In a state full of snobby bike shops, this place is a welcome reprieve. I have been here multiple times for multiple types of bikes. Recently shifted from riding dirt jumpers to getting my first full suspension trail bike, and obviously theres a lot to know for full suspension, even more so since I bought used. These guys have been *nothing* but welcoming, explanatory, and honest. It's nice to feel like I don't need to be on guard for parts/services that pad their pockets but are unneeded. If I could leave 6 stars I would, and as far as I'm concerned there isn't a shop in the city that I would rather go to. Thanks guys! read more

Zach & Team are all wonderful. This bike shop Rocks!. I have been using them for years, first when in Wash Park, now in Englewood. They do maintenance on all my bikes from my top-end Tri-Bike, Mountain Bikes, to the kids bikes. I bought my last bike, Jamis Portal C2, from here and it was a no-pressure sale. They truly care about their customer and take care of them educating them on what is needed, making quick repairs if possible if you stop in, to recommending a local trail. Shady owner who thinks his shit doesn't stink and that neither he nor any of his employees are capable of making a mistake. I brought in a bike to get a tune and some new parts put on. They ended up stripping the lower brake mount on the fork and would not admit their wrong doing, offerd no remedy, and overall did not give a shit that he ruined an $800 DOLLAR FORK. I went in to get my brakes fixed and came back with a $120 bill... and I refused a bunch of services. They may have been good suggestions if you're an avid rider and need a high-performing bike, but I'm not that person. I just need it to stop when I brake and go when I pedal... I have gone to REI for the past 3 years for all my bike needs/tune ups. My boss had been recommending this place for two years so I last week I decided to support local and bring my bike because I had a $20 off coupon for a full tune (normally $80). I wish I would have kept my receipt so I could explain this scam in more detail! I told him my bike had been on my patio for most of the winter - he said I need new grips because they are sticky which I found strange because my roommate's bike sat right next to mine all winter long (same grips) and his were not sticky. He then told me I need to replace the shifter cables, then another thing, and another. I finally left, feeling like I had just been treated like a red headed step child. When I picked up my bike 4 days and $120 later (when I had initially just wanted the $60 tune), I hopped on it and hit the Cherry Creek Trail. The first two miles were smooth. The next two miles, my bike chain had popped off twice - good thing the shifter cable was replaced! Another two miles and my front brake pad starts screeching like D Bo's bike in Friday - good thing they replaced my rear brake pads! After a few kicks I was finally able to get it to stop. I would not recommend taking your bike here. I'm all for recommendations and want to trust the professional who is working on my bike. It's one thing to make recommendations but don't be pushy and say "well if you don't get it done now you're going to be paying an arm and a leg for labor if you need to get it replaced so you should do this this and this right now!" read more

The guys @ VC know bikes and they love bikes. I have a very old Bridgestone MB-1 that is ~25 years old. I had not fixed anything on the bike since I purchased it and it needed some love. They loved the bike up and it will probably last another 25 years now. This is a great place and I won't go anywhere else for my biking needs. Give them a try. Very happy with the service I got at Velosoul. Its a small shop but they do it right. They have good bikes for sale with a variety of styles, rather than just all cruisers or road or mountain. But what really makes the place is their head mechanic. The guy went to town on my bike and it look, runs and feels beautiful. Seriously, it had been 4 years and 2,500 miles since my last in store tuneup and after coming here it rides like the day I bought it. Also a big plus is they got to my ride quickly. Other shops were giving me 2 weeks to turn it around. Velosoul did it in 3 days. Very happy. read more

I found this bike shop on Yelp so it is worth giving them a five star shout out! Right in the neighborhood and convenient to Wash Park and Platt Park. I emailed them and they told me to come in without appointment! I stopped in on a Saturday morning for tubes and tire installation and I was on my way to Golden within twenty minutes! The guys were friendly, honest, and reasonable in price! I would highly recommend this shop! read more

A caveat, the bike I took in to Velosoul was a pretty beefy downhill/freeride bike. The brakes were giving me problems and I believe I need to replace the rear derailer arm. Yesterday, I went to the store and asked to pick up my bike. The owner was very polite and apologetic, which I appreciated. Additionally he did not even try to charge me for any sort of "inspection" even though I know my bike took one of his tech's time. My largest complaint is still just a lack of communication between the staff at Velosoul and myself. When someone has custody of something I own valued at over $1000 (at least when I originally purchased it), i expect to hear from them when they tell me they will. I should not be expected to have to call to follow up, especially when Velosoul told me they would call when they were able to get more information about the bike. read more

Stopped in here a week ago to check out some bikes for my husband. The employee working was super nice and very informative. It was just a few minutes until they closed but that didn't stop him from helping me, showing me bikes and answering any questions. The phone range, people came in to pick up bikes...he was the only one working and was able to handle all the chaos before closing. Will definitely be back to support this local bike shop. read more

