This family owned business always has friendly staff. I met Shelle today, and I usually see the older gentleman who has always been very hospitable to me. These are my favorite gummy bears ever. Love coming here whenever I'm in Vegas. Especially when I've moved from Hawaii Nei to Texas for several years now, it brings back some goodies that I've missed so much. There are a lot of goodies to choose from, but I love their beef jerky and the assorted chocolate gummy bears the most. Overall, pretty expensive for this local boy, but worth grabbing when in Vegas and craving for these snacks. Staff are very friendly and nice. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there's a shop like this in the California Hotel which is located just a stones throw from Fremont Street. So many Hawaii folks flock to this hotel so it's pretty fitting that this is here. Haha. I wouldn't have known about this place though if it wasn't for my aunty who apparently purchases their beef jerky all the time as pasalubong/omiyage for family in Hawaii. Kind of backwards I think, but if it's good, it's good I guess! Anywho, Vegas 808 is located on the 2nd floor of the California hotel right next to other shops that would make any Hawaii local feel kind of 'at home' so to speak. It's a small shop, but it's packed full with similar goodies you'd find in crack seed stores in Hawaii like various gummy candies covered in li hing mui powder, ume/lychee/pineapple chewy candy, rock salt plum, etc. There were other treats too that I don't think are as common like kiwi slices, rainer cherries, li hing mui mango sour belts, rainbow twists, etc. After reading a few of the reviews, I kind of wish I did get a pack of the beef jerky just to see what it's all about. Maybe next time. I did walk away with a big bag of white chocolate gummy bears though! I don't see it very often in stores and I'll buy it any chance I get. A bag did set me back $9, but that seems pretty standard for chocolate covered gummy bears! It was big enough to where I couldn't finish it all in one sitting and I was able to enjoy it over the course of a few days. They also have beef jerky nuggets which I'm not particularly a fan of because it's kind of on the wet side and not as dry as traditional beef jerky. The store is convenient if you're staying downtown LV as it's located on the second floor of The California Hotel & Casino. Although they have a wide variety of snacks, I don't plan on shopping there regularly when I'm in town as I found myself automatically comparing it to Wholesale Unlimited, which is a local store in Hawaii that carries all of these snacks and even more. Wholesale Unlimited is a Vegas 808 on steroids. We recently spent $200plus dollars at the store and had these purchased items shipped to our home. One of the two boxes arrived open and damaged and clearly items were missing. The Postmaster advised we need to contact the person who sent to us and they can file a claim in our behalf. We have tried for the past two weeks to reach the store Owner, Mr Shirai, but he does not return calls yet. We love shopping at this store and spend $$$ each visit to Vegas. We also recommended this store to friends and family. However, there's a communication issue at present which we need immediate resolution. HELP YELP! read more

Stepping into the store feels a little bit like you are in Hawaii. The store is located inside Hotel California in Fremont (not in the actual strip it is away if you have never been in the Fremont area). They specialize in Hawaiian type candy, beef jerky, peanuts, and sausages. All the items are packed neatly in clear bags which is nice so you can see what you are buying. Many of the snacks are the same size bags but not the same quantity. On some of the bags I bought the candy bags had more compared to the peanuts and not much difference in the price. The candy and peanuts have longer shelf life than the beef jerky and sausages. Once you open the meat products use it right away as it goes flat after a couple days. All the prices are listed in front of the items which is great as you do not need to keep asking the workers for assistance. Not all items are affordable especially the smaller bags with the quantity count less and lighter. In one visit you can easily spend around $50 if you get a few items from each section. After having a few visits here I only buy items that I can only find here, the common peanuts and candy flavors I would buy somewhere else at half the price. Some products I have seen in the past they do not carry anymore maybe when it is not popular they discontinue those items. If you are planning to ship these packages to other states and country the candy/jerky bags are strong and durable. They will not rip apart easily and you need scissors to open them, many of the bags have a seal on top of them to help keep the freshness. The items do lasts awhile after opening them some of the peanuts I have purchased lasted for a good two months. read more

