Had to bring my bulldog in around 1am, and I can't say enough good things about VEG Emergency Vet in Mt. Pleasant. From the moment we walked in, it felt like a top-of-the-line emergency room--clean, calm, and incredibly well-run. The entire team was professional, compassionate, and efficient. They saw us quickly, kept me informed every step of the way, and treated my bulldog like one of their own. Even at that late hour, the staff was fully alert, attentive, and reassuring, which meant the world in such a stressful moment. You never want to need an emergency vet, but if you do, this is exactly where you hope to end up. Absolutely five-star care.

I'll keep this quick, staff was amazing and great help, everything except for one set of results were super quick ( they were performing surgery on a dog already), they addressed the problem super fast and helped me over the phone, it is expensive but they have plans to help out like affirm. Amazing emergency vet!

This poor guy passed away almost 24 hours after his visit.

The staff was kind, but I was disappointed that I wasn't informed beforehand that they had limited experience with guinea pigs. We brought our little guy in because he was whimpering while breathing and had diarrhea. They performed an ultrasound, found fluid around his organs but couldn't determine the cause, and conducted a fecal test that ruled out parasites. They prescribed antibiotics and nutrient food but told me that guinea pigs weren't their specialty and advised me to follow up with an exotic vet as soon as possible. Sadly, our guinea pig passed away 24 hours later. When we took him to the exotic vet the next day, they were unable to obtain records from this emergency clinic, even after requesting them. The visit cost us $410, and I wish we had known earlier to go straight to a specialist.

Cannot recommend VEG enough!! So, so grateful to have them so close by. They saw my dog very quickly when I brought her in. It's an open floor plan, so I got to sit with my dog the entire time. We ended up having to go two nights in a row and both times were great (although I hope to never have to use them again lol!!) The staff loved my dog and made us feel very comfortable.

I have a few things to say and ALL GREAT!…read more I want to start with the fact that my sweet Tank was diagnosed with epilepsy wayyyy earlier than most. Tank had started experiencing seizures at 1yr. He had been in and out of emergency visits with horrible seizures (up to 10min duration) every month sometimes 2x a month while we lived in GA. We recently moved to SC and heard about CVRCs Neurology department. After one visit, they were able to prescribe him a new medication. He has now been seizure free for going on 4 months!!! The longest he's gone since turning a year old, now 3 years old. Additionally, since July 4th, Tank has had horrible gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, runny stool, reluctant to eat and drink fluids), making us very nervous about his already sensitive situation. Anytime Tank has an emergency, CVRC is the first place I call. I took him in this morning, they were able to get him in, take extra care of the situation knowing his history, and I'm happy to say, I'm going to pick up my sweet boy here shortly. Dr. Panek is one of the most compassionate and empathetic DRs that we have had the pleasure of meeting. She not only understood what was happening but empathized with us and did what she could to make us and Tank more comfortable. I am so beyond thankful for this facility and the individuals working there. From the front desk, to the techs, to the doctors. They are all animal lovers, and the moment you walk in the door, you can feel it. Tatum at the front desk is another individual I would give a gold star to if I could. Always cool, calm, and collected both over the phone and in person. Made us feel like we could take a breath as soon as we got him in. I CANNOT recommend CVRC enough, ESPECIALLY for the sweet babies with special cases. **There are many, many more faculty members I would love to spotlight but unfortunately do not have names as of now. ALL amazing individuals***

I would like to share our experience in hopes that it may help other pet owers make decisions…read morebefore going to BluePearl. Our fur baby was in a freak accident and had her left rear leg ran over on a Monday evening. Living in Round O, BluePearl in Summerville was the closest. Her leg is bleeding and my son had wrapped her leg up with a towel and met me there. They took her straight to the back while we waited up front. Finally they called us to a back room to talk with us, at this point they have her hooked up to an IV with pain meds. She is comfortable and they need to do a X-ray, ultrasound and bloodwork. We go back up front and pay $1,966.00 and hear the front desk lady radio to the back that "Nala has been paid and can go ahead with the X-ray and ultrasound." My son is already having a breakdown and to hear that.... that just sends it even further. I'm pissed because we have already been here an hour and nobody has done nothing until payment was collected. About an hour later they call us back to the back room, nothing is broken, just a fractured toe. But how our driveway is with the gravel, it mangled her skin pretty bad. I still have not seen her or the wound yet. They recommend her staying the night in case of internal swelling. So right off the ripe my son begged her to stay because he did not want anything to happen to her. Then we spoke about treatment...... wound care. They recommended wound care treatment because her leg was not broken. And it would be a 4-6 week process and a cost of $5,000.00 That was a hard pill to swallow and with my husband on nightshift, I needed to consult with him before making that decision. I told the lady we will pay for her to stay overnight but I cannot pay for the wound care without speaking to my husband first. She said - word for word - if you do not pay for wound care, we will NOT be able to change her dressing. Fumes is coming through my ears at this point. So we go back up front pay $1,041.00 for her to stay overnight and my gut is tell me to take her home. Tuesday morning, spoke to my husband and he said no, we need a second opinion and to take her to her vet. 7:30am I get a phone call from BluePearl asking if I have made a decision. I told the lady we cannot afford that and I'm on my way to pick her up. I get there and instantly was taken to the back where another young lady comes in with another bill for wound care.... $2,756. They have reduced the price. I told her I cannot pay that and I want my baby back and I'm taking her to her vet. I'm sure she understood the words my face was giving. Got to her vet and was immediately seen. Her doctor started to cut the bandage off and it was the original bandage they put on at 11pm the night before..... because we did not pay the $5,000 wound care bill. Be prepared to fork out money, if they offer you a price.... it's negotiable, just say you cannot afford it. I felt they were about the money and not the quality of our fur babies. Her vet said it would take more than 4-6 weeks of wound care, it would be months and months and possible infections along the way. Dogs don't live as long as us and it would be the quality of life lost dealing with wound care. She is now Post-Op 19 days and is thriving!

DO NOT take your dog to this veterinarian if your dog is a specialized breed. I am so heartbroken,…read moreand writing this brings it all back, but I feel a responsibility to warn dog owners so that this same situation does not happen to you. I drove to this hospital with my English bulldog, who was having trouble breathing, and trusted them to give her the care she needed. After running tests and bloodwork, they released her in the same condition she entered the hospital that morning. $1900.00 and 5 hours later, my beloved bulldog was dead. By the time I got her to my regular vet, she was too far gone. NOT ONCE did the vet mention her esophagus. Not once mentioned checking it, not once mentioned that it could be something with her esophagus, not once brought up any esophageal issues that plague bulldogs, much less paralysis. The vet tried to claim it was Cushing's disease, which has nothing to do with breathing issues, I later learned. I was promised an itemized invoice at checkout. I was told I would be emailed it. I contacted the hospital, but there is still no email. I followed up with an email on their website, explained that my dog was now dead, and still NOT ONE call or email. If you have a specialized breed, stay away. DO NOT use this hospital. I rushed there as they were the closest to my home. I entrusted them with my baby, who was clearly in distress. She is now dead, we are heartbroken, and it all could have been avoided.
