The mechanics are very Informational. They show you the problem and explain exactly what they will do. Quick, fast and affordable. I actually gave only a 3 stars instead of a 5 because the lady at the front desk needs an attitude adjustment. It's ok to explain the warranty policy but her demeanor and tone was unprofessional even though I insisted I understood that I need my receipt next time. My wife's car needed some muffler work as it slowly got louder over the past couple of weeks. Per recommendations here and of family, we decided to get there early this morning when they opened to have it looked at. There were already two gentlemen waiting when we got there just as they were open. We did so as it's first come first serve. They do not make appointments. The lady at the front desk, who was very nice, checked us all in. We sat in the sparse waiting area for only 15 minutes waiting our turn when the technician had the car up on the lift showing us what the issue was. 15 minutes after that we were getting back in our car that is as quiet as a church mouse and on our way. Our cost was only $50 and a time investment of half an hour. Please note, for minor costs like this they only accept cash. I don't know what their threshold is on being able to use a card for payment, but I'm sure if you call there, they will be happy to guide you. read more

These guys are the best! After a disaster of system install at D&M Muffler in Aurora (lousy sound, crooked pipes, sloppy welds and rattling hangers), I brought my '71 GTO to Velasquez. They salvaged my tail pipes and aligned the tips perfectly with the cutouts in the rear valance panel, installed my chambered mufflers, precision bent custom pipes to connect to my headers and installed an O2 sensor bung and plug for a future EFI install. The pipes were carefully offset up against the floor pan an hidden from view from the side. I can't say enough about what a great job these guys do! read more

I have an 2006 Infinity FX35 and the pipe connecting to the muffler broke in two. I went here to have it fixed because my friend told me they are one of the best in the business. Being a perfectionist, i have to check them out for myself. After getting in queue, i told them I'm just getting something to eat at Wendy's from across the street and when i got back, i couldn't believe its was over and done. My son brought his truck in to have an exhaust system installed. Not even 2 weeks later all the bolts fell out of the header/muffler connection on the drver side. He brought it back to get reconnected and they charged him $40 for labor!! They charged him labor after they didn't tighten the bolts. The other side was fine because they tightend the bolts on that side. I will never step foot in this scam business again! How can you not honor a warranty knowing you screwed up? Walked into the place to have them look at my vehicle because of a noise from underneath. They told me to sit in my car and wait. Waited 30mins and they sent me someone who didn't speak English to talk to me about my vehicles problem. I asked if the employee spoke English he said no and said something in Spanish. I told him I needed to speak to someone that spoke English. He just smiled and stood there. They didn't want to deal with me and just wanted to get rid of me. Honest, trustworthy and compassionate. These would be the 3 words I would use to describe this business. They have helped my 87 year old father-in-law twice now. Today when he stopped by because his brake light keeps coming on. They told him that this shop doesn't work on brakes, but they still took the time to look under his hood and see if he needed brake fluid. They didn't charge him for their time, they just showed kindness to an elderly man that needed help. I really appreciate this and so did he. Service is first come first serve. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon and waited for about an hour. Didn't mind waiting for a fix same day. They quoted 90 to fix the muffler piece that broke off, it was a quick fix with a warranty. Would come back again! Great staff and the front desk receptionist is a wonderful lady. Someone told me recently to check out Velasquez for an exhaust pipe repair. He said they are all over Chicagoland. I knew there was one in Elgin but never had to go there. I can't speak for other locations, but this one is really good. I expected a full replacement of the pipe and muffler, but they offered just a "patch" since the muffler was still in very good condition. I watched them work, from cutting the damaged pipe, to shaping the replacement sleeves and welding them on the exhaust line. Well, the last part I did not watch, but I looked at the finished product. All of this was done quickly and expertly. They are a "walk-in only" place, and were busy. Still, I waited only 10 minutes for them to get my car, 5 minutes for them to see the hole in the pipe and show me, and 30 minutes for the repair itself. $60 dollars total, to repair the hole, and for another preventative repair I asked them to do and the manager agreed it would be good to do. For such a repair, they take cash only, but they do take card for more "standard" replacements where they have to order parts. When I ever need more exhaust repairs, I'm going back there... It might be soon, my other vehicle, an SUV, is getting quite noisy. read more

The service is very good cheap and quick, I recently had to go in to replace a muffler they installed 4 years ago($50), because of their lifetime warranty on their parts I got it installed in about 15 minutes for just the cost of the labor $20 dollars. Go to this shop! The mechanic explained to me what needed to be done. He said that the noise was not the muffler at all, but a crack in the catalytic converter. So, the muffler stayed and he was able to replace the catalytic converter on the spot. I was in and out in an hour. They can accommodate more than mufflers and brakes, it's convenient, and the staff is informative and friendly. I'm a fan! read more

This place is horrendous. In terms of cleanliness in the office and the service they provide. First off, I saw cockroaches in the office while I was waiting for my car to be done. The entire place is filthy, I don't know how this place is still running. I get the surrounding neighborhood doesn't help, but at least clean the place up for God's sake. Next, they totally hacked up my catalytic converter. I went in there wanting to replace my faulty catalytic converter for an aftermarket one to address my check engine light issue. Little did I know they were making my problem a whole lot worse. My check engine light kept coming back on after they worked on it so I had to go back to this place they call a 'business'. They said there was a 'leak' on the catalytic converter they put on so they fixed that 'leak'. Couple days later I'm back at the place again with my check engine light back on. This time they replaced it with another catalytic converter and charged me $40 for labor when they said the catalytic converter has a 3 year warranty. Driving my car for a week with no check engine light, I finally thought they actually fixed my problem with my catalytic converter. Then the light goes back on once again...I decide not to take it to this horrible facility and went to one of our trusted reliable mechanics to check out my problem. Turns out VELASQUEZ MUFFLERS HACKED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. Save your money and time everyone, it's cheap for a reason. Never will I step foot in this place ever again. read more
