After doing some shopping at the mall, the restaurant is just one minute away--convenient, accessible, and perfect for a spontaneous meal. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. The view from inside the restaurant is impressive and adds so much to the experience. Second, the staff. The service is exceptional. The team is attentive, fast, kind, and truly knowledgeable about their menu. Wanting to try something new, I ordered a shrimp cocktail I had never tasted before, La Fiera. After giving it two or three tries, I realized it wasn't for me. I asked our waiter if I could change my order, and he kindly checked with the manager. They happily agreed. Moments later, the manager, Paco--a very likable and friendly man--introduced himself, cleared our table, and even prepared our carajillos. Emiliano, our waiter, was outstanding from start to finish. Third, the food. It is simply out of this world. If it fits within the word "seafood," they probably have it here. We ordered the seafood soup, a traditional shrimp cocktail, and both octopus and fried shrimp. Every dish was superb. A quick warning: their salsas are extremely hot--delicious, but proceed with caution! I highly recommend La Mariskeña and fully intend to visit again in the future.

Los Campos is located on the south-eastern side of Centro Historico district and is an easy walk from Jardin de la Union. What drew us to Los Campos was the referenced diversity of their menu. My companion eats chicken and fish, while I am a vegan and plant-based. Their menu has multiple vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. While the flavors were pretty good, it was the plate presentation that was exceptional and we both felt that Los Campos was a little too pretentious for us. I was limited to order the Chaminones con Mezcal. Mushrooms flambeed in Mezcal with orange zest and dried chile. My wife, although not excited to try, did have the Burrito de Cerdo Ahumado en Salsa Colorado. It wasn't that Los Campos was too fancy, it was more like we, as diners, were more comfortable in other settings. We would suspect that diners from the United States or from Europe would fall in love with the avant-garde interiors and plate presentations. From all accounts, that all seems to be true, it's just our style. Dinner started with some delicious bread and dipping oils. For dinner I ordered the Tuna entree and it was DELICIOUS! The tuna was seared and cooked to a medium rare and served on top of a bed of vegetables. It was so fresh and delicious. We washed it down with the house sangria, which I watched the make at the bar right in front of me. So I know it was fresh and it was the best sangria I've ever had. Decor was modern and upscale. And the service was great! Our waitress was kind and patient with my terrible Spanish and our food came out quick. This place was definitely more expensive than your typical food in Mexico, but Guanajuato is a tourist town, so it was expected. It was also not expensive compared to American dinner prices. It was about 900 pesos for us all to eat and have drinks, which is about 55 American dollars! Overall, I definitely recommend stopping here for dinner any night you're here!

Except for the pistachios, which I love but we're a tad weird on a pizza, it was amazing. I'm not usually a thin crust lover, but it was perfectly done. My partner gambled on a pepperoni pizza. It wasn't pink! It seems like much pepperoni in this region is some strange pink substance, but not here. True tasty Italian pepperoni.
