Exactly what you want, not a big box store employee that's been there 3 months trying to hit their quota. Some reviews call out being a trek dealer as a negative but most if not all small shops are registered with a large brand to survive. I walked into this shop to get my front brake, wheels, and chains fixed. They immediately consulted with me and told me it would only take 20 minutes. That was exactly right, and I was incredibly pleased with my visit. The staff is knowledgeable and has a keen attention to detail. hurts me to leave this cause the people are friendly and seem knowledgeable. I also live in the neighborhood.. however I was out riding, popped a tire on a pot hole. So I walked the bike over to get a simple tube replacement. after inspecting it, the tech tells me he didn't feel comfortable replacing the tube because the rim had a small dent. he stated the tube would pop again if he replaced it.. ( I just needed the tube replaced so I didn't have to walk home) It's the fact that they refused the simple service when they could have just informed me about the possibility of it popping again and asked if I still wanted it replaced.. walked the bike home, replaced the tube myself and haven't had issues since. will not be returning.. read more

Disappointed in this previous "go to" independent shop now that it seems to have gone corporate - trek dealer. Limited selection of brands and offerings. I visited recently to have an adjustment to my bicycle. Repair guy completely ignored me for 20 minutes as he spent time on someone else's bike (a trek, by the way). Sure, I should have walked out much earlier. When he finally got to my bike needs, he complicated the repair need way out of proportion. As the required part was not available, I suggested I'd return when part can in. Ultimately took my bike to a different shop in the mountains. They listened to my repair request (the original one I visited Campus Bikes for), and had my bike turned around in 1 hour. Yes, didn't need anything more than a minor adjustment. Saved a ton of money on parts I didn't need as well. Oh well, time to find a new trustworthy LBS. read more

Campus Cycles, is a complete bike store/shop. While other local shops have had to close, CC has not. They have been a local business since 1983. Denver Spoke was my go to bike shop; however, the store too had also been in business for years; however, it closed, so after searching for another store close to my area, I decided to visit CC. The staff, service, parts and inventory are all excellent. The mechanics, try their best to ensure you are not purchasing items and services that are not really necessary to make your bike safe and run efficiently. They confer with other staff about your bike, to get it right. I was very impressed and happy that my canyon aero was going to be well serviced and that I was not paying for items that I thought I'd need. It is darn near impossible to find kids bikes in town right now but Campus Cycles has a fantastic partnership with Trek and a good supply of kids bikes! We found the perfect 24in girls bike! They dude a quick tuning job on it before we took it home, we'll get free adjustments and fittings for it as well as the option of upgrading to a larger size in the next 2 years. The team at Campus Cycles has been so helpful over the years with tire changes and tunings for our other bikes. They are always quick and super helpful about getting us in. This is my second purchase from Campus Cycles. As a petite, 5'0" person, they helped identify a bike that is my size (!) and light enough to carry up and down stairs, when needed. They also worked to get the handlebars positioned so that I don't have numb arms when biking - a game changer! I did a lot of research before purchasing a rack and bag to carry my stuff. I haul around the very heavy bike lock as well as repair kit, and then might be going to/from the library or store with books/food. When I went to get these items, they installed them, showed me how they work, and helped me figure out how to attach my back light on to the new rack. Stopped by here today to get an old, but very nice, bike tuned up so I could send it with my son to college. We were told the bike was too old and it was not worth tuning up. I said I would be happy to pay the fee to tune up the bike. The guy then said it would take a month, so we would be better off taking it somewhere else. No one leaves their bike behind in the summer for a month to be repaired. This was clearly not the truth. They just didn't want to work on this bike. I have never had a bike shop behave this way. They definitely won't get any future business from me on my newer, more expensive bikes, and I recommend you steer clear as well. A guy came in behind us to get his bike repaired and walked out of the shop right behind us. It appears he got the same treatment. Don't bother. read more

I had a very good experience with campus cycles. I bought a bike for my daughter and everyone I talked to was so polite and ready to help. This past summer I bought bikes for myself and son at Bike Source and I am shocked at the difference between the experiences. Everyone at Bike Source would prefer to be somewhere else, they don't want to deal with the public. I like my bikes like a horse girl likes her horses. Healthy, fast, and beautiful. Campus cycles has helped me get my old Cannondale road bike in proper shape when the back rims were old/spikey and kept popping the tube. Mark was helpful and solution oriented. He didn't expect me to sell two arms, a leg, and my firstborn to buy some brand new road bike. Overall the team at Campus Cycles has both pizzazz and knowledge when it comes to bikes, and they're not afraid to wear those tye dye shirts to show it! Let's just say my bike broke down in front another shop. Said competitor quoted me till august to repair a disc (it was May). Walked over to Campus where I had bought bike originally. Will get disc replaced and full tune up in 10 days instead of 75+. Super nice staff both sales and service. Love them. read more

