I brought my deaf long haired dachshund puppy, Leia (8 months old) in for the first time, not only to Karabu, but her first grooming experience ever. I was nervous at first as Leia has never been groomed before...but they EXCEEDED my expectations!! Leia was born deaf and because of that, not everyone knows how to communicate with her. New experiences can be extra scary for her, but Karabu was great with her!! Not only does Leia look beautiful, but she left with a big smile on her face and feels just as beautiful as she looks! They were very nice and welcoming to us! Wish I had a 'before' and 'after' photo of our sweet girl from her visit this first week of 2024. She was very matted, as doodles can do (despite our efforts to detangle), but especially because we hesitated a month due to the canine issue /virus in other states. She looked like an abandoned sheepdog! Kara did a great job. Everything had to go short including her ears! Our girl is so happy. She's 12 now and did zoomies all day and night celebrating. Haha! We have been going to Karabu Pet Grooming for nearly 10 years with our beloved little mutt terrier, Oliver. Kara and Patrick always did a great job with Oliver, especially because he was a bit skeptical of the whole grooming thing in the beginning. After he passed last year we adopted a fancy Australian Labradoodle puppy and we were told how difficult it is to find a good groomer for the types of cuts they needed, not to mention that they need grooming quite often. Once again, we started at Karabu. The first time we took Hairistotle (Harry) there Kara took extra time to go slowly and give Harry a good experience for his first introduction to grooming. It worked because when we took him back a couple of months later, he behaved like a champ and received a full "sport cut" so that he could go camping and swimming with us in a few weeks. I couldn't be happier with how he looks and how gently he is treated. Definitely 5 stars! read more

We took our 1 year old blue heeler to Karabu for his first grooming and we are so happy with the result. For our dog's first grooming, we wanted her to have a great experience. I read a lot of reviews and did a ton of research to be sure that it would be a good balance of a thorough grooming and a happy puppy. Our Hazel wagged her tail at the people who approached her when we went inside, which gave us a calming dose of "this might just be OK after all." It was about 90 minutes later when they gave us a call that she was ready for pick up. Hazel looked and smelled great! While she was clearly happy to see us, she also looked to be in no hurry to leave. I'm sure the treats they offered were not missed on her. We will definitely go back to Karabu grooming! read more

If you have a larger dog I highly don't recommend you bring them here. I had my German shepherd/husky groomed there the other day and since then he started limping. I had to take him to the Vet ER two days after because he could barely stand and kept collapsing. 5 hours and 400 dollars later he was diagnosed with a badly bruised back and is now on several pain medications. He also has bloody scabs all over his head and neck. read more

In the 8+ years I have had my Charlie Bear, he has had to go to the groomer at least every 2-3 months for a full bath, cut, and nail trim. He is 12.5 years old, has always had anxiety, hates it when people touch his face or paws, but is generally sweet, albeit very shaky. I have never been able to find him a groomer who takes their time and is gentle, caring, and patient with him. He currently can't spend much time standing and he has advanced dementia, so I knew taking him in to be groomed might be a very stressful endeavor for both he and the groomer. I had an appointment with another groomer who ghosted me for a month, so Charlie was overdue for a cut as well. Karabu had a cancellation that was really convenient for me, and I jumped on it after reading the other reviews here. After talking to them on the phone, I felt confident that they were different than other groomers in Tucson. After picking Charlie up last week I realized that they are, indeed, very special groomers. Not only were they so kind to him, but they were kind to me too as they listened to what I wanted to tell them and did such a great job on his grooming I can't wait to take him back. Karabu seems to be a family run business and they took great care of our English Bulldog Baxter. They got all his nails(which is a challenge) and gave him a great trim and bath. I absolutely love Karabu pet grooming and never want to go to another groomer because of them! The staff is kind and compassionate and take amazing care of my 12 year old shih tzu, Maggie. Although it takes a few months to get in, the wait is totally worth it and can only imagine it's because they are loved by so many Tucson pet parents. After reading all of the other reviews, I decided to take my chiweenie here for his first professional cut. The building is small and I probably wouldn't have noticed it just driving down Grant, but I'm so glad I found it! They were fantastic with scheduling, even when I called shortly after to reschedule the appointment for the following day. The folks who work at this little shop are so knowledgeable and incredibly kind. As first time dog owners my boyfriend and I were nervous to take our dog in for a nail trim but they put us at ease right away. Our rescue baby has some problems that we knew about but they made sure we were aware of them which is so kind and helpful to people who may not know as much about their animal! I've had my dog groomed here twice. The groomers are such nice people. They took all of our information when I came in to make us a customer card. They trimmed his nails, bathed him, and even put a cute little bow on him so he looked like a gift! The next time that I tried to make an appointment with them, it was near the holidays, so they were pretty booked. However, they made an effort to contact me to reschedule whenever they had a cancellation. I appreciated that so much. When I brought my dog in, they were so gentle with him as to not scare him when they took him out of my arms. He didn't whine or anything. When he was finished, they called me to let me know that I could come pick him up. When I got there, he was in a kennel happily awaiting my arrival. First impressions are lasting impressions. So when an employee opens the rear door to my vehicle and drags my dog on her back, by the leash from the front seat to the back seat by a male employee, that was the first red flag. The second was when I phoned the owner and she took no ownership or concern for the situation. Since she neglected to hang up the phone, I could hear the conversation that took place that included a dialogue filled with inaccuracies and comments about my over reaction to the situation. Upon picking my dog up the plausible explanation was framed by COVID-19 practices that are not standard. The owner did come out as well as the male employee who managed to offer a less than heart-felt apology. That being said, the young employee whose job is to meet the customers and confirm information was very professional and respectful and the groomer did an acceptable job. I honestly think this business needs to be investigated. If they will treat animals like that in the presence of the owner, what do they do behind closed doors? No animal and no client deserves to be treated as we were. Beware. read more

Wow. Yelp did not lead my astray with this one! I usually groom my parents' dogs myself, but I hadn't gotten around to it for a little while, and one of them, Waffles, was just going to be too much work for me to deal with in the kiddie pool in the backyard. I Yelped dog groomers, and these guys were the top of the list. I called and Patrick was able to get me in for the next day. I picked up Waffles, and drove on over. While pulling up, I wasn't super sure about this place. I was planning an escape. But then I remembered hearing the groomers in the background while I was making the appointment, and how nice and happy they sounded, and the reviews, and I went on in. It's a small place, but it's really clean! The groomer came out, got our info, gave me a magnet and said he would be done around five. I went back in at five, and saw a really cute dog in the kennel in the front. I remarked to myself that he was a cutie and wondered what kind of dog he was. Then I realized he was my dog! (And we have not even an iota of an inkling of what breed he is!) They groomed him so well! He was clean, soft, and actually styled for the first time since we found him in the desert and had him groomed. They even put a cute little bow on him, expressed his glands, did his nails....my dog got the works for $45. They gave me some treats to bring home with us and a $5 off coupon for next time, too. This place is a classic "don't judge a book by it's cover, or a grooming salon by it's exterior" situation. I was so glad that I didn't flee and actually stuck it out, because Waffles looks awesome, and was clearly pretty happy after his day of pampering! read more
