Dr Horn is a 5 star plus Veterinarian as are the technicians and other doctors I met at VCA but VCA is a minus 5 star company. There is no Customer Service at VCA. I was actually told by the person assigned to help me that they were "only trying to help their peers". Obviously, they were not trying to help the customer because my issue has not been resolved and there has been no effort made or intention shown to resolve my issue. I have been hung up on by the Assistant Manager and ignored by the Corporate Office. The Regional Operations person I was assigned to was unhelpful and rude. Without resolving my problem, I was told by the Operations Person assigned to me that VCA Policy prohibits them from resolving my issue and that they could not help me. I was told that there would be no further communication. I read the policy and I disagree! The issue can be and should have been resolved by any number of VCA employees. There is no way to escalate a complaint and there is no accountability. After several weeks of speaking to and emailing multiple people (Staff Employees, Assistant Manager, Manager, Corporate Operations Representative, Doctor, Corporate CEO and Corporate Medical Director), I still don't have a resolution for my issue. The problem started when I scheduled an appointment for my cat online. VCA registered me under someone else's personal account because I was placed on someone else's personal account as a co-owner 10 years ago by the account holder without my consent. I asked VCA to create a separate account under my name for "my" animals and to remove me as a co-owner on the other account. After several weeks of speaking to and emailing multiple people (Staff Employees, Assistant Manager, Manager, Corporate Operations Representative, Doctor, Corporate CEO and Corporate Medical Director), I have made little progress. I have been hung up on, ignored, treated rudely and still been unable to resolve this problem. Per FS 474.202 (3). Definitions (3) "Client" means the owner or caretaker of an animal who arranges for veterinary care. Per FS, I am clearly the client. I take care of the cat. The cat has lived with me for 8 years and has never lived with the account holder we were assigned. I made the appointment for my cat. I took the cat to the appointment, and I paid for the appointment. What is the wrong with VCA, their policies and their employees??? VCA can't force me to share my animals or an account with someone else, someone who I have no relationship with! I did not setup the account VCA put me on, nor did I consent to being a co-owner on the account assigned to me by VCA. I did not consent to waive my rights to have a personal VCA account in the future and I did not agree to forever be associated with someone who put me on their account as a co-owner 10 years ago. Like everyone else, I expect to have an account in "my name for my animals". Unfortunately, I can report that after weeks of communication, no-one at VCA has taken the interest or initiative to resolve my issue. I still do not have my own account with VCA and VCA simply doesn't care! VCA and their employees have no interest in resolving this problem and... the fish really does appear to stink from the head down! read more

Wow. I brought my newly rescued cat there. Just...woah. Any question to the technician was snidely answered with, "I don't know. I'm a dog guy." And I asked quite a few questions. Guess what? He's a dog guy. The doctor insisted my cat was fine and needed no tests (sneezing, runny EYE ... it's a one eyed cat, and coughing). I've never felt more helpless in the presence of an expert. I finally got him to run a test. He calls me two days later. She's sick. Thanks doc. I picked up the medication and the welcome pack they forgot the first time today, and I don't reckon I will be there ever again. We all have bad days. Off days. I get it. I hope the doc is well. But I hope my cat gets well too. I'm taking her to another Vet for, hopefully, more care and respect. read more

They provide excellent care for my dog and have from the beginning. I made the mistake of putting a flea and tick medicine on her from Walmart. She had hives all over her body. I called the vet I had been taking her to. The said they couldn't see her for several days even though I told the it was urgent. I called VCA and the took her in that day. They were excellent and called me the next day to see how she was doing. Every time I've had to take her there they follow up the next day with a call. I took the monthly service with them and I don't have to pay for office visits. I just have to pay for meds when needed. Also don't pet for yearly shots. I take her often for nails to be cut and they are always very gentle taking her in the back. I usually see Dr. Klein but if he's not in I've seen other doctors. The are all great. read more

I am SO grateful for Dr. Finkelstein, Rebecca, Dr. Klein, Dr. Nancy and the entire staff that our dog Bella has been blessed to meet. The loving care and expertise they have given her at every visit as well as follow up care has been exceptional!!! We were new to the area but familiar with VCA from out of state and also received local personal recommendations to bring Bella here. In the past 6 weeks Bella had a first check up with initial concern, which revealed she had a mast cell tumor (cancer), she had a vomiting & diarrhea episode and most recently surgery to remove mast cell tumors (more cancerous tumors that were found by Dr. Finkelstein the day of surgery that she removed). Bella is 5 years "young" she is a happy and loving family member!!! We are forever grateful to have Bella under Dr. Finkelstein's care and highly recommend VCA in Vero beach, FL. read more

took my cat there for a checkup they took her in the back of the exam rooms when they came back they told me the bill was 600.00 i asked for what they ran up a bill by trimming claws, shots even though she had them flea treatments and she had those, examination fees, etc after telling them there was no way i was paying those charges and to bring me my cat they refused to return her till they were paid i ended up paying them 200.00 that they said was minimum.I also used to use them with my diabetic cat (same cat) one night my cat had a seizure i called them told them of the emergency and explained i will drop her off and pay you after work when i get my check they refused to see the cat without immediate payment my cat died i will never go there again and i suggest you think twice before going here read more

