I'm so thankful to this hospital and the way they treated my sweet Lilly even though it was 2 o'clock in the morning they acted fast and with such love and care like they already knew her even though it wasn't the outcome I was hoping for they gave us time with her in a private room and when the time came, the treated her with such compassion and love and after she cross the rainbow bridge they still give us more time with her.. Thank you so much for being part of one of the hardest times for me and my family I Absolutely recommend this hospital for your baby's emergency visits Thank you again The Gutierrez family

Caring. Compassionate. Kind. Actually watched the team in action with another family's pet, so I would add the word amazing as well. While were in the midst of saying goodbye to our old pup, we witnessed them save the life of a young one. Every staff member we interacted with was patient and understanding. Glad we chose to say goodbye to our sweet old man with this team. Highly recommend. RIP Koda Bear, you were a blessing and the bestest boy.

My dog Phoenix tore her paw down to the tendon somehow. We were greeted at the door and got her signed in. Everything was well-explained to us and we were able to watch the actual procedure. The staff was friendly and professional and we were able to take Phoenix home in about 2 hours. She now proudly wears the "Cone of Shame"!

I had called this vet clinic in worry for my puppy and instead of telling me to come in for a visit Dr. Hayley Wehrfritz was amazing and took the call to give me advice! It was around 11 and the advice she gave me worked! I am so happy for this vet and recommend her to anyone with a pet! Most vets are in it just for the money and always tell you to come in or they can't help so having her who truly cares about animals is such a relief! Thank you Dr. Hayley!

They took one look at him and knew he was bad off. They immediately took my baby and rushed him to the back and begin working on him. They gave us things to remember our baby boy King that I will cherish forever. This hospital will always hold a special place in my heart. This is a place that I would love to work at and be proud to say that I worked there because each and every person who works in that building are Gods angels, and truly care about the animals that they treat. I will always be grateful. I know this was God's plan because it all went perfectly. Yes, I left without a dog, but I now have a new family that I would cherish with my other pets. Thank you again to each and every one of the staff who comfort my family, who gave my comforting hugs and who helped my King. Ultimately, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Indy a little too soon. Let me tell you about the staff here at VCA. I've had dogs and cats my entire life and I've NEVER had a vet care so deeply about my pets. The doctor would text periodically to check in on us, which is so unheard of. When we were going through this emergency and when we decided to let him go, we were shown such great care and compassion I'll forever be grateful to them. They went above and beyond to make us feel comforted and gave us all of the time that we needed to grieve. Every doctor we've seen was fantastic, but I'm glad we had Dr. Modoro as we said goodbye. She was so amazing, as were the techs working alongside her. Thank you so much VCA for all that you did for us. We will forever be grateful for your kindness and care.

I've had some good experiences here, and it's the…read moreonly animal hospital open 24 hours, so if your pet has an emergency at 1:00 AM, you pretty much have no choice but to go here. The pricing here, however, is outrageous. If you have to hospitalize your pet, I've been quoted pretty consistently around $3,000-$3,500 per night, including monitoring and treatment. They almost always recommend a multi-night stay, so it's not uncommon to receive a quote of $10,000 or more for care. I make decent money, and that's more than a month's pay for me. It would take several months to recover financially from that. For anyone making nowhere near a $200,000 salary, that's most likely out of reach. They also want everything paid up front, as if you just have $8,000-$10,000 sitting in your wallet or bank account. Basic meds will almost always run you $80-$200 per prescription depending on what you need, but I've never made it out of VCA for less than $200. Actual care is hit or miss. I've had amazing experiences with some rock-star vets who didn't stay there long, and I've also had really bad experiences with vets who don't listen and seem to over-prescribe medication. Most fall somewhere in the middle. The vets are "fine," but most are nothing special, just run-of-the-mill vets you could find at any standard local clinic. For the prices they charge here, I'd expect more. The hospital itself isn't terrible per se, but with how expensive the care is, many people will simply have to put their animal down because there's no way most average or lower-income Americans have $10,000 sitting around waiting for a vet emergency. You may have to drive outside the city, but there are much more reasonably priced vets around the Metroplex. The only time I'd really recommend going here is if your pet needs emergency service between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM, since you may not have another option.

