I have been going to Vera for all of my clothes for so many years now that I can't even remember when I didn't know her. I am totally shocked at the negative review by Brooke R, South Hadley. She must be talking about someone other than the Vera all the rest of us know. I hope that smart people will read all of the other reviews and realize that there is something very wrong with Brooke R. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but she is so far off base it's ridiculous. It is also horrible that she is slandering the name and business of such a wonderful person, who really takes pride in her work and would never be rude to anyone. If Vera was so rude, why did Brooke R even go back to her. I saw this comment and spoke with Vera about it because it upset her terribly. This woman had a black dress for her wedding??? That was what all of this baloney is about. If you know the whole story, or if you ever have the opportunity to meet Vera and utilize her services, you will agree that no one does a better job, is sweeter than Vera, and works so hard that she will not leave her shop until all of her work is done. I never wait for anything and she has even altered items for me without me being there to try on the dress/outfit in front of her. That's how much of a professional she is. She can take one look at your body style and know what needs to be done. Please people, totally disregard the comments of Brooke R. Vera does not deserve to be degraded like that. I have been bringing my clothes to Vera for tailoring for several years now. Hands down, she's one of the best seamstresses you'll ever find! One of my favorite pairs of jeans had what appeared to be a broken button, thereby beyond repair, but I figured what the heck might as well drop them off to see if she can fix them and before I knew it, I received a call that they were all set! I was thrilled! On another occasion, Vera hemmed a very long skirt. We wondered whether we should add slits in the sides but decided against it. As I wore it however, it became clear that no slits made it too restrictive to walk so I brought the skirt back and without hesitation, Vera agreed to add the slits at no further cost. I could go on and on with the stories, but I think you get the picture. I'll end with Vera's character and why I so enjoy bringing my clothes to her: she's very professional, kind, warm, authentic, and reasonably priced. Thank you Vera!!! I cannot tell you how amazing Vera was. I had a special situation because I am pregnant, so the alterations could not be done too far in advance due to my growing belly. Vera said it was no problem, that we would do the fitting 2 weeks before the wedding, and that would give her plenty of time. 4 days after I had gone in for the fitting, she called to say the dress was ready. I went back for another fitting, and she wasn't 100% satisfied with the way the bust came out (I thought it was fine!) She took a few extra minutes to sew some stitches, and lo and behold, the dress suddenly was flush to my bust, not sticking out. This wasn't even anything I realized could be fixed! She also added a bustle and took in the dress everywhere (I had bought it very big due to my pregnancy). I highly recommend Vera for any alterations you may need: wedding, prom, or just a dress you love that doesn't fit quite right. read more

My daughter from Boston experienced a bride's worst nightmare! She had her wedding dress altered in Boston and the seamstress altered it too small. She couldn't even zip it! She called me absolutely panicked. The wedding was less than a month away. I had used Vera's in the past and reached out to her for help. She was so sympathetic and made an appointment for my daughter to come in that Saturday. She was so patient and kind but the best part came when she studied the dress, inside and out, took measurements and eventually told us she could help. Two weeks later we are in for the try-on and voila! The dress fit perfectly!! My daughter's relief and joy were palpable. We both started crying. In life you get what you pay for!!! Vera is truly amazing at what she does. She completely saved my dress after a different place in Enfield messed it up, and I honestly couldn't believe the transformation. She didn't just fix it, she made it look even better than it did originally, and she did it all in less than 48 hours. She's a true expert and clearly knows everything about dresses. Vera was able to resize my wedding gown within 1 week! I had a gown 2 sizes too large that was covered in beadwork and she was able to take the whole thing in. She was very kind and thoughtful in her recommendations on how to take it in. She did high quality work on a quick turnaround (my wedding isn't for 8 weeks but she worked very quickly anyway). I brought my wedding dress to Vera for some alterations and she was very kind and professional. She did the work a lot quicker than she told me it would take and I was very happy with her work. She altered the top and sides of my dress so well that I couldn't even tell that it was altered. It looked like I purchased it off the rack that way. She clearly is an expert at her craft. I had two dresses. One needed pretty significant alterations and Vera did an AMAZING JOB. Sleeves taken off, hemmed, and bust closed a little. She added a part of the sleeve to make the transition look seamless. Would recommend her in a heart beat. read more
