I came into the salon intending to use my gift card. This was a birthday gift. I spoke to a receptionist a month before to ask if my gift card was valid and they stated it was still on my account. I came in today to have Yon cut my hair. She has cut my hair before and she is familiar with the length of my hair and how I like it cut. When I showed up for my appointment today (which I had made several days in advance) she refused to cut my hair saying her shoulder hurt too much to cut long hair anymore. That's fine but someone should have told me that when I made the appointment or, at the very least, let me know ahead of time so I wouldn't come in today. To wait until I was actually at the salon for my appointment to tell me is very unprofessional and shows little regard for their customers. read more

Inside & in the back of the salon the lighting is low so I did not immediatley notice that my roots along my part were showing a straight line of color difference!!! So after leaving the salon for a foils color treatment, and getting into the sunlight, I could see the roots along my part of the hair were showing color difference---- to the extent that it looked my hair had already grown out to the 2 to 3-4 weeks of root color growth showing. I specifically said I cant stand that look of seeing the grow out---with the color difference. I called the salon the same day and left a message explaining the mistake. No one called me back. So I went by the salon 2 days later to show the clerk what had happened-------the clerk had the nerve to argue with me & to say that I had ask for that look of hair growing out along the part!!!! WHAT???? Who goes to a hair salon for color to look t like their hair has already grown out for a few weeks ? What? And to top it off I gave a $35.00 dollar tip on the day of the treatment---and then to be argued with about the mistake, WOW, so not nice. read more

I scheduled appointments for my daughter & myself. My daughter's appointment was for styling - the tech washed her hair, put product in and partially dried her hair - that was it! There was NO "styling" involved at all! And my daughter had to request that it be dried - when in the description the words "washed, dried, styled" are used!! My appointment was for a trim and styling - the cut is awful - asked that it not be layered (it is), asked that it not be cut past a certain point (it's several inches shorter than requested). Asked that it be styled and not left in tight curls - it was not styled at all. Again asked that it not be left in tight curls and was ignored. Product was put in and I was expected to leave. Had to request twice that it be dried (first time, water was literally dripping in my face). I used an Aveda salon exclusively (Buckhead, GA) when we lived there and was expecting the same level of expertise and service at this salon. It doesn't even come close! Wouldn't recommend due to difficulty of appointment scheduling and inadequate customer service which wasted a lot of my time. They are disorganized and quite callous. I'd rather spend my money at a warm and welcoming salon with vibrant and kind people - which is literally every single other salon I've visited in Virginia Beach. The vibe here is off. Long version: First of all every friend I've told this story to thinks I was WAY too nice about this nearly 3 week ordeal. I was referred by an acquaintance and called up for an appointment. I set the appointment and then 20 minutes later they called me back saying nevermind, I can't have that appointment because I need to book a consultation first. Okay a little weird but no worries, so I book a consultation. They didn't have anything for 1 week - okay fine. I show up to consult and it goes well. Awesome, looking forward to new color and cut! They can't get my actual appointment scheduled until a week out from the consultation. So now it's already taking 2 weeks to get an appointment. Okay fine, no worries, I'll be there because I'm excited. The day of my appointment they called to cancel last minute on me, only 1 hour in advance. They didn't give a reason but I'm an understanding person so I roll with it. They said she wouldn't be available again for another week...now it's taking 3 weeks to get my hair done. They suggest I see a different stylist so I booked an appointment a few days later. I show up at the appointment and they tell me I'm 20 minutes late (even tho I know I'm 10 minutes early because I'm positive the appt was booked for 11am, but it's he said/she said and no point in arguing so I digress). I ask if the stylist can still see me even though I'm "late" and she says the stylist isn't in today. Huh?? So even if I was "on time" the stylist just flat out wasn't in that day? She apologized and said something about their computer system being down all morning. Okay...moving on they apologize and offer me a gift card for a facial. Which was a nice gesture. They say the owner can take me at either 11:45 or 1:15. I choose the 11:45am and have to wait 45 minutes...time goes by and finally I'm ready and excited to get started! I do a hair consult with the owner and it goes well. She heads into the back to get the color mixed and whatever she needs - at that moment my phone rings and it's my bosses boss - oh crap she's never called me before and I HAVE to take this. So I run outside and let the front desk know it's a super important call and I'll be right back. The phone call lasts 8 minutes - I know this because there is a timestamp to show the call length. I run back in the salon and sit down at the stylist chair and am quickly told by the front desk I can no longer be seen. That I shouldn't have spent so much time on that phone call and now they don't have time to do my hair. Which is interesting because not only was the salon empty but do they not remember also offering me the 1:15pm appt - clearly the schedule was open. When I spoke up and said "cmon it was only 8 minutes and I assumed it would take her at least 5 minutes to mix the color" the front desk said "no that was a lot longer than 8 minutes" and I tried showing her the timestamp and they weren't having it. But my main issue is I was so patient with them after they made things less than easy for me multiple times - they made me come in for a consult (no problem there but it's time consuming to come in a full week in advance before a hair appt), they cancelled my appointment 1 hour beforehand, and the next time they didn't even have my stylist in the schedule the day of my appointment - and yet they can't be flexible with me? They suggested I come in the following day. At that point it almost made me cry because my husband is deployed, I'm new in town, I've got two small toddlers to take care of and no help from friends or family - so no I can't just show up on a Saturday to get my hair done. So I just held back my tears and said I'd be going now. They asked if I still wanted my facial gift card but I declined. My "me time" is very hard to come by and they wasted a lot of it. It wasn't just the fact that I had a bad experience, but that I was looking forward to treating myself during a stressful time and they somehow made things worse. I would never recommend going to this salon, they did not treat me with respect and the owner herself should be setting the standard for integrity and customer service. Instead she hid in the back while the front staff told me I wouldn't be seen. Maybe she didn't know the entire story - how her staff made a big mess of my appointments the past 3 weeks - but either way it was a bad experience all around. read more

