What didn't dr. Robinson do . She will definitely be my dog's new veterinarian. She is very understanding. She seems to care about her patience and their mommies and daddies. She was very thorough with the head to tail examination explaining to me while my dog was limping and has been for quite some time I've taken her to two other vets and they missed a torn ACL and because of that my dog is now having issues dr. Robinson gives off an awesome chill vibe. She seems very knowledgeable and if you have leftover medication that is not expired she really doesn't mind if you use it versus her prescribing it or sending you out the door with $100 prescription that you already have at home great vet she does care and does understand inflation and that people can't take their animals to the vet because it's ridiculously expensiveThey are not ridiculously expensive. They are completely legit. The first visit was free and I got a free flea treatment as well which I thought was very nice. Definitely go. If you're thinking about taking your pet !!! I have gone here for years. The doctors are wonderful. However; there is NEVER a set price on any procedure. The prices change and you have no choice but to pay. I took my senior dog for blood work which always supposed to be 260.00 when I came to the front is was 460. When I asked about the teeth cleaning they won't give a solid price. The young woman in the reception area named Chloe was rude and disrespectful of me. I have spent $$$$$$$$ of dollars here but I sincerely believe they are overpriced a nail trim that was 16.00 one year ago is now 47.00. Seriously? It's a money racket. It's sad. You can't afford to go here if you are a regular person. The doctors are good but way OVERPRICED. it's the same as human healthcare. If you are moderate or low income you are screwed. Place is the best. Dog had a terrible tooth infection. All vets in tri city wanted charge me emergency visit 200$ plus. I was able call and got me in 10 minutes later 25$ visit and medicine 5$ and 2 weeks later was able pull teeth and dog is back to normal. Thank you so much read more

VCA just saved Lily's life, the vets and staff are amazing here and very caring of the animals and owners. I called a lot to check on her and even stopped by to spend one on one time with my Lily while she fought this battle . If it wasn't for VCA Lily would not be here. VCA came up with a plan quick and treated Lily as the emergency she was, we are home now and taking meds. I know VCA will be there when I need them again!!! read more

While I love the service here, it is quite expensive. I brought my 2 kittens here that I'd just adopted from a shelter and found out they had distemper. I had 4 kittens I had adopted from the shelter two girls and two boys, the two little girls had distemper bad and the boys had milder cases. It cost me over $400.00 to have them looked at and I lost both the little girls. It was heartbreaking. If you have the money to use them, they are good and caring vets but you pay for it. I've had no choice but to change to another vet that is equally compassionate but much more reasonably priced. read more

I am shocked at the reviews this veterinary hospital has received. I took my cat there, she had climbed up on a high cabinet and lain on a sticky insect tray that I did not was there, having just moved in a short time ago. I was able to pull the little sticky tray off her, but then was afraid that it could be toxic if she tried to lick it off. The staff was so accommodating in fitting us in, they took us during the lunch break, they were the 4th vet office I called. Dr. Haderer and his vet assistant worked with my cat. I was sure she would have to be sedated, she usually does not warm up to strangers. They were so kind and gentle with her that she seemed to trust them right away. The doc said he would see if she needed sedation, he would have to shave my cat's leg to get the sticky stuff off. He was able to do it without sedation, and my cat remained calm and pretty darn happy! I'm so glad I went to this vet, and I will be using them in the future. I'm so delighted I found them. The entire staff was polite, kind and so solicitous. read more

I wanted to leave a review after I saw some of the negative ones. Those are so false. Do not be misled by those. This place is absolutely wonderful in every way. I have taken several of my animals to VCA and they are always treated with kindness and concern. These people are very friendly while being professional. On one visit my appointment was scheduled for one of the vets who was actually off that day and I was offered the option of seeing a different vet or rescheduling. I saw a different vet and was very pleased. They bend over backwards to help their customers, furry and human. Some people are never satisfied no matter how well treated they are. It is a busy office especially now with Covid-19, and they are higher than some of the other vets in the area, but you get what you pay for. read more