I went in over a weekend in August hoping to purchase a new coaster brake arm. The one I was replacing was totally destroyed and I didn't want to wait on a part being delivered from an online store. I was hoping Velosoul might have some random coaster brakes and one might just be close enough fit to work. The employees informed me that it would be impossible for them to find/order a new coaster brake arm. I asked what a new coaster brake would cost and using fuzzy math, that included telling me that spokes cost $1 a piece, I would spend $80 buying a new wheel and coaster brake. The employees at this bike shop are clearly used to inflating costs to up charge their customers for bicycle repairs. It was mesmerizing how good they were backing up each other's lies. Avoid this shop! I did however find a shop that checked through a box of spare coaster brake parts and found me a match. Total cost: $3.06 including tax. read more

They were quick to make sure I was taken care of, in a timely fashion and took care of the bike just as I expected at a very reasonable price at that!! Zach and the team at Velosoul are awesome! They have always taken great care of me but went above and beyond yesterday. I was hit by a car during my ride. Thankfully I was ok but my bike got messed up. By the time I got away from the scene it was 6pm and I knew Velosoul was closed but I decided to swing by just in case. Zach had already locked up and was getting ready to head home but he unlocked the door for me, quickly checked my bike out and took it to give it a more thorough inspection today. Fantastic!! I brought 2 bikes in for service after moving back to Denver, and they treated them both with great care even though one probably cost 20 times what the other one did. They suggested different and appropriate services for each. Even the high-end one was not outrageously expensive, although I got new tires and several other things. Plus, the best news was that my favorite bike fitter from Bicycle Village in Aurora (Jerry) now works there! Highly recommended, and so happy I found them. read more

Scammed. I foolishly let Zach know that I didn't know enough about bikes and asked for his help in identifying tune up areas on my recently purchased bike. He said my handlebars were bent and that I needed a new seat. 1) Handlebars were not bent to my eye, bust he insisted that his eye was trained unlike mine, and a"scary accidents" could end up happening if I didn't do it, and that if they were bent at all, they would snap off in peices while going over a crack in the road, etc. I declined. I asked for new handlebar tape and he said, "even with those bent handlebars?" I thought I'd eventually have to retape new bars if they did snap like he said, so I said bought it. He charged me $42. -- Okay, so I get the old handlebars back when I pick up my bike. I inspected closely: they are NOT bent whatsoever. 2)The tape, btw, I found was $10 cheaper at REI. Also there were replacement peices in the tape package, which when I asked for them, I got some major stuck up attitude and was hold "everything was used." 3) the seat, he said would cause me saddle sores because of a little tear which he insisted had poisonous mold in it which would be bad close to "that part" of my body. I'm female. I didn't go for that, because it sounded stupid. Unfortunately, scammed out of 42, and overpriced by another 10 and lost out of my replacement tape. Also, the tune up cost 80 alone. Find better prices and trustworthy, honest service elsewhere. read more

Not knowing much about the cycling world is a tricky proposition, especially if you've already been burned once on an expensive purchase and you're trying to get into a new ride. Zach took his gentle glove of professional kindness and guided my girlfriend and I to bike Nirvana: in less than 90 minutes I was riding a brand new Jamis Beatnik. The bike itself is the most fun I've had on two wheels (sorry Hazard boys) and I was impressed by the knowledge and candor with which Zach greets his job. Definitely my local bike guy. Just started looking for a commuter bike today and this was the second place I visited with very little research done beforehand. I wanted something simple and cheap, but nothing from the first place felt right and neither did the higher priced ones. After entering Velosoul, I stated my need and without hesitation Zach, the owner, said he had the perfect bike. I'm not sure if it was because the suggested bike's name is "Commuter 3" or his experience. After talking some more I could tell it was from experience. You quickly find out that Zach lives and breathes bikes. The bike just felt right. It was a little more than originally planned but all the upgrades I actually needed or wanted. I like this place. I bought an expensive pannier for my husband which burst at the seams after about a year. I took it back and got it replaced; no problem, no fees or pushback. Tucked away on the end of Pearl in Wash Park, next to the Pub on Pearl and across from Whole Foods, lies a tiny little treasure of a bike shop. This place is run by people who ride, love bikes, love talking about bikes, love working on bikes...well, you get the idea. They are not snobbish, or over the top fitness jerks that look down on other cyclist...they are real folks, just trying to get people to ride. I love this place. I've bought accessories here, but I have yet to buy a bike...and if my wife wasn't with me, I would have 3 of theirs by now! If you need almost anything from a commuter/get around town bike to something more high end, this is a great place to go! They also have some bikes I've never seen anyplace else, so they have a good variety. If you need a new bike, or bike related items, check them out! read more

Nobody there carries the normal "I work at a bike shop and am better than you because of it" vibe, which is a huge plus as a first time bike buyer.