Just got my bike out of the shop today (9/15/2020) from Campus Cycles. This turned out to be my first-time dealing with Campus Cycles and also My Last. I wanted SO MUCH to believe the majority of good reviews I read. And I was hoping that the bad reviews would be the standard mostly angry unhelpful opinions you often read. But Biker-Folks out there, this time you really should pay attention to the bad reviews for Campus Cycles and the history of consistencies that are reflected in them. I mainly dealt with Sam when it came to communications about repair services. Good guy I'm sure. But I'm from the deep South and recognize a silver-tongued sweet talker from a thousand miles away when I see one. The rest of the employees I briefly encountered were also 'following suit' with Sam, in my case. But from step one of my transactions, I felt patronized. But instantly knew I had to dumb-down a little to get anywhere with my bike issues. Anything less than the dumbing-down game, in my opinion, would have been askin' to argue with a drunk. So, I sunk to that level just to get through. My Bike is my main mode of transportation. I've not owned a car since 2007. Even though I'm not a head-to-toe aero designed helmet, balaclava hooded, bandana gaiter wearin', skin tight bike-wear, advertisin' patched, belly and love-handle showing, trendy, conventional looking bike rider; I do have A LOT of seasons and experience riding bikes and how a bike actually works. And I absolutely put mega-miles on my bike. That being said; I don't think Customer's should be talked-down to or even talked out-of issues about their own bikes? Usually no-one is gonna know your bike better than you on the whole. It's kinda like knowing your pet? To be constructive in my criticism/opinions; I suggest it would be better for all Employees at Campus Cycle to generally "LEAD" with Questions FIRST about issues and concerns from the customers. I actually observed, while I had to wait in a que, employees advise and "opinionate" to the customers before really giving them a chance to explain themselves. We all know once in a while you're gonna get someone chatty about their bikes and biking adventures. That's customer service. Some Details: I got the Polka-Dot Jersey Tune ($140) with an emphasis to Sam that it was very important to make sure the gear-shift mechanisms were adjusted and repaired. It seemed like an "act of congress" to get him to acknowledge that for me or even witness him noting it down somewhere/somehow? I'm not sure that he even heard me really? I just got a lot of re-buttle to talking me 'out-of' repairs. Which I assume had to do with the Covid-Influenced, back-log of service and repairs? After putting a $50 deposit down on 8/24th to secure a service appt. for 9/15th, one brake pad set, a new chain, Polka-Dot Jersey Tune, ETC., the total came to $190.46. No chump-change to say the least. But what perplexed me to no end; was that I turned the bike in for the repairs (actual date of 9/14) around 2PM-ish and got a text that the bike was ready for pickup around 4:45PM-ish that same day!? That seemed mighty quick!? You'd think I would be pleased? But with the Polka-Dot Jersey Tune, it states (in part) the point-services; "Full drive-train removal and cleaning, including front & rear derailleurs, chain, crank, & cassette..." *note: I attached a jpg pic of the receipt* I'm no Sherlock, but seemed to me with the procedural tasks of making an appt. w/deposit weeks ahead, backed up service, long waiting ques, removing and cleaning a "Full Drive train", I wasn't gonna get my bike back properly 'fully serviced and repaired' in one day!? As a matter of fact, I was prepared for longer and preferred them to take their time. When I picked up the bike, the gear shifts and chains were still slipping. Even more than before! If they had test ridden the bike (if they even do that?) it would have come to their attention almost immediately they still weren't working properly. It was actually worse than before I took it in. I have no doubt in my mind they just put on the new chain and brake pad, washed it a little with simple green, lubed it up, but not much else?? I only have to get hit in the head by a 2x4 once and just don't wanna bother with any reconciliations from them if offered? I already feel a fool. It may be assumptive at this point, because of I-said/They-said; but I think the opportunity in this case, was to make it all right in my first visit and not send me off with another hardship. Sam said in the end, to bring it on back if I have any troubles. I honestly would rather lick a cheese grater than deal with that bunch again at Campus Cycles. That experience was enough to make up my mind. I'm gonna just chalk it up and hope the House and Senate eventually sends more Covid relief checks to make up for my perceived loss! LOL! read more

Sam in Service was extremely knowledgeable and really helpful. Nice to see a neighborhood family owned bike shop doing great service and provide excellent customer service this day in age. I came about 25 mins away and am really glad I made the effort to come down to Campus Cycles. If you need your bike fixed- this is the shop to go visit!! I just moved up to the Observatory Park area and got my bike out for exercise. I noticed upon riding it that the chain was jumping a bit. I did a bit of googling but couldn't see the issue. I called Campus and they told me to come down. This was during the Coronavirus Spring pandemic. All the employees had face coverings and wore gloves. They had their quick check shop setup outside and were handling only one customer at a time in the store. All-in-all very well handled, and every employee was really friendly and helpful. I saw them bring a new bike out to a customer and it had clearly been wiped down completely before leaving. They were super friendly and when my turn came he had me up and running in about 5m, and the bike gears and ride are smooth. I asked the cost and was told it was "goodwill". I definitely plan to be back, hopefully without my bike, and with a little goodwill return. read more