The staff here is great. My first visit was with my 18 year old cat Sasha it was a very sad visit. Another vet told me he had a bad tooth but after medicine wasn't working I brought him here. Unfortunately it wasn't a bad tooth and I had to put him down. They were so good with him they even brought him some whipped cream with sprinkles to give him a last treat. The staff was so caring and made the experience the best it could be for what it was. I now take my French bulldog puppy and they are great with her. Brought my Australian Shepherd in for a checkup and vaccines and they were awesome with him as well. This is definitely the place to take your fur babies from the receptionist to the vet tech to the vet they are all caring and treat everybody and every animal as best as they can. read more

I wouldn't take my worst enemy here. I have 2 dogs. 1 is a small bichon mix. The other is a Bernedoodle. The vet part is ok. The grooming section is a train wreck and the women are absolutely rude. I have taken my bernedoodle there for a year now. I have had 1 cut that came out the way I ask. They do what they want and how they want without consulting the owner at all. They just shaved my dog, literally to the skin. I specifically ask them not to!! Do not! Dont it his hair short much less shave it literally to the skin. No one called me. No one said a word. I gave the lady at the front specific instructions and I had to take my husband this time to have a witness because they never do what I ask. What was done? What I specifically ask them NOT to do!!!! Linda and Mia or Mina acts like you are a idiot and know nothing about your animal. I Would never ever recommend anyone take their pets here. Ever!!!!! My bichon is now puking and constantly digging at his skin. i just picked these two animals up last night. So now that I called the grooming department back to ask questions about my animals Mia or Mina is telling me Linda told her this and that. I said no absolutely not and my husband was there. And as she was talking to me like I was a idiot she wouldn't quit talking over me to let me explain anything or ask questions. Once I started asking her who groomed the bichon and what they used on him because I was having To find a different vet to take him to due to the throwing up and constant misery he was in from scratching since he left, she told me she groomed him and got Defensive. Before she would answer anything I ask her she hung up on me. Because I told her I wouldn't be back there. So now I'm left with a bald dog in winter And one that is sick with no answers to what was used on him and having to find a new vet to take him to, with no info to give them to go on. The lack of concern they had for my dog that had a 2 1/2 inch laceration (actively bleeding in their floor), I was told they were overbooked. Went to this emergency clinic after having the police call prior to confirm we could be seen immediately for a dog who needed immediate attention and walked in to find out their vet was on a lunch break. Apparently eating their lunch was more important that treating a incredibly sick puppy. Told us we'd have to wait an hour so instead we went to the airport emergency animal hospital in Bristol and LOVED that place. read more

Due to construction, I called to check in. A friendly technician met me and my dog, Hannah, at my car in less than five minutes to take us inside. Since Hannah was new to the clinic, I had to fill out paperwork, but it was just TWO pages! The technician checked Hannah's weight and vitals. Dr. Lewis came into the room shortly after Hannah returned. She was also very friendly. She sat on the floor with Hannah for the duration of the examination while asking me about her symptoms. Dr. Lewis diagnosed Hannah with kennel cough and stepped out for a couple of minutes to get the prescriptions. She explained how to give Hannah the medicine in detail and tricks to get her to take them. Within 15 minutes of arriving, we were on our way home. They scheduled a follow-up appointment for two weeks later. A week later, a cheerful staff member called to check on Hannah. Great follow-up! At her two-week follow-up appointment, Hannah was given the all-clear. Again, the staff was super friendly and several of them played with Hannah. You would think the staff had never seen a dog before. read more

I made an appointment my first time and it took a while for them to get to me... I think that may be because they take in emergencies sometimes. More importantly, these people are always friendly and address any concerns you have. Their kennel is awesome too. The first time I left my dogs there, I think the kennel supervisor could tell I was a little nervous. She assured me they would be fine and even told me to call and check in on them whenever I wanted. LOL. They treat my dogs well and are groomed to perfection. Boarding is also much cheaper ($16 for small dog, $18 for large) than in DC (where they can charge up to $45 per dog per day). All around, a great place! read more

