If you want cheap pet insurance options to cover vaccines, then go to Banfield. If you care about your pet receiving quality health care and having techs that actually care about your pet's wellbeing, go elsewhere. My 8 month old puppy got incredibly sick and Banfield sent us home, saying he was fine. Within hours he was in the emergency hospital receiving treatment for something that Banfield dismissed as "nothing." In another instance, we took him in to get his nails done. I could hear him screaming and the vet tech told me she put a muzzle on him to do his nails, despite him being a puppy that has never bit anyone, including the vet staff. When I went to a different vet clinic in Keller (Keller Animal Hospital - HIGHLY recommend!), they told me he was wonderful, sweet, and couldn't imagine why anyone would ever put a muzzle on a young pet, as it is traumatizing and can ruin the nail experience for the rest of their life. I have no positive things to say about Banfield. The price is what you get - cheap prices for terrible health care. If you care about your pet, take them somewhere else. read more

Once again, this Banfield hospital exceeded my expectations. I dropped my dog off at 9:45 AM on a Sunday for a comprehensive exam, and I was able to get a call back at 11:30 AM the same morning with the results. Wow! I had budgeted at least 4-5 hours, which is what my prior Banfield hospital out of state would have taken. This summer has already been an exceptionally bad flea season in Texas, particularly due to the unprecedented rain fall that has been soaking the DFW area. Banfield understood this and was able to get an appointment for my dog a day prior, which I was quite surprised in. Being that my dog is on the wellness plan, I had previously purchased a 6-month supply of First Shield at a reduced rate. However, this influx of fleas and ticks required something stronger, so I had to up his medication to that of a Benadryl mix that was just short of ultimately getting Trifexis, which will have to be the next step. With a shampoo and conditioner to help remedy my dog's itching, the total bill came to $51. Not only that, I greatly appreciated the attention given to not just the dog by both the receptionist and doctor, but also to how the additional specialist was able to explain the medications as well as cost breakdowns to me without fear of rushing through the interaction over the telephone. Further, the follow up call the next morning with concern to my dog was well appreciated. This Banfield location is certainly a good one in Watauga! read more

We've been coming to this location for more than 13 years. We have two dogs that came here their entire lives. Sadly, one just passed away due to lymphoma. The staff has provided very excellent medical care for our dogs all these years. We've been grateful for the reliable and compassionate care. The doctors and staff always take time to thoroughly explain their findings with every visit. They have also coordinated with specialists to treat our pups' special needs. We use the optimum wellness plans because it's a great way to make sure we can cover their preventive care and we get discounts on extra services and medication. Banfield has been good to us. Arrogant staff. Will argue with you about whether your animals is intact without even checking. Terrible communication. My dog had a partial blockage and nothing was done. They say they will call you back the following day with results and don't. Will charge you large sums of money and do nothing. This isn't a veterinarians office, it's "preventative" care to charge you $70 a month for unknown answers. Find a real vet office that has skilled and trained staff. They took very good care of my parents cat (well, technically he's theirs and a little mine-but he's on my account) when he fell ill yesterday with kidney failure. Although the bloodwork and IV fluid therapy was quite expensive compared to other vets in the area, I understand it was thoroughly needed due to his state of health. We appreciated the availability to get our sick member of the family in, the kind and compassionate care showed by Dr. Young and the understanding of at home care but we will be receiving follow up blood work and services from a private vet I work for. This is why I am familiar with prices in area. Not coming back is not a reflection on the team as they were wonderful but just a personal decision. I am glad at least one Banfield in the area does not have a bunch of random bafoons employed by the company as I have seen so many, many others have. I am always wary of Banfields due to their corporate mind set and inability to hire/keep well trained and professional staff but rest assured (for the time being- as Banfield has a reputation for staff over turn) that this one has quality medical care. I will say, I didn't receive a follow up call to check on him -- I know it is routine. So, that would have been nice. And he is doing much better for now. First let me start with I wish I could give negative stars for these folks. Their incompetence knows no bounds... If you are making a choice on whether to see them or not.. choose not and go somewhere else. They failed to diagnose my dog and now he has passed. The vet we went to was appalled that they were unable to diagnose him properly and potentially save his life.. I wish I could remember the name of the doctor... I have it somewhere. Now I have always been a huge supporter of responsible animal care...and usually see our personal veterinarian. However, when the tires need replacing, the girls need winter clothes, and the dance recital costume payments are due...it time for a few cut backs. So after calling our regular vet, and hearing the news( $375 for a doggie dental and required shots prior to dental) I knew I had to look elsewhere. So we called Banfield...which are located in most Petsmarts. Banfield only required current rabies, which we had, and an exam...we were good to go. Fresh white teeth, great breath and only $180 out of my pocket...our Dixie Dog has a whole new out look on life. Or maybe I just enjoy being close to her again..she smells clean!!! Too bad you can't give listerine to dogs! Over all it was a great experience. Friendly and attentive. We received a call after the procedure to tell us Dixie was coming out of anesthesia with no problems. When we picked up Dixie, my 14 yr old daughter, who loves to talk, asked the vet all about first jobs in the field. Dr. Priebe answered all her questions and added advice with the patience of a saint! Will go back for regular care...not to mention...goodies for Dixie after us torturing her. Lol. At least her breath smells good...for 6 more moths or so. read more