That being said the office staff are the most inept, fucking moronic, lazy pieces of shit that somehow manage to hold a job on the god damned planet. Do NOT expect to even be garnered the modicum of respect one might believe to come with that of a customer who shells out exorbitant amounts of money there on a regular basis. Don't even expect them to recognize you as a client when dealing with a third party. The front of house staff would be hard pressed to find another employer who would take them. I have been to VCA 5 times and have had very good experience each time. I have been to 3 different doctors (only bc 3 times I just wanted first available appt) and all 3 were fantastic. The techs are kind and you never feel rushed. My dog loves coming here which makes my decision even easier. I highly recommend the techs at VCA. They were patient and found the best way to help my dog with her fear of getting her nails cut. I traveled to this location from Winter Park, the VCA Howell Branch is our vet but we needed a surgery done for our little kitty boy, Taco. I am SO VERY grateful that we made the trip here and got the opportunity to have Dr. Horn and his team to work on him. They were awesome from the start! With the pandemic they followed safe protocols- and took wonderful care of little man! Dr. Horn called to check in on him numerous times, even on Thanksgiving Day! My heard has been going to see Dr Horn at the VCA for 20 years now and it is amazing how truly wonderful the facility the staff and the Dr's are. The staff always have a smile on their faces, they have wonderful personalities they take the time to explain everything to you in a caring and friendly way. They make you feel like family. I decided to seek a second opinion and saw Dr. Darrell Horn, who immediately felt his abdomen and quickly diagnosed his problem. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Horn's clinical expertise and ability to diagnose a problem. The staff at the clinic was incredible and very caring through the process. EXCEPTIONAL in every way. Every single staff member and Dr. has treated me, my wife, and my pets (as well as friends') with the utmost compassion and care. I have never had an issue or problem with VCA/FVL. My pets have been patients of Dr. Horn & colleagues for over 8 years, so I have had many positive experiences with the clinic. Whether it be routine vaccines, wellness check-ups, or emergencies (of which I have had a few), I have NEVER been let down by this team. They have awesome hours, and the Tuesday vaccine clinic will save you time and $. As of this writing, they also have an on-call Dr. or PA until 10:00 pm - amazing to me for a clinic with so many pets on record! They also assist with licensing, Home Again chips, etc. They can handle anything, and will do their utmost to keep you happy - and your pet happy and HEALTHY. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Neither should you :) BTW, the facility is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. read more

Let me preface this by saying Dr. Horn has received many good recommendations from friends, so this review isn't for him. My first visit was just a checkup and shots. The vet claimed to have found a flea within seconds of looking at my cat, and suggested we get her on flea medication. My cat does not have fleas, and never has. I immediately got up to search for them and found absolutely nothing. The tech started looking as well. We used a comb and inspected every inch of her. Nothing. He threw the little "flea" away in the trash before we had a chance to look at it, but I felt really skeptical about anything he said after that. I forget who I had that time, but this time my cat was very sick and showing some pretty serious symptoms. Dr. George, saw my cat and immediately did X-rays and bloodwork. That's fine and all, I would rather get them done and have an idea of what's going on than just guess. X-rays were immediate and came back fine. Bloodwork would take a day. "Just keep an eye on her and see how she does". I ask over and over what he thinks it could be. "Hard to say because it could be so many things." Ok.. Next day, she's still lethargic, not eating, not using the litter. He called with the results of the bloodwork and everything was fine. "Just keep an eye on her and call me tomorrow and let me know." You have nothing to offer? No idea of what's going on? No potential diagnosis? No meds? (Aside from a $90 shot for nausea that they wanted to sell instead of a $20 tablet they never mentioned UNTIL we asked). Nope, I'm supposed to just keep an eye on her. The next day I call. Aaaand he's not working that day. I immediately get her in her carrier and take her to the Cat Hospital of Vero. They fit us in without an appointment on a very busy day. They had the results faxed over from VCA. She talks to me and inspects her. She gives me potential causes and explains things. She had an idea and did a snap test for Pancreatitis which came back as abnormal meaning she almost certainly has that. I had never heard Pancreatitis mentioned once at VCA. She gets her appetite meds, nausea meds, antibiotics, and give her fluids right then. She doesn't just tell me to "keep an eye on her". I get pamphlets and articles printed out. My cat gets home, sleeps a bit, gets up, and eats a little (hadn't even used the appetite meds at this point). She starts walking around and rubbing things and just looked 10x better. That night she sleeps with us all night which she hadn't been doing. Next morning she eats a normal amount, and is already getting in trouble like always. She's basically 100% back to her old self. I will never be going back to VCA. Dr. Horn might be fine, but I'm 0/2 on their other vets. read more