Viewing the website I was very excited about taking my pet to VCA Highlands Animal Hospital. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment, the receptionist instructed me that I did not. I was not greeted in a way that I expected. People were busy behind the counter, I waited almost 5 minuets before being helped. I called ahead because I thought my dog may be pregnant and because she has an injured leg. They instructed me to come in. Once arriving I was told the only doctor on site could not perform an ultra sound and she recommended me to come back at a later date to speak with an orthopedic veterinarian. I was charged $50 for the exam fee when I was not given a diagnosis and the issues I came there to be treated were not addressed. I discussed this with the "Director of Medical Affairs" (I believe that was his title). I asked for a compensation with the exam fee. He argued that an exam was preformed, therefore I should not be refunded any of my money. It's infuriating to see here on line that first time customers are eligible for a free exam. This was my first time at VCA Highlands Animal Hospital. Due to the lack of knowledge and understanding it will be my last time at that clinic. read more

I showed them the email confirming my appointment and get told there was nothing they could do for another hour. I don't have an extra hour to wait around the vet office hoping they could fit me in. Clean, safe, experienced. All our pets go here. We tried a less expensive vet, but wound up taking them back to VCA, which is slightly pricey, but we find worth it (even with 12 cats). The only drawback is they close overnight, so very sick pets have to be transported elsewhere. If they were open 24/7 to treat emergencies, they'd be completely perfect. read more

Went for the first time. Staff was very nice and answered all my questions. A very tall and super nice man gave me a tour of the kennel area. He took time answer all my questions and really made fill at ease about leaving my pet with them. My only complaint was that the lobby was very hot and stuffy. read more

After reading all the glowing reviews on your site, I have to say that my first and last experience with VCA Highlands was completely opposite. My ferret (her name was Jezebel, not that anyone bothered to ask) developed a severe bladder infection which spiked her blood sugar through the roof and we had to rush her out to find help. We stopped at 3 vet's along the way and were told by all of them to go to the specialist's at Highlands. While we were at Lee Highway Animal Hospital, Dr. Gent called Dr. Robinson (on her day off) she tried to help over the phone and told Dr. Gent for us to go immediately to Highlands and that someone there would help us and that they would do a urine sample and give Jezebel the insulin she needed to stop the convulsions and get her out of crisis mode. Unfortunately, Dr. Robinson had way too much faith in her co-workers since none of them are apparently qualified to do a urine sample or administer a shot of insulin. I have never been treated in the manner in which we were treated on Friday. We arrived at Highlands and the woman at the reception desk, who by the way was lacking in even the most basic of human traits such as kindness, caring or compassion, told us that it was "a matter of availability" and that no one could help us. I found this statement odd since one of the vet's (the administrator) was standing in his doorway sipping his coffee and listening to the conversation. Apparently they take their coffee breaks very seriously at HIghlands because he never offered to help us. Anyway, the soul-less receptionist then suggested that we take Jezebel to Virginia Tech, I told her Jezebel would not last long enough to get there and she then told me that she had an opening the next day at 11:45. My response to her was "if she won't make it to VT, how the Hell will she make it until in the morning. What she said next was priceless...she said "do you want the appointment or not?" We ended up going back to Dr. Gent, he pulled a urine sample and she finally got a shot of insulin...it came to late, Jezebel took her last breath a couple of hundred feet short of my driveway. I guess her tiny little body finally just gave up. None of you people knew Jezebel, to you she was just a thing in a box. No one there even bothered to look at her or ask her name. Let me tell you a little about Jez, she was a sweet, funny little girl who never met a stranger, she loved toys and her big furry alligator shaped bed, she liked cheerios and canned whipped cream and me. Jezebel would have been 5 on March 13, 2016 but thanks to your lack of compassion, she will not see her birthday. I'm only sharing my experience in hopes of saving someone else the heartbreak and feelings of helplessness that I have endured. I intend to post Jezebel's story on every animal site and forum that I can find. read more