In a stressful situation, their calm and caring approach made all the difference. Dr. Laura Watson was absolutely phenomenal. Her compassion and kindness truly stood out. I honestly wish human healthcare providers and physicians were as compassionate and kind as the team at this clinic. VEG is truly a one-stop shop -- assessment, imaging, labs, and even boarding if your fur baby requires continued monitoring. That level of comprehensive care provides such peace of mind. Parking is conveniently located right in front, which is so helpful during an emergency. They also offer multiple affordable payment options, which makes high-quality care accessible and less overwhelming. If your pet ever needs emergency care, this is the place you want to be. Her regular vet wouldn't be in until that afternoon, and I wasn't going to wait at her expense. They recommended Mid-cities, and I'm happy they did; they are exceptional. Upon arriving and after checking in, we waited for several minutes, then were taken back to our room. When meeting Dr. Renegar, we went over Penny's symptoms, and her treatment journey started. After her labs and X-ray, we found something was going on with her kidney. That's when it was suggested we do a US (ultrasound); unfortunately, her kidney was very sick. We came up with a treatment plan, and Penny stayed to get fluids and pain medication until Dr. Hurd was able to review her records. Once that was done, Dr. Hurd reached out to me, and we spoke about the condition of the kidney and surgery. Unfortunately, Penny had (after pathology confirmed) a stone that caused inflammation and eventually burst. What I appreciate about Dr. Hurd, she went over three different things it could have been, and that was one of them. She wanted to save the kidney, but after seeing it, that wasn't an option. I couldn't handle this issue with all emotions; I had to think clearly and logically. Dr. Hurd has been (Penny's care is still ongoing) so kind through this all. Empathetic, caring, sensitive to Penny's needs, etc. If she had her own practice, we would be there. Penny is recovering and doing very well. She has one more visit to remove her stitches and for labs. I highly recommend them if your sweet baby needs to be seen after-hours, or if your regular vet isn't available. Customer Service: The ladies up front are exceptional. As someone with a background in UC/Emergency Medicine, I can say these ladies do a very good job. They're dealing with humans AND their pets; combine those two, and you never know what you're going to get. Then, dealing with the financial part of emergency vet care, oohweee. As you're waiting in your room, they stop by in intervals to check on you. They offer beverages (hot and cold), blankets (it's cold in there), and you have a ROKU in your room while you wait. *NOTE: If you're going in the later hours (after 7), call to make sure they're still seeing patients; depending on the patient volume, they may be at capacity for the remainder of the evening. Keep in mind, they're an ER for our babies (fur), please show them grace.

My dog was experiencing a serious medical emergency, including vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and visible signs of distress. Before making the drive, I called ahead and was told that we could come in and that my dog could be seen. After driving nearly 50 minutes with a very sick animal, we arrived only to be told that they had decided not to take any more patients. At no point during our drive were we contacted or informed that their availability had changed. Instead, we were turned away at the door while dealing with an urgent and frightening situation. I understand that veterinary clinics can become overwhelmed and that emergencies happen. However, confirming that a critically ill pet can be seen and then refusing care upon arrival is unacceptable. Every minute matters during a medical emergency, and the time we lost making this trip could have been spent seeking treatment elsewhere. What made the situation even more upsetting was the complete lack of empathy shown for both my pet and my family. We were scared, stressed, and desperately trying to get help, only to be met with a decision that should have been communicated before we drove almost an hour to the clinic. I would strongly encourage this clinic to improve its communication practices and patient intake procedures. Pet owners rely on the information they are given, especially during emergencies. No family should have to experience the frustration, stress, and delay in care that we did.

