Amazing service, got rejected from Petco for a nail trim due to my dog barking and acting aggressive and they are unable to muzzle there, called for a walk in at velvet and they were able to see us right away! The first time I when my dog had tears... I just thought it was because it was his first time. Plus I was told that his haircut was going to be almost nothing since he needed to be introduced to the grooming, I agreed. When I picked him up. I didn't like the style of haircut so I just made a comment saying he looked like an old man. I love my dog so of course I was all excited for him. The next time I was asked if I wanted the same thing... so I said no I want something more round. The groomer (not saying her name) got offended and she said " YOU SAID YOU LIKED IT" I reminded her of the comment. I told my husband that they were hurt because from there I was received with attitude in the shop and over the phone. As soon as I walked in and I got acknowledgment... the first thing out of their mouth was passive aggression. I still made an appointment because I did not wanted to add to the attitude. read more

Multiple locations and a mobile unit after many years still doing well. I decided to give this business my business- washing and grooming my Akita. The location is convenient and easy to find. Walking in, it's a no frills establishment; that's fine with me - we didn't go for the frills. "H" was given a very warm welcome and we were told they'd call when he's done, in about an hour or so! An hour or so! "P" always take up to 4 hours! They said we'll see; we'll call you. Hmmm; sure enough, about 2 hrs later we're notified "H" is ready to go home. About 15 minutes later we collect a freshly washed, dried and combed dog! He was happy to see us as were we to get a clean sweet floof back. The rates are reasonable and with a military discount even more affordable. We've booked his next "spa" date; what does that tell you!. The ladies there were great as well as the service provided. Did I mention there were two other doggos being groomed when we took our fur child in? And the staff still got our pooch "done" in the time indicated. Highly recommended establishment! read more

I just moved to the east side of town and was looking for a new groomer for my standard poodle. I found this place on google and boy am I glad I did! My girl is 8months old and she's had quite a few haircuts already but never were they quite up to par at the other groomers I have taken her to. I'm so impressed with this place I could tell they treated my girl right and her haircut is EXACTLY what I wanted. I love the clean feet cut but other groomers I have tried in town haven't been as successful at getting all the hair but these ladies did! We have been taking our dog to Velvet Bow on Harrison for over a year now. They usually do a fairly decent job but sometimes take hours even though we have always made an appointment. Today they were very timely in getting her done but increased their price 15% without telling us up front. We brought both our fur-babies in for their semi annual cuts. I did some looking around for a new pet groomer for us and found Velvet Bow was one we wanted to try. I called for an appointment and was expecting to hear "we have an opening 2 weeks from now" but instead I heard "I can get you guys in 2 days". That was awesome. Fern met us and told us she would be the person taking care of babies that day. She was so friendly and seemed knowledgeable. She asked us exactly how we wanted them cut and she knew exactly what we're were wanting. Normally we take our babies to a "corporate" place and when we get our dogs back they seem so depressed and angry. When we came in to pick them up from Velvet Bow they both seemed like they enjoyed themselves and were actually happy. Great grooming shop! My mother took all 3 off her Schnauzers to this facility for their regular grooming. Shop is neat, clean, odor free, warm & inviting. Staff are friendly and very well versed in their craft. These groomers are familiar with appropriate breed standard cuts or maybe you like something custom for your pet, they can do it! I have used the salon and mobile grooming for both personal use and with our Rescue group. Vikki (the owner) and her staff are always helpful and caring. Our deaf dog who suffers from separation anxiety was comforted by them and quickly whisked through. His transformation was incredible. Reasonable prices and excellent service. For the Bear Canyon and Tanque Verde Location: As a two year patron, I'm so disappointed in one of the employees at Velvet Bow Groomers. First impression of this employee, she was on her phone while in the middle of grooming a small dark grey poodle and the poor thing was just shaking. Second, we brought in our two dogs, which they are a larger breeds, and we overheard this same employee say, "Oh great, two large dogs.", very sarcastically. Look, I can take my dogs to another groomers if they're not going to be welcomed at this place. My dogs are like family. I want to take them to a place where they are welcomed and I have the confidence that the employees will treat my babies right. read more

It took me weeks to find a decent place to get my cats hair cut at. I guess most people think it's unusual for a cat to get grommets since they "do it themselves" haha. I took her in for a lion cut she was beyond matted and the staff was friendly and the cut was amazing! Their prices are spot on. I will definitely be taking her here from now on. The staff at Velvet Bow are wonderful! All 3 of our babies get groomed here, and we've been going for years. First off, you can be assured that your pet will be treated like one of their own. These people love dogs, and it shows. The dogs are always happy and excited when you go in, and we've not ever had any issues whatsoever. The staff are patient and listen, they always ask questions and make sure that you are completely satisfied with their work. Their grooming is excellent and they really know how to bring the personality out of each of our 3 different breeds. They always have our babies finished when they say they will. Very negative experience with grooming at Velvet Bow on Harrison. Shop seemed unorganized and there were way too many dogs in there at the same time. Dogs in back barking and upset, poor dog getting a bath was crying and needed comfort. Usual wait time to pick up pets is about an hour which is important to me and the main reason I selected Velvet Bow. Dogs where there today almost 4 hours in cages. My dog's cut was outrageous and clearly done by someone without experience. I won't be returning and would not recommend to anyone. read more

At first I thought she looked great but after getting her home I noticed that they didn't trim the hair in between the pads on her feet, trim her nails or tail, and didn't shorten the length of the hair on her ears. Took my Peke, Miss Dolly, in for a good bath and cut 5 days ago..she still smells wonderful and her fur is so silky! They did an excellent job with her, she was so relaxed no stress. Other places have cut her so close in the peri area that she has trouble walking/urinating..no problem here! Also took our Pit/Lab 80lbs never been to be groomed as i always did it at home..he was beside himself happy, they talked to him and he was in love. They were also able to cut his nails with minimal fuss. He hates his feet touched but you could hear them talking to him and soothing him all the time he was crying they were killing him. But after he was all wags and kisses. I highly recommend them. He still smells great too! Best bath ever! Ladies you were fantastic!! read more
