Bagged apples were rotten. Discovered it when arrived home on Friday and they had leaked all over the car and house. Called and was told to take a photograph ( I mentioned I had no receipt ) and bring to the manager for store credit. When I went back on Monday I was told that I needed to bring the rotten apples back! The pic wasn't good enough??? They were already in the trash and who wants to travel with garbage??? On our way home, my wife and I stopped here to grab some produce to take home. They have a cool little deli inside. I decided to get a couple of Italian hoagies while she got the produce. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had to wait in line (about 10 minutes) to place my order. The line is for hoagies only. I figured this was a good sign. 3 people taking the orders, the person that takes your order makes your hoagie(s). Friendly woman took my order and a few minutes later I had two huge hoagies. I had to wait a half hour to place my deli order due to understaffing. I asked for my American cheese to be sliced thick When I went to use it it was sliced so thinly that you can't separate it. I called to try to resolve the issue. After 15 minutes on hold I finally got to talk to the deli manager. I told her that next time I get down there I'll bring back the cheese so they can replace it. Their policy is seven days. I explained to her that I'd have to make a special trip and waste my time and gas for a four dollar purchase. She didn't care. I went an hour before lunch rush and there were only two people ahead of me who had already ordered their hoagies. With 3 people making sandwiches, it still took them 35 minutes to just take my order. As the line was growing behind me, the people working there acknowledged it getting longer, but did nothing about it. The women stopped everything they were doing to have personal conversations multiple times. The guy disappeared for about 10 minutes and then came back and then took his time refilling a mustard jar before taking my order. While I was telling him what I wanted, he kept cutting me off and asking about things I hadn't gotten to yet, which just wound up confusing us both. Then he stopped making it several times to wander off and chat with other employees. It wouldn't be so bad if they at least apologized for taking so long or said "I'll be right with you," but there was no self-awareness at all of the fact that it shouldn't take that long to take a sandwich order. In the time it took for me to finally get my hoagie, I could have driven to ShopRite, applied for a job, gone on a second interview, gotten hired, gone back to the deli, made my own hoagie, eaten it, and taken a power nap afterwards. There's no excuse at all for their level of slowness. The outside smells like stagnant water, their aisles are too narrow and people are always getting jammed, they're always running out of carts during the busy times, the checkout line is almost always total chaos, the parking lot is treacherous to get in and out of during rush hour because of the circle, and many of the people who work there are just very unfriendly. The one good thing is that their produce tends to last slightly longer than Produce Junction, which is the only reason I'm not giving them 1 star. read more

Vercchio's is "The" produce stop in the area between Woodbury and Camden. Huge quantities of fruits and vegetables that's sold so cheap that the next lowest price would be free. Even restaurant owners shop here for the items that they cook with. There's a deli in the back that have really good quality meats and cheeses at very low prices. This market also sell every seasonal items from Christmas trees, to roses for valentines day, to potted plants and flowers for Easter and Mother's Day. Bagged mulch and potted plants and vegetables for your garden. Need any other incentive to stop in to look around? I seriously doubt it... The prices can't be found much cheaper. read more

