I seen a black older woman leaving this facility after getting their services done. She was screaming and yelling.... Pulling and kicking her animals as she left the building. I went in and reported her behavior to the business...... who said they would contact the police and file a report. I waited in the parking lot and nobody showed to take a report. When I first began to take my dog to the Velvet Bow grooming, it was organized, caring, and the groomers did a skilled job of trimming my dog's fur. Over a period of maybe 3 years, things at this grooming business have deteriorated badly. When I picked up my dog after a " full groom" early in spring, parts of her fur trim were left undone. That's easy enough to fix. But The last time I brought my dog in for a full groom was June 2024. At the same moment when I took my dog into reception area, an elderly woman walked in with a huge Irish Wolfhound. The dog was out of control! ( Velvet Bow grooming salon is tiny. The grooming tables area is about 12 feet by 12 feet. There's no space to accommodate a giant dog. Irish Wolfhounds are one of the world's largest known breeds! Why would Velvet Bow agree to groom a dog of this size when there wasn't any room for it???) The owner saw the look of alarm on my face when this huge dog came into the place, so she pushed MY dog across the floor into a cage...like it was a sack of potatoes! Several hours later, when my dogs groom session was done, I came in to pick up my dog. While waiting for them to bring my pup out to the reception area, one poor little brown poodle was left on a grooming table alone with the control strap around its neck. It slipped off the table and hung by the neck from the strap...hung there struggling in mid air. The hook holding the neck strap and the dog was about 4+ feet off the ground. It finally wiggled loose and fell 4 feet to the floor. The owner saw it fall but only yelled at the employee. She did NOT come over to the poodle to check if the hanging and the fall injured it! I'm never bringing my dog there again. The way things were done was chaotic; and the attitude of employee/management indifference to the distress of customer's dogs was unfortunate. read more

Vicky of Velvet Bow was so incredibly kind and helpful when a stray dog appeared in my yard. He was a disaster, matted everywhere. My husband and I did our best with scissors, but he needed a LOT of work. Vicky got us in the very next morning. I think one of the biggest worries people have when bringing their animal to a groomer is "will they be treated kindly" and "what if they are a handful"? I can tell you 110% that everyone here is incredibly kind and loving to the animals here. It turns out our incredibly neglected pup hasn't been touched much, and likely never groomed. So he was more than a handful. When he was too tired to continue, they gave him a break. When he had attitude after the break, they didn't try to force anything. Instead they called me and gave me the chance to help. Vicky was able to get all of his mats out, and though he didn't let us safely near his face he got a really nice bath. All of the other dogs were happy and getting nice baths and hair cuts. It seemed like some great team work was happening. Over all I was so thankful for Vickys help, and I know this pup is much more comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this business to anyone. read more

I just moved to the east side of town and was looking for a new groomer for my standard poodle. I found this place on google and boy am I glad I did! I called for an appointment and they had availability the next morning!!! My girl is 8months old and she's had quite a few haircuts already but never were they quite up to par at the other groomers I have taken her to. I'm so impressed with this place I could tell they treated my girl right and her haircut is EXACTLY what I wanted. I love the clean feet cut but other groomers I have tried in town haven't been as successful at getting all the hair but these ladies did! We had made an appointment for both of dogs and never showed up. When we made an appointment we confirmed our phone number and address. I had to called a different location and stated they would call me back. The owner did and did not apologize for the inconvenience, instead explained that the groomer had an emergency. I scheduled an appointment with Velvet Bow's Mobile Grooming and was given a 2 to 2:30 time slot. Two days before the appointment, they called to confirm the appointment window. Three hours before my appointment window the groomer texted to ask if she could come then. I did not immediately respond to the text and moments later, the groomer texted, "I'm sorry that I missed you if you would like to reschedule your appointment with us please give us a call back at the mobile number I can get you on the schedule for Tuesday between 12:30 and 1 if you would like." When I saw the text, I responded that my appointment window was 2 to 2:30 and I expected them to keep the appointment that was scheduled. The groomer did not show up and didn't respond to my text. Do not use them, they are unreliable and unprofessional. read more

Would never use this service again. They misused a belly band on my dog and pinched her intestines and damaged her dew claw as well. Had severe stomach problems as well as pain in foot and had to put dog down because of this. I would sue them for doing this to my lovely dog, but didn't think of it at the time and had my dog cremated. Now I am without my best friend. Think before you use this service AND ask to see inside the mobile van and how they use their equipment. In a little over an hour, my dog was damaged. read more

I appreciate how they got me in when everyone else is closed. Very close to my house so that also helps. Inside was clean and staff was welcoming. My little dog was not scared to go back with them at all. Only took a few hours and she looked pretty good. The only thing I worry about is that they did not require any vaccine record's. All my animals are vaccinated and I'm sure a majority are but what happens if one isn't? I just hope clients do not bring animals who are showing any signs and the staff recognizes if something isn't right. read more

They do a great job on my dogs and listen to what we ask. They are very kind and gentle with the animals which is much appreciated.

The only reason I gave a 3 is because their website lists their pet grooming services by size of animal and any extras you may want, what they fail to list is the fact that they charge $50. extra for the mobile service + the grooming fee. That was a real surprise considering that I have been using a mobile service for over 4 years and never had to pay an extra fee. Speaking with the owner that I was taken back by the $50. extra and that the web site doesn't mention it, she informed me that they did not have their fees on line. They left my dogs in cages for over 5 hours--that's not acceptable to me... and although the grooming was good--it wasn't worth the expense.

After using this service approximately 6 months, the groomer shows up on an appointment and tells us that the owner has decided we were being undercharged (we were supposedly receiving a military discount). The new cost would be $70. Sadly, the service was questionable to begin with. Groomers gave haphazard, ragged cuts. But the convenience seemed to be worth having to clean up the cuts personally. Insult to injury was after requesting different groomers (which they encouraged), they decide to bump up the cost from $54 to $70. Bad business. read more

Cara came out to our house to groom our poodle Emma and bathe our beagle Sally. She did a great job with both. She was quick and the dogs both looked great, smelled good, and even had nicely trimmed nails. As military veterans, we even get a 10% discount so the reasonable prices were even more reasonable. My first home visit with Velvet Bow was a good one, so eventually they got around to allowing me to make another appointment; however, when my poodle and my mother's poodle were visited by a completely different person from the original visit, things did not turn out the same. Unfortunately, neither my mother nor I was happy with the second visit. I also did not understand why, if one is making appointments for specific areas, those of us in Vail are required to pay an extra $20 per home visit. It would make more sense to schedule all of the Vail visits on the same days, which would eliminate the need for the extra charge. We will not be using this inconsistent company again. read more
