I needed my engagement ring sized up and wanted to try a local jewelry shop, particularly one that would do so in house. I ended up choosing Shockey Jewelers, and I'm very happy with the whole experience. I had a lot of questions about the resizing of my ring, which is white gold with a center stone and small stones along the sides. They answered all of them as well as I could have hoped. They do the resizing in house, they'd cut the ring and insert additional gold to get it to the right size, they could do quarter sizes (not just whole and half), and it would take up to a week (it ended up only being a couple of days). After using their ring sizers, I decided to go up 3/4 of a size. The price was the only downside, as it would have been cheaper to take it to the jeweler it came from. In the end, I didn't mind paying a little extra for a local small business that will take a more personalized interest in me and my favorite piece of jewelry. The ring came out beautifully. It has been several months since I got it resized, and I still find myself feeling grateful for the work Shockey Jewelers did. read more

Why isn't there an option for more stars!?! I was sitting at my desk today, minding my own business and doing some filing when all of the sudden my ring caught on my sweater. Bummer!! I looked closely at my ring, and one of the small diamonds on my three stone ring was loose!!! Panic overcame me. I don't have a jeweler!! Anyhow, I came to the best place I know to find good businesses - Yelp! I searched for jewelers near my work and found tons of them, most with iffy reviews. No thanks. I searched near home, and also found quite a few with iffy reviews, but Shockey Jewelers stood out due to their flawless ratings. I decided to give them a call to see if they could help me. I called right away and spoke with Pete, who was very kind and helpful (and also calm - I can't say the same for myself though). Pete told me that they would be open until 5:30 tonight and he would be happy to take a look at it if I brought it in. I told him I would likely be in tonight after work, as I was very worried I may lose a diamond out of my ring. I arrived at about 4:15 and was promptly greeted by a woman whose name I didn't catch, and I wish I would have. She took a look at my ring, told me it would be a few minutes and offered me Halloween candy and a look around their cases. She walked in back and handed off my ring to someone to look at. I gladly looked around at their showcased pieces while I waited. Every piece was so gorgeous and not like any jewelry I've seen before. Engagement rings, wedding bands, necklaces, earrings, birthstone jewelry, watches... It was all *stunning* and sparkly and I wish I could have tried it all on!! I about had to wipe my drool off the glass... While I was waiting, another man came in to pick up a ring that he had left for repair. He began telling the woman that he had it repaired for his 25th anniversary this weekend. The woman quickly offered to put it in a box and gift wrap it for him to present to his wife for their anniversary. How sweet of her to think of that detail and offer it!! This is truly someone that knows no limit to customer satisfaction. Anyhow, she came back out with my ring moments later. She had cleaned and polished my ring to perfection, and the side stone was tightened up in its setting so as to not break free. When I asked of the charge, the lovely woman told me that it was free of charge and to come back and see them, which I most definitely will!!! Shockey Jewelers made my month!!! How amazing of them to perform that service for me on a ring that wasn't their creation. You just don't find businesses like this anymore. I can see why Shockey Jewelers has been around for so many years. They're clearly in tune with their customers needs and also offer amazing jewelry!! My boyfriend needed some work done on a ring so we randomly chose this jeweler and we're so glad we did! We were greeted by a friendly older woman (i can't remember her name) she answered some questions for me while Chris helped my boyfriend with his ring. I can't even begin to express how genuine both employees were to us. Chris went above and beyond to make sure what my boyfriend needed was done. I'm just going to say it. I recently lost my wedding rings. Yes, both of them. It was a horrible situation and it's the worst feeling to loose something that has such sentimental value. The good news is, we were at least smart enough to have them insured, so after a month passed and I got over the situation, it was time to go looking for a new ring. My husband and I used Shockey's the first time around and they took great care of us. They resized a family heirloom, got us set up with my band, got us all the appraisal info that we needed for insurance and all in all made the experience very pleasant. So when it came time to go back for round two, we absolutely wanted to give our business back to Shockey's. This time we dealt with a young man named Chris and he took his time and walked me thru all the various options and really made what was kind of a sad situation very easy and even fun. Waited 3 months for repair,destroyed my pendant!!!also outsourced my friends ring to ez pawn for sizing!!!Never again !!!!

Please avoid at all cost. We recently took in family collections of estate watches to see if they wanted to buy them. They said they would call us the following week. We waited patiently. In the second week I went down to claim them and to see what was going on. They couldn't find them. They looked in the safe, not there. They almost gave me some other person's stuff. They looked in the office couldn't find it. Looked in the back room couldn't find it. They said they had a flood, that everything was topsy-turvy . They finally called the guy who was working when we went in, they were all sitting behind some decorative boxes behind the counter. Not in the safe. I said that doesn't seem like a good security, he said, you think the safe is safe when the doors are open??? He, Pete, was very unreasonable. He kept demanding an apology from me because he lost my stuff. I merely pointed out there seems to be a management issue if my stuff was not in a safe, couldn't be found, and was sitting in the showroom behind some decorative boxes. Not recommended. read more

On two different occasions, they sold defective jewelry which I received as gifts. If I could see the spots, how is it possible they didn't notice - twice - and then sold the items and let them out of the store? I returned the set of a ring and 2 earrings. When I was notified my set had been replaced and I went to pick it up, one of the earrings was missing! No one had bothered to check. This is my first experience with this store and most likely also the last. They may be nice enough but apparently have no quality control. read more

We have worked with many of the employees and they have all been great, but Chris has always gone above and beyond for us. My husband purchased my engagement ring here and then we purchased my wedding band and two wedding bands for him. We are very pleased with the quality and value of the rings. I had an issue recently with my wedding band and they took care of it no questions asked. Terrible customer service. I brought my ring in to be sized and it was estimated to take two weeks. I was told the owner was out of town so my ring was never taken care of. I had to call to ask when my ring was going to be done because I had heard nothing. I was told it would take another two weeks after it had been sitting in the store for two weeks and they did nothing with it. I could not believe how poor the communication was. I will start by saying I have come to this store before and had a nice experience getting a watch resized but today was not the same. It wasn't the customer service or care....it was the lack of. Walking in on a Saturday morning around 1030 me and my fiance going to get her ring resized...we walk im and the clerk is with another customer....doesn't really even acknowledge that we are there...so we walk around and wait...after a few minutes I can hear another person in the partially closed back area having a phone conversation which instantly turns me off...so on top of being ignored by the front clerk she didn't even bother to let the back room clerk know someone's there as she continued on her personal phone conversation....the worst customer service ever. "It was sent out" "it needed more repair"....etc. Only to find that it was in there store the whole time just left on some back counter. It was for a gift which is too late now. But this downtown business has been there so long that it has an established clientele that it knows well. I am now one of those.