The produce has been really fresh lately & the prices in the winter are incredible. They are always busy regardless of time or day, which probably accounts for the improved quality. Of course the circle & parking lot are still an exciting adventure in cheating death, yet where else in January can you get Driscoll raspberries for 2 bucks and strawberries for $1.75? A bag of squash at the supermarket right now can easily run you $6 but here it's only 2. I've been going regularly the past few months and decided I prefer going on the weekends. Although it's a fight to get a parking spot, you can find things like baby arugula, cilantro and other herbs that they don't always have stocked during the week. I usually leave with about 4 bags of produce plus a case of clementines for about $20. We eat a lot of fruit and veggies at my house, and I probably save more than I spend in the wintertime. If she knew it's priced wrong, maybe something should be done? I got a blank stare. I wasn't moving. She called the manager who agreed with her. Yes the price tag is wrong and not going to correct it. NJ law requires ​merchants to clearly mark the price of items either on the items themselves or the display where the merchandise is located. I WILL NEVER BUY VEGETABLES AT THE GROCERY STORE AGAIN!!!! This place has totally turned me into a vegetable snob. The prices are unreal. For example- 2 pound bags of yellow peppers are like $1.75! At the grocery store this can be upwards of $3.99/pd. I bought everything in the pic below for $14. This included 2 pd bags of red potatoes, green and yellow peppers, bag of onions, carrots and 2 bundles of asparagus for $2.25 among other things. I am completely obsessed. Bought peaches and other fruit here ..it's already bagged..got home of course most of the stuff in the middle of the bags was rotten. The white peaches were totally mushy and inedible. Not a bargain when you have to throw most of the stuff out. So far I'm loving this place. I've been looking for somewhere close by to get great produce and cheap. I swung through my first time on a Sunday, an hour before they close. I was told that they do not take same day phone orders on the weekends AND that they have only 13 ROLLS LEFT AT 2 PM on a SATURDAY! The first time I was here my sister brought me. They have fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and much much more. The staff is very helpful. When the produce aren't in the trays just ask one of the workers know and they will refill it. The cold cut are in a different area and it's clean. The rolls and the cold cuts taste delicious. Only thing I didn't care for was the Hoagies the meat was kind of thick and not that many slices of meat on the hoagie. Now don't get me wrong everything is fresh. But I think if they put the lunch meat on a smaller roll or cut the ends off the long roll it will be a better hoagie. The holies don't cost that much but you do want to taste lunch meat not just bread and vegetables. The produce here seem to last a little bit longer than the other Produce Junction I've been to. Slimy - gummy lunchmeat! I bought a whole pound of roast beef and turkey breast that I had to throw out because it was of such poor quality. I specifically asked for dry turkey breast and was told this type was dry and very popular. I had the exact same issue the last time I ordered turkey breast at Sewell location. Both places are very busy so it is not a issue of old lunchmeat, just extremely poor quality. It is not worth saving a couple of dollars per pound if the product is so gross you can't eat it. Beware to those who order hoagies...bad lunchmeat might be difficult to notice with the other added ingredients. Lesson learned - I will not go back to either location. Is there any management here overseeing how things are run? Produce that goes bad in days and deli department woefully understaffed. You can find yourself standing in line for an hour to order a hoagie and then be told sorry we ran out of roles. Or as today, being turned away from making a phone order saying you need to call a few days in advance. Who knows 3 days in advance they want to have a hoagie for lunch that day? My wife loves this place. She can buy produce, plants, flowers, and lunch meat all under one roof. I do not know how to shop for produce so I leave that to her. When it comes to lunchmeat, the prices can't be beat. Even the name brand top dollar stuff is reasonable here compared to delis and supermarkets. The people slicing lunchmeat deal with alot of BS. Yes some of them have attitudes. I guess I would too if I was cutting lunchmeat all day. Anyway, to make it easier on them I always bring a well written list of what I need and just hand it to them, so that way they don't have to keep asking me "anything else?". They seem to appreciate that. Yes they ask for ID when using debit, also much appreciated. The checkout lines move pretty quick. They also have bags of "Hot Nuts" (yes I know it sounds funny) at the checkout counters for like $1.75. They are Cajun spiced peanuts in the shell. I always grab a bag for snacking at work. Parking is plentiful. Only downside is the dreaded Brooklawn circle that it's on. Forget trying to come here during rush hour, or if it is raining since the circle almost always floods. read more

Verchio's is great! Even better than Produce Junction. I love that they keep less common produce in stock when in season (blood oranges, asian pears, spikey pears....). The prices are excellent, even on eggs and milk. I haven't used their deli, so can't really speak on the quality, but the produce is typically pretty great. When buying in bulk you may find some of the produce is over ripe, but that is to be expected. $10 minimum for credit and debit. Parking lot is a bit of a cluster. read more

Even their frozen food is fresh! They have everything!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, five stars for a grocery store. But take it with a grain of salt - this is a five star grocery store for someone who likes to cook. If you're a health-conscious person who has some elementary cooking skills, this should be your go-to grocery store for staples. I would still stick to an Asian or Mexican grocery store for produce, but you can get everything else here. Stopped by here for the first time after the SO told me about the produce and deli. He did say that it was a madhouse at lunchtime. I stopped by early in the morning, shortly after they opened for the day. No lines, but employees are stocking the bins and shelves. I picked up a good variety of fruits and some deli meats. I did not realize that everything (including the deli meats) get paid for at the main registers. So I made 2 trips, one for fruits and veggies and one for deli meat. I was a little disappointed on the size of the bagged fruit (lemons - 6 to a bag, apples only 4) in comparison to what I'm used to getting at Produce Junction or Columbus Farmer's Market, but everything tasted good. My praises go to the deli counter. A great selection and some good deals can be found. Did not see many plants or flowers (mid summer) or harvested herbs (no cilantro!) but did have dill and parsley. read more

The produce selection is ok and my husband likes their hoagies. However, they need to hire people who actually want to work and not act like they're in purgatory. The attitudes of the cashier girls in the produce area are atrocious. You're there to bag and give people their change, it ain't rocket science.. it also helps to smile when you're dealing with the public. If you're that miserable, maybe you should work in the back cutting down boxes. Management better get on this because you're gonna be losing a lot of business. I go to this location every few weeks to get produce/hoagies on a Friday morning. I've never had any issues. I went in on 7/21 to do my usual shopping and also place a hoagie tray order for tomorrow 8/5 1pm pick up for my fiance's birthday. The guy gladly took my order and specifically told me to call the day before to pay for the order because it needs to be paid 24 hours in advanced. As he was making my hoagies for that day, I stood there and added a reminder on my phone. I call this morning to pay for the order, they can't find my order. Everyone is looking, they keep thinking it's today, not tomorrow. Well, they lost my order. And they can't accommodate me for THEIR mistake. The manager gets on the phone and says that hoagie tray orders have to be paid the same day it's placed so that they can put it on their "board." He also told me if I "thought" the guy was lying to me, then I should've asked someone else. I NEVER THOUGHT HE WAS LYING OR NOT TELLING ME THE TRUTH. He looked like he been there for awhile since he was making hoagies like a pro and didn't jumbo up his words. They said they couldn't accommodate my order for tomorrow (mind you - it's their mistake). The earliest they could accommodate me was 2:30. I'm never coming back to this location.