Please don't waste your time like I did. I just moved to the area from NYC. I've had plenty of salon experience (good, bad and ugly) and this was one of the worst. I called prior to making appointment to make sure there would be a stylist who could provide the type of services I usually get. After being put on hold for 10 minutes, I was assured there was an experienced stylist but they would need to book a separate consultation before booking the actually service. During the "consultation" I was passed around to different self-proclaimed "master stylists" who had no idea what I was asking for nor what to do with my thick, curly hair. A master stylist should be able to handle any type of hair that comes through their salon, and be familiar with a multitude of treatments for different types of hair. I should also mention most of the stylists there were sporting over-processed, dry, and/or unkempt hair. Also, the place was empty. That in itself should be a red flag. read more

I don't understand why this place does not have more recent reviews. I went in for the first time today and saw Kassie for highlights and a haircut. She absolutely did a great job! My highlights were exactly the color that I wanted and she cut and styled my hair very nicely as well. When I called to make an appointment, I spoke to the owner and she matched me up with Kassie. I really appreciated that. I was treated well the entire time and my appointment was pleasant. I will definitely go back to this salon! read more

I have been searching Hampton roads for years for a good colorist... Well after my consult with a stylist who "claimed" to be just that and $200 later, I'm still looking!!! My dark hair was foiled and resulted in an awful red-violent, not the rich chestnut I asked for! I'm so frustrated! To top it off when I went back for correction, I was told I would be charged for the product? WTF... I've never heard of this!! I'll never be back! My daughter and I visited Verde Spa (formerly Reed Manning) yesterday and couldn't be happier. We each had a rejuvenation package which includes a pedicure, facial, massage, and wash and blow dry. I've never had a spa day before and this was amazing! Every single person we talked to, from the receptionist, each person providing the service and all the other employees we encountered during our four hour visit were polite, considerate and professional. I felt like royalty. There was very little wait in between each of our appointments and it ran seamlessly. I'm going back next month for another massage. Fran really knows her stuff! I went here for the first time today. The owner was my stylist. Masks were not being worn or worn properly. When I asked about mask use the girl at the front desk told me that the mask mandate can't be enforced. I absolutely love this place, and will never go anywhere else. My mom is a loyal customer, and after I had a hair catastrophe in Fall 2013 while I was away at school in a neighboring city (and I had a formal event to be at the next night), JoAnn at Reed Manning was nice enough to squeeze me in in between her appointments to fix what another salon did. She chose the perfect fix and made my hair look absolutely GORGEOUS! Needless to say, JoAnn rocked it, saved me and my hair, and I received compliments on my hair the entire night at my event! Since then I have been a loyal Reed Manning customer. I have been fortunate enough to be styled by JoAnn and Kassie and they have never ever done me wrong. Not only are these stylists awesome to talk to while I'm in the chair, they're extremely knowledgeable (and masters) in their craft and the Aveda products, listen to what I want, make great suggestions, and make sure I leave the salon happy and beautiful. I also appreciate that the staff highlights each others strengths. For example, when I eventually became brave enough to get highlights again after my catastrophe, it was recommended that I go to Kassie because she does amazing natural looking highlights, and let me just say it was completely accurate. She knocked it out of the park, and I LOVED them. JoAnn and Kassie are the only two people in the world who I will let near my hair now because they have only given me incredible experiences with cut, color, styling, and everything in between! The receptionists are great, and booking appointments is never a hassle. My appointments are always able to be booked in reasonable amount of time. I love the Aveda products, and during my last appointment the receptionist was a really big help when I was choosing some new Aveda products to purchase. All in all, I absolutely love this salon. I 100% recommend Aveda at Reed Manning to anyone looking for great hair and a great salon experience, and though I'm confident that every stylist in the salon is exceptional, you cannot go wrong with JoAnn or Kassie! read more

I had been going to Reed Manning for over 8 yrs. Yon is my girl there and I love her to pieces. I'm from NY and I have been to other salons around VB and Yon is by far the best around. When I moved to Spain for 4 yrs, I actually flew back to Reed Manning to have my hair done by her. She does amazing highlights and lowlights, fantastic cuts that is great for low maintenance but looks fabulous. The first time I met her, she knew exactly what to do with my fine hair to give it body and texture. I can't give her enough praise! I don't know what the other stylists are like only because when you've found the best, you tend not to look any further. read more

I have been to this salon for spa services such as massage & mani/pedi--and have always been very pleased! The technicians did a great job and were friendly without making me feel like I had to keep a conversation going every minute. Every time I was there the hair side of the salon was bustling, so when I wanted to try a new look with my hair in April I made an appointment with one of the stylists. Jacquie did an awesome all-over color with highlights and cut my hair just how I'd hoped it would look! Of course I've been back for maintenance on my color and cut. I leave Reed Manning feeling relaxed and happy with the services I have received. My husband also gets his hair cut by Jacquie, and she does a great men's cut too. read more

She also has this "liquid gold" that she applies during waxing and I could barely feel a thing! Been getting these waxes done for 10 years and this was by far the best experience! Went in for "the works". The facial was great, but downhill from there. The manicure wasn't dry when I was sent to the "hair stylist". I remember her short red hair and tattoos. (Looks like the girl in the picture) I didn't realize how bad the cut was until I washed my hair the next day! Someone take the razor away from her!! The whole back to crown is about 2in, and the sides are about 4! My husband says my scalp is showing in the back. Went in for a blow dry the other day (I can't do anything with it) and the girl smiled and said "It will look better in 6 weeks". If you value your hair,pick somewhere else. read more