So my baby Panda has been coughing for the past 4 days and I called banfield today and spoke to Nikki (who was very kind and professional) and I asked if there was any way she could fit Panda in today since I been really worried about this cough. She did tell me that she was double booked all day today and that she can fit me in today at 4! I was extremely grateful for that! I showed up around 3:55 and Nikki brought Panda in RIGHT AWAY! NO WAIT WHATSOEVER! The vet came in and did Panda's routine check up. and figured she was just down with a little cold! Wished I remembered the name of the Vet! But definitely would be coming back! I've been bringing my 4 year old Pit Bull to this location for about 7 months now. Although the service has always been excellent, I was a little nervous about her teeth cleaning appointment after reading some anesthesia horror stories online. The veterinarian called two hours after I dropped her off saying my dog's pre-op test results were slightly abnormal and they wanted to postpone the cleaning...which was actually a relief! My worst fear was losing my furry best friend during a routine dental cleaning! The veterinarian was very informative and caring. She took plenty of time to explain all of her concerns and thoroughly answer all of my questions over the phone. I greatly appreciate that she properly examined my dog and caught the red flags before putting my dog under anesthesia. We are now in the process of addressing those red flags. UPDATE: Sadly my fur baby passed away, but I want to thank Banfield and Dr. Davaloz for everything they did. They always treated my baby and I so kindly. Although it's just "that vet inside Petsmart", it's obvious that the veterinarians are passionate, knowledgeable, and caring. read more

Dr. Tiffany Cox, DVM is the best!! I'm so happy that she is now at this location. She is so caring and friendly toward my bulldog and me, and even sits down on the floor to say hi to him and do his exam. He gets very anxious and pants a lot at the vet, so she always sets out a bowl of water for him. The front desk woman is also super friendly and helpful! read more

Dr. Ecklund is an great doctor. He's empathetic and caring towards pets. He was able to treat a serious illness within a short time. My dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis upon admission to Banfield. He acted immediately to inform me and begin treatment asap. He seems to have prescribed the proper medications with great consideration to the furry little baby's comfort. I have to say I was panicking and I could tell the staff were annoyed with me. She had the best possible plan/insurance through Banfield, however the cost of treatment accumulated quickly. I would've given 5 stars if it weren't for the office manager's approach to customer service/manners in medical circumstances. Dr. Ecklund unarguably has excellent diagnostic and treatment skills. It's evident he loves and cares for the wellbeing of the animals and clients. read more

We were normally customers of Banfield in Euless, TX (we are on the insurance plan) but our little dog was having breathing problems and they wouldn't see him for over a week. Luckily, the Watauga location was kind enough to squeeze us in with only a few hours notice. They saw us very quickly, were very gentle with our dog, and they discussed the options for diagnosis / treatment without being pushy or trying to get us to do anything we wanted. In particular, Dr. Whaba was very gentle and friendly and was one of the better veterinarians we have enountered. A great place to take your pet. read more

I have seen many vets over the years. I have finally found one that is the best in my eyes. He works at this location, Banfield in Watauga. His name is Dr. Melad Khaflaf Matta Whaba. He has always showed genuine caring for my beloved pet dog, Sasha. He goes above and beyond and so do the rest of the staff. Recently, my dog needed a tumor removed and I later found out that it was a bad, cancerous tumor. He worked with me in a way that I can save money for the surgery. When I tried to do his game plan at the Hurst location, the vet over there wanted to do the treatment in a way that I would be charged another $600 unnecessarily. Because of the Hurst location, I had to wait another year to receive treatment only because they didn't want to do 2 different treatments in one anesthesia visit. Anesthesia is expensive!! Anyway, I don't recommend the Hurst location to anyone. If you are looking for a veterinarian that is very patient, answers all your questions in full detail, and caring to your pet, look no further! My 2 year old male Yorkie got into a fire ant mound in our backyard. Immediately, he started having a reaction and we had just moved to the Watauga area from Hurst. We had normally used the Banfield clinic at N.E. Mall area, but with this emergency we drove straight to the Banfield on 377 in Watauga, which is 5 minutese from our house. Immediately, Dr. Priebe grabbed up my Yorkie and ran to the back and started working on him. When we arrived at Banfield, his blood pressure was very faint. Dr. Priebe brought my baby back to life and she stated another 5 minutes and he would have passed away. Dr. Priebe is a wonderful vet and is very caring and a God's blessing. After she kept my Yorkie at her clinic for the rest of the afternoon until her clinic closed and then she had him transferred to the Alliance Urgent Care Banfield Clinic for the rest of the evening to be monitored and additional fluids given. When I came back to pick him up at 10:00pm, she came out of the back and actually came over to check on him and was waiting on me to come and pick him up. I can't say enough about Dr. Priebe !!! We will definitely be moving our care for both of our Yorkies to Dr. Priebe. read more
