would come inside when they could just wait in their car," clearly aimed at me, being as I was the only one sat inside. I could not see my cat during the exam, so I was unable to ask questions or see how she was doing. The vet brought her back to me, said she's quite sick, and will be back with a treatment plan. I was hopeful. That treatment plan? Euthanasia. I went to Anamosa Vet Clinic for a second opinion and they did all they could to help my baby, and yet only charged me 1/3rd of the price VCA charged me just to run a few tests and shove me out the door. A door they apparently didn't want me use to begin with. The people who work here are cold, callous, and clearly don't have compassion for animals or people. With so many wonderful vets nearby, I don't understand why ANYONE would come here. read more

(This review is based on a duo of experiences we had with Edgewood about 4 months ago.. we waited to see if they'd reach out to us and smooth things over, but they did not. So, now that we have our furballs settled with a different vet for medical care - here is our revised review.) We had been a client of this veterinarian since the 90's, and actually followed her from a small town clinic to Edgewood when she transferred because she had always been kind, treated animals amazing and always helpful. This changed for us last August. We called to ask for one of our cats to be seen because he was getting sick regularly and losing weight. We were told that they didn't have an appointment opening for weeks, due to Covid. We understood, but also knew he couldn't wait that long. So, our particular veterinarian said she could squeeze him in for tests between other appointments and that was great! We took him up there and I innocently asked via text "if it's still "covid  restrictions" for going inside the clinic?". We also asked when we called to check in,  just in case she didn't have the chance to see the message.  Somehow that evolved into her storming out of the clinic and to our car. Before I could even get out my car, she was very close to me,  eyes flashing and told me I needed to stop "manipulating her and being rude to her aides" - very unprofessional. I couldn't get a word in edgewise before she stormed back inside. I admittedly had a small mental breakdown in my car after she quickly went back inside due to her outburst triggering my anxiety. If he haven't been sick, we would've left without being seen. Another tech came out and got our cat and the appointment finished. Once we got notification in the day that followed that medication was needed, I asked what it was for and they said she was unavailable to speak with me and all other doctors were busy. And they couldn't transfer the prescription to a clinic closer. So we went to get it, and when that tech brought it out, they just thrust it at us through the window with little acknowledgement and when I called after her to ask what it was for and how to give it - she told me "it's on the bottle" and went inside. (It did have the info on what was in the bottle, but we still had no idea what was actually wrong or what the treatment plan was.) Google and then our new vet helped clear it up for us. That was when we decided enough was enough and found a new clinic before we were halfway home and they got him in right away, explained everything including his condition,  test results and medication. Cherry on top of this bitter dish of  experience? When we had all our animals records transferred,  we saw what had been written in the exam notes for the day of the testing.. and the closest thing I could tell you to compare it to is when you see a movie that says, "Based on a true story" but only the bare sequence of events was correct.. I won't tell you to steer away from this clinic,  but please do your due diligence at looking at their Google reviews and their Facebook feedback.. AND at their prices. Our new vet is a fraction of the cost,  we can get in quicker and they have decades of experience among them. read more

Top dollar,zero quality. They are strictly a cash grab. If you have an emergency it will be addressed on their time and not your pet's. In my opinion, I wouldn't be surprised if they diagnosed pet's based off of you tube tutorials. Good luck if you use them. What a generic copy and paste reply. I was from out of town. They saw my dog may 5 and told my there was nothing wrong with him and after several test and a bill for $1000 sent us on our way. They didn't follow up sending information to my vet even after I reminded them twice By the time I got him home early sat am to my regular vet he was almost dead with sepsis. He's been in an emergency hospital on so many meds and fluids and will most likely not make it. Please please do NOT take your pet here. read more

My vet has been great, but I've also had some less than desirable experiences with others that work there. My dog has been going there since I bought her. She's been on their medication and it's been no problem. But recently, I was just denied being able to get heartworm medication because my appointment is after the test date. I find this ridiculous. Dr Leo took wonderful care of our elderly dog for many years and was a trusted advisor to our family regarding the health of our pet. In the end, when it was time to say goodbye, she was the most compassionate and caring doctor we could have hoped for who made the whole experience less scary. In one of the saddest moments of my life, I am so thankful to have had my dog under the care of Dr Leo who helped us do what was best for both our dog and our family in the most humane way. read more

Very impressed! Our long-term vet recently retired and we transferred to this practice for our dogs (ages 14 and 2 yrs). We came on two different days (my request) and met with two different doctors. Both gave so much time to us, it was remarkable. They had printed out our dogs' entire histories that had been faxed over from our other vet and they had already read everything about their patient(s) before entering the room. My husband and I work in human medicine and I hope we are doing as well! read more

Great vet. Vet makes monthly phone calls to check up on my dog. He has seizures and she has done so much for him. So glad we switched vets.

