And it's already July now. I opened this bag and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. The coin shaped pieces reminded me of old time Chinese snack food haw flakes, but larger. The pieces were tender and perfectly seasoned, a balance of savory and sweet. I polished off the bag over three sittings of watching TV after work... not a good thing but those beef chips were darn good. My friends and I actually talked about this store in February or March as some of them were planning a trip to Vegas. They mentioned that this store was on their to do list in shopping for things to bring home. Isn't that always how it works, getting things that we can't get at home? On a recent golf getaway I came here twice on the same day. Once after lunch and again after dinner. Pros: * many items made in Hawaii * many items Hawaiian inspired * small business owner who actually makes what they're selling at the store * Karen's cookies are boxed in a very durable cardboard box. Great to pack in your luggage without fear of broken cookies. Yes, there's an actual Karen. Cons: * off the beaten path tucked in a corner on the 3rd floor of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. If you take the hotel elevator to the 3rd floor, you've got to walk down the narrow hallway which leads you out to the store. Better to enter from the street by the donut store. Keep left to the escalator up to the 3rd floor. Why did I come twice in one day? 1) The first time I was curious about the beef jerky. I ended up buying the almond butter shortbread cookies after another customer talked it up. I passed on the jerky. Tried a cookie when I got home. Very snappy. 2) the second time I bought the bagel chips after a friend raved about how good they were. I bought the cinnamon ones and the Parmesan cheese flavored ones. They also have the broken bagel chips bagged for purchase. I'll definitely return as a repeat customer now that I'm aware of the store. read more

I'm addicted to cinnamon bagel chips. If your from Hawaii this was one of the goodies people brought back when they visited Vegas. Well my family, friends and coworkers did :) The store has a new packaging from the cyclinder plastic. I like the new packaging. You can purchase 6 boxes for $69 and they will provide a box to protect your precious cargo. When we walked in the family owned store the workers were so friendly and welcoming. The Aloha spirit just shines here we were asked the familiar connecting question that islanders ask, "what school we went to (my kids) and graduated from (for me)?" My kids were also given gummy bears. Other Items that we like to get: * Karens Gourmet Cookies- shortbread cookies (my San Diego coworkers loved it) These are so hard to share! It melts in your mouth, has a crunch, and goes so well with coffee, milk or hot chocolate. As I shared it at work it pained me at the same time as people ate it cause it was one less cookie away from being gone. * Parmesan bagel chips (my kids prefer this flavor to Cinnamon) * Dried fruit mango * Jerkey You can order these items but the bagels and cookies cost more to ship. Plus the bagels may break when you ship it out. Location: Located on the 3rd floor of the Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. They offer validated parking. The store is near two bathrooms. It's near banquet rooms and can be hard to find. It's across of Bingo. This is my go to spot to bring back goodies when I visit Vegas. Hopefully it will be yours too! Don't let the name fool you as this little cozy shop is filled with all the yummy favorites from the various jerkys but have you seen ones that have been marinated in beer and whiskey? Whenever we are in Las Vegas; I always make sure we that we stop here to purchase a few 'ono kine snacks and goodies. Our "go to" item has always been the bagel chips. This time, I was disappointed in their updated packaging. It's soooo different compared to their packaging that they've had for well over two decades. Ahem! I'm totally aging myself; but, when I used to live back home on Maui; my co-workers and I would gift each other this whenever one of us would fly to Las Vegas. It was a must stop for sure. Over the years; they've added a lot of different beef jerky items. We love beef jerky too so it's always fun to choose a variety of different types. On this trip; we knew we'd be driving through the storm back to the bay so I made sure we had a lot of snacks for the road. Always come here when visiting Vegas and typically don't have any issues. It has been a few years since I have been (last time was pre-COVID). The staff this time did not seem very friendly and gave a snarky reply when asked about a product that apparently got discontinued during COVID. I also did not know that if you spend $100 you get a reusable bag. I was about $20 short (basically two larger bags of jerky's) and the lady ringing me up did not mention (you'd think they'd want me to spend more at their shop). This is usually my go to spot for the local snacks that you can only get in Vegas. My favorite is the Karen's Gourmet Cinnamon bagels that comes in the long cylindrical plastic container. My brother went to the shop to pick me up some of my favorite bagels but to my dismay the "broken" Karen's cinnamon bagel chips are literally nothing but the butt ends of the bagels! It was so disappointing to see and taste this as the "butt ends" tend to be less tasty and more bitter. I would not recommend the broken bag of this bagel chips even if you're trying to save some space in your suitcase and the ease of trying not to break them in your luggage. read more

Always a must stop for us visiting from Hawaii. We always buy the lup chong, bagel chips, and short bread cookies. There was a person who wondered in and asked the workers, "what do you sell in here? just jerky and bagel chips?! hmm everyone is carrying those box carriers." and left. Eh I know right?! But she missing out. The lup chong is from a different manufacturer from years past, I asked. We rinse, cut thin and fry...ono with rice or with saimin. The Cinnamon Bagel chips are drenched in the cinnamon sugar combo- cannot stop! We also bought the Parmesan Garlic Bagel chips, that was ono too, so flavorful probably good with a salad. When visiting Vegas, i always bring back some Cinnamon Sugar Bagel chips from this place for my coworkers, they go nuts over them. They are delicious and addicting! I really should get 2. There's also garlic parmesan but i don't think its as good as the cinnamon sugar. There used to be more flavors in the past but i guess these to flavors were the best sellers so they have since dropped out. This time around i also got some of the crispy beef jerky, both original flavor and teriyaki. Its like a beef potato chip, so thin, probably freeze dried, sliced paper thin then dehydrated.