Awesome place to buy a bike (or just ask all your cycling questions)! I went all over town trying to find a place to check out bikes, obviously given the pandemic and all this was a challenging task. Campus Cycles was so helpful over the phone, when I first called to see what they had in stock they were patient, asked me important questions about what I was looking for, and offered to hold a bike or two for me to come in and check out. They were even better in person! Staff was patient, knowledgeable and very accommodating to this first time new bike buyer. As someone who rides a lot but knows very little about the cycling world, this bike shop was a perfect place for me to upgrade to a great bike that fits my needs. They ordered a bike for me the same day, and it was here and assembled before I could say coronavirus. Speaking of the 'rona, they followed Covid guidelines safely and conscientiously. As a healthcare provider, I felt the whole shop was safe and sanitary, and very professionally conducted despite these crazy times. I recently messed up my bikes gears and derailleur. I brought it to campus cycle to get it fixed! They gave me run down what they had to replace so I knew what I was paying for. It was not crazy expensive compared to some other places. I think it's very affordable for repairing. Highly recommend this place for bike repairs. I took my bike to Campus Cycles to be boxed up for a move. When I arrived in my new city, and took the bile to a shop to be assembled, that is where the complications started. First, campus cycles left out many parts of the bike in packing, about $200 worth of parts. Secondly, they broke the brake system when packing. Luckily, the bike shop on the other end seems to have more care, and replaced and fixed the brakes for $200. It should have been more. I contacted Campus Cycles many times to rectify the incident to no avail. Unfortunately I am not in the Denver area to deal in person, but I would avoid. No interest in customer service or doing the right thing for it's customers. read more

We were looking for a Strider Balance bike for our grandson for Christmas. We checked a couple of stores near us but didn't find the Strider brand. While near the DU Campus we stopped in at Campus Cycles and talked to Ned. Campus Cycles had a great selection of balance bikes and a variety bike colors. Ned gave us the upside of the balance bike for young kids learning to ride a bike. Our grandson is 2 1/2 and at the perfect age. Campus Cycles also had a variety of electric bikes. Bought me a used Specialized road bike a while back that ended up needing some love. I decided to take it to campus cycles because of its reputation. The bike ended up needing a lot more love than I suspected. The crew at the shop pointed out the issues to me and made things happen. I was able to lay away the bike with the team. Unfortunately or fortunately for me I located the bike in El Paso Texas in 52. After I drove out pickup the bike from Los Angeles. Did you know I'm a bit impulsive? Okay, well in case you didn't know, I'm kind of impulsive. I decided that it was finally time to buy a bike (sorry, B-Cycle) and without doing a ton of research, I went straight to Campus Cycles on the recommendation of a friend. Because I had a budget in mind, I knew I could only look at a certain section of bikes, and even though I wanted to go crazy getting bike accessories (they offer you 10% off all future purchases, if I remember right, so that's a nice bonus), I just started with the basics. I still need a basket, just in case anyone has one lying around. :) Wyndam, Winston....I can't remember your name, but you were pretty spectacular getting me hooked up with my new electra, who I have christened Bluebell, and patient helping me figure out how to fit it into one of numerous vehicles. If you're a bike newb like me, I would recommend going with someone who knows their stuff so you don't end up buying a bunch of things you don't need. Although subtle, I felt like there was some pressure (not from my buddy W) to buy some accessories that didn't necessarily make sense for me. Iv have been to this store several times over the last 4 years and have even bought a Trek Fuel mountain bike there, Iv had a great experiences with the staff and have also left thinking not so highly of the place. Iv had several experiences with their maintenance crew and have always been satisfied. I went there to buy a fat bike this past winter and got very little help, I prob looked homeless in my sweats but I had $2500 in my pocket. Turns out, it worked out great because I got a better deal later that day somewhere else. My only true complaint on the place is the very limited maintenance you get when buying a new bike, the place I did buy my fat bike has a 5 year tune up plan with a new bike and since then Iv even heard of life time tune ups. makes me wish I bought my fuel some where else. read more

Colin is a rockstar at bike service as well as customer service. I bought a new Litespeed Ti frame online to replace the old Trek Carbon frame.5500 that had run its course after 17 years. Colin got to the bottom bracket and crank set that I needed Installed in a couple of days. What I got when I returned was a perfect installation and the rest of the assorted nuts bolts and cables to.put this new bike right. I've since transferred all the components of the old bike on to the lightspeed and will ride it tomorrow! Thanks guys, you rock! read more