This review only applies to Dr. Horn and the VCA in general, not the helpful support staff and vet techs who do help make the office visits bearable. Dr. Horn is arrogant and condescending, and did not adequately explain his credentials while assuring he could perform surgery on my dog's knee. While I cannot directly trace the death of my beloved dog only five days after surgery to Dr. Horn's medical incompetence, I hope my experience serves to warn others who are considering having him perform surgery. Please seek a qualified veterinary surgeon, and do not trust Dr. Horn to put your animal back together. I felt like I was being churned for money and additional services even after, when requesting my dog be cremated. We paid an extravagant amount for this service that should have been included, given the tragic circumstances. read more

Called this place in the morning and was able to get in for an appointment in the early afternoon. Very pleased with all aspects of this place. The vet assistant was very thorough taking down all of our information and copying my dog's records from our home vet. Dr. Stein was very knowledgeable and actually very funny. He examined my dog, looked over all her previous paperwork and prescribed an antibiotic that worked well. He even called the next morning to see how she was doing and asked if I had questions. When we go there for check ups for our dog and cat we get treated well. But I feel like they don't give us the whole story. I feel as if I get reprimanded for not doing things that they should have told us to do on our last visit. Even though the newer facilities are much better, I think they gave more personalized care in the old location. read more

BEWARE: I believe the veterinarians come and go too often. I was first with Dr. Smith, then Dr. Rennee Mannsfield, then Dr. Ariana Finkelstein, and I was only able to see this last doctor one time. She requested a blood test for my dog, which I then scheduled. When I went in for the follow up blood test I was charged another full doctors visit of $47.00 with Dr. Horn. Just be aware that you may have to pay to see a new doctor each time you go in. They are not fully aware of what is going on with your pets and you will have to have to fill them in anyway. It is a useless charge that take advantage of patients who come in regularly. read more

cannot say enough wonderful things about FVLeague!!!! There arent enough words to describe the caring and compassion of each and every staff member every day of the year. Without a doubt- my dogs would not be the healthy happy animals they are without them. Doesnt matter what time of day you need assistance, there is someone there to help. All the vets are lovely. My favorite though is Dr Kennedy, i would follow that woman to the ends of the earth if she ever moved there. Her competence level is through the roof when it comes to canine health. She always greet her patients, doggies too, with a smile. If something is wrong, rest assured Dr Kennedy will know what it is and work to fix the problem as fast as possible. She calls me immediately with lab results over the phone when they come in, no waiting till the next day. The assisting vet techs are knowlegable and friendly too-competent and ready to answer your basic questions. Their office is always clean, its large- no crowding or dogs in each others spaces.The lobby is large enough accommodate many animals while you wait to be seen. AND they always have treats at the ready for their hungry patients! There is a large scale in the lobby if you want to weigh in your pet before its appointment. Staff is organized. Check in is a breeze. They even have their own pharmacy, so no schleping Fido to the supermarket to fill a prescription. The meds are brought right to you in your exam room. You can pay for the visit right there in the exam room with your vet tech, no waiting up at the front desk to pay or paperwork to fumble with as you keep track of your pet. They have lots of literature to read, pet foods, & treats galore. Their prices are not out of line with the rest of vets in the area- in fact, i find them to be less expensive. I had a wonderful experience at Florida veterinary league. From the moment I walked in the door and the staff members greeted me and my golden retriever Nala with love and hospitality, they were very attentive and immediately took us to an exam room. Rachel came in to gather the history, realizing that Nala needed extensive surgery on her knees to help her be able to walk comfortably. Dr. Horn was able to immediately let me know what surgical options were ideal to help her live a comfortable healthy life and he was able to take her to surgery that very same week. Luis, the head surgery tech gave me a tour of the hospital with pride ensuring me that he would personally make sure that Nala received personalized care and that he would treat her as if she was his own beloved pet. Following her surgery I received a call as well as text pictures of her as well as x-rays of her knee to show me her extensive repair. Dr. Horn made me feel comfortable with personalized updates of her procedure throughout her stay at the hospital. I sincerely think the team of professionals at Florida veterinary league for loving Nala and making her comfortable during her stay at the hospital. Best not to go here for life or death situation. Uncaring. We had to put our 15 year old shih Tzu down. He was a patient of theirs for years. Days before we put him down he had a clogged nose so we took him in to the vet. They tranquilized him and while he was under the vet insisted on pulling his loose teeth. I said no but she insisted. Provided many procedures that were not necessary. The night we put him down he woke us at 11:30 pm crying and in pain. I called and spoke with the vet on call. I asked if we could bring him in to have him put down and was told to take him to Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital. The vet would not tend to our little one. Very sad. read more