Two words: Cinnamon Bagels. Not the soft kind. Not the toasted kind. Not even slathered in a centimeter-thick layer of cream cheese kind. These are crispy, thinly-sliced, cinnamon-sugary bagel chips. They're yummy, and Vegas 808 is probably the only place in the world you can get them. DAMN I wish my camera were working to be able to post a picture of them right now! Proof that these bagels are bomb: I brought a 10-inch tall cylinder container of them to work on Monday and today, all that's left on the bottom are crumbs. It's Wednesday. $10 a canister. They have snacks like jerky, lui hing covered items, all kinds of flavored plums, dried fruits, a few Japanese treats (like rice cakes, dried hokkugai, hello panda), candies like malt balls, chocolate covered potato chips, gummi bears, etc. I was checking their jerky out and some of their jerky varieties are soft. The BF likes soft jerky but has trouble finding it. We got both a brisket meat variety ($7.50) in sweet& spicy and peppered. We also got chocolate covered potato chips ($7.95). All were pretty good. You know this a pretty neat spot when you stop here right after eating downstairs at the Market Street Café buffet for breakfast and still be able to stock up on a crap load of snacks! It's pretty pricey but everything is so good and unique. I wanted to buy everything! This is what I bought: - Smoked salmon beef jerky. It was just okay. I thought it needed to be marinated in whatever it was marinated in a lot longer. The flavor just wasn't there. But it was ok for munching. $12.99 for a small bag. - Tropical popcorn. I haven't opened this yet but it looks so good! It's actually popcorn with tropical flavors such as lime, raspberry, coconut, watermelon, apple, etc. It looks delish though! $4.99 for a small bag. - Chocolate covered peanuts. It looks like rocks! I haven't opened this yet either but it looks so good! $5.99 for a small bag. - Vegetable chips. Pretty good! Lots of different veggies sliced and either fried or baked to crunchy goodness. Yum! I think this was either $4.99 or $6.99 for a small bag. I wanted to try the chocolate covered sunflower seeds and the pearl chocolates. I so more wanted to buy these because they were absolutely gorgeous looking. LOL. The pearls looked so real and the sunflower seeds were just beautiful! This place has some of the best li hing flavored things. I may not be the best to explain what li hing is for those who don't know, but it's a salty dried plum. The flavor is super exquisite. It's salty, it's sweet, and even kind of sour. It probably isn't for everyone, but it's something to try if you're up for something new. I was hooked on li hing things and ended up getting my dad more hooked on it than me! The popular ones are the li hing gummy bears, sour belts, sour patch kids, mangos, or sour patch watermelon.... honestly if you end up liking li hing you just need to choose whatever you want to eat it with. Located inside the California, it was a quick walk from my hotel. I wandered over in search of local food and some snacks. It's a small store that makes use of every bit of space. The goodies hanging in bags remind me of when I was a kid - brightly colored sugary popcorn, iso peanuts, beef jerky, cuttlefish, seeds, and more! It's fairly low-key. The cashier gave me time and space to "ooh" and "ahh" about things I hadn't seen/eaten in a long time. The beef jerky selection is pretty big and pretty good if meat is your thing. I grabbed a bunch of bags and kept walking up to the counter where a rather large pile began to grow. Great place to feel like a kid in a candy store - literally! Prices are a bit high but everything is expensive in the area so that's not a huge deal. read more

My friend just came back from Vegas and bought me half pound of beef jerky peppered and once I opened that bag up my memory of vegas came back. Oh but the jerky here is super delicious and flavorful. The peppered jerky is made from brisket of beef (which is all in my tummy after a day) is so tender and addictive. I'm almost tempted to call Shige O. to ship me some since he lives out there :P Aside from jerky this place is pretty much like a crack seed store except with less variety. This is always on my list when visiting the area. Definitely has a 'kid-in-a-candy-shop' vibe, especially if you like Hawaiian/Asian snacks. Went to pick up some goodies before flying back to the islands. Great selection and well stocked. Got the jalapeno pistachios and when I started to enjoy them, alot of the shells were closed and was not able to eat them. All in all I would say, more than 20% of the shells were closed.
