It was overall so clean too with trash cans lining the neighborhood. There is so much foot traffic and car traffic here so that was a surprise! I really loved seeing the canned drive container too! Thanks to the Gemini community for opening their neighborhood to us all! My only suggestion would be portapotties but I'm sure that would be an added expense. Maybe if it was token driven to help offset costs?

My favorite was the house with the dog theme, they even had pup Christmas carols playing! Some residents also get involved as part of the experience. One was driving an old style classic truck with a Christmas tree and Santa in the trunk bed. Another was dressed as Santa riding around on a Segway wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. There were a few food vendors, from residents setting up a stand to sell cookies and hot cocoa to food trucks. We started right as the sun set and it was the perfect time as there was less crowd. Although some houses had not turn on their display at that time we were able to see it on the way back to the car. I find it much more enjoyable to walk than to drive. You get an up close view and can really appreciate the efforts that is put into it.

So, it's best to grab brunch or visit nearby sites like Serra Cross or the Ventura Pier before you shop. There are free parking lots in the area, but by the time we headed over around 11:30 am, all the free spots were taken, so we used the metered parking which was pretty reasonable. Mission San Buenaventura is located on Main Street and offers services. The church is beautiful and Sunday service was very well attended. You'll also find many thrift and antique stores with reasonable prices. I loved that Main Street included a variety of stores and restaurants without including the cheesy and touristy gift shops. We had an enjoyable lunch at Immigrant Son caffe, purchased some sodas at a really cool candy store called Rocket Fizz and visited Very Ventura, a gift shop with a nice collection of Ventura related gifts. I purchased some stickers for my Yeti and a hat.

Now as I visit as a (dare I say..."Tourist") I get to enjoy the beach full time. Why is this one the best you ask? Well, it stretches out for about 50 feet before the water gets deep. This makes it perfect for kids who want to play in water but can't swim. Also the parking is only $2 per hour. And it's normally extremely chill here. Never too busy or crowded. The seafood restaurant is also really great and fresh! I love it here and if I was rich I'd buy a home across the street.

There are tons of beaches one can visit, but I had a list of certain ones to check out on this visit. We stayed at the military base for lodging, so this beach was only a few minutes in close proximity. They do have paid parking, just read the signs for payment. We parked on the street for free. There is a bathroom if needed, nothing fancy. We enjoyed the beach, it was crowed at all, which was a plus. There is a wide area to reach the beach, so be prepared to walk abit. I definitely would revisit if I'm in the area.

MOOD: Getting hangry and ready to check this place out! #YAY REVIEW: I am so excited to have finally stopped here! I was cautious as the line to enter is ^always out the door and around the way, but the line moved fast this day! Awesome! Service: It was awesome. Pleasantly and happily surprised for the genuine friendliness and help. I had asked for a few recommendations as I was a first timer and every staff member was a great help. I observed the interactions from other staff with other customers and the service was bar none. Return customer made! Food: I omitted to get the name of my sandwich! It was the egg sandwich and it was excellent, highly recommend. The chicken and waffle was incredible! The seasoning on the chicken blew my mind. I am ordering that next visit, for sure. Ambiance: Nice, open, airy, light seating. My only note is that it gets ^quite loud inside. Not a ding against anyone or anything, I just struggled to conversate with my party. Review: I couldn't recommend Immigrant Son Caffe more! Can't wait to return to order the chicken and waffles!

A good sized space with outdoor seating that loops around one corner. Once seated the waitress came by shortly to get our drink order however it took a little while to get our food order in though. We got the Breakfast charcuterie, Focaccia Chicken Sandwich, Smoked salmon eggs Benedict and Basque cheesecake. All were delicious! At the end of the meal we also got a complimentary pizzelle cookie. Loved the decor and ambiance, the flags and art gave a very European feel. Service was mostly good, our waitress was friendly and checked on us regularly. They have a location in Ventura as well, so I will try that location next time.

Or maybe too many tables for her. I'll give her grace. She just was bothered any time we asked for something, so it completely ruined the experience. It took forever for her to come and take our order. Probably 30 minutes and we chatting enjoying each other's company but still. She didn't check in on us and we needed to ask the busboy for water as well. He was wonderful and friendly. The restaurant itself is nice. Great view of the marina however service needs work. Additionally, some food is premade as some dishes were out in like 5 minutes and my friend's Alfredo with grilled chicken took way longer to come out. We all waited to eat until she got her food as we all wanted to have dinner together as a friend date. We all wanted to ate together! My dish was a shrimp pesto pasta which was $35. Def more expensive than other restaurants but a huge portion. I didn't order any cocktails. I would come back and see if improved at a later date. It's fam owned, so check it out and see what you think.