As someone who works here, I already knew how talented and compassionate this team is--but having my own dog become the patient gave me an entirely new perspective and an even deeper appreciation for the incredible people I am fortunate enough to work alongside. My 11-year-old dog was found to have multiple large masses during his examination and ultrasound, and we knew surgery was going to be necessary. He has already fought through diabetes for the past two years and has been doing remarkably well, so naturally, the thought of another major surgery was incredibly frightening. Dr. Christiansen, our oncologist, took the time to walk me through the possibilities and help me understand what our options might be depending on what the masses ultimately showed on histopathplogy and during surgery. Her knowledge, compassion, and willingness to explain everything gave me confidence during a very uncertain and emotional time. Dr. Thompson was the surgeon who performed his surgery, and I will forever be grateful to her. She gave me strength and reassurance when I needed it most. In surgery I was able to assist with my own dog's procedure. Watching her skillfully and carefully perform his surgery was an experience I will never forget. The outcome was extremely positive, and I am so thankful that my best little friend has the opportunity to continue being part of our family for many more years. I also want to recognize Allyson and Haven, the surgery technicians, for the incredible care and kindness they showed him throughout the entire process. Every single person treated him with the same tenderness, compassion, patience, and empathy they would give to any beloved family pet. Even though I am an employee, they never made me feel like he was being treated differently because he was "one of our own." He was simply treated as a cherished patient--and that meant everything to me. The timing made everything even more difficult. We discovered the masses just 48 hours before I was scheduled to leave the country for a veterinary conference in Croatia. Rather than rushing into decisions, Dr. Thompson, Dr. Christiansen, Allyson, Haven, and the team helped develop a conservative and thoughtful plan that allowed me to travel while knowing we could move forward with surgery when I returned. While I was abroad, they even checked in with me and kept me updated, which provided so much comfort while I was thousands of miles away. Now that I am back home in Texas and seeing my dog doing so well, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you to Dr. Thompson, Dr. Christiansen, Allyson, Haven, and everyone at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists of Mansfield for taking care of my boy, for taking care of me, and for giving us more precious time together. Your expertise is extraordinary, but it is your compassion, kindness, empathy, and genuine love for your patients that I will remember most. Unfortunately, there is not an option for 0 stars!…read more I brought my dog to this clinic because his neck had become severely swollen and infected overnight. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed convinced it was cancer simply because he had a history of cancer as a puppy. Without pursuing other likely causes, I was told there was essentially nothing they could do. Even the oncologist on site agreed with that assessment. I asked if it could possibly be something else, such as a bite or infection, because that's what it looked like to me. That possibility was dismissed. I was told surgery was an option but not guaranteed and would have to be done by a different doctor and would cost thousands of dollars. They also told me his blood work suggested kidney failure and implied he only had about six months to live regardless. The impression I left with was that my options were to keep him comfortable until the end or consider euthanasia. Thankfully, I trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion with Alvarado Animal Clinic. They immediately believed it looked like a bite or abscess. They drained it, put in a drain tube and packed the wound, and within a month it had completely healed. They also found no evidence that my dog was in kidney failure. Today he is healthy, happy, and doing great. I understand that medicine isn't always black and white, but I was disappointed that such serious conclusions were reached without fully exploring other, treatable possibilities. If I had accepted the original diagnosis without seeking another opinion, the outcome for my dog could have been heartbreaking. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic. I strongly encourage anyone facing a serious diagnosis to seek a second opinion before making life-changing decisions.

But while I stood there, barely holding myself together, I could hear and see three staff members in the back laughing loudly and carrying on, who had clearly seen me. I waited in silence for ten long minutes before one of them finally shouted from the back room, asking, "Do you need something?" I was in pieces. I wasn't about to yell across rooms for my pet's ashes. Eventually, one woman came out. She looked annoyed, rolled her eyes, handed me a small bag, and turned around and walked away. No words. No eye contact. No compassion. Just... ouch. That moment hurt. It still hurts. After everything, that final goodbye felt cold, rushed, and disrespectful. I understand people have off days, but this wasn't a moment for carelessness. I hope this feedback is taken to heart, because grieving pet parents deserve tenderness and dignity from beginning to end.