I love this place! I took my 2 dogs (Yoda & Abby) here to get their shots up to date. This was our first time going to EAH and we will be going back! This place is friendly and fantastic! I am new to the area and was referred to Dr. Leigh through a former patient of hers. She is very responsive and will actually call you back if you have a question that the vet assistants can't answer. She does not waste your time or money. I take my parrot to her and she has many new and creative ideas for his health that I had not heard before. She is focused on providing natural elements to his environment to mimic what he would be experiencing in the wild. I am new to the area. I have four birds and a cat - and I will take all of them there when they need care in the future. read more

I've been taking my pets here for 10+ years. I have gone to other vets once or twice, but Edgewood Animal Hospital has the best prices. Also, when i could not afford my dogs surgery, they allowed me to make payments. They are stocked with many products, the vets have good and friendly advice, and are all very knowledgable. The staff are all friendly, with the exception of maybe one person, but I will never take my pets anywhere else. read more

Took my cat in for a routine neutering and a few days later noticed 2 open wounds on his stomach down by his crotch. It was horrifying and I immediately took him to the emergency vet to get fixed up. He is now confined to a kennel with a cone on his head, obviously in pain and is very stressed out. I called edgewood to see what had caused this and was told that it couldnt have been anything they did and that maybe instead I wasnt watching him close enough after the neuter and that licking probably caused it. The gaping holes in his stomach were not caused by licking, and although I have no clue what caused them, he was a happy and healthy kitty before I got him neutered here. I've been taking my cat here for almost a year and half now. My experience here has been great every time I bring my cat in for a check up. The vets and vet assistants always handled my cat with care and always would comment on how good she was during the visits. Recently my cat had a minor ear infection and I kept having to bring her back in for checkups on her ears. Dr. Delaney was her vet during these visits and I couldn't of been happier with her being my cat's vet. Not only she handled my cat with care but would be real informative about her ear infection. Needless to say my cat's ears were well taken care of and I will continue to bring my pets back here. read more

They're out to get your money. They doctor acts very caring to get you to do multiple, expensive tests only to tell you "I don't know" or" everything looks fine." They want your money before they care for your pets. My pet was close to dying and I had to go to a different vet the same day just to get some antibiotics. Dr. Gilman has zero knowledge with the conversations I've had with him. read more

We have 2 dogs, 3 cats, a guniea pig, an iguana, a bunny and a prairie dog. The dogs love their dr. and I get little post card reminders about their shots, plus they are very good about faxing records to groomers, boarders, etc. Everyone else dislikes going to the vet, but I don't think they would get better care anywhere else. read more

I'm not even sure they qualify for one star, other than yes, you can call them vets?? I have never been in a more disorganized place in my life! I would fear leaving my dog there, because I am sure that it would come back with some type of worse problem than it went in for. They make you do services that are not needed, and if you happen to leave you dog, hopefully it gets done what the bill says was done! Usually I get another bill about a week after I have been there telling me they forgot to charge for something they did and now they want me to pay. They have changed owners and are now 2-3 times a higher with crapy service!! read more

I saw their ad for, first time clients head to tail check-up one dollar, figured I couldn't go wrong so decided to give them a shot. I was very impressed with Edgwood Animal Hospital. They took their time with Whisper as well as with all my questions. I rescued a dog from an extremely bad situation and thought he might need to be muzzled for his appointment, But the vet and vet tech. both were so GREAT with him that he didn't feel threatened or uncomfortable and didn't have to be. They both gave me TONS of information on his all around care, medically and emotionally. The front desk staff was VERY friendly! I love that they do the rebates for you! I also like that they have so many services all in one place. I highly recommend them for anyone's pets! read more

I've been taking our furry babies here for at least 5 years, and from the front door to the exam rooms, it's a wonderful experience. Each vet/tech/receptionist is amazing and they empathize with our pets as well as the fear we may be feeling regarding what could be wrong with them. They are patient with all of our questions, and we never feel rushed during the time with the vet. I absolutely love Edgewood Animal Hospital and it's staff.
