I don't know why but I felt like I gained XP from eating here…read more Food: Our friend's friend who is from Burwell took us here before visiting the annual Big Rodeo hosted in town. Not sure if they normally do this, or if it was because we had a large party, but they had makeshift a sloppy joe (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eW7wBDiiiYnohxLOOzj3gA?select=vz9XfeBcXZqD8FiXgjnBMQ#vz9XfeBcXZqD8FiXgjnBMQ) and hot dog (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eW7wBDiiiYnohxLOOzj3gA?select=vz9XfeBcXZqD8FiXgjnBMQ#RwukLCheFo142FAwFQ6yHg) buffet laid out in the restaurant complete with baked beans, pickles, and a macaroni salad. The sloppy joe filling was pretty good, but the bun clearly came from a store bought bag. I mean, it's hard to expect much more because this place isn't exactly near any urban hubs. Everything else was pretty honest and tasted how it looked. Atmosphere: We ate outside under a giant tent next to a stage studded with some impressive gear (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eW7wBDiiiYnohxLOOzj3gA?select=vz9XfeBcXZqD8FiXgjnBMQ#783tPFttN8A7KTyO_W82bg). Their seating area flooring is entirely sand, appropriate since Burwell is in the Nebraska Sandhills. Sadly, it looked like a giant ashtray with all the cigarette butts strewn about. The interior has a true dark, but not divey bar feel, the likes of which you just don't see in LA. I felt as if many friendships had been made and broken there. Service: It was mostly self service. Synopsis: Honestly, I would have never even thought about stopping at this place if not for the recommendation, but it was an interesting experience.

just left there, would never return. we saw on line they had steaks so we went for that. when we…read morearrived there were paper menus at the table with a couple options, burgers and chicken sandwich, we asked the waitress if this was their full menu, she chuckled and said "it is tonight". since we already ordered our drinks we stayed and ordered a burger and chicken sandwich. my wife sweet potatoes fries came out burnt, normally we don't complaint but they were uneatable. the waitress didn't even acknowledge my wife concerns but did eventually replace the burnt fries. we then heard the booth next to us order steaks and baked potatoes, obviously they were locals and the interaction was completely different as well as the menu. DO NOT EAT HERE. Food was average and the treatment was definitely different if you not from Burwell.

Based on the many positive reviews, we were looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We first walked into the bar area and called out several times, but no one responded. We then went to the restaurant entrance twice, again with no staff in sight. After calling out once more, an employee finally responded, that she was preparing the salad bar for dinner. When the employee noticed our service dog, she immediately said, "No, no, no, no dogs." My husband asked if service dogs were allowed, and she replied, "No dogs. I'm not the owner." We then left without being served. There were no other customers in the restaurant at the time. As travelers relying on service animal access, we found this experience both frustrating and disappointing.
